Mashyuu in: A Horse with No Name!

Job Details:

"BEWARE THE SCORPION OF DOOM! BEWARE THE MONSTERS IN THE DESERT!" A man with a large blue nose, dressed in a red and white striped shirt with blue pants screamed out to anyone who was listening, his arms spread wide while he walked up to two passer bye's. The two that were walking were none other than Sabertooth's own, Mashyuu the God Slayer and Itsu the undead expert. Normally the pair wouldn't have cared about weather or not some nut was screaming about danger in the desert but what he shouted next really got their attention. Mashyuu may have made a mistake when he glanced at the man with blue hair and the man spotted the attention. "You! You there! You will help me, won't you!? I can offer treasure to you for helping me collect the remains of my caravan. All you have to do is keep me safe so that I don't get stabbed by another giant scorpion or maybe something worse." The man with the blue nose pleaded and offered to Mashyuu and Itsu. The pair looked at one another and both seemed to think it over for only a moment. Then Mashyuu looked back at the man and started to ask a few questions. "You got a name buddy? How can we be sure you can pay? How far out are we headed?" The man smiled wide, almost looking like a clown as he did so. "Yes, yes. These are good questions to ask and I can answer them. My name is Captain Buggy. I'm a pirate you see and I... well I can't pay you until we find my treasure. There is a chance that you won't make any money on this at all but maybe the chance to fight a creature that you haven't fought before would excite a Sabertooth Wizard such as yourself?The trip would only take a day or so at most. That is both ways. I was drugged on my way back and I sort of lost track of time but I lost everything and made it back in the same day, or so I'm told." Mashyuu frowned but understood that sometimes you needed help. Who was he to tell this down on his luck man no? "Alright Buggy. You have yourself a deal."

The gates to the village burst open and a large sand skimmer shot out of the village, Mashyuu running behind hit. Buggy stood at the helm of the sand ship with a sail above him, catching wind to drag the small ship across the sand. Mashyuu's bare feet pushed off the ground, his enhanced speed carried him along at the side of the ship while Itsu rested on the side of the ship, happily smiling and looking at where the group was going. "I'll give you three chests of whatever we find. You pick the chests before opening them and when we get everything I'll appraise what you chose!" Buggy shouted out to Mashyuu, the man with the sword on his hilt gave the pirate a thumbs up. The sun beat down on the group while it moved to its highest position in the sky, making it seem almost impossibly hot to the trio, even Mashyuu who was used to the heat of lava and hot sand was feeling his mouth dry out and his glands lose the ability to sweat after only an hour of running. His body slowed down and he started to drag his feet. Buggy, being the pirate he was, knew to always carry at least one bottle of water on him at any given time and tossed one over at Mashyuu, doing what he could to keep his guards energy up. Silently Mashyuu caught it and stepped on a snakes head, crushing it as he continued down the seemingly endless sandy sea. Apparently they were looking for some old ruins that were half buried under the ground thanks to many sand drifts that had occurred over the years. Buggy was ambushed by some sort of large creatures there and as he ran, losing his treasure he was attacked by bandits as well. It made Mashyuu sad to think that someone would be robbed in an area that people needed to work together to survive in but then again the world was a terrible and cruel place at times.

As the sand skimmer sped past Mashyuu, the Wizard stopped and looked under him. The vibrations the sand ship sent through the ground allowed Mashyuu to sense a wooden structure, or at least the shape of something under ground that reminded the Slayer of a treasure chest. Mashyuu stopped and took a step back while he put his palms together and slowly moved them apart as if he were pushing water apart. The Sand rolled and shifted apart while the chest under it came up from the ground. "HEY! ITSU COME PUT THIS ON THE SKIMMER!" Mashyuu shouted back to the woman who was slowly moving ahead of the Slayer. Itsu waved at Mashyuu and teleported next to him, grabbed the chest and telported back to the ship. He could have moved it himself but the man felt like the group was being watched. He turned his glowing blue gaze to the path they had come from and looked out for a long moment. Something was out there, watching them but he could't tell what it was. Perhaps after he had moved on a bit or recovered from the heat a tad he would be able to deal with whatever it was that was bugging him or at least following the Wizards.

