Overall Terrain: The Kingdom of Avalon is a heavily mountainous region where hidden bodies of water are heavily secluded within the several mountain terrains. Although the majority of the Kingdom is mountainous, the climates vary. The most common being tundra, tropical, and forested. The Kingdom is known for it many riches, due to gold and other fortunes commonly found within mountains and the caverns that reside in them, making the country a wealthy and increasingly interesting place to explore.

General Culture & Society: Avalon has a much more Roman based culture, for the majority, and though drastically different climates, how the culture is seen varies depending on which state one enters in.

In Avalon, although the the culture is interpreted different ways, has a general appreciation for festive seasons and an overall humbleness in life’s simplest pleasures. Although the matter is subjective, different classes partake in different festivities at different times of the year. Though classes being Low Class, Middle Class, and High Class. Finances, bloodline, skill and accomplishments usually determine one’s class, and though Avalon is generally a wealthy country, ‘poverty’ does exist in smaller, unsupervised towns where law enforcement is much more lenient and crime rates are at their highest, and generally live amongst the exterior of Avalon.

From lowest to highest, classes are described as following:

Classes:

Imperials:

Imperials are the royals of Avalon, and is a bloodline of individuals who have ruled over the country for generations. A common pattern of imperial behavior is not as scummy as one would think. Most of the previous rulers were humble people who did not boast about their well-off life or wealth, and would give more than take. Of course, most Lower class citizens sees imperials as scumbags who deserve punishments crueler than death, which give some lower and middle classed states and towns the belief of the Imperial State(s) being possessed by demons, seen as gods that slaves and servants would pray to in legends, and can be seen in modern times. This will be explained later on. Imperials are the overall rulers and authorities of both High, Middle, and Low class statuses.

High Class:

High Classed citizens are usually those who live closest to the Imperial grounds and have made a fortune through investing into mountain mines and discovering valuable items and minerals, their history in military or accomplishments through battle, or inheriting the wealth or reputation of previous generations. Of course, many have worked their way up from Low Class to High Class to pure dedication and investment into (most commonly) mining and signing off into the military, while most married into or were born into their classes. Because of this, High Class citizens that live closest to the imperials are seen as arrogant and wrongfully well-off, and are generally frowned upon. Some are proven to be humble and appreciated while others confident in their wealth and abusing their financial authority, which gives the High Class citizens controversy amongst Middle Class and Below.

Middle Class:

Middle Classed citizens are most frequently scattered throughout Avalon and has finances that are not quite high enough to be deemed High Class but not even close to being low enough to be apart of Low Class. These citizens generally live comfortable lives in whichever town or state they please, and have jobs and responsibilities so diverse, not all can be listed. Some may live quiet, humble lives and live off in the tropical mountains and open up a shop. Others may dedicate their lives to investing into military, while others find the time to explore and adventure, fighting dangerous beasts and finding fun in having no general responsibilities. The second largest amount of Avalonian Populus fall under Middle Class.

Low Class:

Seen as one of the most brutal, bone breaking and toughest lifestyles, Low Classed citizens are where you’ll find the largest amount of Avalonian citizens, most of them slaves, servants, farmers, gatherers, and other smaller occupation that build up the country’s resources. It is said that Low Classed citizens never get to see the Imperial States or towns, unless they have been sold off into wealthy families to serve them. Many Low Classed citizens can be drafted into the military or dangerous areas in order to build wealth for Avalion High and Middle Classed citizens, experience the most police brutality and generally face the most disease. Low Class town and states are seen as infectious, diseased, filthy, and littered with crime and criminals, but law enforcement is so lenient in lower classed areas, that criminals and refugees tend to find sanctuary in these areas. Most lower classed states usually find themselves with some of the most dangerous beasts, such as dragons and other creatures, while these beasts are highly appreciated and sometimes celebrated in higher classed states and towns. Giving a controversial outlook on even the wildlife in Avalon.

Lower classed citizens can make it up to at least Middle Class if they find opportunities, some are born warriors and make a living through military and have earned reputation and wealthy through deadly battles. Others have been so desperate and violent for freedom, that servants that have been slaved off into wealthy families have killed their owners and their successors in order to inherit their wealth and fortunes. Others have bought their freedom, made a reputation and business out of farming or gathering resources, others have slayed deadly beasts and sold their priceless skins and bones. There are many ways to make it out of the low class, but many do not live to see that.

