Beneath the lake lay a dormant body, floating silently and peacefully as the water life around it swam about its business. Fish wove and fluttered around the weightless being, nipping and nibbling at the fabric that barely covered the body. The arms of her bodice were tightly pressed to her torso, each hand gripping onto her shoulders as though for dear life. Ashen hair floated around her, dancing and weaving with the seaweed that tickled at her back and tangled with her hair. Blued lips were partially opened, like she had just let out her last breath, and all dirt that had once touched her skin had now washed away. All that was left was a beauty resting against the sands of the lake's floor, wasting away beneath the waters to once again form with the Earthland. Yet, little did this passed away woman know that a man came on his way to take her up from the waters and restore to her life.
All around her, the lake's blue waters pulsated with a strange, evanescent glow, illuminated by a light source gone unseen. It pulsated like a heartbeat, scaring away the fish into the deeper depths of the water, wherever the unknown light couldn't reach. The light washed over her tanned skin, lighting it aglow with an eerie essence as the waters bubbled and coiled at the light. Odd markings that were bore across the woman's skin radiated with the same eerie light glow as the lake's waters. And for a moment, the sound of a heartbeat echoed through the thickness of the water, beating softly and slowly. Ripples of water echoed along its surface, mimicking that of a heartbeat as the light continued to grow in brightness. Before long, the lake's own water looked not like the murky ugliness that it had once been, but a crystal clear hue.
Hazy eyes flashed open beneath the waves, glowering in the darkness of the waters despite how bright the waters had become. Her body began to rise on its own, not as though she were alive, but as though it was being lifted to the surface by currents. The fingers of one hand twitched ever so slightly, then extended and peeled away from where they had been gripped. This was followed by the other hand, both dropping away to her sides and hanging down toward the lake's depths. Soon, her face broke the surface, and the moment that her face touched the frigid air of Ace of Spades, she gasped for breath. Life exploded through out her body, dulling the blueness of her lips and giving color to her cheeks as she came back to life. Yet, the one who had brought her to life? They were nowhere to be seen, having left her to float in the lake.
Weakly, Kanix moved through the waters, wafting a little as she made her way to the shoreline of the lake. When her fingers touched the warm sand, she pulled herself up and out of the water, flopping to the ground below. She lay there for a moment, breathing heavily and letting the effects of the resurrection take a hold of her. The markings on her body still lit aglow and as she lay there, the ashen color of her hair began to slowly fade away into snow white. Sightless, blue eyes stared up at the sky, her body far too weak for her to do much more moving than just breathing. But she could not stay where she was, she had to leave this place, find somewhere that she could go for food and warmth. However, she did not know where, for as far as she was concerned, the world had assumed her to be dead.
Slowly, the woman rolled onto her stop and then to her knees, pushing herself up to her feet where she stumbled and struggled to walk. She had no plans or ideas on where she wanted to end up, but she just let her feet carry her where they wanted to go. Each step changed from the soft sand to the prickly grass that she hadn't felt in days, to the cobblestone streets of Ace of Spades. Voices were loud, echoing into her ears like grates being scratched upon and she wanted to cry out in pain, but could not find her voice. Far too weak than to even make a sound, her only goal was to get somewhere and find someone who could help her. Though, her body was beginning to fail her, unable to take many more steps and shaking with effort to get anywhere. Kanix's body soon gave in and she collapse to her knees at the foot of the floating castle that would be Sabertooth.
She didn't understand why, but a single word ran through her head and she was able to hoarsely say the name, "Mashyuu," before collapsing fully to the ground.
