Buns Ho!

Along his travels Advent had ended up in Oak town, as to why he ended up here he wasn't sure and if anyone had asked he would have likely told them he followed his feet with a happy smile. It wasn't till he had stopped in the town asking himself where he had ended up that three women had spoken up and told him that he was in Oak town. The name of the place made him smile but as of yet he didn't smell the scent of oak trees so was a little disappointed and it showed on his face as he moved his head almost as if trying to get his bearings which in this case was actually what he was doing regardless of the black fabric he wore over his eyes.

It was then he remembered that one of the women had said "As princess said this is Oak town" that he tilted his head almost in confusion, he knew he had little room to talk given when he introduced himself he used 'Advent' instead of his real name but still he found it strange that someone would want to be called 'princess' but he managed to keep that comment to himself barely by letting out a sigh last thing he wanted was to be hit for insulting someone again.

Quickly he forgot about the people around him as he lifted his head up a little and began to sniff at the air quietly to those around him he may have looked strange, but that didn't bother him to much seeing to him they were quite strange themselves and really had no place to judge someone without first getting to know them, not that it was an easy task to get close to him even if you had been around him for a while he kept a lot about himself secret almost like it was a primal fear to let anyone know the true him, how could he... if they knew everything they would see the darkness, the poison, the taint... they would see the monster that he would one day become.

Shaking his head a little he didn't want to think about how his existence had been pathed instead he wanted to live in a time that he could control, then it dawned on him "Why is this place called oak town? I don't smell any oak trees" he said with a puzzled tone, if he had known what false advertising was he would likely have marched to the mayor of the town's home or city hall claiming it and demanding that the city be changed due to it, luckily for everyone this was not the case. He moved a little away from the people as another seemed to land on the one called 'princess' hearing her yell for the other to get off her he couldn't help but burst into laughter glad that he was there to witness it in his own way. "Oh wow... Couldn't have timed coming here at any better a time" he continued to laugh

Though amusing to him he knew that eventually that it would become boring, but not at current since the way the one called 'princess' was acting trying to get the green haired man off her and for now seemed like she was failing no matter how much she was yelling which added to the comedy to the point he ended up falling to his knees in laughter but that soon stopped as he heard something standing he dusted himself off and waved back to the small group though not actually knowing any of their names he had a feeling that he would come across them again in the future and thought it would be best to walk away civilly than without even a goodbye. It was true he should have helped 'princess' out by picking the man up but the situation was just to funny he just left them as is.

He had no idea where he was in the town or even where he was going but he was wanting to learn more about the area and why there was little to no trees around. Walking around he listened to the goings on almost walking into a few walls and doors thanks to not be giving the information required "If you don't tell me when this stuff is going to happen then I will need to find an item to help me move in front of me so I can find the obsticals" he said honestly it was starting to become a problem because he wasn't use to this place add to that he was a mage so he'd end up in situations where he would need rely on them or he would die "Don't start this! You aren't helping me when it's obvious I need it! You know what I'm going home!" he said walking away getting some strange looks as he seemed to be talking to himself

He continued to walk away from the spot he seemed to have his tantrum his face showed he was annoyed about what had just happened. The unseen forces around him had always forbid him to use something like a stick to help him feel for objects and things blocking his ways it was always the same thing they said. He knew he had a sever disadvantage compared to someone who could see and wasn't allowed to use anything to compensate which annoyed the hell out of him especially since they didn't really help unless his life was in danger but even then sometimes they didn't. To him when that kind of thing happened they were cruel but it was something he was use to but this right now it was harder since he was out of his element.

He had continued walking the whole time not caring where he was going he just wanted to be away from them, all of them which was a bad idea at the best of time but he didn't care he wanted of this continent and to go back home where he knew things and everything seemed to have an order that even his screwed up mind understood. Sighing he leaned against a wall knowing that going back wasn't the best idea but still it was something that he wanted to do regardless if it was in his best interest or not.

Collecting himself after a few minutes he pushed off the wall sighing realising he was acting like an idiotic child and he knew that he was anything but, he just got so annoyed at times that he couldn't stop himself acting in such a manner especially since sometimes they treated him like and other times they left him to do as he would so he got mixed signals. "There's no escape from you lot is there, you need hobbies that aren't me" he sighed in frustration his hands going up in surrender he didn't want to argue with them that was for sure not over this because he would just get the same lecture and he could do without it right now.

Walking away from the wall he couldn't help but notice the smells had changed finally "Am I in a different section of this town?" he asked himself following his nose almost tripping over things he tried to keep his cool but that was quickly fading "Come on, be merciful for a change it's obvious I need help" he stated his voice showing he was becoming more and more frustrated over the situation. Soon his he was avoiding things as he was walking much to his relief last thing he wanted to do was fall over and have people stare at him because of doing so. He never understood why sometimes he could avoid things without their help and other times he needed the help but he was sure that over time he would improve and need to rely on them less and less.

