- Job Title:
A Strange Occurrence On The Shore
Rank:
D
Player Requirements:
1x Any rank of mage, no limit to how many can participate. 500 words per person. 5 rolls per person involved. Boss counts a 2 strong.
Job Requirements:
Explore the shoreline and find out what is going on.
Job Location:
Any shoreline in Earthland. (Islands, port towns, etc.)
Job Description:
Word of strange occurrences on the shoreline has reached your ears. Any number of people are willing to pay to find out was going on, but just plain curiousity may also be the reason for one to go and find out what is going on.
Enemies:
All enemies appear dead at first, as HUNDREDS of aquatic wildlife are on the shore for some reason. Nothing is wrong with them besides that they are out of the water. Attempts to put them back in the water will result in them beaching themselves again and attacking anyway.
Weak:
Dying Fish x5; A large fish(your choice on what it is) is out of the water, aggressively attacking anything near it out of fear. Takes any 1 hit of damage to kill, due to how weak it is. They deal no damage and are a minor inconvenience.
Normal:
Dying Shark x2; A shark of some kind begins flailing about nearby. They're teeth are a threat, dealing 1.5 D ranks of spell damage if they bite you. They take 3 D ranks of spell damage to take down.
Strong:
Whale x1; A whale has beached itself as well, flailing in the same frustration as the others. A hit from this mighty beast, whether by tail, mouth, or fin, will deal 2 D ranks of spell damage to the poor sap struck. They take a whopping 10 D ranks to put out of their misery. Make sure to push the dead body into the water, else they will explode and cause trouble for those that have to run clean-up of the shoreline!
Boss:
N/A
Reward:
2k jewels to each person involved. (Total jewels from those interested in the information on what was going on.)
Access to part 2 in the job series!

So the young yokai had been told about some strange occurrences on the shoreline of Cedar while in a town close by to it. From what he heard about in the rumors, it seemed rather interesting, and people were even requesting mages to go and figure out what was going on. So being one himself, not so legal mage of the legal guild Black Rose, decided to check it out. He'd never heard anything like it before, sea creatures purposefully beaching themselves. Not that he was ever one to go check out the ocean or any type of body of water anyways, not that he didn't like water. His only dilemma was that, well, he had no clue how to swim. He has tried before, but he can't really get the hang of it. Maybe because his species isn't really the swimming type, being a weasel and not a mink or something of the like. So unlike other creatures, it wasn't engraved in his bloodline to know how to swim. He has survived so far though without the knowledge of it, if he really wanted to learn to swim he would probably have to get some help from somebody in his guild. Not that he was really the type to really seek help from anybody, a more of an independent and secretive person.
Walking the beginning of the beach, his fair skinned bare feet cushioned by the soft sand of a similar color. A sly little smile on his complexion, he walked with his hands in the pockets of his slightly rolled up pants. He was guessing that he was going to see more wizards, but so far he didn't really see anybody. So far it was just the kamaitachi, everybody was just late to the party or just to busy. Well until he smelled a slight scent, and off not to far away from him was a richly blue colored haired girl. Her scent seemed a bit off, like she might or might not be human, but the weasel couldn't really place it all that well. Figuring he might as well, he made his way over to the young girl.

SKETCHING FANTASIES UNTO THE NIGHT SKY
Through the glass that made her irises, the shoreline were to be reflected with a sense of serenity, where the sand was a luxurious shade of white and the sea was a wide splash of blue that had her thinking of distant thoughts as the starling sat herself quietly atop a small hill of sand. It wasn't uncommon for her to find her heart elsewhere then, adrift in her own little bubble as her presence settled in with the silence of the beach. Her fingers thread through the rough texture of the grain around her, letting the breeze filter them out of her palm and bundle back again unto the surface below. Fleetingly, she'd compare the scattering sands to the stars that lined the skies above them, to her sisters who watched her from afar, to the Rodea that was littered with glistening things and to the fact that Ishval had so many wonderful other things -perhaps it even bested the skies, where everything was bright and beautiful.
In her idle hand, Merrilee would twirl her parasol by its cold, metal handle, fulfilling several rotations before abruptly stopping. Something was approaching, or rather, someone. Tilting her head to one side had her manage the figure more concretely, watching the human's steps pad along the sand towards her direction. A most curious development, no doubt, but with her being slightly open-minded when it came to their kind, she'd only ever offer the boy her regular smile, ceasing her actions that involved toying with a mound of sand.
"Can I help you, mister?" she said, her eyes blinking several times as she tried to adjust to his bright hair that seemed to blend well with the sunlight.

Smiling at her, gazing calmly with his soft hazel gaze, though if you looked close enough you could see a slight glint of mischief hiding within his optics. The young yokai looked into who wide and curious blue gaze, then he continued to respond as he intertwined his fingers behind his back "Mister?" he muttered the odd word, it was unfamiliar to him, though he has heard it used, he was just unsure of the meaning of it. Decided that he would ignore that for now, maybe he would ask one of his guildmates for whenever he returned back to the inn. So he actually continued to reply to the question that was asked of him "I don't believe so, I'm just here to help out with the odd occurrences that are here" he said with a slight chuckle afterwards. She reminded him of a child, though he wasn't to familiar with them, and didn't really know how to deal with them. They were fun to play pranks on, and to play games with, or anything of the like. Though he did once have siblings of his own, they all just gave him the cold shoulder, because mommy hated him they had to do so. This left to the inevitable occurrence of his abandonment, though he didn't mind that as much now, it was what lead him to meet Seika after all!

SKETCHING FANTASIES UNTO THE NIGHT SKY
Her parasol twisted in her hand slightly, skewing the sun before resuming a listless twirl. Briefly, she'd watch the waves pool at the shoreline, her mind slightly adrift for a short span of seconds until the golden-eyed human spoke, his voice most questioning.
From her seated position, the starling would assume a stand, easing out the wrinkles and sand out of the fine material of her dress before rendering a tilt to her head, as if equally questioning the strange human before her. His purpose there appeared like an intriguing proposal, worming questions of varying extents in her little blue head.
"Odd occurrences?" she began, blinking rapidly to prove her point of interest. "I haven't heard of anything...mind if you tell me a thing or two?"
Merrilee was never one with the rumors, it seems. Though she was empathetic enough to bother with human affairs, she had no source for it, or the skill to gather them, rather. In these kinds of situations, however, she was more than pleased to receive any sort of insights, be it on a silver platter or a plain, plastic plate.
"Does it have anything to do with the beach?" she hurriedly added, digging her heels into the soft, slushy sand with a slightly boisterous bounce to her words, as if portraying her sincerest curiosity to the matter presented.
Little did she know...it obviously wouldn't end well for her.

This curious young creature was very intriguing to the kamaitachi, almost as interested in her as she was about these said 'odd occurrences'. Though not in the way other humans tend to be interesting to him, having a better sense of smell and of senses then humans. And due to him being an older yokai (well older then normal human age), he had better senses then yokais younger then himself. So he could often smell when something was off, not in her personality, but what she was. Something he didn't really recognize, not a yokai, but she was something in disguise, but what was the question. Might as well stay to figure it out, the weasel thought to himself, why not help her curiosity in the process? Curiosity killed the cat, correct? So let's let her enjoy her time before said demise. "No, I don't mind at all, but first what is your name? That is what humans do when meeting somebody for the first time right? My name is Aruzati" he said, a grin sitting upon his fair skinned complexion. Of course, using his alias when introducing himself, not comfortable giving his real name out to anybody. Besides people he is close to, which would only be Seika, at this moment. Though he tried to push away thoughts of the hybrid yokai, it brought out to much depressing thoughts for the weasel.
