Well she had not exactly said in anyway, but he took it that way, she had only meant the job but he unloaded about everything. At the very least? Rumi didn’t have trouble communicating with people what he was thinking! However, she tsked her tongue at some of his words, humming something to herself with her hands behind her neck, twined into the hair there as she thought on how best to explain his minor misinterpretation. “Honestly I didn’t think the enemies mattered too much.” Really the only thing on her mind when when she flounced over and got the little boy to accompany her? Was keeping her own demonic instincts in check and making sure she did not accidently actually murder the giant, since her goal was only to get his herd not his life if avoidable. On her own, Jiyu had no doubt she would take this too far. “I've just been taking whatever job comes my way lately and my mission partner if any existed, at the site, it’s kind of become habit of really mentioning too much of that stuff to people anymore.” Sure she had been playful by withholding which job it was, but she hadn’t intended to have him think she was lying, he was smart and she really had not thought she needed to say anything. Of course? She would not have said anything either way, since what she truly needed her fellow hound for was instinct control, keeping herself under control with the presence of someone precious, even if she happened to accidentally consume blood. Jiyu was far from the most carefully thinking woman in the world, sure she was clever and calculating but she was also rash and decisive. Traits that sometimes canceled each other out. None of that mattered anyways, the bottom line was she needed him and for a brief moment she had believed he might go somewhere and not actually come off the ship with her!

“Trust me, you're definitely needed, if I thought it would be breezy enough to do alone, I would have done so, I have before.” but that was before she became a half dog demoness and found she tended to go further in this form than she did when she had been human, take things too far and regret it after she was finished with the mission, even if the guilt came days later, it still came and she still disliked it. “Well first we have to make sure we’re fighting away from the herd, so we don’t hurt them accidently.” she pointed it out, but that was a clear point. “We’re going to use the small woods on the island as cover from the giant, he won’t see us beneath them but we’ll be able to see him, long enough to attack enough to bring him down.

And now they were getting to the part of a ship ride where people bonded.

“Let me read the draft when you write it up than.” the wind user leaned over the rail of the boat, smiling contently as the ship rocked with the ocean waves, claws tracing the wooden patterns beneath them. Jiyu glanced over to speak once more, but smirked at the fact he was detached by his book, looking fondly at him and resisting the urge to ruffle his hair between the ears. “Enjoy the book.” the water was more than enough to keep her entertained, eyes glued to it until she saw the seabed change somewhat which signaled them nearing land. She heard the other comments and, than her own could not be contained “You are good thought, pretty sure I was still reading picture books at your age.” of course she also had a much humbler begining than any god could, if her mother hadn’t died she would still be humble even now, just another faceless village girl marrying whoever she was closest to as a child.

“Let’s go than.” she made the comment as she leaped over the side of the ship and landed in the water, legs getting wet as she walked to the shore and felt the sand between her toes. “Why don’t we take care of the wolf pack I’m smelling first? So they don’t decide the scent of future fighting is dinner?” she was giving him a choice, but really they were going for the wolves anyways, Jiyu disliked sharing with other canines if they weren’t part of her pack, ruminal was part of hers so he was alright, but the other wolves made her eyes darken and her tail lash.

Ruminal Blackflower • Black Rose • C Rank

Ruminal listened to Jiyu's excuses with his hands in his pockets and an annoyed look on this face. He just wanted to drop this conversation already cause it seemed like she wasn't going to learn her lesson anyway. Ruminal will just have to be on top of his game to let her know when she's doing it again in the future. What mostly annoyed Ruminal about what happened was the fact she was acting like she was trying to trick him into the job. Whether that was true or not didn't matter, it still looked that way to him. She continued to go on about how Ruminal wasn't being used for this job and was indeed very useful. Jiyu also mentioned that they needed to make sure the herd doesn't get caught in the crossfire by any means necessary. It made sense considering the mission is to obtain the cattle so if they got hurt they wouldn't be very useful to the client.

Fast forwarding back to the ship.

Ruminal blushed at Jiyu's comment for her to read a rough draft of his book before he finalizes it and was flattered. "It might be a long time before I consider starting to write it out and it maybe a very long book too if not a series." After Ruminal was done reading the rest of his book's chapter everyone was praising him for his good reading skills and complementing him on choosing such a good book to read. Even Jiyu through in her two cents and complemented him. "Heh..." he laughed putting his hand behind his head. "What can I say? I like to read." he said blushing.

