    Job Thread::

"Okay, that does it.  I've waited who knows how many years!  I'm going out there to find my Muse!"

Those were the words of the being known as Drew Stacy as she finally decided to leave her strange home underground.  For countless years, she only knew her underground home.  Patience was a virtue of hers, but patience can only get you so far.  It seemed she finally has had enough.

Thus, she made her way to the nearest form of civilization!  And the nearest form seemed to be having some rather grand news.

Or, more importantly, a lot of people.  Her search made her feel rather discouraged at this point.  How was she going to find Muse in a place like this?!

Wait... there seemed to be a long line here.

"Excuse me, sir?" she asked, tugging at the man at the end of said line.  "Could you tell me what this is?"

"You haven't heard?" the man said, "Fiore's boarders have been opened!  We're trying to get our pass ports so that we can head out to see the rest of the world."

"The rest... of the world?!" she cried out. That gave her a horrifying thought.  What if Muse decided to go off continent?!  How will I hope to find her if she decided to leave to new lands?!  This is not what I was hoping for...  Soundly defeated, she sat on the ground next to the man.  So soon did she start her journey only for it to be instantly crushed.

No, I have to keep my chin up!  Muse taught me better than to give up!  I'm a living weapon!  And living weapons see their goals through to the end!  I guess that means I'm getting me a passy porty!  With that decided, she started to walk all the way towards the front of the line.

She was then promptly returned to the end of the line, kicking and screaming, by one of the guards.

"Now wait your turn!" the guard said grumpily as he returned to his post.

"Pleeeeh!" Drew stated, sticking her tongue out childishly.  "if I could actually use my magic, I'd just get in front of the line right now..."

Apparently, the line had gotten longer as she had waited.  No, she didn't lose her spot, not quite yet, but she could see the line continue to pick up after she sat down to wait.  When it was time to move forward, she would crawl so as to easily sit back down.  Whenever she looked back, the line was, once again, longer.

"Gee, this passport thingy is important, isn't it?" she replied, watching as the line just kept getting longer and longer, "How the heck did this pass port thingy get important?  I guess a lot of people really really REALLY want to see other places."  Still, she waited patiently while the line continued to grow.

And waited... and waited... aaaaaaannnnnnd waited...

    "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..."

"Snrk, krrk, I'm awake!  I'm wide awake!" she cried out suddenly.

"Where am I?  Am I next in line?"  She looked up to the man who was in front of her before.  Except the man was a woman.  She had a son holding her hand.

"... huh?" came the confused reply from both the woman and Drew herself.  Drew leaned over and discovered a terrible truth.  She was somehow further back in the line.

"H-how?!  How did that happen?!" She cried out in shocked frustration.

"You snooze you loose," said a familiar voice.  It was the man who was originally in front him, walking away with his shiny new passport.  "Sorry if I seem mean about it, but I figured you could use a lesson in getting to complacent."

"PLEEEEEEH!" came her reply, tongue stuck out defiantly as he walked away.  "Fine, I'll just wait in line longer.  This is getting annoying..."

Post by Dandanni 21st October 2016, 1:55 pm

There has to be a way to get in there and get me a pass port thingy! Drew thought to herself, walking back and forth while maintaining her place in line.  Muse has told me enough stories, so I know what's going to happen.  I stay in line, something happens; I stay in line longer, something else happens; I manage to make a good spot only to need a bath room, and when I come back they assume I'm cutting in line and force me to the back of the line; I managed to make it all the way to the end, only for the office to be closed!  Start over the next day, rinse, lather, and repeat!  I need to steam line this or else I'll be forever stuck here!

At that point, she noticed someone else was cutting in line.

This'll be good, they're showing a guy trying to get in.  He'll sure be kicked out as easy as one... two... thre- they let him in?!  WHY?!  What was so different about him?!  She was flabbergasted, but confused as to what the deal was or why?  He was clearly given admission, but all he did was roll back his sleeve and showed off something on it.

"Hey, Miss?" she said, trying to get the attention of the woman in front of her.  "Why did they let that man in?  He just showed them his arm."

"Oh, he must be a guild member," the woman said, "Probably a very high ranking one if they let him in so easily.  He was just showing them his guild mark."

"Ooookaaaay, what's a guild mark?" Drew then ask.

