Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim] Empty Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim]

Post by Shakil 3rd January 2017, 7:44 pm

It was a quiet evening. Cloudy, grey skies, and a seemingly endless downpour of rain. It seemed that it was quite often that it rained in these parts of Fiore, or perhaps it was just bad luck? Maybe, but maybe the odds weren’t against him this time around.

Savage Skull, a guild with a legacy of its crimes, but disappeared after infamous wizards had bid their farewells. Well, that’s what Achim heard anyway. But recently, the guild had risen up back to power, and a barrage of wizards from all over sought them out in order to stop them, or to join them in their cause. Among the ambitious wizards who wanted to join was Achim, a messy haired man with no significance besides his bloodline. It wasn’t the guild that particularly interested him, but who would crawl inside it. Many would join for it’s infamy, or maybe to access their potential to spread discord across Fiore, or maybe some were always here from the beginning. There were many reasons why one would think of the name of this guild, but Achim simply sought out one thing. A particular family member, who he hasn’t spoken to in decades.

He could only remember her name, as she never seemed to stick to one appearance for too long. But the two were also very old comparatively speaking. Some may never have heard of the name Marceline Anicetus. Others, maybe, but from his experiences, she was missing last time they saw her. And that was several hundred years ago, when he was physically that of a thirteen year old. He searched in Sin, Midi, Bosco, even the highly feared and respected Pergrande Kingdom, but no avail. Fiore was his next stop.

However, the sudden burst of infamy Savage Skull had captured Achim’s attention, and perhaps this was an opportunity to gather more information. As giddy and foolish as his introduction to their ranks was, he felt very peculiar.

In the tavern of the Savage Skull Guild Hall, Achim sat quietly on a stool by a counter, with nothing but a puff of darkness in front of him. His finger scratched and pat his companion, but his sharp eyes were anything but fond at the moment. He was impatient and struggling to figure out what he was doing wrong, and it was hard to redirect his focus onto the guild itself and his plans to serve them well.

Achim sighed and ran his fingers through his messy black hair, “I tell ‘ya, thought we’d be closer this time around, Clide. I can’t even muster up the gut to have a drink or puff a smoke… and usually those are the things that help when you’re frustrated!” He sighed and crossed his arms over onto the table, and put his head down, glum. “Sheesh… I would kill for a meal right now….” He sulked.

Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim] Empty Re: Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim]

No, I won't fall for this again, I'll always see behind your smoke and mirrors. I know you love me deep inside, your simply caught up in
    her lie

Marceline quietly glanced up to the ceiling of the old crypt Savage Skull resided in, listening to the little sounds the ancient place made. Beyond the doors of her office, the young woman could hear the footsteps of her guild members shuffling around as they hid inside. They weren’t hiding from anything particular, rather they were keeping dry from the onslaught of rain that poured down outside. Lowering her head, the woman returned to the paperwork at hand, filling out information after information about shit she didn’t care for. However, it was needed for every guild, even the guilds that weren’t necessarily registered beneath the Magic Council like the legal ones were. It was boring paperwork, but it was expected of a Guild Master, and being a Guild Master, that wasn’t something she had expected. These people had called to her though, and she had answered their call, giving them what they had wanted most in their pathetic lives.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, the woman pushed the paperwork away from her, deciding that was enough for the time being. Instead, she slid the chair she was sitting in backward and stood to her feet, stretching her sore muscles from having sat down too long. Once she was completely refreshed, the woman left everything as it was and exited the room to head down to the guild hall. As she made her way through the winding corridor, the closer she came to the mess hall, the louder the chatter and movement became. The members here had always been boisterous and loud, but she didn’t mind it in the least bit; it meant they had spirit in their step. Dipping through a small, beaded doorway, the Guild Master of Savage Skull entered the premises of the guild hall and looked around. People were seated or standing in various places, roughhousing with others or just chatting, eating, simply trying to get by.

Yet, none of them had caught her attention like the lone man that sat at the bar in the far corners of the guild hall, some strange animal with him. Curiosity filled her mind, feeling like she had seen this man before in her lifetime, but not quite recalling who he was to her. Weaving her way through the mesh of people, Marceline joined Achim at the bar, settling down into one of the stools beside him. “You seem awfully lonely sitting over here on your own, anything I can do to help you?” she inquired in the succulent voice of hers. She leaned on the arm closest to the bar’s top, resting her head on the hand and waiting for the magus to answer her question. He seemed so familiar to her, but no matter how much she dug around in her mind for the answer, she just couldn’t find out who he was. The only thing left to do was wait and see if she could recognize his face when he looked at her or perhaps wait for him to introduce himself.