Finally they have reached their destination and it was time to get to work. Jiyu was the first to jump off the ship and make her way to the shore. Ruminal wasn't far behind her, the water was a bit deeper then he had expected though. When he jumped in the water went up to his waist. For Jiyu it was up to her knee's. She suggested that they take out the local wolf pack first so they don't come running in later in the fight. This plan however didn't sit well with Ruminal considering he was part wolf but he knew it had to be done. Besides it wasn't like they were going to kill them, just make sure they don't get in the middle of there fight. "Lets get this over with then." He said finally making it onto the beach. His pants were soaked and he wasn't liking it but oh well, he will manage.

    475 words.

Jiyu never learned her lesson on anything, unless it was drastic, she just was stubborn and willful to a degree that could serve as a disadvantage sometimes. Sometime's thought, it could be useful, but right now it likely was not, and she had no clue. Time passed, everything transpired, he blushed at her comment making her giggle slightly and smile down at him "Than count me as your first beta reader~" the wind user chimed it, standing still on the shore for a little while as she got her bearings both by her normal five senses and her magnetic one. he didn't sound too happy with her plan and she looked over, having forgotten he was part canine due to his father being a feline. "Rumi, they'll be alright, I don't want to kill another canine anymore than you do, all I have to do is beat their alpha." Once you bettered the alpha of a pack, she had found in the past that this put them under your control and they would stay where you told them, and settle back into their old way after a few days. Actually thought, she might just want to kill them, that was why rumi was here, to make sure she did not take action's like those!

After a while, they arrived at the wolf pack in it's den, and clearly they were not happy at the mages standing right outside. "I'm- Oh damn." they did not give her time to issue any challenge to the alpha because  they all lunged at her at once, entering her into combat. Right after she dodged them by floating up thought? The strangest thing happened, they all started cowering and whimpering back, seeming to have taken damage with no strike against them, her aura flaring and the cause of this. "You should just stay down and out of are way, kay?" she held her hands over her ears causing that take over to activate, walked forward once, lifting her hand which caused wind blades to pour, finishing the pack off. While she had no killed them, and they would recover in a day or two with minor scratches from her assault? It was clear they'd stay in the den today.

"Now let's see what we can do about the sheep dog he's suppose to have. You can heal these guys if you want, they probably won't bother us." she looked around, pricking her ears in an effort to locate the second canine, not wanting to smell the little blood she'd made the wolves shed, because that would be bad for her, it could trigger her blood lust, and she brought Rumi to be double sure it wouldn't happen! Kazehime doubted the boy would enjoy seeing her act without any mercy and only desiring to obtain the blood of her enemy.

Ruminal Blackflower • Black Rose • C Rank

As they made there way a round the island in search of a local wolf pack to take care of, Ruminal was trying his best to dry out his wet pants as best he could. Finally the located a den of wolves not to far away from where they docked. Jiyu took care of them rather quickly however Ruminal felt that maybe using force wasn't entirely necessary. It seemed as soon as Jiyu leaped into the air they knew what they were up against and just gave up. "Maybe you didn't have to attack them at all. I think they were giving up at the end there. It's possible they went up against the giant and lost a few times." Ruminal pointed out. Jiyu offered Ruminal a chance to mend there wounds of which he did so immediately. He healed them enough to where they wouldn't be bleeding anymore and numbed the pain a great deal and finally set them up to where they be back to perfect health by morning. They didn't seem to put up much of a fight the whole time Ruminal was doing so, if anything they seemed to be pretty comfortable around him. Must be a wolf thing or maybe they just appreciated the medical treatment who really knew.

After dealing with the wolves Jiyu and Ruminal made there way to Geryon cattle farm. Like Jiyu suggested they hid pretty far away at the borderline of a nearby forest. Everything seemed to be normal at the moment. The cattle they were looking for were outside roaming around in a largely fenced off area. The Giant wasn't anywhere to be seen which was disconcerting for Ruminal. It was going on noon and a herd this big mustn't be easy to feed, shouldn't he be outside at the least? Not even his sheepdog's were in site. It was possible they came at the time they happened to be away for some reason. Suddenly Ruminal and Jiyu heard a twig snap behind them and turned to see what it was. It was a group of Leopard's at least five in total. "Nice kitties..." Ruminal said as calmly as he could knowing full well they were anything but nice. He nudged at Jiyu giving her the ok to drive them off before the giant comes back otherwise this could end very badly. Then again they don't even know if that was truly the case. For all they known the giant and his sheepdog's could be close by. Either way Ruminal wasn't ready to hand himself over as food to a group of Leopard's.

