Up the steps towards the pristine Magic Council HQ walked a small line of Rune Knights returning from their duties in the surrounding city that the HQ overlooked.  The city of Era,  largely rebuilt after the dragon attack years ago now.   They didn't even bother to relocate to somewhere more secure.  They just rebuilt themselves,  careless to the threat that the same dragon posed.  It could return at any day,  at any time.  But the dragon was not their only problem.  They wouldn't have to worry about that,  not today.

Eris had other plans for them.  Plans that would soon be seen,  already in motion as she walked through the wide doors of the Council hall,  following the Knight in front of her.  She looked just as any of them,  no hint of a dark presence to be had.  Just one of many Rune Knights.  The patrol's leader walking them to the barracks below the main level,  down gilded halls and polished floors.   The Magic Council HQ was practically a palace, perched high above the city itself atop of its steep domed "mountain", a large hill really, in the center of it all.

When they made their way to the barracks they had time to kill on their own before being given orders.  Not the impatient sort,  Eris sat with the other knights on benches in a locker room.  The memories ripped from the Knight who's flesh she wore told her all she needed to know.   Which locker was hers,  the combination.  She knew the faces of the family in the picture set on the inside of the door.  Depending on how well things went she might reunite the family one way or another,  as a little reward for aiding in today's efforts whether this man wanted to or not.

She wasn't here for the picture though.  Inside the locker was the lunch the wife had made this morning,  prepared in a plastic box and a note inside addressing the man.   As was his habit,  Eris kissed the photo on the door before closing it,  withdrawing the lunch she was now eating on the bench as the other knights bantered,  laughing along with them and giving her own quips in response.

As planned though,  a head Knight was back before long with their orders.   Dungeon duty.  A prisoner was to be relocated,  and so a team of Knights had to come and escort them away.   The Dungeons were below it all,  below the palace-like headquarters,  in the heart of the city of Era.    It wasn't long now.   Eris placed the plastic box back in the locker and threw on the blue uniform again that they had taken off as they all relaxed,  and followed the patrol to the dungeons.

The dungeons at first were well maintained and well lit, with humane living conditions for those kept within.   These were the public dungeons however.  Many of those here were not mages, or were not serious criminals.   This wasn't where they were going.  The "real" dungeons were deeper,  and the halls gave way into what were closer to tunnels leading down with a curve.   These dungeons were somewhat damp and the only lights were a lacrima lights set into the front surfaces mostly just for the sake of guards,  and not the well being of the prisoners down here.

Eris knew there were deeper levels yet to be had here,  secrets hidden by the council.   Chambers,  old mine shafts leading deep into the earth.   Some other time perhaps.  For now,  Eris was deep enough.  Some of the things kept down below were best buried anyway, and she was sure she didn't even know everything that may be lurking down there.

They were here.   From small black voids lances of bone shot forward to impale the other Knights around her,  pinning them to the ground or to walls as they gasped for breath and struggled against the bones in shock.  Blue fire bled from their eyes and poured out from their mouths as they shriveled.

As their blood dripped from their wounds in excessive quantities,  as though they were being wringed out like wet sponges.  The five Knights she killed directly around her,  not counting the knights that were slain elsewhere in the room with her,  fueled the ritual she had started.   Fiery runes appeared to flash in the air in rapid succession around her,  each rune flooding the minds of the few living prisoners who may be on looking with knowledge,  a form of pure language that translated into direct understanding as a means of conveying information.   Whole books could be passed in a single flash of runes,  weeks,  even months worth of ritual chants were being used every few seconds to power whatever it was she was doing.

The blood on the ground seemed to be reacting to her,  forming narrow lines and circles around her,  even drawing out symbols and shapes in complex patterns around her.  Something big was happening,  and it could be felt throughout the town as an ill omen.  A warm sunny day suddenly became chilly,  and grew more grey as clouds started to move in.   But the source was unknown,  Eris was still shielded.  Her aura still hidden,  but the effects could be seen in nature itself,  the land straining to coexist with the darkness at hand.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
Era was a place he had not visited often, quite ironic given his position and state of being. One would expect him to be patrolling the city at all times, or looking out at it in some balcony with a fancy room just behind it, waiting for danger and trouble. Fortunately he had a life that involved much more thrill and engagement within the outdoors than one would expect; he possessed no home, no living quarters, no nothing. He was a vagabond with the clothes on his back, the items in his arsenal, and Magic flowing through his veins. With his method of living--wandering from place to place in search of work and jobs--it would quite easily be anticipated and expected that he would miss events and dangers in certain areas. Although he also possessed an unbelievable amount of luck, or unluckiness depending on one's viewpoint; he always seemed to be where danger was. On his journeys he found himself to be stopping at locations whenever he needed the rest, or merely felt like it.

It had been a while since he visited Era, so for the sake of being there to perhaps visit the council and report about what he had been doing in his adventures, or just taking it all in... that's where he found himself. Specifically he located himself within Era's actual city, and rather than just buying himself some random cheap room just to spend the night, he evaluated that perhaps he deserved some kind of break or reward for all that had happened ever since he visited Era on that faithful day; the day where he swore an oath that he would protect the Council and Fiore in the name of greater good. Of course he had hardly done that, given that he didn't even have the opportunity. The place he had chosen to stay was a very, very fancy hotel, one enough to have carpeting all around trimmed with golden threads. Perhaps the best part about it all was the fact that he didn't even need to drop a single Jewel to pay for his room; he was in the heart of Era, so he just dropped his name and title and was given one of their best rooms for free.

Accompanied by someone, and given a dessert in the form of a strawberry sundae along the way, Deniel was given a room up on the third floor, complete with a queen sized bed, a balcony, an illustrious porcelain bathroom, and more space in that single 'room' than he ever had in anything else he gave. There was no doubt in his mind that it beat the old wooden places in Talonia that he oftentimes stayed in. He dropped his cloak, his coat, his boots, and most of his magic items and possessions he held on him just right on the floor, and the first place he visited was the balcony. He burst through the windows that doubled as doors for it, and gazed down below at Era's city, and looked off to the distance at the Magic Council's headquarters.

Not long later he found himself still at the balcony, but had been sitting on its table and chair that accompanied the view. After all of his adventuring and traveling, relaxation in a place like Era was something that had been long overdue for him, though it did not last long. Very soon there came this feeling of ill intent inside of him... a looming danger within Era. The sunny summer air quickly turned chilly with the skies darkening. Deniel, with his feet no longer on the table, looked up and out at everything below him, sensing some kind of evil... but one that was well hidden. The unnatural occurrence of the weather, and the feeling within the air all totaled up to a single evaluation in his mind: "Something's not right."

Hera let out a huge yawn, sitting up as she stretched impressively. Her rack and curves would have caused any man to pass out at this moment, as she lazily ruffled her hair. Almost dozing back off but looking out of the window as she smacked her lips, sleepily.

In the background as she walked in only a white T-shirt, and pink panties, the weather was undergoing a very slow-darkening. She would brush her teeth, and even make coffee as outside the effects of something....began to occur. Sitting at the table of her hotel room, she looked around.

