Breaking and Exiting {Solo Job}

Neyvahn walked through the streets of the shambled town. It had once been a thriving community with an amazing selection of seafood restaurants. Now it's been reduced to small pieces, all because of a sea monster. Neyvahn grimaced, the town's stroke of bad luck painting a bad picture in his head. The attack may have caused an uprising in crime because of a drop in the town's moral. Neyvahn walked passed an empty lot where a large, successful restaurant used to be. He cringed.

"This town's had it rough," he thought.

"No kidding," Kei replied. "It's really unfortunate. Hargeon Town used to be a fantastic place. I can still remember the things some people have said about it back then... wait, why are we here again?" Neyvahn kept walking, passing by what looked like the complex of a shipping company.

" Such a demoralized town is almost guaranteed to have crime happening frequently. We're likely to find a criminal or two to bust."

Kei paused for a second, thinking about what Neyvahn just said. "Are you saying that we're here to find trouble? Wow! I never thought you would be looking for action, brother!"

"We're bounty hunters now," Neyvahn snapped. "It's to be expected." He looked up at the large building of the shipping company. It was a simple building, made out of brick and wood with simple glass pane windows. Neyvahn had to say, the shipping co. was probably what kept the town going. After all, that's what they have to offer right now while they're rebuilding.

Neyvahn was just going to continue walking, but he heard someone yell. His ears perked up, and he stopped in his tracks. It sounded like a man calling out angrily. Neyvahn kept listening and also heard some laughter and some cheering. Kei laughed. "Well then, let's make use of the 'Bounty Hunter' title!" Neyvahn nodded, sprinting towards the part of the complex pointing towards the dock. He noticed a few jewels on the ground, creating a trail from the shipping co. to the dock. Neyvahn looked ahead and spotted two figures with bags over their shoulders.

'Monster Dice' :

The two bandits were no more than 15 meters away from Neyvahn, and they weren't gaining any more breathing room either. Neyvahn kept on their tails and pulled the distance close. Without warning, Neyvahn unsheathed his sword and shouted "Sukoro!", tapping the tip of his sword on the concrete ground. A circle of ice formed on the ground, blooming out from where Neyvahn tapped. The ice formed underneath the bandit's feet and caused them to slip. They fell to the ground, dropping their bags and landing with a thud. Countless Jewels spilled out of their bags, obviously stolen.

Neyvahn wasted no time pinning the first bandit down and quickly punching him numerous times in the face. After a few hits, the bandit fell unconscious. Neyvahn moved to attack the second bandit before he got up, repeating the process with four quick jabs to the nose. Both bandits were out for the count, but Neyvahn could still here banter from other bandits. There were still more, probably with more jewels. Neyvahn leaped up, spotting four more enemies coming from the shipping building.

'Monster Dice' :

"You have more coming your way," Kei said smugly.

"I can see that." Neyvahn stood up, and his ice melted away. Now he'd have to actually fight these guys toe to toe. Whatever, he could pull it off... hopefully. Neyvahn stood tall as the four bandits skidded to a halt.

"Move it, kid!" one of them snapped. He was the tallest of the four, and probably the strongest by the looks of it. He was toting a huge bag of jewels over his shoulder. Neyvahn wouldn't be able to carry something like that. The man must have been working out ever since he could walk. A few scars on his arms and face said that this wasn't his first heist, but hopefully Neyvahn could make it his last.

"Drop the bag, or beating you won't be as interesting," Neyvahn taunted. Kei just listened, mouth mentally agape.

"Since when do you trash talk!?"

"I blame you."

'Block Dice' :

One of the four bandits, probably the youngest of them at about 16 or 17 years, burst forward with his knife in the air and swiped down across Neyvahn's chest. The blade made clean contact, causing Neyvahn to grimace a little. The cut stung.

"Arrogant prick!" he hissed, gripping the knife even harder. Neyvahn just groaned.

"Fine, you're first." He immediately closed the distance between him and the bandit, thrusting his fist into the young man's stomach, then spinning around for a heel to the face. Neyvahn's boot heel beautifully connected with the poor bastard's cheek, spinning him around a few times before he fell down for the count. Like they were waiting for Neyvahn to actually fight back, the other three dropped their bags and rushed him.

