Mashyuu in: Ghosts of the Past

A long cane tapped the cobblestone floor of the streets to the beat of a man's soft but hurried steps. The man wore a black pin striped suit, his face masked in the shadow of a large top hats overcast. He stopped at the front door of the Ace of Spades and tucked his cane under his arm. The man pushed the door open and watched the patrons shy away from the sudden flood of light that spilled into the room. The man, with his pale hands clapped and entered the room. "Where is Mashyuu?" He asked. One of the bartenders pointed to a table in the corner of the room where Mashyuu and Itsu had passed out from drinking hours ago and were now laying atop.

The man walked up to Mashyuu's table and pulled a small note out of his suits pocket. He glanced at the Wizard and grinned wide. The man slammed the note on the table, making it rattle. As Mashyuu lifted his head the man in black vanished in a cloud of smoke, leaving the two Sabertooth Wizards looking down at the note in the middle of the table. Mashyuu's face twisted in anger as he stood up and started to walk towards the door. Itsu glanced at the note and then followed Mashyuu, running to catch up. "Mashyuu, didn't I send that note last year? How is it back?" She asked. Mashyuu seemed to not bother wanting to answer the question and knew exactly where he was going. He exploded into sand and flew away, leaving Itsu to run, following the trail in the sky...

'Monster Dice' :

Mashyuu reformed in the forest outside of a cabin that he had once been to when trying to come to Itsu's aid a year ago. He scowled at the animals, making them run in fear of the man, even the ones that had been infected dared not to approach the Earth God at this point. Itsu came up behind the man and fell to her knees, drawing deep breaths of air that seemed to come in slower than she wanted. Itsu looked up at Mashyuu, barely able to push herself up and frowned. "This is where I died. Someone is playing a very bad joke on us." Itsu wasn't happy about what she saw, the note she tried to get to Mashyuu a year ago, the forest she was chased into and the cabin she was killed in.

Suddenly a pair of phantoms rushed out of the wall of the cabin some forty feet away from them and charged the two Wizards. Mashyuu jumped to the right while Itsu rolled left, dodging both of the ghosts first strikes. Mashyuu drove his fist up and into a ghost, swinging right through it. A flashback of nearly being killed by ghosts flooded through him. The man cursed under his breath at the misfortune of not being able to harm a ghost. He took off in a straight line, kicking up dirt behind him as he ran from the ghosts, Itsu right behind him. "Mashyuu.... If they have all this other stuff, do they maybe have... My old body?" Itsu asked darkly while the duo raced through the forest.

Blue eyes narrowed at Itsu and Mashyuu glared at her. "...You shouldn't be here. It's dangerous and you might get hurt if you see what this monster has done to your old body." Mashyuu replied. He glanced over his shoulder and looked at the flying ghosts behind them, giving chase to the two Wizards. Mashyuu jumped up and twisted around throwing his hands out to aim at the monsters and condensed light particles then shouted out. "Light Dragons Holy Shower!" He called out, launching a stream of pure energy into the Ghosts, destroying the monsters on impact while lighting up the forest at the same time. As Mashyuu landed he scooped up some earth and rubbed it on his massive arms, a soft smile on his face. "Almost forgot I could do that." He said while looking up into the dark forest. It sucked that he couldn't absorb light in the forest to restore his magical power but at least he could eat earth.

"Okay, lets get into that cabin and see what is up there." Itsu walked through the forest and pushed the door to the cabin open. It creaked and stopped against a wall. The impact shaking dust from the rafters of the log cabin. Mashyuu stepped in behind Itsu and looked around at the place. Dead animals were stuffed and placed all over the place, wooden furniture lined the walls and a table rested atop a wooden door that led to a basement. "Itsu, you really shouldn't be here right now." Mashyuu whispered to his friend and had a flashback of being chased through the cabin and leaping out a window.

Suddenly the door slammed shut behind Mashyuu and all the doors around the pair inside the cabin swang open, five to be exact, counting the one under the table. Mashyuu grabbed Itsu and pulled her back as five horrid looking gaunt zombies rushed the two. Mashyuu's body flared up with golden light, his hair flying up and wavering while changing to a golden hue. The Zombies suddenly recoiled and hissed at Mashyuu while he grinned and took a step forward. With each step he took the monsters likewise moved back a pace. This continued until Mashyuu had them against a wall. Mashyuu grinned and lashed a fist out into the face of one of the ghouls, cracking it's jaw and making it howl in pain and rage. The moment Mashyuu delivered the attack the other four monsters swarmed the Wizard, risking pain to save their partner. Four of the Ghouls rotted away by simply touching Mashyuu but the the one Mashyuu had hit before remained standing. Using the blood from its allies to slide against the wall, the monster fled into the darkness of one of the halls leaving Mashyuu and Itsu alone in the shadowy cabins living room.