Standing up, she got dressed, throwing on her usual pink sweater with the white FT logo emblazoned on the front, and her usual pair of cowgirl boots, she would tap them onto the plush carpeted rooms ground, and step out onto the balcony; gripping the hot cup of coffee with her hands as she stepped into the sunlight; the first thing that hit her was a familiar wall of magical presence; one that she was trained to sense, but also bound to never reveal.

The presence, caused her to drop her coffee mug and with a loud; shatter, she would look around. After gripping her head. She spotted a man, one who she'd seen before...one of the Gods of Ishval? Wow. This man shared that title with her Father, one of the strongest wizards on the entire continent. But even he was nothing compared to the person she sensed now....her old teacher. Someone the world thought was all bad, but her Father knew to be good in her own way deep down. The one who'd taught Hera to kill as her Father never could. A skill she kept hidden as a Fairy Tail wizard. An apprenticeship her Mother was against, but Father had willed before he died. Eris. She was here.

She stared at Deniel, blanking out as she raised an eyebrow at him. Following his eyes, she looked toward the Magic Council's HQ. She would keep her Mentor safe, and since she had a special connection with her, she merely used her H-Ranked Sense and before long she could see her Mentor walking, posed as a Rune Knight. Smirking at her cleverness, Hera also was way better at Transformation Magic than her Father due to Eris' tutelage. Fortunately she had retained the bloodline ability for Transformation into People, Objects, and even Animals from her Father.

As the weather continued to darken, Hera would disappear in a huge train of Lightning that zoomed up from the balcony, in a huge golden flash. Likely startling the wizard on the balcony next to her. Being Alyia and Heero's daughter, the irony of them both being in such a nice hotel was amazing.

In the blood stained halls, behind the Rune Knight who was actually Eris, a golden bolt would appear in the room with but a whistle of air, as Hera landed out of it. Immediately, she would use her Transformation Magic as her clothes switched to that of a female Rune Knight, the magic happened in but a whirl of smoke, as she gripped her new sword at her hilt, a stylish white scarf that was part of the white and baby blue uniform flowing behind her that had appeared during her split second Transformation.

"Well then, let's keep moving. What're we after. We might have company soon by the way." Hera warned of Decayuss, who like her was a Nephalem. Although Hera had no idea she was half angel. A secret kept from her, omitted from her father's journals that her Mom was an Angel. Even Eris hadn't divulged her status as a Nephalem to her yet.

Flicking her eyes to the floor, the blonde was well versed in Necromancy as she realized what Eris was doing.

"What do you hope to gain by putting anything in the minds of these low lifes....." Hera said as she walked alongside her former Mentor, having ran away from Fairy Tail for a few years to study under her after finding instructions from her Father. She understood why her father wanted her to study under Eris, he never had understood the Dark Arts fully himself, only fought to crush them. He wanted Hera to be different.

As she passed the many cells, she would sweatdrop as she looked in a few of them. Most of the men or women inside were zoned out with flaming runes dancing around their heads briefly every now and then. Shaking her head at the poor souls, she merely continued to follow behind Eris, also lowering her Magic Power to that of a D-Ranked Rune Knight, or lower as she did so. Since her Magic Power was extremely vibrant and could be felt for miles otherwise.

As they continued to walk the dark halls, she could only wonder what she was after here. Knowing this Witch had seen more horrors in her own practice with magic than most ever confronted in her lifetime, it probably was something good.

The ruckus going about in the Magic Council's courtyard wasn't anything out of the ordinary; soldiers and officials off duty spend their time training and roughening their fists upon these courts whenever they could. Some returned to their families once their duties were finished, but those who had none to return to rather mingled with their fellow less-fortunate. It had supposed to be a cloudless day, thus when the clouds started gathering high above their heads, some stared up, rather hoping it wouldn't rain than noticing the ominous message it actually held. Some felt off about it, and among those few, Ageha had been one of them. The young recruit made the mistake however of gazing up, being caught off-guard by the incoming fist of her sparring partner that now nicely connected with her cheek. She did not budge however; as her magic made her fairly immune to the impact of melee attacks and spells. The punch stung, and the silver-haired grunted as her leg connected with the man's abdomen, the kick packing enough power to send the man flying into another pair in the midst of their spar.

Ageha kept her balance as her leg kept hovering in the air at shoulder-height, and slowly lowered it back to the ground as her gaze yet again climbed upwards, seemingly bothered with the ominous feeling behind it. It was odd though; it seemed as if those clouds were all gathering above Era, with the Magic Council as its core... Lightning soared through the sky and crashed into the highest point of the Magic Council's Headquarters, with it startling many a few as the crackling noise faded in the eerily silent air. Birds had stopped singing their songs of spring, and even the wind had ceased guiding his powerful currents throughout the courtyards and buildings, whereas it was still clear that it raged outside the premisses of the HQ. Footsteps neared her, and as the Divine Steel mage wanted to turn a hand was put on her shoulder, keeping her from turning around. "Something's amiss, child... very amiss."

Ageha nodded in agreement to the familiar voice's statement. She felt it too now, even stronger than before; this ominous feeling had grown darker. The scent of death lingered. Oddly enough, this scent did not come from their vicinity, yet from the building right in front of them. If she, a lowly recruit who but barely grasped her own magic, could feel it so clearly now, then she wondered what her foster-father would be sensing at this point. The tightening grip upon her shoulder however spoke enough words, and she did not bother to move. "Father... This sensation... this scent..."

"I have no idea what you mean with this 'scent', child, but the sensations coming from within our midst. They are threaded with dark arts. We have to check it out."

Ageha nodded in silence, wondering if she was imagining the scent of death. Of flames. She wondered, yet took it upon herself to not lose too many a thought about it. They had to found the source of this menacing feeling, and if possible, expel it from the HQ's walls. About to call out for her father's recruits to gather, the man stopped her suit and pushed her onward to the main hall. "No, Ageha. This will be a Relrye matter only. If it turns out to be but a wrong guess, my reputation will be ruined... and if it is what I think it is, then we cannot afford to sacrifice their lives." The captain-called commander said as he gestured her to move on with a single nod. The twosome left the courtyard in all calmth, to only be met with an even eerier presence once they entered the main halls. They heard lightning strike yet again, whereafter the pressure of magical prowess rose threefold. Not even Ageha couldn't have this pass unnoticed, but as soon as it rose, it vanished again, though be it that not all of the overpowering presences had stopped being present.

Cain pinpointed the presences radiating from within the dungeons, and thus lead his foster-daughter with him down the stairs, slowly descending towards the what they called the bellows of the HQ's underground. It was a mocking name, for what happened down there wasn't known to most recruits and members, at least, not what happened in the deepest parts of the dungeons. Some parts were barred from entering, so even those on guard duty had no idea where or what the lower parts lead to. As they closed in on the powerhouses' presence, Ageha's nosethrills trembled at the increasing scent of death, and at one point nearly caused her to gag. Dealing with it was the only option for now, but it made shreds of memories resurface she wasn't ready yet to face. Within her chest her heart pounded menacingly, an odd heat slowly spreading throughout her veins with every heartbeat. The warmth seemed to put her at ease, although it made her wonder as to what was causing it, seeing as the cold and breezy environment they found herself in had no such things that could warm her. An arm barring her to continue swiftly mowed down those thoughts, and the young silver-haired woman's focus returned almost instantly.

