An actual Lamia sighting?[Intro]

Kaori was at a nearby clothing and accessories shop looking at their hair bands when she heard the commotion starting. Since she was busy focusing on which band complimented her attire best, she didn't exactly catch the public service announcement broadcasted on the radio. The commotion was enough to cause the masked mage to set down the ribbon she was trying on and leave the store to ask what was going on. As it turned out, there was someone and a snake out in the woods surrounding the city on the eastern sea that was taking down something called 'Rune Knights' in masses. Upon asking about them, Kaori found out the rune knights were a type of military, or magical police force of sorts. While the two beings weren't killing them off, they were still causing trouble by alarming the townsfolk. It was also brought to Kaori's attention that the clan of magic users who resided in the town had been asked to assist, so naturally she couldn't sit around since doing so would bring dishonor on Lady Ceostra.

Kaori had found it strange that someone would be randomly fighting a guard force, and she saw little reason to try and apprehend said targets at the moment. Rather than heading off for the forest immediately, she went to where the knights were supposed to be stationed there to have them stop sending men. Naturally, the large, armoured brutes laughed at her when she said she could stop the snake and woman single handedly. So she challenged their leader to a fight, stating she'll only use one spell to defeat him. He was proud and arrogant, and readily took her up on the challenge. It wasn't a long fight, within three seconds the leader's helmet was dented in four places and his neck as a very light cut on the back. The cut wasn't life threatening, but it was enough for Kaori's point to be made.

With the rune knights taken care, of Kaori went to try and find out where this dastardly duo was, and why they were being attacked. Her clairvoyance proved to be useful in this scenario as from the moment she found the first unconscious man, she was able to follow them throughout their little adventure until she'd come to a point where the memories ended. "I don't wanna fight lamia." Kaori declared in a very audible tone that wasn't quite yelling level. "I've also made sure to it those knights won't be sending anyone else. I'd like to know who you are, why you're here, and why you were being pursued." she said in an equally loud voice. Her words were only slightly muffled by the mask she wore, and while she was armed, her hands didn't exactly imply she were about to draw sword and start fighting without provocation. But Kaori was a seasoned warrior, her reaction time was pretty damn good and she had many tricks up her sleeve. If any swords would come flying at her, Kaori's telekinesis would stop them mid air in a stalemate; if she were attacked, the attacker would only hit a clone.

Still using her clairvoyance to view the past, Kaori's right eye glowed bright violet through the slit in her mask. She was the kind of person who many would call wise, even if she's an idiot. She lived on the principle of living in the moment, but learning from her past so she could be ready for her future. 'One eye on the present, one eye on the past' as the former clan leader put it. Looking about, Kaori watched the lamia slinking up the trees and to the top, at the same time, she saw her white tail come down and gesture to the sheathed katana at her right side before gesturing to the ground. Her right hand grabbed the hilt of it and slowly pulled the blade from its' home, stopping when the tip was exposed and then moved the blade behind her befor dropping it. The sword went deep into the ground, sinking all the way down so seventy five percent of it was hidden beneath grass, root, and soil. She turned her head to lock eyes with the woman and said in an audible, but non-aggressive tone "Your turn."

If the lamia would come out, Kaori would stay where she stood. Most likely the snake woman would be afraid, or at least wary. Up till now she had been fighting everyone and their mother, and not many humans had the balls to look at a lamia without attacking or trying to flee. The concept of a giant snake was the part that terrified them. Legends of lamia eating the innards of humans, forcing them to be their slaves, and some varieties turning them to stone didn't help the race much either. But Kaori's master had told her to always speak with someone if they would listen. Learn their motives, their story, and use that to judge whether their actions are just. So far the lamia had shown enough willingness to meet with Kaori, and so long as she didn't try constricting her, the two of them would get along just fine. "It's customary to introduce yourself before asking someone else's name. I'm Kaori Lareci, who're you?" she would say in a softer, gentle, and friendly enough voice. It was no longer necessary to speak loudly, so Kaori didn't waste the energy it required to do so.