I suppose I’m being awfully rude, myself, in not introducing who I am,” she stated, sitting up straight again to look at him more clearly. “I’m Marceline Anicetus, the Guild Master of Savage Skull, and who might be the one I’m talking to? You seem quite familiar to me, I just can’t put a name to you.

Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim] Empty Re: Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim]

Post by Shakil 4th January 2017, 5:32 pm

Achim felt his head spinning. The gloominess of the downpour outside seemed to weigh on him, combined with boredom, he had built his own little bubble over himself. For the most part, it was him sulking to himself, his fuzzy ball of darkness listening attentively. Savage Skull as interesting when he found out that the members weren't as scary as people glorified them to be. They were just very ornery and creepy at beast, but nothing about their qualities ever struck fear into the young man. He first met Thorn, some sort of famous and well respected member, as she implied, but their meeting wasn't as normal as he thought it'd be. She talked about how tasty he was and would physically investigate his body, turning his face from cheek to cheek and licking blood from the cut she gave him. It was very odd, but what was to be expected from a guild of murderers?

The thought made him smile, though a chill went down his spine. He wasn't sure what to expect from the others, as maybe they were as creepy, if not more than Lady Thorn. But it was certainly better than some goody-two-shoes of a guild. And it was delightful that a group as large as this one shared a similar interest in creating discord and a road of red from town to town. That was one reason he joined, but the other was to seek out a close relative. His parent, actually. But she wasn't there for most of his life, but she was there long enough for him to remember her. Her name, at least.

Achim scratched his head and sighed an exaggerated sigh, but it was after that moment that a beautiful (in her own way) woman sat next to him, relatively concerned about his lack of company. It wasn't often that someone would do that without Achim obviously trying to get attention, so he was more flattered than shocked. He turned his head just slightly while it was down so he could peek out while staying in the same position, only his golden eyes appearing. "I apologize for such a gloomy atmosphere I may posses, but I am distraught, you see! Oh, how my heart aches!" Achim grinned and instantly stood up from his seat, moving around dramatically like some character in the theater, Achim always tended to love making his introductions flashy, "So leave me be, mistress! Leave me to my sorrow!" He paused, he stopped, and he grinned before bowing, "...Or not. I love the company, hehe..." He snickered, sitting back down.

He listened closely to what she had to say, and what she said stunned him. Marceline Anicetus. She said those exact words. Words he only knew, and kept to himself for centuries. A name so lost in time, that only those of her bloodline were familiar with it. Achim fell silent for a long moment, trying to process what he just heard. He wasn't too sure on how to reply, it was all so unexpected and sudden, like a big smack in a face by fate.

Achim stared before nodding, "Ahem, uh... erm... Achim Anicetus."

    her lie

Achim’s dramatic introduction caught Marceline’s attention instantaneously, but it also threw her back in a way, as it was an unexpected reaction from him. Her eyes glossed him over as he rose to his feet and played out the greeting as if he was some weary, travel-worn mage just arriving. He acted like he was trying to impress her, as though it was the most difficult thing to get into the ranks of Savage Skull, or rumored to be at least. His introduction brought an entertained smile on her face, like she was expecting some sort of show to be put on by him. However, the dramatic greeting would come to an abrupt end and Achim would place himself back in his seat where she had found him. The smile, though, was still retained on her face, a gentle giggle escaping her lips before she composed herself as he had done. She dropped her eyes away from his and down to the clasped hands in her lap, mulling over what he had said to her moments ago.

Before her stood one of her many children, a child who she didn’t spend much time with and tried to avoid at her best. It wasn’t because she wanted to, but it was because she knew it was for the best that she didn’t stick around in his presence for too long. Having a child grow attached to her was the last thing that she needed or wanted right now, especially considering the predicament she was in. She was certain that if the Magic Council ever found out of her having a child, they would have snatched the child away from her. That wasn’t because they wanted to be rude to her, but as a wanted mage and someone who was prone to killing, they didn’t trust her. At most, they would have feared for the child’s life and would have done anything they could to take it away from her. Devastated if that happened? Certainly so. It was one of the many reasons why she simply gave up her children to adopted homes.

