Markus woke suddenly, his eyes stung, he could barely breathe, and his nerves were stinging, his entire body on edge. His breath was ragged, shallow, rapid. The corner of his eyes held water, as if he had been standing in smoke.
It had happened again. He had dreamed of the end of the world, of the fall of the everything he knew. Fire, death, destruction, chaos, blackness… He could remember it all perfectly, he remembered every one of these dreams, he never forgot a single detail.
He had no idea how long from now the events take place, could be years, could be seconds, could be centuries. He knew it really didn't matter, it would come when it came. He knew one day, all things came to an end. He has had this kind of dream before, it was almost always the same, though there were noticeable differences. Location, terrain, time.
They had started long ago, luckily they were very rare, once in a blue moon, maybe twice a year. They always left him breathless. This time however was different. He could feel it, a sharp pull at the back of his mind. Almost like a headache, only the source was external. The feeling was a draw, no matter which way he turned, that feeling was always in the same direction.
He had only felt this feeling once before, many years ago, before the dreams had started. Why was he feeling it now? Was it for the same reason?... did it wish to speak to him? All those question were answered at the exact same time.
“Cooomee to meeee.” The voice was quite, almost impossible to hear. It was quite, a whisper, a breeze, a breath. Markus had head the ‘voice’, if it could be called that, once before. The voice had no tangible form, it was disembodied, so much so that no one would dare believe it was actually true. That was, until he heard it again, “My Progeeny, reeturn to meee... Cooomee to wheereee it all beeegan...”
Markus had no doubt to where he was to go, he had been there once before. Even if he was unsure, he knew the feeling at the base of his skull, the pull in his mind would direct him to where to go. He knew the journey would be long, and take him many weeks.
He yawned, deep and true. The kind of yawn which moved the entire body, and threatened to collapse a lung. Thinking on the tasks at hand, Markus was glad he traveled light. Looking around he saw the alley he had chosen to be his home. It was hidden deep within Magnolia, not farm from the guild. He had no possessions he could not carry on him, and he kept the jewel he got from jobs in a bank. He only needed to leave a message with the guild, and he would be off.
They would not ask questions if he said he was doing a job out of country. That was the best part about Fairy Tail. Being a neutral mercenary guild, they did not question much. As long as it did not bring heat on them.
Markus was only an Intern member, his mark was still an outline, but he had long suspected the guild held darker secrets, even if he had yet to discover what they where.
Markus took a deep breath, pulled out his passport, and headed for the guild. There was much to be done, and traveling to Sin was always a hassle, even with a Passport.
