Snowy Cottage (job) - Twisted Fate

Another painful morning for Ace the master of cards…Both the Mini-Grand Magic Games and his previous job of evicting public disturbances had taken their toll on his body. Every slight movement caused him to wince a little bit, but he had to bear with it. It was days like these when Ace wished he’d not be so hyperactive, always needing to do something. So for a change he decided to take on a less challenging job, something with less fighting and more…well…peaceful chores. He trotted towards the request bored, scanning it for ANYTHING without stress. And there it was; a job to help build a small cottage in the mountains. Before anyone else could even glance at the piece of paper he quickly stuck it into his jacket pocket and went on his way.

It was a loooooooooong way to the location of the quest. Not only was it located high atop the mountains, there was also not a single soul heading there. He had missed the last train to depart for the village close by and no caravan or other group was heading there. Another day without the help of Lady Luck I guess thought the aching mage. “Why is it always when I try to relax that I get this stupid bul…” a small carriage stopped and offered him a ride. They were headed towards Mountaintop Village to visit some relatives and heard talk of a man in need of transport there. The old man holding the reigns told him to step inside and as he did so Ace could only smile; two young maidens sat there giggling. “I’m sorry to have doubted you my lady…” he muttered happily, striking up conversation with them both.

The ride was pleasant even though Ace didn’t score at all. Turns out the two ladies in the back were a couple…the situation was too good to be true and he really should have known better. Lady Luck may bring good fortune but only in things that are necessary…most of the time anyways. He got out at the village center as he was not sure which way the house-to-build was to be. Luckily in a village like this EVERYONE knew ANYONE! The first person he asked gave him direction and even drew him a small map on what seemed to be a paper candy wrapper. Grateful for the man’s help Ace thanked him and moved north further up the mountain.