In the distance, the silhouettes of three persons were to be seen. The path leading towards them dotted with bodies or remnants of those, blood tainting the corpses, walls and floors alike. Death's presence was all there, and the young Rune Knight couldn't help it as her body started shivering almost automatically, not out of fear that she herself was supposed to fear. No, this was more of a primal instinct that lesser beings had when nearing a creature far above their own league. Cain seemed to have no issues with it and squeezed her hand so she could calm down, then slowly snuck closer to follow the conversation the threesome were about to have. It was odd to see that one, upon closer inspection, wore the Rune Knights' attire, but did not seem familiar in posture, whereas another, the one the intruding twosome was facing, was recognized as a familiar face, on that had served the Rune Knights for years. Yet the oddity of the flaming rune symbols bothered the Relrye family head, who seemed to be familiar with their usage, but not their true meaning. Having no idea whether their presences had been felt or not; not that what they would sense would actually pose much of a threat. Ageha as a D-rank wasn't even capable of forcing her magical essence into hiding, whereas Cain himself actually had his armor imbued with small lacrimas that blocked his magic from radiating any further than his armor. If any of them were to be noticed, their attire would not suspect them to be part of the Rune Knights; safe from Ageha's Rune Knight symbol, tattooed on her left inner arm. Cain Relrye himself, sporting his eagle armor and red cloak, did look more like a mercenary than a Rune Knight official. The man was merely affiliated with the Magic Council and did not wish to have lasting bonds with the Rune Knights in any way, thus refrained from making it look that way too. The twosome slowly edged closer, each picking up a sword from their fallen, mutilated comrades as they went.

Post by Eris 7th July 2016, 12:00 pm

I'm finally feeling a little better.  I've had headaches keeping me down all week to the extent that I kept stumbling about and knocking things over or running into people with a crippled sense of awareness.  Sorry for the delay.

As mentioned in PM's,  Heero's post really doesn't work.  As should have been made clear,  Eris is hidden and actively avoiding detection (There is just an ill omen and general foreboding as a result of her ritual casting), the character app wasn't even approved when the post occurred,  and there was yet to be any communication on this "Time skip".   You can post again of course.  It'll be much more obvious that Eris is here... right about now.

    Eris cannot be detected when she does not wish it.  (I have to say this a lot) Not by any character I've read, as it would certainly require at least an S or greater with a focus on detection, like I have a focus on nondetection.  Which is necessary since everyone and their mother likes to say they can sense the villain in their midst.  I try to make it clear by describing how she's laying low or moving about undetected or outright stating that she has no aura,  or a false aura at times but it never works ^,...,^;

Ugh it really puts a mood dampener on things to say this stuff.   I'm just gonna let it all slide though since I like the post.  Not deleting what I've said though so it still gets out there.

I wouldn't want to be Ageha though.   You can use what I said as reason to course-correct and not be there if you'd like,  or continue to approach. Baring in mind there's no one to help you,  as even if Hera is there she wouldn't be able to stop Eris's actions, Decayus is far in the city,  and no one else has joined.

    Eris

The song that originally motivated me to make a villain character.  Along with the FC I was originally using before I submitted the final character app.  Time to use it for a post <3

Eris may have seemed focused on the ritual she was performing,  but in truth such things came as easy to her as breathing.  The runes carried the meaning and intention behind them that would normally have to be provided through chanting,  preferably by many.  This spell itself would have taken months of chanting by a very large gathering of cultists to perform,  but as Eris's burning runes flickered through the air like sparks the ritual was nearly complete.  Blood spiraled in over the basic circle and pentagram,  many arms of the spiral swooping in to close around a smaller circle at Eris's feet and finish filling in a number of symbols in the empty spaces and surrounding the perimeter of the circle.

It was not one,  but many rituals being cast in unison by the hand of a master.  The magic of the rituals cast a foul darkness on the room.  Light was tainted red and dimmed unnaturally,  the torches dimming to less than a candle's light.   The walls seemed to peal and corrode,  flakes floating away from their source.   A dull pulse could be felt in the air as though some great heart was hiding just out of reach of one's perception.  The  surrounding room was a horror show,  as impaled corpses could be seen only faintly in the red-hued darkness,  only to be seen as the shriveled bloodless bodies of what once were men.

When the two Knights,  presumably,  stumbled their way towards the room they were in for a surprise.  Not because of the appearance of the place,  not because of the heart clutching fear that filled the room and beyond with each closing step,  but because Eris could see them approach.

They weren't necessarily a threat to her in the traditional sense.  But Eris wasn't here to play nice.  As they approached the door to Eris's chamber a skull silently hovered out from a crack in the air with an angry expression carved into the bone and the endless void behind its eyeless sockets.  Just looking at it claws at the mind threatening to deliver nightmares for years to come.

Whether or not the door would be opened isn't entirely relevant, as the skull was primed to attack through the door as though it were not there.  But it was timed more specifically to greet the Knights when they did, unless delayed.   It's jaw suddenly snapping open in a silent scream as a long spear-tipped spinal column surges forward like a bullet with a wet meaty sound.

In the moment before doing so the hall or stairwell behind bloomed with a flurry of skeletal limbs with long arms and clawed hands sprouting out from the floor and walls in a thick bramble-like writhing mass of bone appendages reaching out seeking flesh to rend or grab,  blocking the way back first before continuing to rise out past them through the door and spilling into the chamber itself in a large area of entanglement giving just enough time for the welcoming skull to greet them before the skull itself would be encased.

Drawing her attention back to her work for a moment longer Eris made made a grabbing gesture towards her chest.  Her fingers glowing with heat as blue flames and smoke began to pour out from where one's heart should be.  A fiery crack appearing down from her collar bone down past her naval as though threatening to split her body in two.   She had no blood of her own,  only the smoke and flames that she drew out from herself in a long arc and gathered in a sphere in her hand.    Cracks that glowed with heat splintered out along her arms from her hands and out from her eyes,  which had faded and blackened around their sockets.   Her eyes themselves disappearing to reveal only small beads of fire.

Closing her hand into a fist around the sphere of her own essence the flames burst and rained down on the bloody ritual circle at her feet,  igniting the blood into a circle of blue fire as the entire building and 'mountain' they resided in shook,   a tremor that continued to rise in intensity to effect much of the city.

A disk-like plane grew in the air above her head growing wider by the second as a structure started to rise.  When it met the ceiling there was a crack and dust fell as it continued to grow wider and push upwards careless to the surroundings.

Slowly,  the mountain was split and the building overhead, the Magic Council's Headquarters,  started to crumble as a massive thing appeared in its place.   Rubble rained down around it for a while longer,  much of the council building collapsing but sections of it remained intact upon the top of the structure that appeared.   Still continuing to grow and rise up high into the air until the full shape was revealed.   A large castle-like building of some sort it could be described as.  Formed from a large array of titan-sized skulls and long bony limbs like fingers,  but massive.   Horns curved upwards from the skulls around it's top like a crown.   Black pits like deep abysses peering out from its many eye sockets.   Part castle, part undead abomination,  the exact nature of the thing couldn't be certain.