Slowly Mashyuu turned back to face the sand skimmer and let the sand under him roll up to move the Earth God Slayer along the ground to keep up with the skimmer. Suddenly the ground around the skimmer and Mashyuu started to quake and Buggy went wide eyed with fear while shouting. "Sand Whale!" He pointed ahead of them some twenty meters and tried to pull his said to avoid a massive shadow that was appearing under the sand as if it was water and a whale was starting to rise.

What was a Sand Whale? Mashyuu wondered for a few moments up until the point that a massive beast jumped up from the sand, and for a moment eclipsed the sun as if it were a moon. The monster leveled its head to aim its spout at the ship and Sand started to roar from the hole. Mashyuu rushed to stand before the ship and opened his mouth. As he inhaled the God Slayer felt his eyes shut and the sand that was used to attack with swirl around him flow into his body, giving him a boost in magical power that he hadn't had in days. A wide grin spread over his face while the Sand Whale dove back into the sand and started to swim. "Okay, lets go. Buggy, get this thing moving, Mashyuu will catch up!" Itsu shouted at the captain. Buggy didn't give it a second thought and as soon as Mashyuu had moved out of the way, set the ship into a sailing motion, shooting the ship across the desert. Mashyuu let his glowing blue eyes follow the shadow of the whale that flowed under ground, swimming like the sand was water. The Earth God shifted his feet around to keep himself ready to move should the sand creature try to attack with its massive body. This wouldn't take long if Mashyuu was smart about when he struck, the last time it was above them the God Slayer spotted a strange wound on its body that he planned on exploiting. Mashyuu felt the ground spread under him and the Wizard exploded into a pile of sand, avoiding the Whales tackling strike. Mashyuu formed back to his human state just below it and slashed his right arm up while shouting. "Earth Gods Combo: Part Three!" The Slayer's arm exploded into sand, forming a massive scythe that dug through the wound across the whale's belly, spilling its guts from its body as the whale crashed down across either side of Mashyuu's body, leaving him slightly showered in blood.

The whale fell around Mashyuu, littering him in a mess of blood and guts. The Wizard took a deep breath of air and glanced to either side of him. He had disposed of the monster fairly quickly and was starting to feel like he was in the effective zone when it was all said and done still he drew his blade, as he could smell that something was coming for him, and it happened to be a lot of something. From inside the two halves of the whales six figures exposed themselves, dressed in gear that would easily protect anyone from the heat of the land and its harsh conditions. The six men looked at one another while Mashyuu stood between them. All at once they reached for their belts and drew simple blades from their small scabbards. Mashyuu sighed, knowing that he was about to fight again and really wasn't up to dealing with anyone else at the moment. He needed to find Itsu and Buggy to make sure the two were safe and make sure he wasn't about to get lost. "Guys, or maybe girls...Can we not do this right now? I'm really tired and could use just a bit of water. Besides, I freed you from that whale. Maybe we can call it even for that reason alone?" Mashyuu asked while his sword flared up with light as if it were about to blind anyone who looked upon the brilliant weapon. No words were spoken but the men all started to surround Mashyuu and glared at the Earth God. "No deal buddy, how about instead you give us your valuables like that sword, and we won't gut you." The apparent leader of the men stated while the others snickered with dark joy. Mashyuu shrugged and took up his Mountain Stance. "Alright, but that was your chance to walk away without needing help."

