Baby Steps (solo,job)

Takumi walked up to the house of his clients with a smile. Well, it looked like he was going to teach a baby to walk. As soon as the door opened, he was ushered inside. He was startled, but he followed behind his clients as they lead him to a nursery with the baby in a crib. He smiled as he looked at the baby. He supposed the child was rather cute. "We'll be back at noon, so teach our baby to walk before then please." Takumi nodded at his clients, assuring them he would as they left. But to be honest he really didn't know how he was going to do this. He picked the baby up, who giggled as Takumi lifted him.

He put one hand behind his head and sighed. How WAS he going to teach this baby to walk? He set the baby down on the ground, and thought. Perhaps he could start with getting the baby to stand? He just needed something the baby wanted... bingo! He spotted what his clients had told him was the baby's favorite toy. He picked it up, and held it out above and a little in front of the baby. Perhaps this was a weird technique, but it was all he could think of at that moment. He only hoped it would work.

The baby cooed and reached for the toy, but it was just a little too high up. Takumi shook it, trying to get the baby to stay focused on the toy. The baby did stay focused, and was indeed sitting up, but it seemed like he didn't get what he would have to do to get to the toy. Takumi sighed and put the toy down. This clearly wasn't working. Perhaps if he stood the baby up and then tried with the toy? No. He would stand the baby up and hold its hand, and walk the baby around the room slowly. He hoped this would work... Well he was about to find out, wasnt he? Takumi stood the baby up, hoping the baby wouldn't fall over.

The baby didn't fall over as Takumi held one of his hands to steady him, but he did wobble and almost did fall over. Takumi smiled as he saw the baby was now standing... now to get him to walk. Takumi took the baby's other hand while standing in front of him. He slowly moved backwards. With any luck, the baby would follow him. The baby shaking moved one leg forwards, then the other. He had taken a step! Takumi kept moving slowly, to allow the baby to keep up, only taking a step back after the baby had already taken a step.

Takumi kept at it with the baby, and before he knew it the parents were home and the baby was walking on his own, albeit rather shakily. Takumi nodded and smiled at the parents when they had exclaimed that he had done it, that he had taught their baby to walk. The parents went on for awhile, but Takumi listened patiently as they went on about how nobody else could do it. After they realized they were going to talk Takumi to death, they paid him, and he left wondering how it was that nobody had been able to teach this baby to walk. He had done it fairly easily...