But it's effects were obvious.   Anyone throughout the city of Era could see the titanic structure,  it's shadow eclipsing the sun as it loomed over the city.   It alone was big enough to house thousands itself.   But the minds of the masses could not fully comprehend what they were looking at,  or stand to face the abyss that it brought with it.   Minds snapped,  and citizens were driven to madness.   Some clawing at their eyes,  some sinking to their knees,  broken.   Some began to bleed from every pore.   Others screaming and writhing on the ground clutching their heads.

It was a Citadel of Horror,  risen up in the center of the city.  Carrying with it the remains of the Magic Council and Rune Knight HQ at it's top,  cradled between its horns,  or whatever was left of the building as its foundation was taken out from under it.

The Citadel turned slowly in midair,  something about it's speed itself grating at the minds.  Not too fast, not too slow.  The way it moved defying gravity.  For each moment since it appeared the light throughout the city faded away.  Light itself recoiling from the abomination that had been brought into this world.  Even the darkness did not behave right,  closing in on all.  Enveloping them in their own personal hells.  To the common man it was blinding.  But to the mages and persons of interest the darkness was staved off to an extent,  behind held at bay but only enough to see things a certain distance away,  like their own personal arenas.  The stronger the individual,  the larger the arena.

As the darkness closed in,  the citadel disappearing from sight,  wailing shrieks of new horrors could be heard in the distance,  the unseen Citadel spilling out what monsters it had in store.   It wasn't alone however,  as a flurry of hellgates broke through the air throughout the remnants of the mountain as Eris called forth her own undead creations and servants from hell,   along with what Grims were waiting the Call.   A horde of twisted creatures spilling out from the rifts around the mountain,  undead men and demons alike howling in the thrill of a new hunt.

The Citadel's own creatures did not respond to Eris's commands herself,  they were more mindless and chaotic,  driven only by the need to kill.   Spiders, smaller spires of bone that hovered around,  writhing masses of tentacles protruding up from the nest of skulls around them,  horned skulls,  long skeletal centipedes that moved through the air like chinese dragons.  None of them could be seen,  only the directionless howls of the undead, scattered by the darkness,  until they faded into view out from the shadows and into the dim red-tinted perception the darkness allowed,  closing on on what new victims there were to be had.

Chaos had broken out,  and the bonds of death shattered to spill out upon the land.   As for Eris,  she stood still for a moment,  the cracks across her surfaces fading,  her eyes fading back in revealing closed eyes,  when she opened them her body was full again.  She needn't draw attention to herself.    In a swirl of smoke Eris vanished from the now topless dungeon chamber,  the Citadel hovering overhead.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
Something didn't feel right, but that was all there was to it. Everything else seemed to be perfectly normal for the time being, which meant one of two things to him: he was just imagining things, or the danger hadn't conveyed itself yet. Either way, he sadly only had one option: wait. There wasn't any evil or danger he could truly sense or pinpoint, so tracking it down wasn't the best option, unless he would want to devote hours of his time to attempt to follow something he had no idea was even there. And the only option he really had was just sit there on his balcony and wait; whatever the source of this was--if there was one--it certainly would show its motivations or purpose sooner or later. In preparation in case something was coming, however, the Nephalem began to take precautions for himself; he made sure all of his clothing was on his body and gathered, the Amulet of the Moon hung around his neck and tucked inside of his shirt as well, just alongside his Nephalem Cross. It wasn't necessarily night time, but... one could never be too prepared. And of course he kept his blade Nidhogg nearby, in the form of a pet wrapped around his shoulders that could come to his aid at a moment's notice. And finally, an item he had kept on him for quite a while now, but never found any uses for: The Seal of Solomon.

Shortly after finishing his preparation, everything started to fall into place. It started out as a stronger sense of the looming danger within the air, until eventually there were tremors beneath the earth. Only a slight detection at first, it gradually grew in its magnitude and intensity. Not wanting to waste his time indoors, the Nephalem--with all of his arsenal and gear--bolted towards the balcony, and went straight for the ground. The height wasn't all that big, at least for him, and he landed with a roll on his shoulder area to reduce the overall damage that his body suffered; for a normal human it would risk a few broken limbs, but all he risked was a slight stinging feeling. Just as he landed on the ground and brought himself to his feet, he witnessed something that he once thought he would never witness: the destruction of the Magic Council's Headquarters and the Rune Knight's hub of operations. Its destruction was wrought about by an enormous citadel of horror, rising up from the ground and destroying anything that it came into contact with. The remains of the Magic Council and Rune Knights buildings were seen only as fragments in comparison to the fortress that arose from the ground; with his red eyes wide, Deniel experienced many emotions in that instant: Shock, horror, surprise, and above all else... excitement. Not for a single moment did the Nepahelm fear, for he experienced many horrors and traumas. Stirring him was quite the feat.

He closed his eyes upon the citadel, just before its damage could affect him, though that would come very soon. Recognizing the threat and the immense power it must have taken to awaken this kind of place, it meant that whatever foe was in his way deserved the best of his arsenal. With his eyes sealed shut, a pair of jet black feathered wings emerged from Deniel's back flawlessly, without any sounds of flesh tearing, or any kind of painful effects. The wings spread themselves wide and proudly; when he opened his eyes up once more, their colors were different in each iris. On the right his eye stayed the same red color, but it glowed with a burning passion as red mist emitted itself from his eyes. The left side paralleled this look, except with a blue iris and mist; the mist did not obstruct his vision in any way. Correlating with the eyes, the right and left shoulder sides of his body glowed with the corresponding colors. The pet dragon that was located on his shoulder area had transformed itself into his signature sword, placing itself on his back; ready to be drawn, and in between his wings so it would not interfere with movements.

When the Nephalem had opened his eyes and gaze upon the citadel once more, the damage hit him then, but was heavily reduced with the brand new nature of his body. Though not much of his physical features had changed, his body underwent a transformation unlike any other. What of the Council? His blade communicated with him telepathically; Deniel walked forward, relatively unfazed by everything that had been happening. Naturally he could hear the screams of people around him, and everything seemed to be descending into chaos, but taking the time to go through everything would be a waste. If he wanted to stop this, or at least delay it, then he would have to go for the obvious source of the citadel. If they're dead, there's nothing I can do about it. I swore to protect Fiore, not them. He could see that his gaze was quite limited in the presence of the Citadel, at least to his normal standards; blackness seemed to cover anything that was beyond his field of vision, which was quite high given the augmentation of his senses that he was granted via his Take Over. Though when he started running, ignoring a majority of the monsters that poured fourth, he discovered very quickly that his speed was limited as well. Though he was still capable of a decent amount.

Any monster he came across he merely skipped through, not bothering to waste much time on defeating minions or lackeys. Any of them that tried to attack him wouldn't have itself be attacked back; he avoided them merely by blinking out of harm's way, and continuing on. After a while of running and picking up speed, he descended into the sky with his wings and went straight for the Citadel presumably on his own; and his knowledge of it being able to hurt him by gaze--though it didn't seem to be immediately--kept his eyes away, but he was still able to know its location through various other senses.

This entire game here is essentially the Citadel of Horror spell.