If you’re here for me to become a part of your life, you better take your leave now,” the woman stated, a sigh forming over her words. “I will only be a burden in your life if you choose to have me in it, and being a burden to someone else is something I don’t want.” Her gaze moved from her hands back to the face of her son, the red irises glittering with a sense of sorrow hidden deep within them. “I had a reason for choosing to not be in your life and it was a very good reason, Achim; please, understand this about me. As mage who’s wanted by the most revered people in Fiore, I couldn’t live without the fear of you being taken from me. They wouldn’t have seen you as my own child, a child that I birthed, but as a child I had taken from an innocent family to raise as my own brood of evil. So, I choose to be in your life as little as possible, leaving you to my servants to raise as a respectable and and honorable man.

A brief smile crossed over her lips, wrinkling the sides of her eyes and poking dimples into the center of her slightly chunky cheeks. “I only wanted the best for you, you being my firstborn son,” she explained to him in an eerily calm manner, “I was a new mother after all. We fear even the littlest of horrid things befalling our children, and with no one there to teach me how to raise a child, I didn’t know what to do. Naturally, I would have given you to your father to raise, but I didn’t know who your father was or where he could have been. You deserved nothing better than a good life, a life that I wouldn’t have been able to provide you without some sort of obstacle in my way. Of course, I still love you and hold you nearest and dearest to my heart, but I believe that I don’t belong in your life; you’re better off without me.” That smile faded from her lips and she drew in a sorrowful-sounding breath of air before letting it out slowly, like she was trying to calm nerves.

Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim] Empty Re: Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim]

Post by Shakil 8th January 2017, 9:57 am

Achim listened attentively to Marceline and what she had to say. She seemed... somber. Her face showed nothing but regret, anxiety, and sadness as she talked about him. She didn't want to be a part of his life, she didn't want to in the fear of burdening him and what he wants as a person. Those words nearly make him break into a fit or rage from the absurdity, but at the same time, he felt like falling to the ground and bawling like a baby from both sorrow and happiness. He wanted to slap her for thinking she'd ever burden him, but wanted to kiss and love on her after confessing that she did care about him. She did make decisions considering her little boy. She did love him. This woman looked at him as her child, not some chore she had. Achim thought about it within the few moments that she spoke, he almost fazed out of the conversation and was only listening to his own thoughts. But he forced himself to break from his own thoughts, to listen to a voice he hasn't heard in centuries.

Achim continued to listen to her with undivided attention, and what he heard almost triggered his tear ducts to empty. Why, she was more amazing than he remembered! Call it glorifying, but Achim broke into a toothy grin, showing off his pearly whites while looking at her. Although she was doing anything but smiling, Achim made it his duty to change her mood.

"Oh my, oh my!" Achim slipped of his seat again, this time pulling Marceline up with him, "Once, nearly one thousand years ago lived a boy all by himself in a castle, with servants who scowled at the sight of his very face, and with no friends or family. Oh, how he longed for affection! For companionship! For someone to care about him! The boy thought, 'Why, oh why am I so hated? So lonely? So sullen? Why do my servants hate me so?' He couldn't possibly generate a reason why he was so scorned! He lived alone, in his mind, not even his Mother dared to take entry to this little world of his. Oh, and how he begged her so! A silent cry for her to stay and love him when she did visit, and a silent scream for her to kiss him when he was sad! A lust to kill her for not looking at him when he was angry, and a lust to hug her when he was thrilled and overjoyed! She missed the moments when he first learned to read well, and he cried! She missed the moment when he learned to read all the books in the library, and he sulked! She missed his birthdays and holidays, and he bawled! But even so..." Achim nearly fell into tears as he talked about his feelings when he was younger, slowly beginning to dance with his Mother, his life in theater suddenly began to grow into a habit, "the boy could not survive without seeking out that same brood who has left him alone for so long! He wanted to scream at her for missing his birthday, he wanted to shed tears with her for leaving him alone in his bedroom at night, when the roaring thunder scared him into tears! He wanted to laugh with her for the time she missed him slipping and falling into the lake, oh, how funny it was! And he refused to die until she did that with him! I cannot hate you, you are not a burden, Mother! I love yo with all the love I have to give, and there is no purpose to my life if the one woman I have sought for so long denies me! It would drive my sanity away, I would forever be unhappy! You have left me once, please don't leave me again. My mighty quest to seek you out has been fulfilled, and I have honored my oath do it with no heartbreak. I sacrificed a life of potential good and companionship for this one moment, please do not refuse to let me be a part of you. I only have one Mother, and a God may strike me dead before I see her leave me again!" He smiled, finally break into tears. One hand gently caressed hers, and the other tried so hard to hide his tears. His nose became wet, and his smile faded into a shocked frown, "Please, Mother... how I miss you so..." He began to sob harder, it had been long since he broke down like this. The high spirited and bubbly man could not hold in the sadness and happiness any longer.