The six men all charged Mashyuu and the Wizard couldn't help but sigh with annoyance, he had to move around and these guys were gonna make him use magic he didn't want to use. "Light Dragon's Domain: Transition!" He called out. Mashyuu pointed to the man coming at him head on and as the group charged Mashyuu and the man changed places in the blink of an eye. Five daggers ripped into the leaders body and were pulled out, spilling blood that stained the sand under him. "Wha- What happened?" The man asked then fell to his knees while clutching his open wounds as best as he could before he fell to the ground and hit the floor hard. Mashyuu winced, not expecting the others to be so ruthless in their stabbing actions. It was then that the God Slayer understood that these men weren't playing around. All five men were upon Mashyuu in a moment and the Earth Wizard used his blade to deflect strikes rapidly, repelling the attacks that the men decided to throw Mashyuu's way. The men recoiled and started to make blocking motions as Mashyuu countered by pulling his blade back while side stepping. It flared up with massive power as Mashyuu called out. "Kings Cleave!" He announced while swinging his blade out towards the group, of thieves, ripping through their flesh and burning them harshly. The men were blown back a few paces while Mashyuu whipped his weapon around his his palm and spun on the sand, he reached out and stabbed the leg of one bandit, not killing him but dropping the man in order to keep him from continuing the fight. Excalibur had truly done what it was intended to do when the weapon was made. The Earth God then pushed his left hand out and commanded. "Earth Gods Combo: Part One!" Three pillars of stone shot up and drove hard into the body of the next man in the group, driving the air out of his lungs and knocked him out cold. Three down, three to go.

In a quick set of attacks and good spell work Mashyuu managed to deal with three of the six bandits, dropping them in a matter of seconds, but to the men involved in battle those seconds seemed like minutes. Mashyuu tossed his blade into the air, the brilliant golden energy faded as the weapon flipped through the air and flared up again the moment Mashyuu caught the weapon and pointed the blade down towards the ground. The three men with daggers all took a step back, clearly they had started a fight with someone who they shouldn't have. Mashyuu inhaled the sand under him and wiped his mouth, ridding himself of some of the pressure his magical usage had put on the Wizard. Mashyuu rapidly took a series of steps forward and spun on his feet, cutting the chest of one man, sending the man falling backwards in order to try to evade a killing blow from Mashyuu, who wasn't about to deal such a death strike to begin with. The other two decided to take the chance to lunge at Mashyuu, one blade digging into the shoulder of the Slayer, drawing blood while ripping the brown gi of the God Slayer. Mashyuu winced and yanked his arm up, pulling the dagger out of the attackers hand while he side stepped another slash and at the same time pulled his blade up, using the hilt to uppercut a man in the jaw, knocking teeth loose and sent him falling to the floor. Now two men were recovering while another had no weapon. Mashyuu dropped his sword in the sand and screamed. "AHHHHH!" A golden light flared up around Mashyuu and healed the wound in his shoulder while he ripped the dagger out of his arm and tossed it into the hand of one of the men on the ground. The blade dug deep and cut the man, drawing blood but did nothing else to stop him from fighting.

Mashyuu changed places with the man standing right as the man with a dagger in his hand pulled the blade out and hurled it, instead of hitting Mashyuu it drove into the chest of the other thief, knocking him over as the blade dug deep just below his collar bone. The man fell to his knees and then to his side. Mashyuu dropped to the a single knee and placed his palm to the sandy ground. "Earth Gods Explosive Field!" He called out, causing the ground under the two men still conscious. The ground exploded under the men, the resulting blast knocked the two out cold, leaving them helpless to Mashyuu's actions. Instead of killing them though Mashyuu walked over to the men and started to search them taking a head wrapping and light robe from the men to protect Mashyuu from the heat. On one of the men he found a sack of jewels that looked like they belonged to Captain Buggy. The man shoved the sack into the fold of his robe and picked up his blade to hold it inside the belt that kept his robe shut then wandered off towards the trail that the sand skimmer had made....

