There were many a mystery to unravel and unearth under the promise of adventure, and there wasn't such a thing as a journey too grand or too insignificant to a man who's greater ambitions lay in the matters of wondering aimlessly among the crowds, seamlessly navigating the roads that traversed the neighboring cities like nobody's business. It had been more of a habit for him of sorts, unable to truly manage the urge to walk, as if something compelled him to keep moving despite being bound to responsibilities. The circumstances have changed, evidently, and though it was unspeakable for him to put off the duty of finding his way back home, his inner being was calm and quiet, as if the storm was only in his head, having passed even before it started. Hence, he found himself situated under the bright and blinding lights of Rose Garden, watching the night blur into an ungodly mix of vice and beauty, lies and art.

The road beneath him was no less dusty and worn, but it was extravagantly familiar, still. One of his very first excursions led him there, a black suit lining his form as he attended a wedding with his sword strapped unto his shoulders and a lady by his side. The battles that followed were unexpected, though they remained victorious to the end, regardless of the injuries they had to brace just for the bride's sake. He'd harbor a smile as he dug into the memory, recalling the woman's name and wondering, briefly, if she ever continued her venture as a wizard, much like him, who found a strength in the various faces he's come to associate himself with.

His mulling came to an abrupt stop, however, as his patience was called over by a man in a red coat, his wide smile inviting and his ever-green eyes teetering deep into the voids of his soul. He raised a brow as the shady figure approached his form, a low foreboding feeling worming into his gut as his blade rattled a little in its sheathe, the energies restless with the prospect of danger drawing near with each step the man took.

"Lovely evening ain't it, lad?" he'd say, movements waning in and out of deception and fabrication. "You come here often?"

The swordsman would only gaze, his thumb glossing over the webbing that threaded over his blade's handle. "I don't think so, I've only ever come here once." he replied with a tight grin, mimicking the tone of an unknowing traveler. "Why'd you ask?"

There had been a hint of amusement spinning listlessly in the man's eyes, undermining and full of respite as he ushered an arm over Terith's shoulders, beckoning him to move with an urgent push. "Well I've got just the thing for weary wanderers like you, to promptly give you a taste of what's it like to be Rose Garden. A nice drink at one of the finest bars out there, and it's on me, don't worry about the pay!"

His weapon pulsed in his grip as he was lead astray into a narrowing corner of the main road,  the lights buzzing even further into the color spectrum as their neon shades made his eyes sting. He was not sure what playing the fool would garner him in a situation like this, but resulting to rash decisions were uncalled for, and he wasn't eager to make a scene.

Perhaps Terith would call it an experiment over anything else for that matter, fiddling about with what he could muddle himself into, and allowing him the obligation to enjoy the given outcome, or put an end to an atrocity that he might have uncovered unknowingly. Either way, the swordsman would eventually sit on a bar stool of a rather unfamiliar establishment, bottles of expensive looking labels lining the walls as the uncanny shine of the red lampshades blur into a lazy discotheque glamour. The customers were flooding in from the main entrance with their bills in hand, though they didn't seem very well off to begin with, adorning nothing more but simpleton's garment with messy hair and dirty faces, their expressions grimy and wearing thin. Paupers, indefinitely. Addicts? Something unheard of.

The setting was believable, but their audience was something questionable. Though he didn't bother asking as he feigned a chiseled smile into his jaw, the coat-sporting individual already handing him a glass with ice cubes melting into it. "I bet ya haven't come to this place, yet, ey? It's nice and cheap, and they've got the best alcohol in the city." his hands gestured over towards the lady who worked with the drinks, and while her expression was indifferent, her willingness to grant the man his order over the others who laid in wait betrayed her cold stare.

A faint tinkling sound funded itself into the atmosphere as the bartender handled a bottle with gloved hands, the contests sloshing lazily against the glass. It was a palpable shade of velvet, he noted, watching careful fingers pour it diligently into his cup. A staggering burst of energy weaved through his weapon again, making the sheath clang about noisily in its wake. Terith would still it with his hand a bit, already acknowledging the fact that there was potential threat hiding in all of this, yet unable to draw out his sword to ask the spirits what the man's intention was.