The first to attack him was a quick little runner. He was smaller than the others, quick on his feet with two curved swords. He swiped low at Neyvahn's feet and aimed for his ankles. Neyvahn lifted his foot up and stomped on both blades as they passed beneath him, unsheathing his own sword and getting in a quick slash at the pirate's shoulder. Before he knew it, the biggest bandit was all over him, so Neyvahn brought his sword up and blocked a strong slash from his long sword.

Things were getting crowded, so Neyvahn backed off a little. Of course, the bandits came running after him, once again engaging him in combat. After blocking a double slash to the chest from the quick pirate and avoiding a strong stab to the stomach from the muscled bandit, Neyvahn noticed the metal lamp posts at his sides. He'd be able to put his magic to use. Neyvahn lured over his two enemies before pressing his hands on one of the lamp posts. The metal liquefied as a glowing hot ball of metal floating above Neyvahn's hand, splitting apart and forming into needles around him. As if he had known what was coming, the quick pirate scurried away, leaving the big bandit to fend for himself. Neyvahn subtly grinned before launching the barrage of red hot needles towards the unfortunate bandit. 3 of the needles hit directly into the man's torso, the rest scattering into his arms and legs. Each piece splashed away, cooling down as solidified droplets of metal on his body. His internal organs weren't damaged, but the pain itself sure was enough to knock him out cold.

Neyvahn looked to the quick pirate who had retreated against the attack, pulling his sword up into a guarding position. It was then that Kei decided to speak up. Something had been bugging him for a few seconds after the fight started. "Hey brother? Weren't there four in their group? I only count 3."

"Shit," Neyvahn growled. His senses nipped at his back, urging him to turn around. Neyvahn did so, narrowly blocking a sneak attack from the other pirate. This one was female, a little taller than the other with short black hair and brown eyes. All Neyvahn could really think about was "Please don't make me hit a girl..."

Kei got a laugh out of that thought. Neyvahn found himself occupied with two skilled pirates, each one running around him to keep him guessing. The smaller one leaped forward and spun his swords around. Neyvahn kept his long sword up and deflected the attacks before stepping forward and headbutting the man. While he was stumbling back, Neyvahn turned his attention to the other pirate and threw a few attacks. Unfortunately, this pirate was very skilled with her curved swords. Each of his attacks was blocked except for one. He got lucky with a slice to the side of the shin.

The pirate lifted her swords and began attacking, swinging from all angles. Neyvahn blocked a downward slash and a stab straight to the stomach before retaliating with a slide attack to the feet. He successfully tripped the pirate, but not before she caught the front of his belly with the curved sword in her right hand. Neyvahn flinched a little before backing away. The quick pirate was up and he didn't look happy.

Neyvahn noticed more bandits coming from the shipping company, carrying bags of jewels. He groaned. "Jeez! Just how many of these guys are there?"

Neyvahn would have to act quick, else he wished to be outnumbered. Off to the side, he could see three more bandits heading in their direction. He wouldn't want to handle five enemies at once, so he decided to speed things up a bit. "You're up, Kei. Give 'em a proper beat down."

Kei just laughed semi-sinisterly. "About time! Hand me the stick!" Before Neyvahn knew it, Kei had taken over his body and already started combating the bandits. In the few seconds before his hair turned white and his left eye turned violet, Kei lunged forward and landed two solid punches on the quick pirate, then turned and kicked the female pirate in the side. She grimaced a little before throwing three quick slash attacks at Kei. He was able to block each attack, closing the distance between them and palm heeling her in the temple. That'd surely leave her with a headache. She was already staggering around, barely able to stand up, so Kei quickly put her to sleep with a swift kick to the sternum, silently apologizing as she fell.

One pirate down, one to go. Kei turned around to see the quick pirate launching himself at him with both curved swords in hands. The pirate immediately unleashed a flurry of slashes, stabs, and bashes, each one pushing Kei further back. Kei was able to block two of the attacks and dodge most of the others, but a quick slice to the boot caught him by surprise and put quite a cut on his calves. Kei grunted in pain, dropping his knee and bashing his elbow into the top of the pirate's head. Like the other pirate, this one fell unconscious. "Jeez, these guys are persistent."

"Well be more persistent, because more are showing up," Neyvahn replied. Kei nodded his head and turned to face the three bandits showing up. Two of them were younger than Neyvahn, and one of them was about the same age. Kei ran forward, pulling the sword from its scabbard and tapping its tip on the ground, shouting the familiar word "Sukoro!"