The Sand Skimmer jumped a small ramp of sand that threw the ship high into the air before it rolled down a large hill, picking up speed before it stopped at the bottom of the hill. Itsu had been fighting off a trio of thieves with her dagger, rapidly moving her arm about to deflect strike after strike. She spun around while dropping to a knee and cut the thigh of one man, not doing a massive amount of damage to the man but hampered him a bit. Itsu used the ram skull on her head and slammed it into the mans groin, knocking him backwards and off the skimmer while Buggy used a lacrima to put wind in the sail of the ship, keeping it moving.

The Sand Skimmer stopped at the half buried Ruins that was hidden by years of sand that was blown to cover the area. As soon as it stopped Buggy twisted and started to pull the sail in so that the ship wouldn't move any further thanks to any wind. While he did that Itsu continued to battle the other two bandits that slashed at her with their short daggers. Itsu in that time managed to kick her leg out to crack into the knee of one man then stood up and slammed the hilt of her black dagger into the jaw of the man, dropped the weapon and stepped on the pommel, driving the blade into the foot of the man and pinned him to the ship. He screamed in pain, his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he collapsed to the floor. One man remained. "Phantom Speed: Impact!" She shouted and teleported away from the man, appeared at his flank and drove her fist into his throat twice. Once again she vanished and appeared in front of him while lashing out with her boot, driving the heel of her shoe into the chest of the man and knocked the air from his lungs, collapsing him to the ground. Buggy rushed to her side, one hand holding a dagger between each finger. "Okay... well I guess I'll just get some rope and we can tie these guys up..." Buggy said while walking back off. Itsu collected the men and the pair tied them to the large mast of the skimmer. "So, this is the place eh? Well what now?" Itsu asked while placing her dagger back into the sheathe of her boot. "Now we wait for Mashyuu to return. Then we find the rest of my treasure.
Duh." Buggy laughed and patted Itsu's back, smiling wide at the woman all while he scanned the desert sea to find his lost treasures.

It wasn't long before Mashyuu came sliding down the hill that the skimmer had gone down just a few minutes ago. He stopped next to the giant ship and waved at the others. "Yo!
You guys okay over here?" Mashyuu asked while he walked to the helms end of the ship. Buggy waved back while Itsu jumped off the ship and landed at Mashyuu's side, giving him a big hug. "Well you look comfortable. So, ready to find that treasure? I'll make big stomps while you sense for the buried treasure." Itsu suggested. Mashyuu nodded while shrugging his shoulders. "Yeah I guess. I mean... the work of a Wizard is never really done." Itsu smiled and started to walk around the desert, next to Mashyuu, stomping with each step she took. Mashyuu stopped her after a half hour of walking closer to the ruins and pulled her back. Itsu stumbled while Mashyuu moved to stand where she was and commanded the earth to spit up the chest that rested under ground. "Buggy, catch!" Mashyuu shouted to the blue nosed man. A moment later Mashyuu tossed the chest up into Buggy's chest while the ground exploded, as the sand settled two large scorpions, almost the size of horses made their way towards Mashyuu and Itsu. The duo went back to back while drawing their weapons, Itsu with the dagger and Mashyuu producing a bow of magical power. Itsu lashed out while holding the cord of her weapon, cracking the hard shell of one scorpion, doing almost no damage to the monster. Itsu winced while pulling the weapon back, afraid that she would break the weapon if she attacked again. "Mashyuu, the shells!" Mashyuu pulled his bow string back and called out. "Itsu I know.. Hail of Arrows!" He shouted out and released the bowstring, pelting the monster with a series of blasts from a cone shaped attack that resembled magical arrows. He was doing what he could to make sure that he saved as much magical power as possible while the Sabertooth Wizards battled, in case they were attacked again.