The black smoke swirled away in Eris's place as a new cloud spiraled out from a point in the air nearly three and a half kilometers in the air... at the top of the Citadel of Horror,  towering over the city with a dominating presence,  it's shadow cast over the city and beyond trapping all the men and women below in their own personal hells as most could not see far into the unnatural darkness.   Darkness that hid the horrors that spilled out into the city,  a swarm pouring out from the hill that the headquarters of their security once stood on,  now lifted high into the sky in a ruin atop the Citadel's crown of horns as the whole structure hovered above,  moving faster than one might expect of a thing of its size,  faster than a galloping horse but not fast enough that many threats would be left behind.  Even considering the unnatural presence of the Citadel limiting all movement to the same hard cap.  It was faster than most mortals could achieve on their own,  but it reduced the speed of their attacks all the same,  even light was effected,  just in a more unique specific way designed to isolated individuals.

Many such individuals who were ravaged by the sight of the Citadel of Horror,   defenseless against the horde of undead,  left dead outright or in broken mind-numbed husks screaming as the images burned into their minds,   made only worse by the undead closing in on them.   Those who did not witness the Citadel were panicked by the blackness closing in on them and an inability to see far,   but hearing the monsters on the distance or seeing the monsters as they entered their small spheres of dim vision.    Not all were helpless,  a number of mages could be seen rising to the occasion and using their larger spheres of sight to help in whatever little capacities they could.   Just being a mage though was no judge of character,  many simply fled or were not any better off than the mundane masses.

Eris glided through broken hallways and corridors within the partially crumbled building,  sometimes passing through collapsed hallways and doors unphased as the black cloud of smoke she was moved through any crack unhindered.    There were many survivors in here,  just as there were many dead.   All in all the building held up better than expected,  not that she expected it to completely collapse.   She wanted to have some fun with these councilmen after all.   She was striking hard,  but the purpose itself wasn't outright to kill them all.  It was to strike a blow against this authority over the magical world in this country,  as she had done with Pergrande.   The people of Fiore already had little respect for the Rune Knights and the Magic Council.  And the King?  Many Fiorians didn't even know he existed,  with the vacuum of the Council the King may act,  giving more power to the Crown... for better or worse...  For whom, was yet to be seen.

A large undead spider composed of bones and a giant skull was breaking its way through a wall as Eris passed,  screams coming from the other side as the monster found its way in to prey on a few Knights or simple staff who had survived the upheaval of the building,   other such Spiders were scattered throughout the building,  while a few others leapt down careless of the distance to join the hordes below among the city.   Similarly some Tormented Keepers,  mobile spires that floated through the air made their way down while some came up to search the ruin,   swarms of skulls flying out from the tentacled heads of the Keepers.   Individual skulls a little larger than the others but decorated with rams horns seemed to deviate from the swarms to fly directly after prey.

Eris chose a deliberate route through the ruins,  as she passed blue flames ignited out from the cores of the victims as their souls and flesh were burned out leaving husks behind that healed the damage Eris had inflicted upon herself in performing the ritual,  and after just a moment of added travel Eris was at her destination.   The council room itself.  It was warded,  protected by magic that flickered across the walls to Eris's fiery vision.   She placed her hand against the surface,  magic flickered and recoiled at her touch,  the colorful ribbons representing the magical enchantments blackened,  withering,  leaving a searing red handprint before it clenched into a fist and she ripped apart the magic,  disenchanting the room that had protected the council members inside against the tumultuous upheaval that had caused havoc elsewhere in the building.

The double doors exploded inward at Eris's whim,  hurtling into the room before Eris in a violent entrance.   One door slammed against one man while the other door was tossed aside in a flicker of magic that sent the door careening into the wall rather than the man's face.  Eris herself was gone,  no longer in the entryway.    The magic unwoven,  Eris appeared out of a crack in the air behind one of the seven present in a silent black cloud of smoke appearing after her own image,  humanoid but black and ethereal with hair floating wildly behind her,  her face an expression of sinister entertainment as she rushed through the man's body,  disappearing within as he wailed in pain his body blackening out from the main points of contact and turning red elsewhere from severe burns,  weakening the strong-willed individual enough by her touch that she possessed the man with seamless ease.

The wail alerted the others to his direction however and they became guarded,  looking about the room for the threat while one rushed to the man's side to help their associate.   When he stepped to her side Eris grabbed the other and pulled him down with her,  in the body of the burned councilman,  behind the table and out of sight of the others,  disappearing through a rift into hell that closed behind them.    The two unwilling captives had no exit,  only the force of will behind the decision to enter a portal of their own accord sustained a way back out of hell.    The blood stained room they found themselves in was littered with bones scattered across the floor and a few complete or partial skeletons chained to fleshy walls that pulsed with movement,  animate and undead in nature.  The floor itself seemed to be made of flesh in places with a hard bone-like carapace covering most the floor.    From one opening in the bone the flesh parted,  showing jagged teeth and a long tentacle-like tongue that licked the bone surface surrounding it,  swiping bits of bone and blood into its maw.

Leaving them to the prison,  Eris floated out from the body of the man she possessed and disappeared in a swirl of smoke collapsing in on one point in the air to vanish out of sight and appear elsewhere,  back in the room with the remaining councilmen.  But she was not alone,   ghostly black creatures sharing Eris's appearance echoed Eris's own laughter as they emerged together into the room circling the outer perimeter before dispersing into a blanket haze throughout the room,  faces and full images appearing in the chaos prodding and poking for openings in defenses and distracting the men,  who's magic lashed out searching for whatever predator it was that thought to prey on them,  one in particular guarding himself with a ward of some nature and sharing the barrier with another at his side at a touch it,  Eris could see the intricate knots woven out of ribbons of magic that spoke to the nature of their defense and marked the presence of the magic.

As a less defensible councilman hurtled a spell into a particularly convincing wraith Eris appeared out from under him,  dragging him to the ground where she pulled him through another Gate that opened on the floor for them,  dragging him kicking and shouting into the prison with the other two,  who were now passed out unconscious due to the fact that the air in here was toxic to the living,  leaving the living drained and weakened but alive.   The magic of the man she just dragged into this prison flickered with magic as he prepared a spell,  but as it left his body it ignited in the air,  combusting and firing out of control in a directionless scattering of the magic he had brought to bare,  but Eris was gone, leaving him to discover the effects of the room on his own.   She had more councilmen to drag into hell,  or kill.

Aware of the strong magical presence making its way towards her Citadel,  which had been among the city earlier,   Eris didn't have too much time to spare on these games.   A number of the Citadel's Horrors were diverted to close in on the mage's approach.   Opening a larger portal Eris swallowed the room whole,  the hole between worlds taking the support out from under the room as Eris carved her way into supporting walls keeping the room up,   causing it to strain more and more until it tore away, floor collapsing into the hellish realm below,  spilling them all at once into the dungeons below as the portal closed,  leaving a broken room with no floor.