"You okay over there?" Mashyuu asked Itsu and she shuddered and nodded. "Y-yeah I'll be okay. I don't know how much good I'll be here though and now we are trapped inside the cabin." Itsu whimpered and hugged Mashyuu tight, afraid that she would only get in his way. "Hey, just like in the haunted guild, don't worry. Stay behind me and just make sure we aren't attacked from behind." Mashyuu said kindly while petting Itsu's hair and keeping her calm.

Itsu looked up at Mashyuu, a gentle smile on her face and a safe feeling in her heart. "Thanks for being such a good friend." Mashyuu patted her head and started to walk in the direction of the fleeing Ghoul when the door of the basement slammed shut and opened again. Startled, Mashyuu slipped to the side of Itsu and made sure her back was against a wall while he glared at the wooden door. "Okay, I'll check it out. Wait here." Mashyuu started towards the door and looked down into the darkness until suddenly a hand, gaunt and decaying reached up and grasped his brown gi. It clenched tight and pulled the man into the darkness, the door slammed shut and locked, leaving Itsu alone...

In the darkness, Mashyuu grabbed an arm and pulled it free of his shirt. His body flared up with a familiar golden light. The monster that had grabbed him shrieked in pain as the light burned its flesh. Mashyuu smiled wide and looked at the horde of monsters in the basement cabin, ten zombies to be exact and ten monsters Mashyuu was about to punch to death.

While Mashyuu dropped below ground, Itsu ran to the door and tried to pull it open, only to have three ghouls grasp her shoulders from behind. She shrieked with terror and reached back, slamming her thumb into the eyes of one of her attackers, making it howl in rage while she was pulled to her back and forced to look up at her to be killers. Itsu threw her leg up in fear and hit another ghoul in the shoulder. The blow sent the Ghoul rocketing backwards and into a chair, splintering it in the process.

Itsu winced and reeled her arm back, slamming her fist into the last monsters head, the blow back hurting her arm and causing her foes head to explode on impact. The blow itself hurt Itsu but saved her from being bitten by the monster. She scrambled to get up on her feet but the woman was grasped by the hair by the other two Ghouls and dragged into the darkness of the halls that made up the passages of the cabin.

In the basement Mashyuu heard Itsu scream and looked up, fear and concern in his eye. Mashyuu looked back at the Ghouls under ground with him and took on his mountain stance. The Ghouls rushed Mashyuu and started to swipe at him with sharp claws. Three strikes landed on the Wizard but in return the monsters found themselves being turned to ash from simply touching the man who lit up with golden light. With three down Mashyuu charged in on the others, letting the heat of his holy power bounce off him and slam in a wave against the beasts. Mashyuu swept the legs of one monster, destroying the legs of it, and making the monster explode in a cloud of ash. The man came back up and called out. "Dragon Fist!" His attack caught another monster in the jaw, knocking its head clear off its body. As his attack followed through he tucked and rolled, putting himself in the corner of the basement and extended a hand. "Light Dragons Holy Shower!" He called out, blasting a few zombies in the face and melting them.

With that done the other monsters ran and jumped into a few small holes, escaping Mashyuu and his holy light. The Wizard slowly climbed up the ladder and looked around, Itsu was gone. His eyes went wide and he started to sniff the air. "Oh crap oh crap oh crap." He whispered while following the scent of Itsu to try to save her.

If it wasn't for Mashyuu's enhanced senses the Slayer would have never even been able to pick up Itsu's scent. She would have been lost but as it was he could rest assured knowing that she hadn't been gone for more than a few moments. He could see the sign of struggle that she put up in the fight, the dead body and the smashed chair. Mashyuu darted down the hall and rounded a corner into a long, dimly lit kitchen. Strapped to the table and gagged was Itsu, struggling to free herself. Above her was a fixture of lights that had daggers strapped to the lights and aimed down at the woman. She looked at Mashyuu and shook his head left to right frantically.

Mashyuu was about to step forward when he realized Itsu was trying to warn him of some danger. He stopped and took a deep breath of air, wondering if she knew what the danger was. He couldn't smell anything other than himself and Itsu, but indeed noticed the smell of fire coming from further in the room. He glanced with his blue eyes and spotted a fire brewing in the distance, burning a rope that when snapped would drop the blades atop Itsu's chest, killing her on the spot.

With a quick flick of his arm, a stone wall shot up at the end of the table Itsu was strapped to, flipping it up and over, forcing the woman to flip backwards and land on her face. The fire finished burning the rope and the blades smashed into the floor where Itsu's chest once was. She shrieked but felt her body tremble with relief, happy that Mashyuu had managed to save her. He started to step into the room when his foot caught a trip wire and he fell, the ground dropping out from under him and launched him deep underground.

Mashyuu hit the ground hard, groaning from the sudden feeling of finding land under his feet and back. The brown haired man writhed on the ground, slowly sat up and dusted himself off. Before him stood the man in the black suit and the old body of Itsu. "Give that body to me now..." Mashyuu demanded while he pulled himself up off the ground and took his fighting stance. "What? Itsu's body? No no. I need this." The man in black said while he patted the body on the back.

