The Girl in the Stone [Job; Aceflux]

Selah Bell. A generous memory-maker who Zenshin had met when he had first returned to Sabertooth. She offered to help him regain his handle on his magical ability, though their little escapade had been interrupted by a talking rabbit and a feisty marionette. This time was a little different as he had asked her to accompany him in investigating a rumor of some kind of odd crystal that had appeared just outside Ace of Spades. For some reason, the mage was quick to trust Selah Bell. Perhaps it was the way she so clearly exemplified one of the Sabertooth principles or that she seemingly had a strong sense of justice. Either way, he couldn't think of a better partner for the task of facing any potential dangers than the versatile Bell. With my magical power slowly returning to me, I won't be such a burden this time around. I would say that I'm about on par with her now, at least in terms of raw magical power. Maybe this time she'll answer my questions about why she knows that repugnant language he thought, awaiting just outside the city limits of Ace of Spades on the south side.

Zenshin held out his hand and recreated the rose he had seen Carter create and place on his black suit. Something felt uncanny about the rose. It wasn't quite the same as those you would normally find here in Fiore. After a couple minutes of just observing it and trying to mark the differences between it and a regular rose from Fiore which he had recreated in his other hand, the mage destroyed them both. Selah should be here any minute. he thought while sitting with his legs crossed and his back against the short stone wall that ran along the border of Ace of Spades. For some reason he got a bad feelings about these rumors and this job they were about to undertake, but he wasn't about to start making a habit of listening to his instincts.

Selah had put in a great amount of research into this crystal. It reacted strangely to magic, posed no immediate threat, and seemed to have a very small magical aura- much less so than the rest of Fiore. A magical void if you will, somehow this crystal imbedded in an onyx pillar was inert and seemingly useless. Selah wanted to investigate it, see what caused it to have such a low magical power and see if that same property could be used for the greater good. Afterall having something that sapped nearly all of something or someones power would be very useful in the right hands. But she dared not do this alone, if it something went wrong there would be noone there to back her up- so she had called in the mage Zenshin. She still had little grasp on just what his magic did as she didn't get to see it in action, it was book magic- something that she was all too familiar with due to a certain mage that jumped her on the way to the dry docks. It seemed that her name was spreading into dark guilds and drawing interest- using magic as powerful as dragons magic was a great attraction after all.

Since her and Zen's last encounter, Selah had come across a few things that were of great interest to her. Two eggs, much larger than any natural creature to lay. The first she recognized. In her travels and research into dragons she had across many dragon eggs. They were large, typically larger than her for greater dragons like the one that sent her and Sabertooths local demon on a trial to prove humans were more than just their pray. The eggs of lesser dragon were, in general, the size of a child. She had come across the egg while tracking the trail of a dragon that had recently been attacked. It  was a lyndworm, a lesser dragon that lacked legs but made up for that with grace and beauty. That egg had hatched two weeks ago, now Selah and Tanni were tight friends. Tanni still had alot to learn about the world, especially that most humans weren't to fond of dragons and vice versa.

The other egg Selah found was a mystery to her. It was half the size of Tanni's egg, and was very smooth. She picked this egg up only a couple days ago and had been carrying around on her back using a little egg carrier she made using her magic. When she arived at the site of the crystal, Selah flew on on the back of Tanni. By now Tanni had grown to around 30 feet long, pretty average for a young Lyndworm Selah had found. Selah hopped of Tanni as the lesser dragon gracefully landed in a curl. "So have you found out anything about this crystal here?" Selah asked as she approached Zenshin, looking over at it. "Who is this, Selah?" Tanni asked, her voice smooth as silk.

Disgust. That was what he felt when he set his eyes upon the beast that accompanied Bell. Upon closer inspection, he saw that the monster had no legs yet bore a striking resemblance to a dragon. Not only that, but it was also quite long. From these couple of facts, Zenshin knew that what Selah had brought with her was a dragon which explained his initial gut reaction. Though his face had instinctively scrunched up at the sight, he was careful not to let the great extent of his loathing be known. There was certainly nothing productive in that. "I'm Zenshin." he said, trying not to come off as cold or hostile. He kept eye contact with the creature for as little time as he could before looking at Selah. "I'm curious about two things. One, where on Earthland did you find a Lyndworm or Lyndworm egg. Second, is it going to tagging along with us for the job?"

As much as he didn't like the answer he felt she would give to the second question - he could, at the very least, pretend there was at least a slight possibility of the answer being no until hearing whatever form of yes that he expected. It already seemed to be familiar with her to some capacity, which more or less informed his expectations as far as his second question was concerned. The answer to his first, however, was something that he was really eager to hear. Perhaps when the job was all over he could make his way to wherever she found her dragon and exterminate the nest. "Let's walk and talk, the sooner we get this job done the less time there is for something to go horribly wrong." While they walked and spoke, his gaze would be fixated straight ahead until they arrived at the pillar which contained the massive blue diamond which sat atop the smooth onyx pillar.

His eyes were fixed on the gem. "I have learned a lot in my time as a mage. One of those things is that when any kind of gem is rooted inside a black pillar, you can expect it to be related to dark magic" he said, inspecting the fixture while being careful not to get too close.