Avalonian Folklore: For several centuries, some of Earthland’s deemed most deadly and evil creatures have been appreciated and celebrated in Avalon. Dragons, Demons, Gods, spirits, and other beasts have festivals dedicated to them. Why? Simply because many owe their wealth and success to them. Magic is commonly used in Avalon, and citizens see these beings as beasts that know magic more than mankind themselves. The dragons, gods, demons, and spirits that roam Avalon can be both humble and disgustingly violent and dangerous, but little hatred is against them in the Middle, High, and Imperial classes; however, one of the highest death rates is in Low Classed states and towns, generally caused by these beasts that prey on them, one of them being lesser dragons. However, the majority of Avalon bares a unique hatred towards Dragon, God, and Demon slayers whose sole purpose is to rid of these creatures that are commonly seen in Avalon. Because of this, Avalon has annual celebrations for the representatives of the three beasts of balance; Nidhogg, The Dragon. Adramelech, The Demon. And Aditi, The Goddess. Some who truly believed that these were the Fathers and Mothers of all magic and lesser Dragons/Gods/Demons/Spirits, would sometimes pray for what they wanted or thank them for their gifts. Some, who much more political and generally see the world logically, see them as simple folklore.

It is said that people who take this folklore on a more religious level have deemed themselves speakers of the gods, demons, or serpents (Priests) and have etched their way into the minds of the people, and can often seen a political segregation, bringing up the question; “Who has more power? The Imperial or The Priest?” Because of the religious versus imperial battles, many have divided into three sides, those who preach the words of the serpents/gods/demons, those who see things more logically and politically, and those who are neutral. The majority fall into neutral, but this is sometimes the leading cause of rebellion and civil war. However, Nidhogg, Adramelech, and Aditi are equally respected and appreciated myths that most can appreciate.

Festivals are more averagely celebrated in a Roman-like setting, traditional foods and settings, even imperials and higher classed citizens would dress traditionally, commonly wearing fashionable and affordable robes and togas, or generally wearing sandals. Many other little stories branch off from this rooting folklore.

Food & Traditional Meals: To be as broad as possible, Avalon is an expensive country where meats are considered ‘gourmet’, many of the meats and other foods are exotic and never-before-seen, yet common to Avalonian citizens. However, Avalon is known for is rich, raw, and perfected wines; though other alcohols such as vodka and beer are also appreciated and common. Interestingly, there are different terms used for times of the day where meals are appropriate, as following: [i]Jentaculum implies the term of ‘Breakfast’, Prandium[i] implies the term lunch, and finally, [i]Cena implies dinner. Of course, many don’t use the exact terms. Meat is not a common part of a meal, but usually consists of everything but meat. Meat and is more commonly seen to those who can afford it or hunt it themselves, but is generally extremely expensive.

Avalonian Customs & Traditions:

Industry: Avalon generally has variations of Roman buildings and setting in more tropical and forested areas. They range from traditional to modern, and find most of their power through magic and lacrima usage. Due to the country’s wealth, it is known for advanced technology hidden behind traditional and simple structures. These structures are commonly large and made of only the finest materials, even some of the poorest families have houses made out of precious stone and flooring made with low quality marble. Most buildings are very large and stand out, some made of clay, stone, marble, or other precious items, taking on a roman industrial appearance. While in tundra climates and environments, cottages are made in contrast to these structures in order to efficiently keep room temperature.

‘Sorcerers’: Like every other country, how Fiore may call them wizards, Avalon calls them Sorcerers.

History: Year 500: The first government is established, called the Avalonian Republic. United provinces join together against hostile sea raiders and forces.
Year 537: The government is torn in to as a Dragon Slayer named Rai Asnee incites a rebellion, causing the Republic to separate into the Federated States of Avalon, and the United Avalon Patriot Front.
Year 583: The two governments after almost 45 years of tense trade and politics, fight the first civil war, when a leader from the FSA tries to re-annex the UAPF. The war goes on for five years with 80,000 civilian casualties and over one-million dead soldiers. During this time Dragon Slayers are hunted by the FSA, and made heros by the UAPF.
Year 585: The FSA is taken over and its government reorganized into the Avalon Empire.
Year 588: The treaty is signed after the UAPF military is cornered in a mountain range. Their leaders, military and civilian, are captures. Rai is executed for insurrection by the Avalon Empire, and most of its military leaders are given a choice for amnesty by betraying the remaining rebels. Three officers are executed before the civilian leaders sign the treaty.
Law Enforcement: The Imperial Guard has two levels: Military and State. State guards are divided into two groups: the common grunt policemen, not known for compassion or gentleness. Brutal and ‘shoot first’ mentality. The other group are the detectives and investigators. You know their job. Usually convicts anyone involved with crime at all.
Military Guards are the more trained and precise troops of Avalon. Four divisions, navy, marines, army, and special operations.

Government: Government is monarchy with a senate run by the current monarch as its leader. Senate votes on decisions that the people from each district decide, however, the politicians can make slight changes to those votes. It had three branches: The Senate: explained before; The Judicial, which is the criminal and civil justice system, and punishments are decided by judges and carried out by the law enforcement. There is a council for each district, and a head council overseeing and deciding upon larger cases; and the Ruling Party, which consists of the monarch, several advisers who help him, and his family. They can overrule Council decisions.

Power:
Senate is higher that Ruling Party.
Ruling Party is high than Judicial.
Judicial is higher than Senate.