The ground around Kei covered itself in ultra smooth ice, causing all three bandits to slip. Kei grinned as his advantage became obvious and launched after the younger bandits. He swept the feet of one bandit and punched the other in the face, pulling the feet of the downed bandit and swinging him into the other one. Both of them fell roughly onto the ice, knocked down for the count. Kei nodded his head and turned to their next enemy as his ice melted from the ground.

'Block Dice' :

Kei prepared as the bandit rose up from the now ice-less ground. He was prepared to take care of him quick. His hold on Neyvahn's body was loosening, and he was gonna recede back to thoughts in a few moments. If he didn't hurry, then Neyvahn would be fighting the bandit with the usual temporary headache. Kei launched forward, unsheathing his sword and thrusting it towards the bandit's leg. The blade cut into the outside of the man's thigh. Kei pulled the sword back and swung around for a slash to the side of his arm. The bandit blocked the attack and retaliated with his own kick to the stomach.

Before Kei could dodge, the control was taken from him, Neyvahn taking his place in his own body once again. "What the- Arrgh!" The bandit's kick landed right in the center of Neyvahn's stomach, adding to the pain he was already feeling from his headache. He stumbled back as the bandit raised his sword and threw it down into Neyvahn's left forearm. Were it not for his gauntlet plating, Neyvahn's hand would have been chopped clean off. He quickly put some distance between him and the bandit, regaining his composure and calming the headache. "What happened, Kei!?"

"I don't know," he said. "I just didn't have a very strong hold this time!"

Neyvahn groaned in frustration, jumping back into the fight and landing a kick to the side of the bandit. "Warn me next time!" He continued his advance, coupling the kick with a quick headbutt. If Neyvahn was going to feel a headache, he might as well share the pain.

Suddenly, Kei spoke up again. "Neyvahn! The bandits were running towards the dock with bags of jewels. There may be more preparing an escape by ship." The bandit stumbled back, dropping his sword. The iron weapon clanged against the ground. Neyvahn stepped forward and grasped the man by his collar, putting the tip of his own sword against the bandit's throat. "Where are the others?"

The bandit began to sweat. "I don't know what you're talking-"

"Don't test me!" Neyvahn growled, pushing the tip of the sword against his neck. The bandit tried to move away, but Neyvahn kept a firm grip on the man's collar. "Where. Is. The. Ship."

The persuation, crude but effective, finally burst the bandit's silent bubble. "I-It's the closest one to the ramp!"

Neyvahn nodded his head, sheathing his sword and tossing the bandit back. However, he couldn't leave him to run away, so Neyvahn moved forward and kicked him in the temple. The man fell to the floor, out cold from the hit. Now that Neyvahn knew which ship the other bandits were at, he could keep them from leaving the port. Neyvahn ran off towards the end of the dock, leaving someone else to find and arrest the unconscious bandits all around him.

'Monster Dice' :

At the end of the dock ahead, Neyvahn could see a few bandits tossing their haul of the loot onto the ship. It looked like they were just about ready to go. "They're untying the ship and pulling their anchors." One of the bandits pulled up their only way onto the ship, leaving Neyvahn too far out of reach. "Dammit! What now?"

Neyvahn began climbing crates and cranes to get to a higher point. "We hope we make it!" The ship began moving from the dock, leaving with whatever amount of jewels they still had from the shipping co. Neyvahn picked up his feet and compensated for the ship's speed and directional course. If he didn't trip up, he might be able to make the jump. It was a long shot though, both metaphorically and physically. Neyvahn sprinted as fast as he could. He was running out of higher boxes to jump on, and the ship wasn't slowing down. Neyvahn was almost there, just a few more boxes. Two more boxes of running space. One box.

Neyvahn planted the balls of his feet against the edge of the box, pushing with everything he had. His feet left the boxes, and he flew through the air. Neyvahn kept an eye on the ship, looking for the first targets, then he slammed against the side... Hard. He grasped the edge of the ship's deck with his hands, barely hanging on after the wind was knocked out of him. Neyvahn took a few moments to recollect his breath. That noise was sure to attract everyone on the ship, so he climbed up and got onto the deck.

Sure enough, three more enemies ran to where Neyvahn hit the side of the ship. By the looks of it, they weren't to be trifled with. Two of them had two curved swords each, and the other had a long sword. Each one of them seemed like a formidable opponent, so Neyvahn unsheathed his sword. "What do you think of these guys, Kei?"

"These guys?" Kei laughed. "You've fought harder."