Achim remembered how use to be in the town Theater, he was always the lead role. He remembered all the plays he pulled off; he knew how to sing, dance, and make things dramatic, like this conversation, but he couldn't pretend that he was as bubbly today as he was every day.

    CLAWED MY WAY TO VICTORY

Achim,” she began, only to be cut off by her son beginning his long rant over the terrible life he had ever since he was little. Marceline quieted down and kept her mouth shut, letting him pan out his life in a theatrical sense for her to imagine his pain. She could already feel the pain he felt though, the fear that he would lose her again if she tried to avoid being in his life any longer. It caused a small pout to cross her lips, holding back tears that threatened to spill from her eyes listening to the agonizing words he spoke. “I-” she started, once again cut off by his words as he told her how not even the servants she tasked in raising him liked him. A soft, delicate sigh escaped her lips and she stood to her feet, staring up at Achim, who loomed over her by just a few inches. “Please, stop my chilt,” she finally broke into his act, watching the expression on his face turn from awe of her to complete sorrow.

However, he took her by the hands and pulled her into a dance with him, swinging her around the tavern floor like it was a dance space. “It vas for ze best, I promise,” the woman stated, trying to keep step with the taller man as he swung her through the walkways and around the tables. “Mutter knew best. . . she only vanted ze best for her son. . . He vas her firstborn, she couldn’t simply lose him zu ze bigger vorld. Understant dis, Achim. . . I did vhat I did for you und only für du. I didn’t vant zu see you get hurt because of your Mutter’s decisions.” She was forced to quiet down as Achim continued retelling the tale of his childhood and how much he wished she had been there. “Please, ton’t cry, Schnucki,” Marceline murmured to him, “I vas dere for all of dose dings, just not vhere you could see me. You grew up before my eyes und I am a fery proud mother, just as any mother vould be of her son, no matter ze situation.

Marceline would stop the dancing Achim was pulling her through, holding her weight to the floor so that he, too, would be forced to stop. “Ich liebe dich auch, Mäuschen, auf tiefstem Herzen,” she whispered, bringing a smile to her face and cupping both of her hands to his cheeks. “Niemand hinein dieser Welt werden dieser wechseln, Ich verspreche du die da denn eine Mutter liebt ihr kind nein Angelegenheit was.” She would lower his head to hers and plant a loving kiss on his forehead, then take a step back and look him in the eye again. “Stop your crying, hm?” Marcy murmured, reaching out to wipe the tears from his eyes and get him to stop crying for her. “If you vish for me zu stay in your life, dann I vill; it ist ze best dat I can do for my son, who deserves noding more dann ze vorld from me.” The woman aimed to pull him into a hug, holding him there and petting his hair as a means of a loving attention she could give.

Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim] Empty Re: Unexpected Reunions [Private - Marceline/Achim]

Post by Shakil 26th January 2017, 6:21 pm

It was hard not to stop his tears. This was his mother, she was really here. He could finally run his fingers through her long, raven black hair. He could finally marvel at her pale, white skin. And he could finally admire her strength, both as a Mother and a leader. She was nothing but exquisite to him, and when she spoke with that voice of hers, his heart lifted and suddenly, his tears began to stop. The overwhelming relief and happiness outweighed the sorrow and regret, and he finally felt at peace. There was nothing left to be sad about. A thousand years of solitude, grief, and a taste for companionship had not all been in vain, as all of his bitter trials, the impossible obstacles, and the broken bridges he was forced to cross were all leading up to this moment.

It was when her soft lips pecked his forehead that he fell silent, nothing but sniffles and gasps filled the air. But it was no frown that painted this man's face, but shock. With his eyes wide open, and mouth hanging down, the feeling of being loved by his parent after so long left him speechless. Then slowly, that shocked expression morphed into a sweet, sweet smile. And then into a toothy grin. He just couldn't stop showing off those pearly whites, it was like nothing in the world could loom over him with their bitterness just because of this one moment. The feeling he longed for, now handed to him so kindly. All the tears he wished to shed for her, now freed. All the spite he held over the years, gone. It was a moment of pure joy.

Achim finally lifted his head and rubbed the rest of his tears away from his eyes that Marceline didn't already clean off, leaving the flesh around his eyes red. He grinned a toothy grin, nodding when she suggested him to stop crying, "Yeah, yeah, okay!" He snickered, taking small, but deep breaths before accepting the embrace from her, burying his face into her shoulder. "I bet you must break all men's hearts with the way you speak, geez!" He joked.