Before the approaching mage could get too close or attempt to damage her Citadel,  Eris broke her deception,  her own supernatural aura rushing out in full force like a beacon in order to divert attention.  The Citadel was far from fragile,  but it was unnecessary to let someone assault it so soon.  And with her presence felt it was a more reasonable guess to assume that the source of this presence was the origin of it all,  as she was.    There would be no point in confronting him here,  where he could simply damage both her and her Citadel.   Rather,   she appeared further away,   stepping out through a rift in the air on the opposite side of the city.  He wouldn't be able to see her,  but her presence was glaring,  radiating a sense of terror and the primordial divinity of an ancient evil.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
One thing that crossed his mind on his way over there is who could create such a monstrosity. He had encountered beasts, monsters, and nightmares alike all in his quest to gain power and seek a worthy opponent. All of them had their own unique terrors, but this was unlike any other. Nothing that could overwhelm him, at least for the time being, but it gave him a sense that he had not felt in such a long time. Not since.... him. His blood was rushing through his fake pulse. He could feel the butterflies in his stomach surge throughout his entire body, and his mind seemed to be clouded in some kind of darkness along with his vision. His body was already subjected to suspected vulnerabilities... but above all: he felt truly alive. Many people fear that feeling, but it is the feeling that Deniel lives and craves for: The thrill of battle. His thoughts had been so distracted that he had not noticed for a moment the horrific creatures enclosing in on his position.

He halted his flight, and on the bottom of his feet, two small platforms were created to sustain him standing upright--as if on the ground--within the air. Still cautious to keep his eyes diverted away from the citadel itself, he found himself surrounded... and sealed his eyes shut. Lost in his brief moments of thoughts, time itself seemed to freeze around him. This is unlike anything I've ever faced or seen... but I will not falter. I will not fear. I will not give in. And I will survive! From around his shoulders, black mist manifested itself into his signature black katana, sheathed at its scabbard on his back. He reached behind him with his eyes still sealed shut, having trained to fight blindly without his sight, and rely on his numerous other senses. His hand gripped the hilt of the black blade, and drew it from its scabbard as time started to resume normally back around him, escaping his thoughts and bringing himself back to reality. "Begone!"

When the inevitable attack came for him, the Nephalem dodged it by a hair with his body decomposing itself into Chaos Energy, and then teleporting a little less than fifteen meters away from them, so they were all within his line of sight. At this point he drew his blade, and swung the black katana in a horizontal motion, creating enough force with both his strength and a spell he coursed into his blade to have it cut the flesh and bone from all of the creatures that surrounded him from where he was standing. Not only had the circle of monsters around him been affected, but every creature that was a hundred and eighty degrees in front of his position had felt the wrath of his blade from where he had been standing. Whether they were near or far, all of them suffered the same fate. His initial cut was devastating, but combined with the power he infused with his blade even more so, and all of the targets that he managed to hit and cut right in half on a horizontal axis fueled his body, strength, and Magic.

He still had not opened his eyes after finishing his cut, but its primary goal wasn't to eliminate many of the monsters pouring from the Citadel. That would just waste his time and energy. The single attack he did on them, however, would give him an enormous advantage in a coming battle ahead. Evident on his body was a surge in power, as he emitted a mysterious purple glow, and every few seconds a small bit of purple lightning flashed near his body. Following his attack, he finally sensed something that he had been searching for: the source of all of this. Unveiling themselves perhaps out of necessity to distract him from the Citadel... or because they needed to keep their aura hidden. Either way, there was no mistake that the aura he felt was from the culprit of all of this. It felt both powerful, and it resonated evil, and it was unnecessary for someone to emit that much of their aura unless they wanted to be found. The terror it sent through him was unlike any other, just like the Citadel... they seemed to be one in the same. And like both of them, they sent through his body the sense of his beloved thrill, masking fear.

If this monster wanted him to find them... then so be it. Though perhaps it would be faster than they anticipated. The Nephalem sheathed his blade right back where it belonged in the scabbard, and took a few steps forward. With his eyes still sealed tight, he entered his top speed for just a moment, seemingly vanishing from where he was just a moment ago. He came to the other side of the city, but he did not get too close to the designated aura. He created some distance between the two of them.... and opened his eyes. A little bit to his surprise, he found that the source of all of this was a woman... though unsurprisingly she gave off a kind of... deathly feeling even without her aura. The aura itself was meant to induce fear, to which he viewed as a challenge. Reaching behind his back to his blade's hilt once more, he drew it swiftly, but made no offensive move against her quite yet. "What's up?"

Farewell, Knights. Open. (Kill Enabled) Tumblr_o208qwjAG61ugsx1xo1_500

Skulls that poured out from the tentacle crowned abomination hovered towards the mage in an eerie mass as they approached,  at least sixty individual swarms arcing out through the air in long formations headed by single larger horned skulls,  clacking together softly as they bumped into one another as they went.   Unearthly sounds emanating from each of the skulls and the single large arachnid that hovered between them all,  it's legs moving in a hypnotic rhythm as it drew closer,  the already dim light flickering as they came into view out from the pitch black limits imposed by the Citadel.

They closed in on the mage who stood waiting in the air for them,   and continued to rush past him when he teleported out of the way,   like the mindless chaos they were they continued to fly without adjusting their course and continued bobbing together before slowly starting to arc around,  hooking around in opposite directions.   The three horned skulls were more persistent and started turning back after only a short distance,  or at least they would if given the chance,   the skulls still rushing past like a river of despair rushing past.     The large spider,  the size of a large shed,  was not phased and directed itself immediately back on track,  legs splayed open as though waiting to wrap itself around the man.

The skyward slash that followed carved its way into the streams,  a visible wave of splitting skulls that were caught in its path in two as the wave made its way through the two of the three lines of undead,  and cleaving the giant bone spider in half as its outstretched legs reached for him,  instead falling towards the ground in two halves along with a rain of halved skulls,   one of the horned skulls caught by the slash.    Four smaller spider hatchlings the size of normal human skulls could be seen crawling their way out of the corpse of the larger form,   legs splayed out as they fell.  They seemed to be adjusting their descent as they went,   each slamming into the head of a bystander below, legs wrapping around their faces.

Around twenty creatures were felled all at once,  leaving the rest of the masses to swoop back towards the man's position only to scatter in different directions after they were met with empty sky as he left them behind to appear before Eris,  her form wafting with black smoke that crackled with embers and ash that trailed along with every little movement,  her hair floating lightly with ethereal grace.   The smoke was thin and emanated from her white skin like steam as she hovered with ease in the sky in waiting,  a black cape with a red interior billowed behind her.   Black leather heels going up to her thighs were attached to the thin black thong she wore,  her chest covered with a a band around her ribs with two folds coming up to give some modesty to her bust,  a failed effort given how form fitting everything was and the amount of skin on display.    It was clear that she was not yet serious about any confrontation,  and the aura she released was a simple release of the block she traditionally kept in place,  without any effort driving it.   She could spike her aura if she wished but she did not feel the need to.    When the man appeared for her,  Eris's aura gradually faded away as though turning down a dial.

With it disappeared any sense of malice or sensation of negativity,  a flat silence as though nothing was there to the senses,  even the traditional senses were missing.   Where one would expect to smell the scent of a women or smoke and ash was only open sky as though she did not exist to all but sight.  It was in and of itself a disturbing impression.

Whether or not the man knew Eris was uncertain,  but she knew him.   He may have even felt a hint of her power several weeks prior,  at the hall of the masters.  An assembly of guild leadership in Fiore where thousands joined to spectate the event and see their heroes,  and a site where thousands died in unison at her hands.   By now lacrima footage watching the event would have spread and the image of a snow white woman would be tied to the disaster,  and the red handprint of Eris and Grim Heresy.    Further news of Eris's misdeeds could be seen in foreign papers and crisis reports as a white woman gained infamy as a harbinger of death and chaos that followed in her appearances, sudden attacks that occurred without forewarning or known provocation.

