Personality: Mischievous, mysterious and motivated by an interest for adventure and study. These are the core principles that definite the personality of Maxim. Filled with the pursuit of knowledge no matter what the cost is, and the location and securing of ancient books and scrolls to prevent them falling into the hands of those who would seek harm on others, him included. He becomes pretty aggressive when it comes to the people touching old scrolls and books with their grubby mitts. Each one should be handled with care and with using levitation spells.
His pursuit of knowledge can only be described as inane, and maybe even dangerous at times. He is happy to put himself or others in risk to make sure that all puzzles and problems are cleared. If that means an ardent or accidental sacrifice? then so be it. As long as the ends justify the means then it would mean the end met. Maxim doesn’t mind what the complications and the tiny details that may try and get in the way of anything.
A complete bookworm, however preferring more towards non-fiction and at the same time is fascinated with exploring tales and legends. He is usually studying up on urban legends of an area, or experiments and adventures of others. He is usually carrying a journal either from a recently published study or from a dead adventurer he comes across. Either is pretty fulfilling to read.
Maxim is usually friendly and his eccentrics shines when it comes to meeting others. He doesn’t try and show off, but is happy to use his magic to the fullest extent to comfort people when needed. But he’s also incredibly laid back and not really nervous around anybody. He reacts curiously to people and doesn’t mind asking questions regarding something he finds interesting about people. He radiates his bookworm behaviour often, relating things to books he has read or stories he had come across.
While battle isn’t his most favourite experience, and he would prefer to just get through obstacles with his knowledge through reading, he doesn’t mind combat. However, he doesn’t really like to lead all that much. It’s just a little bit too much work trying to gauge people’s personalities (psychology books are a little too much to take in). And he never sees himself as a commander, but more of an advisor and someone who can try and see many different paths. He isn’t headstrong, and doesn’t like to rush into battle. Instead he prefers to toy with his enemies for a little while before ending them.
As a follower Maxim isn’t aloof and will follow orders as much as his eccentric personality allows him too. He prefers to talk a lot so being made to be stealthy or quiet doesn’t really work too well. But his knowledge on things that would be found in books would provide some kind of useful information.
In the end Maxim just wants to find cool books, enjoy himself and doesn’t really seem to care what the consequences are when it comes to progress of knowledge or finding ancient knowledge.
Likes: Books: Myths, Legends and non-fiction especially. These kinds of stories are the ones that can’t be proven without exploring and learning about the world.
Adventure: Maxim likes to go out on adventures and try and find artefacts. Going to on quests that have been around for a long time without completion is especially exciting.
Artefacts: Ancient tomes, runic swords, you name it! If it’s old and probably has the powers to summon destruction of the world you bet he’s interested in finding it… though not necessarily holding them.
Dislikes: Rain: It’s annoying, and it gets all over your clothes. It can damage old books and rust ancient artefacts. Not good at all!
Fire: Again damages clothes and ruins books. Noticing a theme here?
Distractions: When reading or exploring, or even anything in the world if there is an outside and unprovoked distraction then it’s more of a nuisance than anything.
Motivations: Create the older library of books: To locate and contain the oldest and rarest tomes within the world and house then for personal and scholarly use.
To prove a legend to be true: To find a legend or myth to be true. Whether it’s from a quest or word of mouth. Urban myths don’t count.
To pass on knowledge through an apprentice: Just like he once had a master, he would want to pass his magic and knowledge down to the next person.
Fears: Losing his mind: Losing some or all of his mind is a deep dark fear. Losing the will to explore and learn.
Losing purpose: Despite all his motivations what he fears is actually completing everything he set out to do.
The Unknown: Not knowing what the far future will hold, and if he has a bigger part to play does weigh in the back of his mind.