'Damn it. Gotta down it, then, no other choice.' he thought, his fingers lightly tapping against the rim of the glass.

So this was it? This is what she had heard so much about? A human settlement much larger then the one's she had seen before. The sounds, sights, and smells were all astonishing to Narumi. The Kitsune stood silently in a massive street near the edge of the town, her golden eyes wide with amazement. All the people going about their daily lives as if this place didn't amaze them as well? Were they crazy? All the colours, structures and even the people were quite a unique sight for Narumi. She wore a hood over her head, her long fox ears tucked underneath it. ALthough her long black tail still stuck out from her flank, but there wasn't anything she could do to hide it. Which made her worry somewhat. Based on the information she obtained in a small village just a day south of this city, she was told that not a lot of people like here were around, so it'd be best to try and blend in. However she still got a few stolen glances from passerbys, either questioning or admiring her tail, but never saying a word. At this, the Kitsune simply lowered her hood and began walking down the street.

Her hands in the pocket of her sweater, she tried to witness as much as she could. This entire experience was completely new to her. Much different from the island life she was used to living... How long had it been anyways? A few weeks? She tried to forget, but the memories just came back to haunt her. Only a few weeks prior, she had found herself waking up on an empty beach. In a completely different form. A completely different world. Now only one thing seemed clear to her. She'd need to find a purpose, and learn to live among the people of this place. What better place to start learning than a city? Narumi was convince if she could learn anything from these people, it'd be here.

Her black boots clicked against the cobblestone as she she tried to narrowly avoid a carriage, giving a nervous smile at the passengers who returned with not so friendly expressions. It soon became clear to her that the middle of the road wasn't the place you were supposed to walk, so she quickly slid her way to the edge. She stared at the carriage filled street for only a moment, before the greasy grip of a fat hand was felt on her shoulder. "Huh?" She started looking over to her left with her golden hued gaze, to see a much, taller, and fatter man smiling down at her through yellow teeth. "You ain't from Rose Garden are ya little vixen?" He said in a deep voice, his breath assaulting Narumi's heightened sense of smell. She flinched ever so slightly at this, and proceeded to speak. "Er... Heh, no I'm not..." She said nervously, closely eyeing the man's hand. "Hah, that's what I thought... I would've recognized that cute face if ye were... Me and my pals would love to show you around if you'd like..." He told her, gesturing to a dark ally, where three other men were hanging out, smiling at Narumi. Suddenly, any sense of danger was washed away, and her face lit up. This was the perfect opportunity to learn more about this place! "Really? Please do! I'm not familiar with this city at all." She exclaimed through a bright smile. "Heh, alright then. Me and my friends will take you to a nice little joint at the end of the street. They have fine drinks." The man told her.

A few minutes later, they opened the door to a rather fancy looking joint. The smells from outside quickly changed as the Kitusne silently entered. She took an advanced look at everything about this place. The people seemed to be enjoying themselves, as many were situated at the bar, smiling and drinking away. Is this what humans usually did? They took pleasure in drinking augmented liquid? Was there even more then water that was drinkable? Her tail hung low, near the floor. It was completely obsured by the dim light, so many wouldn't even notice there unless someone had stepped on it... Which would quickly turn ugly for whoever was unfortunate to do so... She was so captured by the appearance of the bar, she didn't notice one of the men had silently shut the door, and locked it. She finally sat down, on as tool next to a rather unusual looking man. Something she wouldn't even pick up on if he hadn't made that noise. She turned her her golden gaze to him, and confirmed that it was the object on his back which made that noise. She stared at it carefully, very curious as for its purpose when suddenly her thoughts were interrupted by the cold slam of a large glass in front of her. Narumi gazed at it with a confused expression, looking at the cup and then at the man who placed it in front of her. She honestly had no idea what his intent was. "Wait... You want me to drink this...?" She questioned. The man simply snorted with atone of annoyance and moved onto his next customer. Narumi looked at it again, and then picked it up, careful not to spill it. She gazed inside to see the velvet liquid within. She gave a quick sniff, and then her senses went berserk. Her eyes quickly widened as she put the glass back on the counter. SOmething unusual was obviously placed inside, unless her fox-like sense of smell betrayed her...