And the man before her was of similar standing,  A God of Ishval they say.   Deniel Decayuss,  the first of the Saints.  She could see the magic working within him,  seals of power woven into intricate designs that spoke of their intent.   Unseen to most but plain to Eris's eyes.   It was a tumultuous unison of powers,   Eris could feel and see the blending of contrasting aspects of divinity that manifest in and out in a form of takeover and blade magic,  if one couldn't guess as much by the takeover form he dawned and the blade he drew against her.  Followed by a casual greeting causing Eris to tilt her head in amusement,  causing a trail of smoke to exaggerate the motion,  a spark of heat flickering in her eyes.

Despite the distance Deniel had placed between them there was no difficulty in hearing his comment.   "It's been a slow day.  Just the the genocide of a gnome society and the abduction of some councilmen.  You?"  When she spoke her words seemed to come from all directions around him clearly despite the softness of her voice,  a slight echo ringing along with her words.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
One particular thing he noticed from this woman was that she was different from many others he met. Whenever faced with an opponent as dangerous as her, he would oftentimes study them so that he could catch a few senses to remember them. Not just by the way they look, but of course with his ability to garner and memorize magic sensory. There was one thing that had been missing from her, which he found very peculiar... smell. It was one of the most powerful senses he used to track people and things, for masking ones smell had been one of the trickiest forms of deception one could pull off. Hers was not masked, though. It was almost as if it didn't exist. Something had struck him very familiar about her aura, on the other hand. Though it had been wiped from existence, he knew that the one he felt earlier was familiar... and he sensed it before. Or felt it. Then he came to the sudden realization that there was something very similar to the one at the Guild Master's meeting. That turned it from a peaceful talk into a bloodbath. Whether or not it was actually her wasn't his primary concern, but he did keep it under his suspicions.

He found it a little unusual that she was just as casual as he was; anyone else would have given him a threat by that time... but it just made it all the more fun for him. From just her voice alone he would have been able to tell she was powerful, aside from all the destruction and mayhem she caused so far. Though from what she said, she did give away what had been done to the Council. Not killed... but abducted? He hadn't the slightest clue how many were abducted, but his primary concern wasn't the Council as of now. "Not having as much fun as you, I guess." And now he took a stance for battle. His right foot went towards the back, and his left one forward. Both hands were on the hilt of his katana blade, and he held it paralleled to his gaze with his knees slightly bent. "Let's just see if you can change that." From out of his back came two spirits, one red, and the other one blue. Each of them corresponded with his eye colors, with the red on the right, and the blue on the left. The spirits only showed the bodies from the shoulders up, but they were a little bit enlarged to compensate. The red one was a middle aged man, though not much could be told through his features give that his figure was transparent, and it was completely red. And on the left, the blue one was a young woman. What was notable about each of the spirits was their expression and posture was the exact same as Deniel's, and from then on... every move and attack he made physically would be backed up by them. His mind briefly switched two of the involuntary reflexes at a moment's notice, and gave off his first attack. This one wasn't meant to be something enormous or flashy, but just something to test the skill of his foe standing before him. Without his legs so much as budging an inch, Deniel dashed forward once about ten meters, before zig-zagging his way swiftly to her.

Just as he came into range for his next ability, he swiftly performed a blink spell, teleporting his body directly behind her, but also just a little bit above her position for a height advantage. Once behind her, he gave his blade a very powerful swing, though one that was backed up by his strength, and his strength alone. The swing of his blade had also brought out a small concentration of excess Magic Power with it, and created two small blades at his shoulders that launched themselves at her following the attack. Anticipating that he was going to re position herself, he kept his eyes open in all directions around him to have the blades launch in her direction should she move. This had no real intent behind it other than to initiate the battle that was to come.

Seeing one's desires often meant seeing weakness and exposing vulnerability to exploit, dragging them down in temptation.   Eris didn't often have to fight and could display other methods of dealing with situations just as this one,  recalling the image of the blue haired mage who stood before her at the seat of Pergrande's power as this swordsman did before her now in Fiore.   Things were different when you were on your own land to fight for in it's own right,  but the man before her desired only the thrill of a battle,  evident in how the swordsman actively searched for a larger foe in the midst of the lives being lost in the city below.   Each life that fell stirred anew to rise against their neighbors,  adding to the scale of the undead assault as each loss for the living gave to the dead.  Things were looking grim for the city even if the swordsman did eventually manage to drive her off,  damage was already done and ongoing.

Matching expectation the man engaged after the short banter,  he may as well have walked up toward her for all the good his dashing did.   Eris remained immobile as she traced his movement,  an echo of flame preceding him like an afterimage that appeared before the movement actually took place by but a moment.   A moment long enough for Eris to fully witness,  "Echo" or not Eris was in her prime,  empowered by all the death below.   Every new life that was taken to join the undead masses added that little bit of extra edge,  stacking with the loss of so many living lives.  Eris's mind was expansive,  her thought processes taking in all the information it could and churning out predictions and interpretation the likes of which the supercomputers of Bosco could envy,  and though it may not be obvious to the people of Earthland Eris was herself once an accomplished swordswoman known for her signature blade that had since been stolen from her by a damned angel.

As such it would take a lot to overwhelm her,  what Eris currently lacked in raw offensive magic such as the swordsman had she made up for in defense and foresight.  As he closed the gap between them after his patterned dashes Eris made a move of her own,  surging forward as a cloud of smoke only for an instant as the flame flickered behind her,  something she was ready for.   The smoke continued forward in a billowing motion as Eris herself disappeared within the smoke cloud which continued to flow forward past her as Eris capitalized on her lack of presence or senses to appear behind the swordsman's own attempt to get behind her,  her echo of smoke still flowing forward in front of him as Eris lashed out with two hands palms wide as inky black smoke flared at her hands and into spheres before her palms as she, if she, made contact with the man's back as though attempting to shove him,  causing the spheres that appeared momentarily to burst as her hands made contact which would leave a searing red handprint burning through clothing or armor if it is not able to resist the damage to mark the flesh,  or leaving a red hand print on armor itself if it resist the intense concentration of focused heat as though suddenly exposed to all the fires of hell's own raging volcanos who's heat was until now not felt.

The moment she makes contact or the man moves more than a few inches out of place beyond movement expected of someone in the middle of making an attack in another direction,   Eris swirls like a thin stream of smoke along whichever side of the man is opposite to the way he appears to be turning in that moment,   if none then diving below his feet and shrinking,  dispersing as though going invisible,    meanwhile smoke trails in whichever opposite direction that Eris herself goes,  covering her movement by projecting smoke in a way similar to her own actions and way of moving.   Her deceptive style aiming to trick,  feint,  and mislead her opponent looking for opportunities and openings to make her mark with sudden intensity,  emulating Eris's behavior as a whole,  a few short seconds emulating the pattern of Eris's time in Earthland.

Knowledge.  One of the most important tools of any who claim to possess power or authority over any little fraction of reality from the small domains of kings to the worlds of gods.  Knowledge won or lost any war or battle to a similar extent as having raw power to destroy.

