Assassination Contract: Miss Cooper

A storm set before the sun rose. Green fields, flowers laying underneath the woman, Miss. Andrea Cooper. The flowers that lay were as presumed dead, just like the woman that lay before Eiji. Blood flowing out of everywhere, the soil underneath her is red. Red was the color that Eiji kept seeing as he closed his eyes. He smiled. Happy. The bright sun represented perfectly the mood that Eiji was in. Happy, euphoric. Unfortunately, not for the women, thought Eiji. Perhaps she did live a miserable life, and was happy as well that she died? Or perhaps she had so many problems that she was happy to let all of this go? All of these, of course were are all speculations. Eiji squatted, took a breath of the warm, dense air that surrounded him, took a closer look of the woman, said “May the gods care for you in the afterlife”, and left the field.

There are several questions one could ask. Who is this woman? What made Eiji do the things that he had done to this woman? What happened that led to this? Was this an act of compassion, or was this because he was paid? All of this will be said in future posts.

It was a late afternoon. Thud, thud. It was raining like heavy. Eiji has been staying in Oak Town for a while now, and was familiar with the town. The weather patterns, the different stalls, the different tourist attractions. He is actually liking the town now. Under all of these similar similarities in perspectives of the citizens over there, when talking to most of them, he found that there was enough of a difference that allowed room for disorder. Some sort of rebellion could take place, Eiji thought to himself. Maybe when he does get stronger, he would come back to this place, and try to liberate these people.

He was in a bar, drinking some whiskey, cherishing the burn in his stomach, when he saw a poster with a middle-aged woman in center. Underneath it, showed the whereabouts whereas the contact details of the woman. “Lady Coldfinger” Muttered Eiji quietly. He was looking to make more money as always, and has had difficulties searching for jobs. These days, the law has been enforced more and more, the stigmatisation of mages in dark guilds has been getting more and more severe. Taking some of his money from his pocket, he gave it to the bartender, thanked him, and went on his way to search for the woman.

It wasn’t very far away - probably took 30 minutes, when walking at a normal pace. Eiji arrived at the client’s home. It was the only house nearby, a small wooden fence separating this house and the rest of the world. It was a normal house, with a very big plot of land, that was filled with plants such as fruits, and vegetables. The house, as observed by Eiji was very old, evident by the fact that some of the some of the windows were broken as well as some of the walls being covered in soot. He took a breath - smells like animals. Disgusting.

Eiji went in. He knocked on the door. No one answered. He knocked on the door the second time, this time more forcefully. This opened the door. He walked in, and looked around him. Clustered, dirty, everything Eiji hated. He heard a voice that was full of life - high, sweet, and very rich “Who is that?”
He continued walking, when he saw the woman that was in the middle of the posters. “I came in because you were searching for a job?” Eiji answered. “Ah!” She said, “Well, sit down! I’ll tell you the details”.

“Every year, there is this competition, a gardening competition. Gardening, if you see all around you is my passion. I know nothing else, but gardening. Nowadays, young people don’t know how to garden. They think boring! What a shame” She shook her head. “Well, every year I would win. But I lost this year. My reputation! MY LIFE! My husband left me because of my gardening. THIS IS ALL I HAVE” She shouted. Eiji sat, remaining emotionless, but deep down, he was scared because this woman looked unstable. “This woman, Andrea Cooper took my place. I know that she did some black magic shit because I know there is no way. I AM THE BEST AT GARDENING. NOBODY CAN STEAL THAT FROM ME”.

She gained adrenaline, and stood up, walking around, as it to calm herself. “This woman, I want you to harm her or kill her. Whatever you want. I want you to give her hell, just like how she has given me hell. Are you up for this?” Eiji said “Yes”

“Very good”. She giggled. “This afternoon, on a hill up north from here, she will farm. I know, because I have stalked her. “Do whatever it is that you have to do. I will pay you handsomely.”

Eiji nodded, and left the house. He walked up north, where he saw a hill nearby, a huge tree on top of it. He felt a droplet of water, and looked up. The grey sky covered the sun, as if knowing what is going to happen. He walked slowly, his heart beating fast with adrenaline. Surrounding him, were tiny rocks and pebbles that were just waiting for him. He had decided not to use any magic just to harm someone in a more primitive way is more satisfying he had felt. From what Miss Coldweather had told him, he had the impression that the target was harmless.

He arrived at the top of the mountain and saw a woman laying underneath the tree as the tree protected her from the rain. Her eyes were closed before she heard footsteps, as she opened her eyes and saw a male figure approaching her. “Hello there!” She said, “What are you doing here? You should come here, you are completely wet!” She stood up. “What is your name son?”

Eiji looked at her. She had wrinkles all over her face, showing signs of being tired, but yet there was something else about her. Before he knew it, he took a knee to her stomach. She coughed up blood, and laid her hands on her stomach. Speechless, and shocked, she looked down on the ground.

He took the rock and punched her in the face. She laid down with her face up to the sky, her gums bleeding, as Eiji sat on top of her, and kept punching in her face to the point where she showed no response. Her face was bleeding everywhere, as he smiled. The storm stopped, and the sun shone. This is where the events that took place in the first post took place.

He want back to Miss Coldweather’s house, where the woman waited on her crouch, as she fidgeted with a spoon in front of her. “What happened?” She said. Eiji answered back, “I killed her. Or even if she did survive, she have a hard time. No men will ever look at her. Not even one that is so desperate.” The woman laughed hysterically. “HAHA! THIS SHOULD SEND A MESSAGE. NOBODY WILL EVER WIN AGAIN!” She stopped for a while and stared at Eiji. “You know kid, you got some potential. Perhaps one day, if ever, I need your help I will ask you again. You are special.” She took a small pouch of money and gave it to him. “Here, you deserve it. Now get out of my house”.

Eiji took it, nodded, thanked her and left. Looking back, she represented the essence of humans. This world is a jungle, and humans need to remain on top regardless of how it has to be done. This taught Eiji a lesson.