“That wasn’t actually them submitting, the displayed fear was an effect of my aura.” she guessed it would have been nice to explain to him before now that she had that sort of thing, an aura that lasted out at every enemy near her and sapped health from them, weakened her opponent. If she had left the wolves alone after simply touching them with her aura, then they could have become a problem later. Of course he was going to think whatever he wanted to anyways, and she couldn’t internally deny it felt good to force them into submission, so really it was a hard place and a discussion she clearly did not actually want to have. However if Rumi forced it, she might explain a bit more properly, even if she would do so reluctantly.

“Yeah, I got them.” they were just your average predators, and she was apex in comparison, taking town a small group of leopards would be nothing for the wind user! This time though she did not let them get close to her right away, the hungry cats prowled and got to eat one of her arrows! Jiyu let it go, and it was strange because nothing happened, the arrow seemed to miss striking the ground. “Come get me kitties~” she taunted them, it seemed a dimwitted move, but the second they lunged, several tornado’s erupted, and she already knew that they would keep running, it was what she wanted. Between her aura’s initial hit due to them being within 30 feet of her, and their inability to not try and race for her? They would fall, it was no question, the confident mage turning around to face ruminal. However before she could speak up, she saw what she suspected was the cattle dog, laying by the herb.

“Now he could present a problem.” she bit her lip slightly, looking at the two headed dog, trying to decide if she’d consume her own blood now or later. For the moment? She chose to save it for the giant unless her hand was forced, she now knew she might need the boost in speed provided by drinking blood, but she wasn’t going to like doing it in front of rumi after the way he had reacted to her treatment of the wolves. “Come forth.” she drew her fan, and raised it up, causing three skeletons to appear and bow to her, smirking slightly she crouched in front of them “Rise, I need you to lure that giant dog over here, don’t be seen by anyone else, alright?” she pet the skull of the middle one, and all three rose darting off to do their assigned task. “By the time they lure him over here I should be off cool down for wind slash and since he’s only one tornado ball is in the cards, we’ll see where it goes after that.” she could two of her attacks that with her buffs dealt over 100 damage, he shouldn’t be too troublesome to bring down. However she’d be without her canine ears upon facing the giant.

Jiyu equipped her bow and fired an arrow at the leopards but she seemed to have missed entirely and it hit the ground in front of them. "You missed! How could you miss! They were 10 feet in..." Ruminal had began to say in a panic but his words were lost to him as Jiyu taunted the big cats as if everything was going according to plan. Was then Ruminal noticed that the arrow wasn't an ordinary one. It had magic power sealed within it. The leopards took the taunt head on and as they began to attack several tornado's erupted from the arrow's location. In seconds the fight was already over and Ruminal looked at Jiyu before looking away with a bit of an embarrassed look on his face. "Yah, uh... Never mind."

Jiyu however noticed the cattle dog laying in the herbs not to far away from them. Ruminal quickly ducked behind a tree to have himself a look see. Indeed he was there seemingly sound asleep. "At least he didn't wake up to those tornado's." He said with a sigh. However it seemed Jiyu wasn't paying attention at that moment instead she pulled out a fan and summoned three skeletons. They bowed to her once summoned and she just started giving off commands to them as if non of this situation was abnormal at all. "Sense when could you summon skeletons?" Ruminal asked. To be honest Ruminal didn't really know how to react to this, after all they had a skeleton roaming around there own guild as a member. Jiyu gave the skeletons a task to lure the dog over to them while not being seen by anyone or anything else. Jiyu explained her plan to Ruminal and then waited. "Uh huh... Well good luck." He said running back a few feet to hide incase things go wrong. This way Ruminal wouldn't be caught in the middle of the battle and could cast spells from a safe distance.

The skeletons ran through the large clearing like ninjas. They didn't make a sound whatsoever and kept pretty low to the ground. Once they made it to the dog however it woke up immediately and started to bark loudly. After a few seconds it charged full speed towards the skeletons and at this point they started retreating back towards Jiyu and Ruminal. The dog managed to grab one of them and take it down before charging after the remaining two. By the time the dog could catch back up the remaining skeletons they already completed there task in luring it to Jiyu.

