100 Paper Cranes[Job/Private]

Fenghuang honestly felt rather heavy hearted picking this job, mostly because it was sick children in hospital, and from what she heard about those who have been there for the same reason, some of the children never have the chance to actually be cured of their illness. Peace Village was such a nice name for them to rest. She clutches her request paper and stuffs in it her bag. Galileo looked at her, his expression curious and confused, yet concerned and worried. She treks her way on the dirt road to the village, silence for once.

She makes her way through the village, it felt rather calming just being in the area. The people were both curious and nice towards her. She could bare sense any hidden feelings, just straight forward curiosity and kindness. She was even offered an apple by a young boy for her travels. She smiled and makes a paper slip and folds it into a small dragon and hands it to the boy with a smile. She bites into the apple as she made her way to the hospital. Juicy and sweet, a good apple.

She walks through the door, Galileo's apparition no longer floating behind her. She is greeted by a short, middle aged woman. She could see visible strands of white hair. 'Must be the stress' Fenghuang thought as she shook the woman's hand. She introduced herself as Matron Martha and of course Fenghuang went into her extrememly long introduction. Martha just laughed, adding a jolly mood to the atmosphere. She gives Fenghuang a hair ruffle, even though the damage was rather minimum thanks to the comb and pin.

Fenghuang was rather surprised by the atmosphere of the hospital. She would think of it as a place of quiet and solitude. But she felt hope, joy and cheer as she heard the laughter of children and the giggles of the other nurses who nurse the children here. She heard coughs and sneezes, but they would just end with a laugh or giggle. Martha explained that, in her philosphy, laughter is the best medicine, and the best gift a child can have before he or she sadly departs. Fenghuang smiles and tells Martha how she felt no restless spirits in the hospital, Martha gave a confused but happy expression and jokes about it. Fenghuang could not help but laugh. Martha pushes open a wooden door and they walk in to the auditorium, chairs were already laid out and a small stage could be seen facing the audience. It was not much, enough for a hundred adults. Martha explains that they are having the show here.

It was rather quick, the auditorium now filled to the brim. Fenghuang could already here the children chatter a stranger who just entered the hospital just for putting on the magic show. She shrugs, no further introduction needed then. She walks in and waves her hands with a cheerful smile before going on to the auditorium and with an energetic grin, she spreads her hands and asked gleefully, "Who wants to see some magic?" The whole auditorium went into a burst of cheers. She smiled before she looks at her sleeve and rolls them up.

"Look nothing up my sleeves!" Fenghuang said as she rubs her hands, then smiled before pointing at a girl, who seems to be lacking arms, and paper flies out of her hands and circles around the girl. Her friends nearby shifted away, from awe and shock. Fenghuang smiled before the papers stick themselves to her and brings her back to Fenghuang who grabs her with her arm and as if using a microphone, asks the girl, "Your name please miss?"

"R-r-rachel!" Rachel stuttered, red with embarrassment. Fenghuang laughs and reaches for her sleeve with the hand she was holding Rachel with, but not dropping Rachel. A large paper replica of Fenghuang's hand was holding Rachel instead and the children burst into laughter, even Rachel, very shocked, laughed too. Fenghuang smiles and grabs Rachel with her normal hands again and puts her on a high stool made of paper.

"For my first trick! I require Rachel and one other lucky person!" Fenghuang exclaimed before closing her eyes and curling her fingers up except for her pointer and spins. The stool Rachel is sitting on suddenly formed hands and as if like they were trying to asked Rachel to pick a child. Rachel laughed, the hands were bickering with each other. Rachel then pointed to a friend sitting at the back and the hand tapped the still spinning Fenghuang. When she stopped spinning, the hands grabbed her to prevent her from being too dizzy and shifted her hand to point at Rachel's friend. Fenghuang, after getting out her dizzy state with all the laughing, smiled and asked Rachel's friend to come over.

A nurse moved Rachel's friend over to Fenghuang and helped her on stage. It was interesting, someone with hands and no legs, is a friend of Rachel, who has no arms but has her legs. Fenghuang gave them both a pat on the back before facing her audience once more with a great big smile, hands outstretched as the show begun.

"So we got two lovely ladies up here with me! Prefect for my trick, now first things first, here a wand for you two," Fenghuang rolls her sleeves out once more and produces two wands from her sleeve and hands them to Rachel and her friend, Danika. Fenghuang turns away to grab something from her bag. Of course, the wands were made from her paper. Danika held her wand and saw it suddenly went limp. She waves the noodle about and everyone laughs. Rachel laughed too. She patted Danika's shoulder to switch wands which they did. Rachel held Danika's wand in her mouth. Danika once again laughed when Rachel's wand went limp. They called out to Fenghuang. She turns around and immediately the wands went back to normal. Fenghuang gave a faked but convincing confused look before laughing as she pulled out her own wand. She faces the audience and tells Rachel and Danika to do the same.

"Okay I shall show you all how to perform magic! First take your wand and raise it like me!" Fenghuang raised her wand as if trying to reach for something above her. Rachel and Danika did the same, and laughed when they did, the wands went limp. Rachel placed the wand on her lap as she laughed. Fenghuang turns around and laughed too, seeing the limp wands. She chided the wands and they flew back to her and burst into paper roses. She hands them the roses and thanks them for being in stage with her. She dusted her sleeves once again and puts on a big smile and bows for them, hands holding the girls' shoulders as they bow as well.

Fenghuang could not but feel that this is more like a children's home, a close knit family rather than a hospital it calls itself to be. Every nurse, doctor and Matron seem to know each kid very well. She was told that Rachel and Danika made a promise to each other to help each other, Rachel being the legs and Danika the hands. Several kids here wanted to be magicians themselves, so that they could entertain each other. Fenghuang smiled at the thought.

"Geez you sure like to daydream!" A nurse, brunette laughed as she moved the chairs into a stack. Fenghuang lightly knocked her head and laughed and jokes about it. She moves the chairs into a stack then sees the Matron walk over to her. Fenghuang stood up straight and greeted Martha. Martha was definitely happy and smiling and see gave the Fenghuang a pat on the shoulder.

"Thank you dear girl, I honestly would have no idea what to do if you haven't come along and help out here," Martha said as she took Fenghuang's hand and placed a small pouch of jewels there. Fenghuang smiled, as much as she wanted to refuse, it was courtesy to take what has be given. Fenghuang keeps it in her bag and hugs Martha and the Matron does the same.

"Ooh how many children are here?" Fenghuang asks.

Confused, Martha recollects and tells Fenghuang the numbers. Fenghuang smiles and leaves the hospital hastily, leaving Martha still confused.

Fenghuang stands outside and stretches her hands. She has not made alot of them in a long time. She twirls and does an action as if she is throwing something, hands outstretched. Paper flies out and folds themselves into paper cranes, thousands of paper cranes fly over the hospital and the children were obviously amazed. Children flood outside the hospital to watch the paper cranes fly and dance in the sky above the village, they slowly drop to the ground and each land in every child's hand and they stared and folding in amazement. Fenghuang waves them good bye and rans off into the sunset, smiling as she hears the children say goodbye.