One scorpion made a tail strike at Mashyuu but he countered by casting a powerful spell. "Secret Art: Earth Gods Intercepting Armor!" The ground under him shot up and blocked the tail, harmlessly deflecting the attack as if it were simply a gentle sword strike. Again he pulled his bow string back and shouted. "Sniper Elite!" The Wizard unleashed the arrow that formed in his palm and let it smash into the face of the scorpion before it exploded. The scorpion reeled back and shrieked in pain, still not dead but shocked from the force of Mashyuu's strikes. Mashyuu dismissed the bow and ran at the monster. "Rising Dragon Strike!" He shouted while jumping up and putting all his strength into the punch, knocking the Scorpion backwards from the force of his strike. As he landed he decided to finish the monster off. His hand came up and smashed the sandy ground. "Earth Gods Molten Blast!" He called out. The result was the sand becoming super heated and rolling up under the massive scorpion, melting its legs and killing it from the pure source of heat that Mashyuu unleashed from the core of the earth. He took a deep breath and glanced over his shoulder to see how Itsu was faring against her foe.

Itsu ducked a tail strike, barely able to evade even with her enhanced speed. Once Mashyuu had moved a few feet forward she teleported atop the monster and slammed her fist through the monsters shell, barely breaking it but still crushing the the shell and exposing the monsters flesh. She grinned wide and dug her blade into the monster then jumped, just in time for the tail of the scorpion to miss Itsu and slam into the wound that Itsu had just made. It shrieked in pain and twisted around to face the young woman who simply laughed at the monster and unleashed a blast of power into the body of the Scorpion, killing it on the spot.

As the scorpions hit the ground Buggy dropped out of the ship and clapped his hands rapidly while jumping up and skipping. "That was splendid! Wow you guys are really strong. Okay, lets get down into the ruins and get the treasure. I know it got dragged down there." Buggy explained and the trio walked down a flight of sandy steps that Mashyuu easily effortlessly made move aside so the group didn't fall or slip in the sand. The trio moved slowly at first but after what felt like an hour of traveling down steps, they arrived at the bottom of the stairs. Only Mashyuu could see in the dark realm but that soon changed when he flared with white light, giving off enough of a glow to let the others see as if they had a torch in their hand. The ground was made of rough stone, and the ruins were held up by large stone pillars. Mashyuu knew what this place was but doubted the others did. This was the lair of a powerful monster that would take a massive beating, possibly even manage to kill one or more of the trio. Mashyuu swallowed a dry lump and decided Buggy should turn back while he still could. "Buggy, go back to the ship, I'll be back with your treasure in an hour or so." Mashyuu ordered. Buggy looked down at his daggers and frowned but understood Mashyuu was looking out for the man. He sighed and turned to move back up the steps, leaving Itsu and Mashyuu alone. "It's that bad eh? Are we in a lot of danger?" Itsu asked. "Well.... yeah it's possible. I just don't want to risk Buggy getting killed if we run into something that is faster than us, or if we get outnumbered." Mashyuu commented while walking through the ruins, wanting to draw the attention of anyone else that might be in the area, or rather anything else.

The pair walked deeper into the ruins, and found that they seemed to be walking closer and closer to something much hotter than the desert was. Mashyuu was dabbing himself off with the wrap that was on his head, trying to keep himself cool for as long as possible when from around the corner of a pillar a large three headed beast lunged at Mashyuu at Itsu. The pair twisted to try to evade the monster but they weren't fast enough, a claw ripped through both Mashyuu and Itsu, knocking them both aside while it replaced the two, standing proudly and roaring. The beast had to many heads and they knew that they couldn't catch it off guard, even with their enhanced speeds. Mashyuu winced while he stood up and drew his blade, letting the weapon flare to life. "Damn monster won't go down easily Itsu. Stay on your guard!" Itsu nodded and drew her dagger once more, her wrist flipped the weapon on the cord to let it build up speed and momentum. She was the first to charge only to find the tail of the monster was actually a snakes head, it lashed out and bit Itsu's thigh, drew blood and injected the woman with poison that blurred her vision as Itsu fell to the floor almost instantly. Mashyuu snarled and while Itsu was being attacked shouted. "Kings Charge!" His blade exploded with power and launched the Wizard at the Chimera. Just before he would have slammed into its side he reached the blade forward and let it erupt with magical power, launching a beam of energy into the side of the Chimera, dealing a massive amount of damage to it. The Chimera shrieked and tried to bite Mashyuu with one of its three heads but the Wizard managed to push his weapon up to bat the biting attack away as if the monster was simply a light weapon in the hands of someone who didn't know how to use a blade.