One day he would learn to never question what she did, the plans she had. If there was one thing Jiyu rarely did? That was miscalculate her move in a job or miss a shot with her bow! It was humorous hearing him yell, but it also told her where the boys head was when it came to her ability. Sad really, she'd just have to prove herself to him. “Ruminal, I never miss.” If she missed there was more than her enemy to worry about, something far worse than these opponents, would await her if she missed! The thing that would be her problem if she missed a shot? Had long green hair, dark eyes and a temper, mint was psychopathic and would likely not be pleased to find that the girl he had taught to shoot suddenly started missing. Come to think of that? She had to wonder if the people in her village knew what she had turned into, how they felt about it, if they were upset she'd run away. Yet she'd never find any answers, to get them she would need to go back and Jiyu just wasn't willing to do it. “It's fine kid~” she couldn't make him feel guilty, the last time he had worked with her, she had been so weak. “I was weak the last time you went somewhere with me and you've never seen me with a bow before, it was only natural you'd assume I had missed.” Not that she wasn't pissed he thought so low of her! But she could see where it had come from, even if it still upset her somewhat.

“I got this fan after defeating a bunch of undead, it's the tool not me, I guess.” It was something she really had no exacerbated way of explaining, no reason for. Summoning the skinless corpses was just something she had become able to do. Was it bad she didn't question things like that? Just accepted them at face value as part of who she was. It didn't matter, there was no time to question things, their enemy was upon them.

“Fuck!” That was something you never wanted to hear your partner say on such a risky mission! “How did I not smell those?!” Well she had smelled them, she had just thought they were further away! Now a pride of lions was surrounding her and a bear was coming from behind, too much she had not bargained to be surrounded! “Ruminal.” She sounded serious for once, the first time on this mission she had taken up such a tone, eyes harden over and saddened at the same time. Jiyu slowly drew one arrow, not enchanted, no magic in it, gnawing on her lip as she aimed it. The reason she practiced so much and cause for her to plan out or gather information? Was because once things got this close to her, she was screwed, pretty much dead, unless she used measures she had not intended to take here. “This wasn't the plan.” She intended to take the dog down and then make off with the cattle before the giant showed up! Now she had this fight on her hands. “Throw everything protective you have at me, I need to get this arrow back once it hits. After I get it, heal me once and promise you won't watch the fight until I tell you it's done, just close your eyes I'll be able to protect you.” He didn't need to see this, she already knew some people disliked her after seeing how blood hungry she could become. Plus Ruminal was a child, he didn't need to see what they might look like when she was done. Finally she let her arrow go, straight at the chest of a lion, it hit and she jumped as they all charged her, the giant dog knocking her across the clearing. She was unsure whether to be happy she brought Ruminal or upset she didn't see the additional risk here.

Thing's seemed to be going as planned until Ruminal sensed a group of lions and a bear coming from behind. How he knew this was because of the wind blowing there scent and the leafs from the tree's were dancing around him before blowing in the animal's direction. It seemed like Jiyu noticed them too cause she suddenly her tone of voice changed. She didn't seem to happy with this turn of events. Ruminal tried to think of a way he could hold them off while Jiyu finished off the dog that was nearly upon them. He racked his brain with over a hundred different scenario's but non ended well for either of them. His best option as it seemed would be to unleash it. Let the demon take over and take the animals out himself and try to take back control before it could hurt Jiyu that is until she spoke. She screamed his name and told him to cast all the defensive spells on her that he had then to wait till she retrieved her arrow and heal her. The next thing she wanted him to do came off as concerning. She wanted him to close his eyes and not watch the fight from there on till it was over.

All in all Ruminal saw how much stronger she had gotten sense the last time they worked together. It made Ruminal think "What have I been doing this whole time?" Here Ruminal had been trying to get stronger so he would be more helpful and less of a burden. Then there was Jiyu who got so much stronger so quickly without him even knowing. It was true lately Ruminal had been shutting himself out for the past few weeks dealing with this demon inside of him but to loose this much ground. Ruminal and Jiyu use to be around the same strength level and now she is more then twice as strong as him. It made Ruminal more determined then ever to keep moving forward. Ruminal went on this mission to keep Jiyu safe but as it turns out it was the other way around. But at this moment, they both needed to give it everything they had to get out of this.