He walked around for a little trying to figure things out but soon came to a stop as he heard a commotion deciding to listen to the goings on as silly as it may have been he was curious and that made him push through the crowed a little "Banquet..." he asked with a bit of a puzzled tone not fully understanding what it was after all he only ever took what he needed and returned what was left so that the cycle could continue as it should "Why would anyone want or need that?" he turned his head a little as if asking the person next to him, the man who paid the teen no mind as he spoke "Seems like a waste if you ask me... wait what do you eat at these things?" he didn't exactly know and as soon as he heard the answer he couldn't help but cringe.

"Why would anyone want to eat the flesh of another living being? it be like eating your own arm!" he exclaimed, the man beside him now took notice of him and what he said grunting in disapproval at how the he reacted to the whole thing. Advent didn't care what others thought on his opinions it just seemed weird and somewhat disgusting to eat flesh off an animal if you wouldn't be willing to do it to another human.

He pushed forward through the crowed wondering exactly why there was one of these horrible things going on and why there was such a ruckess about such a thing. Getting to the front he was surprised to see that the banquet was being cancelled due to not having enough people to help on it, he found himself biting his bottom lip for a moment as he thought not even understanding why he was even thinking what he was "Excuse me, what was this thinger for?" he asked the person apologising about the cancellation "It's for the mayors daughters birthday" he found someone beside himself answer turning to face him he blinked "Her moon cycle has came back around?" he asked not completely understanding

The person found what the white haired youth said as rather odd "Um, if that means the day of her birth then yes. She's sixteen and she's always had a banquet at this restaurant it's her favourite from what everyone understands" the person tried to explain. His head tilted as if he was listening to another person and nodded "Sixteen is a big number, I understand" he said walking up to the person in front of the restaurant "Can I help? Seems like sixteen's a big deal" his voice innocent as he spoke, he didn't like the thought of cooking flesh or even smelling it but he wanted to do something special since it seemed like a lot of people including the birthday girl herself was looking forward to it.

The man looked at the youth up and down with a quirked eye brow "We could use the help, but are you sure you can manage this due to.." "What is it with everyone and seeing the blindfold? Yes I am blind but I have been able to manage" he interrupted the man before sighing it was getting on his nerves how people couldn't get past the damn thing. He bowed his head "I am sorry for snapping, it's been a rough few months for me, you did not deserve the harshness. Please allow me to help" he said gently almost afraid that the owner would refuse due to his outburst.

The man was caught off guard with just how abrupt the white hair youth had been about been about his disability, but somehow also found it refreshing that he said that though blind he could manage to do things. It surprised him how the youths temperament changed from somewhat hostile to apologetic in the blink of an eye but he could tell that he was sincere in his words. "You're lucky we really need the help or I would say no... just don't cause issues" the man warned as he walked inside with Advent in toe "I won't, I'll make something special you'll be glad you gave me the chance" he said calmly with a smile on his face.

The man was walking through the lavishly furnished and decorated dining room, it was now he stopped curling his toes a little feeling the carpet under his toes not use to the texture of it "Carpet... got it" he whispered nodding almost as if he was understanding something that was being told to him. It felt odd to him and almost revelled in the strange texture the woven material beneath the feet. He had no idea that he had fallen behind until the man coughed bringing advent out of his day dream and quickly moving to where he was "Oh yeah, sorry... My name is Advent" remembering that he hadn't introduced himself to the man that was currently employing him now, feeling rather embarrassed that he hadn't done so earlier.

"Advent? Hm? Strange name" he commented one of his eyebrows raising "Strange name for a strange person" He retorted with a grin showing no signs of being insulted by the other, he knew he was different but he was taught that difference didn't make him a bad person and on the whole it could be used to his advantage as he would be underestimated as the poor crazy kid. Advent wasn't fully crazy but he was at least some of the way there but then if a person truly knew him and understood his background it was unlikely that they would have blamed him for his mannerisms and quirks

The man led advent out of the grand dinning hall and down a corridor, as they continued walking advent took notes to the smells and the loud noises. When he recognised the smell of meat being cooked he tried to prevent himself from covering his nose due to it making him feel ill and wanting to throw up, he managed for a short time but soon his hands covered his face and nose "How can anyone eat flesh?" he questioned again almost as if the thought offended him which in part it did, but he knew he would have to swallow his objections at least for a little while and get the task done, after all the quicker he done it the quicker he could leave.

The man paid little attention to the white haired youths ramblings about eating flesh, he was however starting to regret agreeing to hire him, but then what other option did he have given that this banquet had been booked for months, to say that he couldn't do it would humiliate and ruin him and all the work he had put in over the years. Advent might have been strange but he had offered to help when no other had so needed to have faith that he could pull a miracle from thin air that would save him from the frying pan.