Drinks On Me, Jokes On You Empty Re: Drinks On Me, Jokes On You

Post by Terith 4th August 2016, 7:14 am

Though he had not been gifted with any inhumane sense, Terith liked to think he was better versed in assessing a drastic situation without much hesitation on his part to act out the much needed role of catalyst. Sometimes the deal came with little dignity, coupled with a copious amount of shame and the possibility of gaining many a opposition in response to his fooling around, but otherwise, the rewards that he'd reap were regularly revealed to him as redeeming, and that was a whole lot of Rs to prove his point, silly as it was, he was only getting into the right mood by kick starting it off with an amusing anagram-ic thought.

And just as he was about to take a head dive into the dangerous luxury that the suited one treated him to, a strange feminine figure revealed herself from the shadows, prompting an action that had her seated beside the swordsman in a stillness that he could not decipher, a glass of the same velvet concoction gingerly settling on the tabletop in front of her, courtesy of another bartender with a brazen stare. He'd mule over the idea of whether or not the person was lured into the fray by a sketchy form, wavering in the alley ways as they beckoned the ignorant, and surely enough, he nearly pitied her, had he not realized that he was in the same state, though albeit willingly and with purpose.

Before long, he came to feel the prickly intent that spiked from his host on his other side, his chin propped up on an arm as he smothered the young blonde with an expectant look. It had been fair enough to urge him on, but the stares were stalker-quality and Terith would only make a mental note to get done with everything before it continued into something desperately out of control.

His first due step was, of course, to better understand the liquid that they posed as an alcoholic beverage and instill a judgement of whether or not it was befitting of a threat as it originally proposed. With a dry throat and side-wards glance, the swordsman would bring the glass up to his lips, taking a brave chug and sloshing it sharply around his mouth. The taste was admirable, but when it had gone down, the seer was definitely stronger, almost as if it burned into his system with the vices of man fueling every drop. It had an alluring charm that, with a few more glasses, would have him out cold and with no sign of waking up for a very long time.

Terith wasn't sure what kind of technique did they use to greatly enhance the process of fermentation, but the beverage was clearly a lot more potent in getting someone drunk over the more common labels. Edging his glare back to the two seated beside him almost had him in a disarray, with one smiling like a giddy fool, and the other coming to absorb the drink's fragrance, a wary reaction coming from her as she did so.

'...Crap.' he thought, somehow coming to a small, definitive conclusion littered with holes that he couldn't care less about right then. Surely then that the other figure had fallen into their tipsy trap as well, and he obviously had no means of getting the point across without resulting to violence.

And so, with no other option given at hand, Terith would become an unusual asshole.

The swordsman latched unto the woman's glass, tipping the contents into his mouth and slightly regretting the decision, though he did his best to recover from the sensation by putting on his best make-shift poker face.

"You didn't want it, right?" he huffed, lowering the empty cup, "And besides, even if you did, I'm sure you couldn't handle it, it's some pretty STRONG stuff."

He didn't know if his emphasis was enough for the girl to get the idea, but by the gods, he hoped she was quick to catch on.

"Huh? Wha..?" Narumi questioned suddenly as the man next to her, who had remained dormant this entire time suddenly reached out a hand and took the glass that had been placed in front of the Yokai. With a few quick chugs, the liquid completely drained from the cup, and he spoke to her again. The entire time, she stared at him with a look of utter curiousity, obviously not angered by his action. Only confused. Her mouth was slightly open, and an ear twitched inside her hood. She said nothing but stared at him the entire time with the same look of awe. Then suddenly a bigger shadow fell over the two. The same man who had lead the girl to the bar leaned an arm on the counter and growled at the man who took her drink.

"Oi! Whaddya think yer doing? That wasn't yer drink boy. We gonna have a problem here ey?" He told him in a angry tone, his fists clenched. The entire time, Narumi said nothing but leaned her head over so she could still witness the other man. She took note of the hostility the bigger fella was showing, and it confused her. Why would he do something like that...? Unless... Of course! A fight was about to break out? Was that it? This dude seemed angry enough to start one. However, Narumi had quickly caught on to the swordsman's saying before. She now realized what was going on... They must've slipped something in her drink, and this swordsman was protecting her from it. Although the true purpose for this was unkown to her.