Eris, in this instance,  had no knowledge of what would have happened.  She had no reason to expect anything to happen,  when she laid her Mark upon the nephalem,  the blazing hand that corrupted the purest of relics and subjugated kings.  The similarities between them both were not lost on her,  but there was no reason to expect anything different would occur at Eris's touch.
As she made contact and her power reached inside him it was like releasing a dark star that bent the light of the world in on itself as their worlds collapsed in on themselves.   For all either of their powers,  they were helpless in this single moment.

Faster than most eyes could catch,  Eris's core form was forced out in a flicker,  her white body becoming black and accented with reds almost as though she were a sillohette,  One curved horn of a demon protruded from her head,  a much smaller horn paired with it but it was only a small thing that one would imagine only just started growing,  but it was frozen in place.   Above,  a red halo of light glowed,  jagged and broken,  unstable.    Where two feathered wings would be were two deep black abyssal stains in the air like echos of what once was but had been blasted away in flames.
    .

Farewell, Knights. Open. (Kill Enabled) RfwgnFd

The moment was fleeting,  as soon as it appeared the two slammed into one another by a force within each of them that drew them together far too literally generating intense energy that overpowered even the darkness that had enshrouded the city,  darkness that resisted,  swirling around them and struggling against the light as though they were two solid entities locked in a chaotic dance that no one could witness,  as time came to a standstill in the city below.

In the middle of that dance,  was a core of energy like a cocoon for the two half-divine half-infernal beings who's existences in their entirety were now one,  Eris's own power was in them man's hands at first,  and in an instant the power of the Blazing Hand was his.
The moment she made contact with him she had attempted to force a Pact on him,  it was a futile effort on her part.   She knew full well that someone such as him would normally have resisted it without issue.  It would have just slowed him down,  even if slightly,  and pulled at his mind to obey however faint the suggestion.   But the Pact took hold,  and the power of wishes was his in this moment.
Eris could see his thoughts and intentions,  he had just as much access to her own mind as she had to his,  they were one in the same now,  but while Eris was taken back and stunned by the recoil of her failed pact Deniel was not.   Knowledge of what the pact did was his,  and its power, his.   The darkness enveloping them was invigorated with new effort pushing back against the light while Eris exerted her will,  the ball of power flashing as it streaked across the city in an instant to strike the Citadel of Horror,  light and darkness splashing at the impact before being collected and absorbed into the abomination.
Cracking bones and the wailing of legions of undead souls filled the air while the Citadel ruptured,  splitting apart in moments by the growth of a great spine and the formation of ribs,  limbs,  tail, and legs.   The Citadel transformed as Eris willed herself to anchor to it,  reshaping into a titanic visage of divinity.  Where it once hovered was now a titan towering into what little dark clouds remained in the sky with three heads,  one horned,  one crowned,  and one baring a halo.  At its back were six wings of feather, bone, and leather.   Six arms reached to her sides with fists clenched and wings flaring as three heads,  with seven skulls that floated in a vertical ring,  roared in resistance to the power that was drawing from them,  against the will of the man who seized the power of her Pact,  sending a tremor through the earth and rippling the sky.  Fissures formed throughout the city,  streets in two in all directions from her, in the center of it all,  towering above the ants below.  The largest of buildings not rising above her feet.

Light and darkness radiated off from the amalgamation,  pulsing as the influences struggled inside but the Pact was already in the hands of Deniel.  Light burst off from the titan's chest like the the flare of a sun as the Pact washed over the city,  Eris's power turned against her,  banishing all evil the light touched,  her summons,  her minions,  her gates to hell.    Most insulting of it all was the damage that it repaired,  walls erecting themselves with fallen bricks,  the soulless, the broken,  and the dead lives lost becoming whole again sleeping in the streets.
As the light hit the furthest reaches of the city it rebounded,  the flood turning itself back towards the titan,  rushing inwards to slam into her,  making her tremble and stagger several steps away like something was pulling at her,   and the titan collapsed into the side of a mountain.   Scales, flesh, and bone all hardening,  fossilizing,  becoming as stone.

Deniel was gaining an upper hand as the souls of two stood beside him in the spiritual chaos surrounding the core.  A spark of light and a spark of fire,  angel and demon,  supporting their son against her here in the heart of the star-like cocoon,  draining Eris of her own essence.  Two halves that wanted to be whole trying to fuse together,  only one of them would come out on top and complete the transformation.    The plain white mindspace they found themselves in was devoid of all but a horizon,  a flat white plain stretched on to an infinite horizon marked by a distant light,  it was here that Deniel's form glowed strong and vibrant with the two standing at his sides,  hands on his shoulders.
It was not to be,   Eris had no family to support her here,  cut off from the bulk of her essence and rendered down to her purest self as was the man before her with his kin,  but she had more.  Shadows loomed on the horizon that stretched high,  each adorned by horns that scraped the sky,  one,   six,   thirteen,   more shadows appeared,  each unique and radiating power beyond even the both of Deniel and Eris alone.  A fire burned in the center of the semi-transparent Eris that grew,  filling her,  and she stood.   A burning hand reached for Deniel,  penetrating through his chest to grasp at his core,  and pulled,  deconstructing his essence as it poured into Eris,  filling her,  making her look more real and tangible.   The man and woman at his sides cried out in resistance,  pulling back on Deniel trying to distance him away from the agony she was inflicting.
There was one last flare,  of Deniel's own power,  Eris's stolen power,  and the will of the parents at his side.   Deniel's spirit split,  his central identity itself was torn free,  the self-aware intelligence that could live on,  dragged away at the hands of the two intruders.

Outside the mindspace, the star ruptured,  light spilling from it once again as the partial soul was torn free with a jet of radiance that flooded,  but as Deniel moved on,  the two were weighed down,  the veil would not part for them,  as flesh and blood formed around their spirits.   They became real again,  alive,  while their son moved on.   Below them was the city,  still frozen in time but whole again,  and behind them was the chaotic star spinning with light and darkness.   They had time to get away from the scene,  find life where they will,  to live now as Deniel desired them to until their time ran up again and they could be together again.

Free of resistance,  Eris's essence collected itself with the rest of Deniel's,  though she had no choice.  Even without the resistance of Deniel's consciousness fighting for control,  the pull was still there fusing her into something new.     As the light of the star above the city faded,  the cocoon unfolding,  Eris's body smoothly slipped back into existence.    White skin was gone,  her flesh was true,  pinkish, looking alive,  a red tail behind her capped with a heart-shaped spear tip.   Her hair,  a vibrant red matching her tail and     At her back were two feathered white wings,  two smaller red leather wings were lower on her back.    On her head were two full completed sets of horns that curled nobly,   with a whole unbroken halo that burned with holy golden flames.

Eris remained in the air above,  all darkness gone from the city as the sun shown overhead,  making her shimmer with light that sparkled on her silhouette that was seen from below,  backed by the sun she cast a shadow below,   the humans rising to their feet waking up healed to see the apparent angel above.     She had more memories going through her head,  her mind was expanded.   Experiences that were not hers,  or where they now?   She could feel a poisoning to her own identity,  corrupted by Deniel's own.  She was not the same as she was before,  but she was still what she was,  and she still had things she had to do in Earthland,  whether she now liked it or not.

Turning away from the city,  its people spared this day,   Eris,  the transcendent nephalem,  disappeared through a crack in the sky.