The man walked into the kitchen advent following closely after his nose wrinkling as he smelt the meat being cooked, even though he had wanted to try and pretend it didn't bother him it really did to the point he felt like he was going to throw up right there and then. "I can do this, I can do this... they are entitled to be uncivilised animal eaters if they want" he whispered to himself making sure that no one could hear his words, he still shuddered though but stopped as he was spoken to as he was in a world of his own he didn't even catch what was said to him until he was notified "Oh, no I've never cooked before" he said honestly which he was sure he heard a sigh from what he believed was the owner of the place.

"How are you going to be of any use if you've never cooked?!" the man complained sounding distressed at the same time. Advent understood that he was under a lot of pressure given that this was for an important client but that didn't mean he should be so hysterical after all how hard could cooking really be? "Don't worry, I'll do fine so longs I'm kept away from the cooking flesh" he stated almost sternly that caught the manager off guard again "Yeah, sure whatever" he seemed to be concerned that the blind kid that had no experience seemed to think he would be able to do this with no trouble.

Advent moved to a work space that wasn't in used and moved around picking up equipment and ingredients he believed that he would need for what he wanted to make, there was no way on earth he was going to make something with anything to do with animals due to being vegan himself there would have been no way he would be able to taste it as he made the things. He knew due to his own eating habits it made his options far more restricting but he believed that when he did pull it off that it would be something spectacular not that he wanted the praise he just wanted to show you could make good food without annoying or disrupting animals.

Placing the things he collected down he bit his lip and began to wash his hands and the things that he could knowing that was just basic common sense because no one wants to fall sick or eat dirt. He done it once when he was young and quickly learned the error of his way and began to wash everything before eating it not wanting another stomach ache. Taking his freshly washed vegetables and began to peel and chop them up to make a vegetable soup humming to himself as it seems to be quite easy to him.

Once done he placed everything into a large pot he collected and started to make a vegetable stock, his head bobbing from side to side almost like he was listening to music as he worked on the task at hand before stopping his head going to someone else who was being given into trouble for burning a boar "Poor thing" he stated to himself and he wasn't talking about the person being yelled at. Covering his nose he walked forward and poked the boar sighing a little as he whispered something under his breath "It's not ruined you know" he stated his head looking at the two the yelling instantly stopping.

"What do you mean it's not ruined?" the head of the kitchen glanced at the blindfolded boy who he hadn't seen before "Well it's ruined in it's current state, why not just make it into a stew" he stated with a shrug moving back to where how stock was coming to the boil and poured it into the pot with the vegetables which he placed on simmer so that everything would blend well together as he placed in herbs and spices almost as if he didn't care as he didn't even stop to check what they were but when finished he placed a lid on happy to start on the next course though he had no idea what he was going to do since everyone else was using meat or animal products.

Leaning forward he couldn't help but sigh as he came to the realisation that this one would be far more difficult than the things others where doing because they had more variety open to them due to using animals but he just couldn't it sickened him to even think that. Scratching the side of his head he tapped his hand on the counter as he thought "Well I could do a vegetable curry but that would be a bit of a cheat given that I made a vege- OH!" he stopped himself mid thought as he grinned going to get flour,  some sunflower spread and a few other things starting to make dough as if he was making bread.

Once that was out of the way he moved to chop up more vegetables and placed them into a pot while making a mid level spiced curry sauce once again bobbing his head he was content with what he planned but it had the others looking at him like he was crazy for going for something so similar until he brought the set dough up and rolled it placing some of the curried vegetables inside covering them continuing to do that until both where completely gone a lot set aside to be cooked when ordered though he placed one in the oven because he knew it would have to be tested.

As he waited for that to cook he smiled contently if his eyes could be seen they would be shimmering as he knew exactly what he would make for a dessert going around getting everything he needed once more he started to make what he needed for the steam buns placing some unknown fruits and berries that almost glimmered as if they where made of gems. He was quite cautious because he didn't want anyone to see what he was doing but managed to make double what he did of the vegetable curry filled rolls a happy smile on his face as he placed a few into steam while he moved to make what seemed like a glowing, glinting sauce that he placed into a small bowl before bringing out the curry bun and placing it on a plate.

After he done this he poured out a bowl of the soup and placed it next to the bun while he waited for the steam buns to be finished. When it was he placed them into the sauce he created stretching afterwards. He was proud of himself for what he had managed to pull off given it wasn't exactly an easy task for him to keep his mind on. What made him concentrate was the want to get away from the stench of the cooking meat, and at current he wanted to undress and burn his clothes because he was afraid that the smell would have seeped into them and he couldn't bare that on any level that was for sure.