"You tried to make me drink something that was going to cause a change to my body?" She questioned. At this, the greasy man, turned his head. His angry face quickly turned into an evil grin. "Hehehe... I see we can't get you that way then. The vixen's more clever then we thought. Guess we'll just have to get ye another way." At this he raised a fist, aimed straight towards her. Now it was starting. This is exactly what Narumi wanted to achieve. A good ol fashioned brawl! Nothing made her more happy then to show off some of her skills to the humans. And her cause was just this time. Simply self defense... Her eyes began to glow a faint color of cyan, form their usual yellow. As soon as his fist came down, POP! She was gone. Her stool laid empty, and the man was confused. Another moment later a blue flash appereared in an opening on the floor. And she stood there with her hands in the pockets of her sweater. Her tail swaying slightly as a sly grin masked her expression. His friends growled behind her, as they readied their fists.

Drinks On Me, Jokes On You Empty Re: Drinks On Me, Jokes On You

Post by Terith 20th August 2016, 6:24 am

The swordsman would blink his cloudy eyes as he tried to manage his surroundings and the events that came to pass, having been thrust into a slightly slower time with the bar lights dimming into a hazy blur of neon. He'd release a low groan as his hand rubbed the sweat that layered over his temple, vividly experiencing what he proposed as the after effect of downing two shots of whatever the hell these lunatics poured into those glasses. He eyed the seats beside him, idly remembering a static figure of a girl sitting there with wide eyes that stared back at his form. When he focused a little more carefully, he realized that she had all but disappeared and there was nothing to behold but empty space. Terith squinted in response, tilting his head to one side as he registered the wrath that laced a large, burly man's words. Without so much as a thought, he adorned a loop-sided grin that betrayed his racing thoughts of hesitance.

He was about to make a snarky comeback, sure, but his current thread of reality was akin to having two seconds worth of lag in a big game where his response time was that of a snail and his actions barely mattered when his object of focus was already way ahead of him. He furrowed his brows with a clear sign of frustration matting his growl, willing his legs to stand despite having his hands shakily grab hold of the bar table for leverage once he noticed. He briefly regarded the feminine figure with interest as her form revealed a pair of animal ears and a matching tail to boot, idly following the motion it did as the girl offered the men a grin that seemed to hold no form of regret or restriction. He'd seen these kinds of things once or twice in his life time back in the day when he'd visit the more cheaper bars, his friends lining up as finals week came to a close. He was never well-versed in striking up the cause, but he certainly had a fair share of numb limbs when he was inadvertently caught up in it. As much as he wanted to result to pacifism every now and then, the prospect of it was highly unlikely at that point, succumbing to some oddly pent up feelings that made him want to earnestly ram someone down into a blue mess. Any reason why was quickly washed out by the click of his weapon, the silver of it's blade slightly turning a reddish hue under the bar lights.

There was a foreign sense of compliance that ushered him further into the fray, his entrance unannounced as it was clumsily executed. Having brandished his sword was one thing to spark attention, but his figure completely dispersing in flourish of bright blue particles was another. As some men came to focus their willpower on the fox, the rest were scratching their heads as they revered the empty space in confusion.

And while it was good to find seriousness in a battle, Terith was a little less interested in making this a polite fight and somehow found the motivation to play just a bit more dirtily. He later appeared at the far back with his fingers clicking to a sharp snapping sound, coupled with the shattering noises of glass as several spectral versions of his weapon were aimed at any sort of light source inside the bar. Ever slowly, an uncanny darkness would coat the scene, promptly starting an uproar of frenzy amongst the people who gathered there, raising fists and a form of manly panic. The swordsman came to wonder if the girl would have her motions heavily thwarted by the lack of light, but his thoughts were yielded as a pain slithered up his spine and ended up bubbling at the entrance of his mouth. When he brought himself to his knees, Terith made sure to do away with the last light bulb within the vicinity. As noises erupted in the background, all he could do was hurl, blood leaking between the spaces in his fingers.

"...Khh." he whispered under his breath, recovering his bearings with shaky hands.