Itsu laid on the ground, convulsing from the poison that was going through her. Mashyuu needed to help her quick. He closed his eyes and started to mutter under his breath. "Light Dragon's Healing Word: Cleanse!" He whispered and let light wash over Itsu, cutting the duration of the poison effect down to nearly nothing at all. Swiftly he jumped back to evade a strike from the monsters tail while a stone floated up to his palm and he washed it in holy light. "Dragon Gods Meteor Swarm!" Mashyuu announced. The stone shot out swiftly and smashed into the face of one of the monsters head, making it scream in anger and pain. Still it was enough for Itsu to teleport above the monster and exhale a blast of light into the spine of the Chimera, buckling it into the ground. She landed at its side and rolled away while Mashyuu raced past the monster and dragged his blade across the left flank of the the Chimera, drawing a long line of blood. Mashyuu spun around and pushed his left hand forward. "Earth Gods Combo: Part one!" Three stones shot out to smash into the legs of the Chimera, keeping it down on the ground long enough for Mashyuu to get off his second strike. "Earth Gods Combo: Part Two!" His palm touched the ground and commanded the stone ruins to swallow the Chimera on the spot. While the ground crushed the Chimera Mashyuu stood and pulled his right arm back while tossing his sword into his left hand. He charged forward while letting sand spurt out of his arm, creating a scythe of earth. The ground spit up the Chimera and Mashyuu finished his combo. "Earth Gods Combo: Part Three!" he cut two of the three heads off of the monster, the strike absorbed the moisture held inside the Chimera until nothing was left of it except bone and skin. "Well, you weren't so tough." Mashyuu muttered to himself while placing his blade back under his belt and making sure Itsu was okay.

Together Mashyuu and Itsu found the last of the remaining treasure and pulled it up the steps along with the heads of the Chimera. The two came up above the ground and Itsu jumped up on the ship to help hoist everything into the sand skimmer. Buggy seemed to light up with joy while going over all his treasure and counting everything. "It's all here! Alright, lets get back to town and I'll give you what you're owed." Buggy announced and rushed to get the sail back in place to start and head home. Only a few moments passed before the trio were once again on the move.

Back in town Buggy, Itsu and Mashyuu all shared a round of drinks together while laughing about adventures the three had in the past. It turned out that Buggy was a very skilled Pirate and actually could have helped Mashyuu if he would have let him. After the drinks were done Buggy pulled up three small chests of treasure and pushed all of them to Mashyuu and Itsu. Ten thousand Jewels, its half of my treasure. Also I noticed you are carrying Excalibur and for you I have a very special piece of treasure." Buggy went out to his sand skimmer and returned to the bar they were in with a long item wrapped in a brown cloth. He placed the heavy item in Mashyuu's palm and motioned for the Wizard to open it.

Quickly Mashyuu started to tug at the wrapping on the heavy item and his eyes lit up when he saw the beautiful sapphire and gold of the item that turned out to be a beautiful scabbard. Mashyuu's jaw dropped and he looked back up at Buggy. "It matches the blade I noticed. Something tells me they belong together so I thought you might want it. Considering you don't have a scabbard for your weapon and all." Mashyuu stood up and hugged Buggy, wrapping his arms around the Pirate. "It's beautiful. Thank you my friend. But now we must be off, I have to get home so that I can get to work on the next job.
Take care of yourself Buggy." Mashyuu strapped the scabbard onto his hip and placed the blade inside it, feeling it fit perfectly...