Ruminal extended his arm out, hand flat, towards Jiyu. He flared up, concentrating all his power towards her. Ruminal slammed his hand into the ground casting Gift of the Earth which caused the earth around Jiyu to spiral around her like a dust storm before clinging to her body to make a second skin of earth. Next he lifted his hand to the sky and a bunch of light partials from the tree's began to appear. He motioned towards Jiyu and the light partials sped towards her and began to spiral around her like his last spell creating a 3rd skin of light. "Gift of the Earth and Gift of Light!" He yelled as he cast his spells.

Not all of the strength she had gained was the natural kind that came from training, some of it had come from deep within as corny as that sounded. When she awoke her demon blood? Throught all the issues it brought up and pain it caused, the event had made her so much stronger, demonic power coursing freely through her body. However past all the darkness she had harnessed to make herself powerful, independent. Some of it still remained untouched and out of her control! That was the part she would be using to win this battle, the side of herself that had cost her a friendship, the part she hated letting run free. Yet allowing the loss of control was the only way she could keep the promise she had made at the beginning of this mission, the fact Ruminal would remain safe. Hopefully? She could forgive herself for taking this measure once more, it seemed every time she tried to resist, the world forced her to go this far, she could not escape the little voice nagging for blood, no matter how hard she shoved it into a cage. All that was left for her, was to envelop it and use it’s lust as her strength, so long as she was the one in control of when the blood was shed, she was still in control somehow. Even against these odds, she was somehow in control and would be the one to come out as the victor, ears flicking at his words, breathing deep as the animals started to charge, using her ears in combination with her eyes, Jiyu managed barely to dodge all the attacks, one of the lions hitting her shoulder and the giant dog almost getting her with his paw, but they weren’t her target.

The lion she had struck through the heart and lung with her arrow, it was going down due to shock, sprawled on the ground and twitching slightly, waiting as a ready offering to her. Kazehime came before the beast and crouched down, the other animals closing in behind her, tiny hand reaching for the arrow and throwing it to the side, allowing the blood to flow freely. Now that she had access to blood? Her instincts took over and she lowered her mouth to the wound, sucking up what flowed from the dying beast. Jiyu’s aura had been felt by the animals before, but now it spiked and the fear that had not shown before, it started taking root in them, realizing maybe they fucked with the wrong mage. As the beasts charged once more, closing distance, Jiyu held her hands her tail until she felt the takeover come, bringing her hands together and clicking her heels together, causing her paws to emerge. Now all she needed was for her ears to last a little while longer! She could feel them draining energy, but just a bit longer, everything had to be right.

Suddenly the beast’s collided with each other instead of Jiyu, looking around dazed.

She was behind them, standing on the branch of a tree and staring at them unamused, yawning into one paw as she cracked her neck and shifted her feet. “Wind Slash.” her voice held this sadistic tone as her hand lifted, causing her wind blades to emerge once more, surrounding and slicing the opponents, easily taking out all the weaker ones. It was clear now that she had been under shooting her abilities by a certain degree earlier, for some reason holding herself back. Because this time? Her wind blades did likely kill the animals, and certainly severely hurt the larger beast, the witch not giving him any time to recover “Tornado Ball.” she shot the orb of wind and struck him once more, huffing when he charged once more, standing there and taking his breath attack. While it caused the armor to crumble? It didn’t do much more to the sorceress who laughed softly, lifting her hand once more to trigger an explosion of wind around the beast, jumping forward with all four paws cased in wind. Considering she used a bow and arrow? The beast had not expected her to leap at him, thus was unprepared for the four quick strikes and her tail joining them, her arm slashing forward to generate the wind blade, causing him to fall, likely dead.

She had killed all of them.

Stumbling, her ears poofing off, she stumbled over to the herd, taking the lead bull by his horn and urging him in the direction of Ruminal. “Take this won’t you? And don’t look, alright.” She didn’t seem horribly injured herself, yet the smell of blood was heavy in the clearing, making the herd anxious. Jiyu looked worn, paws crossed to hold her human upper arms. She had brought him with so she wouldn’t do something like that, and yet she had done it anyways, even past her smile you could see the jaded expression in her eyes. Yet? She had more control then some did, because she had not gone at the little boy after she finished with the animals, instead she had stopped.
