Sakuramori, an enchanted forest full of stories. Stories yes, but not all good. To outsiders, the forest is a wonderful and magical place with curious mysteries just waiting to be explored. To the local inhabitants, it was a place of survival and tests of courage and strength. The guild Black Rose is fond of this place, especially for bonding over battles and collecting rare resources to make things. Magical beasts have many purposes, between materials on and in their bodies, to the actual beasts themselves. Mages, bounty hunters, monster hunters, tourists: all of these could be found from time to time on the outside of the forest. The more daring ones on the inside of the forest.
One of these people was a young girl, eight years old and barely three feet tall. She wore a black dress that complimented her long raven hair and little black boots. She stepped lightly on the forest floor, tall lush green grass that had few humans disturb it. A surreal place, but these kinds of places had their reasons for being left untouched by mankind. Her reasons for being here were her own, but she knew the risks involved with going deeper into the forest. She knew of the dangers, yet she couldn't help but feel she was being watched.
Pale sunlight shown through the trees, giving luminous light to the thick forest. Just off in the distance was creeping shadows however. Some monsters were not bothered by sunlight, while others were predominantly nocturnal. Unbeknownst to Rei however, she had disturbed a nest. Just beneath the soft grass was a sleeping monster that almost hadn't felt the soft footsteps of the little girl. It was a ravenous creature though, not having eaten a substantial meal in quite some time. Even the off chance that there was something to eat above, had the lurking creature stir from its slumber.
The head of the creature slowly and quietly rose from the grass, breaking the dirt as it rose. Two red beady eyes narrowed in on the little girl with her back turned, walking away from the creature's position. Sharp ravenous teeth formed into gleeful smile as the creature realized how much of an upper hand it possessed against the unsuspecting human. One quick leap from the agile creature brought it from the ground, up into the trees. It was a feral creature, beastial and covered in fur. Its claws sank deep into the bark of the trees to hold its balance as it watched from above, waiting the perfect time to pounce down onto the human.