"It's basically proof of membership," the woman continued, "If you have it, it proves you're a member of a guild."

"It's a really cool tattoo!" said the woman's son, "One day, I'm gonna join a guild and there's nothing Mom will be able to do about me getting a tattoo!"  That earned the child a good yank into the woman's arms.

"Oh no you don't," the woman said, "You're going to be a tradesman, like your father, and you are not changing that based on nothing but whim."

"Awwww, but they're soooooo coooool!" the son said, trying to wiggle out of her arms.

A tattoo, huh?  Drew thought to herself.  I have a tattoo...

With that, she made her way to the front of the line, to where the guards were.

"Hey, no cutting in line!" the guard stated.

"Oh, but I'm not cutting," she replied, "I'm a guild member!  See?"  She turned her back and lifted her shirt to show off her unique tattoo.  It showed two pairs of wings.  The first pair were angelic and had a halo above it.  The second pair were demonic and had a devil tail going downward.

True there must have been plenty of guilds, but naturally the guards were confused, and skeptical.

"Oh really?" said one of the guards, "And what is the name of your guild, huh?"

Oh, crud, didn't think of that... make something up, make something up...  She looked around for inspiration, but didn't exactly find much.  The most she could find was some kind of strange cart that seemed to be moving on it's own.

"Hells Angels!" she replied, "We're... a guild... who specializes in travel... on self-propelled... two wheeled vehicles!"  Okay, so she took some liberties from the cart.  It sounded much cooler, too!

The guards paused, looking at each other.

"Look, do I need to get my guildmaster on this?  He'll be upset if he finds out that I didn't get my pass port yet!  After all, as a traveling guild, we can't afford to leave anyone behind!  We'd consider it a crime, even!  So I can go get him and you guys can clear this up-"

"No, no, it's good!  You can go ahead," the guard said.  She did seem to know what she was talking about, suddenly.

"Thank you!" said one very satisfied Drew as she entered.

Finally!  Now I can finally get my pass port!  Muse, I'm coming to find you, I promise!

    "Name?"

    "Drew Stacy!"

"You're a guild member, right?  I saw you mark.  What's your guild?"

    "Hell's Angels!"

"Alright, I'll just need to see some certification and you'll be all set!"

"... certification?" said the confused girl.  It seems she may not have properly thought this through.

"Certification," the official repeated, waiting patiently for Drew to produce proof.  "We need those documents so we can cross reference the known guilds."

    "Um..."

"After all, we want to make sure that you work for a legal guild.  We've had a few run ins with Dark Guild members before."

    "Uuuuummmmm...."

"... if you don't have that, proof of identification will suffice."

    "UUUUUUMMMMMMMM!!!!"

The official was able to read much of the story just from this conversation.

"You're not from an official guild, are you?" he asked.

"Uummm..." Drew said in defeat, slouching all the while.

"Do you even have identification?" the official asked.  "If you're wandering about without an ID-"

"Okay, I'll level with ya," Drew said, figuring she may as well spill the rest of the story.  "I'm a creation.  I'm not sure what the term is, but I was made, not born.  I only just recently left my lab, in fact.  The tattoo?  Not a guild mark.  More like a signature.  Muse likes to mark all of her work with that little symbol."

"So... you're a magic creation... and how can we prove this, I wonder?"

Well, that was an issue.  How exactly does one prove that they were created?  Was there a rule about it?

"Um... well... uh..." Once again, the sulk in defeat.

"Look, I'd really like to help you, I really would," he stated, "but our hands are kind of tied.  Unless that signature is affiliated in anyway with a known mage, there's not much we can-"

"CROSS REFERENCE!" she suddenly cried out.

    "Um... wha?"

"She probably has a passy porty thingy, right?!" Drew stated, "Look for angel devil signature!  She always writes with this signature right at the end of her name!  Her full name is Muse Lucem Tenebras!  It has to be in there, I know it!"

"Alright, alright, we'll cross reference for that," the official stated, "Yeesh, I didn't think anyone would be this anxious!"

