Hargeon once again. A simple observational complaint that had been nagging in her thoughts ever since she arrived. It wasn’t such a bad place and was even the location of her first actual job that did not involve being some form of messenger girl. The only issue she had with the place was the fact it was much too near a large body of water. While The Calm Sea wasn’t as large as the actual ocean itself, it was still enough to rattle her nerves. As she stood on the wooden docks overlooking the sea a slight shiver went through her spine. Her version of thalassophobia wasn’t so extreme that she couldn’t handle being around bodies of water, but there was no way she would ever allow herself to leave the safety of land. Her boot kicked an empty glass bottle that had been left on the docks and her gaze watched as the bottle dropped into the water with a small splash. Another shiver. Just what was she doing there again? To torture herself with thoughts of being in the middle of a vast open sea with no spec of land in sight? That didn’t exactly pay well. Oh, that’s right.

During one of her “relaxing days” word of some strange events happening with the sea shore had reached Aliarey’s ears. Sea creatures were beaching themselves and were very persistent in remaining on the shore. Any attempts in throwing them back into their proper environment were met with much less than success. Due to such an issue, a price tag was associated with investigating the situation and dealing with the creatures. While it wasn’t the grandest amount that could have been offered the circumstances had peaked her curiosity. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Aliarey left the docks and made her way to the location of the occurrence.

Finding the correct spot wasn’t difficult at all. All the tall blonde had to do was follow the crowd of people heading in the same direction. Many gathered to gossip while others gasped in disbelief. Some were even trying to deal with the creatures themselves. If that was not enough to help her find the place then the fact that the sand was quite literally packed with hundreds of sealife would of sufficed. She did not think it was this bad. Her dislike of sea animals went hand in hand to that of the sea. Well least they were dead, or so she thought.

Aliarey made her way to a couple of the bodies that were lying on the sand. They appeared to be some type of shark. Her head tilted to the left slightly as she stared at it. Nothing with them appeared to be out of the ordinary aside from the fact they were out of the sea. Not really wanting to touch it, she grabbed a long stick that had been on the ground and gave it a poke. Yep, just a dead shark. Just as she threw the stick away and turned around to head to another group the shark she had poked started  flailing around. Surprised by the movement of the sea creature that was apparently alive, Aliarey jumped back and turned to face it once more. The one near it had started to flail around as well. How were those things even still alive?! Normally she would of chosen to simply ignore it and let it die on its own but the things had turned hostile and was somehow trying to hop their way closer to her. The two sharks met their end with each receiving a few shots to the head from her normal pistols.

A group of four more sharks had their attention snapped her way from the sounds. Well at least things were getting fun. With a shout of a spell Aliarey was now requipped with her lightning gun set. She did not fire immediately though. While a few shots would of ended the small group of sharks quite easily, she wanted to add a little style to it. Her normal shoes were then requipped with her rocket boots. As she took a small jump back the boots propelled her upwards at a backwards angle.  Now she was far from the rows of teeth that wanted flesh. Taking aim, each shark was dealt with quickly for each one received around five shots of lightning powered projectiles. A smirk formed on Aliarey’s face. Land creature six; sea creatures zero.

A shame she had been too distracted with her own enjoyment that she did not take notice of the fact she had landed right by a giant whale. It wasn’t until its tail had smacked her from behind and sent her into the sea that she came to realize its existence. Her body hit the water hard and it mixed with the pain going through her body from the initial attack of the whale. Still that was nothing compared to the red alert her nerves and brain were giving her for actually being under water. With an underwater scream escaping her, Aliarey ignored the pain coursing through her body and forced it to quickly get back to land.

A glare was sent towards the flailing whale once her form had arrived back on the shore. That thing would receive no mercy for sending her into that liquefied field of death! Her lightning guns were gone now as were her rocket boots. They must have reached their limits while she was in the water. No matter. Those were not enough for her wrath. A simple disc was all she needed. A little requip magic and the round metal object had formed in her hands. The whale was quite a large and stationary target. It May have been flailing its limbs around but for the most part it was stuck in place. None of her shots should miss.

The disc was tossed onto the sand in front of her and with a flash of light formed into a small turret. It immediately began to fire at the whale and over its duration she used an ability unique to her that had formed three more turrets for the cost of more of her own magical energy. Just to add good measure she drew her normal pistols once more and kept firing and reloading until the turret assault had ended. The whale seemed be a large corpse now, unmoving and now filled with holes from each shot its body had received. Just to be spiteful as soon as the turrets despawned she put her pistols into their holsters and requipped her Boom Spider Launcher and released all three explosive spider bombs from its chamber. Their skittering usually worked in random patterns but since the whale was so large and shot directly at its form they ran into it and exploded without all that much moving. More points for the land creature.

Aliarey allowed her launcher to be returned to its storage dimension. Her anger had been released and she was positive the whale had perished. Still, there was no evidence around to explain what was causing the strange phenomenon. The answer to the mystery may just have to reveal itself later like some sort of cliffhanger in a story. Regardless, it seemed the dangerous sea creatures had been dealt with. The civilians around should have been able to deal with what was left. She turned away to leave the shoreline and head back into town but was stopped when a fish flew out of the water and smacked her in the face. The beaching continued, as did her assault on the now weak and helpless groups of fish that remained.
