Personality: Sapphire is a strange girl. From a young age, she was very lonely. Her mother and father did not love her, a fact which she learned early on. She was the unwanted baby. The failed abortion. Her mere existence was a constant headache for her mother and father, another bill they'd have to pay. Her worth, measured not by smiles and hugs, but by receipts piled up by a cooler. The fact she was not abandoned however, was enough for Sapphire. It meant, to some degree, that they might have cared for her. While she had constant anger from being ignored, Sapphire eventually found a variety of ways to suppress it. From a young age, she took up gardening. At any point in her life in which Sapphire was far too lonely to deal with others, she would go out into her fathers dojo. There, she became addicted to the thrill of combat. Learning to read others movements from the slightest twitch, to discover zero-day weak points in their defenses was Sapphire;s boon. In combat, in war, everyone would acknowledge her presence, everyone needed to respect her existence. It was a complete shift from her everyday life, resulting in a complete shift in her personality. When locked in war, she was savage, keen, and adroit. When outside of combat, she was intimidating. The way she communicated with others was as if she knew something they didn't. This, of course, has led to her living a rather lonely teenage life. People are often threatened by her demeanor, or figure it's best to keep away from her. Even when she does have friends, she generally takes everything so intensely that it can be hard to tell what she's actually feeling. That combined with a consistent need to be seen as aloof makes it incredibly to keep those friends. It's led to her having a rather lonely teenage life. As a result of this, Sapphire looks at most things with a pair of jaded eyes. Death, is fine, it happens. Greed, is necessary to sustain an economy, or herself in a lot of cases. One might even call Sapphire a bit of a miser for her obsession with greed. She tries her best to look at everything objectively, simple truths that people like to ignore. But to ignore is to err, and to sin. There is never any reason to ignore the truth, but people do it regardless. Which is fine. If everyone wasn't ignorant, than everyone IS ignorant.
That's fine in Sapphire's eyes. This objective view of the world grants her the ability to see things clearly. Most emotions, she finds, are distractions. If she were to be bitter about how her parents ignored her, she would never be quite the capable assassin she was today, and then how would she earn her living? If she were o be upset about the lonely life she lived, she never would have picked up the violin, and subsequently would never have had a brief fling with a foreign exchange student years ago in high school.
