Soul
Species: SpiritType: Combat Pet
Description: A Soul is given to every member of Shadow Wing by the Guild Master Shen with some help from his Shinigami partner. Each is the spirit of a deceased member of Shadow Wing who has lived many years ago when Shen first became the master of the guild. They have varying personalities but will always remain loyal to the guild and not serve mages who betray or leave the guild. Each soul is customizable and has the potential to be upgraded in to something much more fearsome.
Abilities:
- Intangible: Each Soul is a ghost and therefore cannot be harmed by any physical means. They can also become invisible and phase through walls which is handy when trying to spy on someone or thing. Unless an opposing mage has some sort of spirit manipulation magic, they cannot be harmed in any way.
- After-Realm Communication: Each Soul is capable of going in and out of the Afterlife, as well as communicating with their owners telepathically allowing Ghosts to send messages to other ghosts over long distances almost instantaneously. Shadow Wing uses this form of communication well as these messages cannot be intercepted by any means other than traveling to the Afterlife, from which a mage is most likely not able to return.
- Possession: Souls are capable of possessing preexisting pets in order to transform them in to something which appears more fearsome. This allows mages to Upgrade their existing pet in to a more Ghostly version of their old pet which will allow for some neat tricks, but would mean they'd have to limit the pets already existing abilities for balance. A souls loyalty still applies here and if the owner of the Soul leaves Shadow Wing, the soul will detach itself from the possessed pet.
- Melding: A mage is capable of feeding a soul magical power in order to mutate it. For the cost of a Strong or Legendary pet, a mage can upgrade the Soul in to something far more powerful and useful that can be used in combat as an alternative to using possession. Once the Melding process has been completed, possession is no longer an option.