"I can't help it," she replied, climbing the table to speak to them face to face, "She left me years ago.  Many many years!  I've been a good girl and waited for her all this time!  I waited because I'm a weapon, a weapon!  If someone took me and figured out how to get my magic to work, they could seriously get me to do all kinds of messes, so she made me wait at home and practice my magic myself!  But I've waited all of this time, and nothing, and I'm getting worried sick over her, so if I could just go out and look for her-"

"I can understand your concern," the official said, "Look, we'll see if we can find her name, but for now, could you please wait in the lobby?  We have other people waiting to get their passports."

".... oh... right, I can do that," she replied, hopping off and heading into the lobby.

Now she got to play her most favorite game of the day, more waiting!  And more waiting...

    And more waiting...

    ... and... more... waiting...

"This is anxiety driving..." she groaned, "how am I going to find Muse if I have to wait this long?!"

    "Who are you looking for?"

Drew looked up to the face of another woman.  Aside from the cloak and silver hair and eyes, she didn't seem to stand out much.  Still, she had the look of a sorceress to her.

"My creator," she sighed, thankful for the company at least.  "I'm out looking for her... I was told to wait for her."

"And how long didja wait?" the woman asked, sitting next to her.

"A lot of years, actually," She replied, "She's disappeared for long periods of time before, but usually no more than maybe... ten months?  I just thought I'd wait incase she came back... plus I don't know much of the outside world, so I guess I was too scared to come out into it before.  Muse always kept telling me that people would try to take advantage of me if they knew what I was."

"Is that so?" the woman replied, "Seems the officials are at least willing to help out, huh?"

"Yeah, but I ended up telling them about what I am.  Now that I think about it... maaaaaaybe not a good idea that..."

"They're probably calling the authorities on you as we speak!" The woman stated.

    "And...?"

"That would be a bad thing," she continued, "You'd be taken into custody and stuff.  Then your search would have to be put on pause for who knows how much longer."

"Yeee... I may have mucked this up, huh?" Drew chuckled nervously, "It's okay.  Once I figure out my magic, I can just escape on my own."

"You seem confident in that," the woman stated.  "Well, from what I can tell, you seem sincere... I normally don't do this, buuuuut..."

"Do... what exactly?" Drew asked, but she didn't get an answer.  The woman just got up and went to the office.  A few moments later, she came back out.

"Good luck to you," she replied simply, "You're gonna need it on your search!"  Again, the woman left before Drew got a chance to get any answers.

"... what was that all about?" Drew asked.  Well, no point in pondering it now.  She just waited until they called her.

"Well, good news and bad news, which do you want first?" the official asked.

"Okay... good news first," she said.

"Good news, an official guild member vouched for you, so you get to have your pass port."

    "Really?!  Wait, who?"

"One Artemis Selene," he added, "It seemed she was willing to prove her credentials and spoke on her behalf."

Wait, was that woman the Artemis in question? Drew thought to herself.  "So... what's the bad news?"

"They looked all through the archives," the official said, "No Muse Lucem Tenebras.  As far as we can tell, she never got a passport or any similar kind of documentation."

"Oh..." was all Drew was able to state.  "I see... But this is good news!  She probably hasn't left the continent yet!  She's still here!"

"Assuming she didn't leave illegally," said another official, earning an elbow to the stomach.

"Even if that's the case, you said I could have my pass port now!  I can still look for her!" Drew said ecstatically.  "It's still win win!"

"Talk about seeing the good in the bad," said the first official, "No wonder that Artemis girl looked out for ya.  We'll go ahead and get your a passport, but be sure not to loose it.  That thing is going to be your official ID from now on."

"I'll treasure it like I will everything else I own!  Which is not a lot, admittedly," Drew stated casually.

"Good.  Oh, one last thing that might help ya out," said the official as he set to work on preparing her documentation, "You might want to consider joining a guild."  That got a look of curiosity on her face.  "I'm gonna guess you don't know what a guild is?"  She confirmed his suspicions.  "Think of it as a group of friends and family working together for a common goal.  If one random guild member was able to help you out this much, think of what a whole guild would do for you!  Heck, we have Lamia near here if you wanna start there!"

"Join a guild... family, huh?" It was too easy a temptation to follow.  As she accepted her pass port, she made certain to ask for directions for Lamia.  She intended to learn as much as she could about guilds now.  There were bound to be more than one guild, and surely one of them would suit her best!  All she had to do now was find out all she could about guilds, to the best of her ability.