As the man in black finished patting the woman she lifted her head and snarled at Mashyuu, her jaw opening wide and sharp teeth jutted out of her mouth. "This thing will be the herald of your death. Long live the cult!" He shouted, sending the zombie after Mashyuu. Blue eyes narrowed while he struggled to keep the power of his Dragon Slayer abilities from flaring up, not wanting to do more damage to Itsu's old body could handle.

The undead Itsu jumped at Mashyuu, her mouth clamped down on his forearm, making his eyes roll into the back of his head. His left foot came up and slammed hard into the chest of the zombie, pushed and knocked the woman backwards into a stone wall. Golden energy burst off the Wizard as he started to say a silent prayer. "Light Dragons Healing Word: Cleanse!" He called out, purifying the dangerous wound that would have turned him into a zombie. The undead woman growled in rage, then charged Mashyuu again. This time he ducked her strike and slammed his shoulder into her knees, flipping her from the weight of his attack. His eyes locked with the dark eyes of the man in black who grinned wide but didn't say a word. He lifted his cane and spun it around in his palm, masking him in shadow. Itsu hissed as she twisted around and grabbed Mashyuu's shoulder and tried to yank him backwards. Mashyuu however didn't budge but swang his fist up and backwards, smashing his closed fist into the woman, knocking her teeth out and slamming her into the wall again.

The heavy blow Mashyuu drove into the reanimated corpse of Itsu sent the monster into the wall behind it, breaking the bone that was left and forcing it to fall to the ground, no longer able to move. Mashyuu glared at the man who put himself in a shield of darkness and roared with anger. His palms came back to his hips and started to condense light. "Light Dragons Holy Shower!" He called out, driving his palms out and hurling multiple beams of light into the shadow magic.

The beams smashed into the shield, shattering the armor and revealing the man in the black suit standing still with a grin on his face, cane planted firmly into the ground and his hat tipped low on his head. "Now Mashyuu, is this really all worth it. Wouldn't you rather just head on home with Itsu. You already stopped me from doing what I was going to with the body. What more could you possibly do right now?"

The man in black clapped his hands softly while placing his cane under his arm. Slowly he walked up to Mashyuu, sure to make sure their eyes were locked with one another. The man stopped about a foot away from Mashyuu, still well within striking distance. "My boy, I didn't want to do all this. I prefer to leave the dead, dead. But when you come back I have to see how on earth you did so without being a zombie. And for that matter how did Itsu get an entirely new body?" The man asked Mashyuu with a curious look plastered on his face.

Mashyuu growled low and reached out, grabbing the man by the neck and burned his foes flesh. The man in black smiled wide and held up his hand. "Now, now. You haven't heard the deal I'd make in exchange for that information." The man smiled wide and winked at Mashyuu then dropped his cane to the ground. Mashyuu pulled the man close and smashed his face into the mans. "I'll tell you where the cult is hiding! Just tell me how you came back!" The man pleaded.

Mashyuu wanted to tell him, what could it hurt in the long run? Not much but Mashyuu knew that at his best he wasn't a match for the best of the cult, he needed to be stronger. Knowing where this cult hung out at the moment wouldn't help him do anything but get killed all over again. Mashyuu threw the man down and kicked him in the gut, forcing the man to roll to his back and groan in pain. He grasped his cane and whispered a word of magic into it. He vanished in a puff of smoke, fleeing Mashyuu and the battle at hand, not wanting to face the wrath of someone who had to destroy a loved ones body twice.

Slowly Mashyuu turned around and started to climb up a ladder, his body sore from using his holy magic as he still wasn't used to it and had used a lot of power already in the day. He pushed a trap door open and started to crawl through a small passage on his belly, annoyed that he had to crawl under the crawlspace to begin with. "I can't believe I let that guy get away. How stupid of me to do something like that. I can only hope Itsu is okay up here..."

Mashyuu pulled himself up and into the cabin, only to look up and see Itsu standing above him with a grin on her face. "Nice fall, did you see my body?" Isu asked and he grinned wide. "I see it now, nice dress." Mashyuu joked. The woman blushed and jumped back so he couldn't see up her dress. Mashyuu got up and dusted himself off then nodded. "I did. A Necromancer wanted to know how you got a new body and how I came back from the dead. I didn't tell him." Mashyuu admitted and patted the woman on the back. "Come on, lets go home. I know where to go next." Mashyuu suggested. Itsu smiled and hugged Mashyuu tight and gave him a kiss on the cheek. It didn't take long for Mashyuu to wrap his arm around her waist and pull her in close. He was flooded with memories both good and bad of their time together and he wouldn't trade them for the world. Together the two made their way home, sure that their fight against the cult was just getting started.