Advent remained quiet not wanting to disturb anyone while they worked though eventually the man that hired him to help because of the short handedness walked over seeing him not doing anything but stretching as if he has nothing better to do, which in this case was correct since he had finished what he wanted to give to the banquet. "Don't you have things to be doing?" the man said sternly to Advent who stood up straight almost instantly "Well, no... I've done everything I want to give to the banquet thing" he retorted pointing to everything "I even made sample plates so you don't have to send things out if your not happy with them. I was told that was what I should do" he said honestly moving his hand to hold out cutlery so the man might try.

The man looked at the three dishes almost astonished at how they looked and smelled, his eyes were drawn to the dessert instantly at how it seemed to almost glow like pure moonlight "You can't try dessert until you try the others" advent pouted like a child, he was continuously being told off for that and this was no exception to the matter. The man sighed moving the spoon into the soup his eyes widening in surprise as it was full of flavour and the spices and herbs blended well to make it refreshing but leave you wanting the next bite.

After taking a few more bites he took a drink of water "That soup was delicious!" he exclaimed before taking a look to what seemed like a plain roll and quirked an eyebrow "Is that some sort of joke?" he asked his tone showing he wasn't amused at what he seen in front of him "No, I made it that way so you could sell it as take out food without needing utensils... it's a vegetable curry bun" he said confused as to why the other would take offence to something he hadn't even tried yet. Then again this whole thing was revolting and confusing him so he didn't really mind the way the other acted so longs as he could get out of there soon.

"A curry bun?" he seemed confused at the concept as he picked it up almost eyeing it up as if it was some sort of new and strange food from a far off land "Yes, you make the bun as normal let it set, when set you roll it out a little put in whatever filling you want, in this case vegetable curry and then cover it placing it into an oven to cook" he said shrugging allowing the man to taste it like before he was astounded at just how well it tasted even more so as the bread of the bun had been seasoned to compliment what was in the centre even mellowing out the spices a bit he was truly surprised at what a blind boy had come up with when his fully trained staff often struggled with some foods.

The man ate the whole bun truly enjoying every bite that he had, savouring the flavours as he did so. He was surprised that Advent had given him something unique that could help business wither he had known it or not, either way he wasn't about to complain about the unique selling point that he had been given "That was enjoyable and if the dough was sweetened it could could make a wonderful or refreshing dessert" he said the ideas running through his mind, he found it strange that his chef of twenty years hadn't thought of something so simple but a person with no experience had. Advent didn't really care to be honest which was clearly shown when he shrugged, he just made something that was easy for him to eat instead of messing around with utensils which annoyed him to no end.

"I made something that could me easily made in mass and that someone like myself could eat without having to worry about mess and stuff" his voice seemed somewhat distant as he yawned getting bored. He just wanted out of this place though tried his best to wait it though all he had to do was wait to see if the third item would be approved and then he could move on if it wasn't he would try again until it was but he didn't see why the last one wouldn't be if the first two had been.

Placing the paper down that had the curry bun had been in so he didn't grease up or burn his fingers, he understood why Advent made it the way it had been and it was indeed clever. It also meant that they could have something to sell for people who weren't as wealthy as their normal customers. Finally he picked up a spoon looking to the glowing bowl and peered into it seeing the steamed dumplings in the glowing glimmering sauce and was kind of cautious unsure on wither or not he wanted to actually and eat it. "Is there something wrong?" Advent asked confused as he picked up a spoon himself cutting into one of the dumplings allowing the glinting fruit and juice flow free as he took a bite showing the other that there was nothing to worry about.

The man was confused seeing advent eat some as if it was nothing "What is this?" he asked, Advent shrugged "I just call it glimmer glow buns" he said as if he was uninterested allowing the man to eat one his eyes going wide as splash taste hit his taste buds "These are so good! How do you make them?" he asked excitedly wanting to know the secret "Sorry but I refuse to give the recipe because it's not mine to give" he said gently starting walking off out of the kitchen now that he forfilled the requirements of what he had agreed to.

As Advent moved out of the kitchen he bent forward taking a deep breath as it was almost as if he hadn't really been breathing as freely as he should have, but inside the kitchen near the scent of searing and cooking flesh even though animal truly almost made him sick several times over so started breathing through his mouth and even then the breaths had been shallow which had left him light headed so slid down the wall enjoying what was clean air in his opinion but then to him a sewage waste site would have been fresh air compared to the kitchen so was happy.

he looked up feeling vibrations his head tilting to the side "are you sure I can't buy these recipes" the man said advent's eyes rolling behind his blindfold "Quite sure" he replied standing a gentle smile on his face "there should be enough made for the banquet tonight, which I wish you the best on" just as he was about to turn a pouch was placed in his hand "It's not much but it's a thank you for all your hard work" advent nodded "The pleasure was mine" he stated heading down the hall and out of the door heading for something interesting to do.