'Block Dice' :

All three rushed him, surrounding him and swinging their swords. Neyvahn blocked an incoming swing from one of the pirates, but failed to catch an attack from behind him. Two curved swords cut through his armor and into his back. Neyvahn grunted in pain and focused on the one with a long sword, blocking an overhead swing from him and charging with his shoulder. Neyvahn connected the charge and broke through their circle.

"Use frostbite on one of the pirates!" Kei said. Neyvahn nodded his head, swinging his sword down on one of the pirate's right arms. The pirate went to block the strike, but failed to hear Neyvahn whisper "Tosho" under his breath. Neyvahn's sword phased through both the pirate's sword and the pirate's right arm. The attacked area instantly covered over with frost and the pirate couldn't move his arm anymore. Neyvahn turned his attention back to the bandit with the long sword. One more strong attack ought to take him down. Neyvahn lunged forward and swung a wide slash from the side at the bandit, which was easily blocked. However, that attack was no more than a distraction from Neyvahn's leg sweep. He kicked the bandit off of his feet and onto the deck of the ship, leaving him open for a well placed jab to the face. Neyvahn delivered the hit and knocked out his first enemy.

Before Neyvahn could get up, he was tackled by one of the pirates. Neyvahn rolled around a little as his sword fell from his hand, looking up to see the pirate holding one of his swords up high. He swung the sword down at Ney's head. The mage narrowly dodged a splitting headache attack as the blade continued on its path into his shoulder. He growled in pain, lifting his hands up and throwing two strong sucker punches into the pirate's stomach. While he had him stunned, Neyvahn lifted himself up and headbutted his enemy. He slipped out from underneath and grabbed his sword before the other pirate got to him.

The other pirate was the one whose right arm was momentarily frostbitten. Because of that, he could only hold one sword. Neyvahn used that to his advantage and ran forward. Each fighter exchanged hits back and forth, Neyvahn landing a couple cuts and the pirate landing a deep slice down the cheek. By now, the other pirate was getting up, preparing to fight Neyvahn again. Neyvahn decided it best not to try fighting two capable enemies at a time, so he faced the pirate he was fighting and stepped forward, placing his left foot on the pirate's foot across from his. He then sweeped his right foot in between the pirate's feet and kicked outwards, bringing the pirate into a deep lunge. Neyvahn delivered a quick punch to the nose, then spun around and smashed his heel into the pirate's temple.

Two down, one to go. The other pirate was up by now, running at him with both swords. Neyvahn begun to spin his sword around, throwing out occasional slashes and stabs to confuse him. The pirate blocked his hits and threw his own ones, landing two of them. Neyvahn grimaced, ducking another hit and using the momentum to initiate a spinning butterfly kick. His two kicks nailed the pirate right in the face, knocking him unconscious.

Neyvahn landed and took a deep breath, kneeling onto the ground and planting his unarmed hand on his knee. "Are you okay?" the voice in his head asked.

"Yeah, it's all sunshine and rainbows right now," Neyvahn hissed sarcastically. "Where have you been?" He stood back up and sheathed his sword.

"Thought you'd do better without me distracting you. There's likely going to be more crew below deck. Are you up for some more trouble?" Neyvahn ran a hand through his hair and shook off any doubts he had.

"Takes more than a little extra trouble to drive me away. Let's go."

Neyvahn had cleared the deck of bandits, now he had to look for any other bandits that may have stashed more stolen jewels below deck. The hatch was probably the quickest way. However, before Neyvahn went into the ship to investigate, he went to the side of the ship and managed to wave down a few men on the dock. They began pulling in the ship.

"Okay, the ship's not going anywhere," Neyvahn said confidently.

"Good, now let's clean house!"

Neyvahn leaped down the hatch, falling into a room with seven other bandits pouring jewels into barrels. When his feet hit the floor, they all turned to face him, pulling out an assortment of knives and long swords. "No subtle approach?" Kei jestered.

"Waste of time. What should I do?"

"Use some of the metal on the jewel barrels to shower these bandits with red hot needles." Neyvahn pulled his own sword out and ran towards a few bandits close to two barrels of jewels.

"Wouldn't the needles set the ship on fire if I missed?" Neyvahn asked as he dodged a horizontal slash from one bandit and a straightforward stab from another bandit.

"Your needles are hot enough to burn skin, but not to set wood on fire," Kei explained as Neyvahn charged between the bandits and hovered his hand over a barrel. The metal flowed together into a ball of molten metal, splitting and dividing into 20 individual needles, each one scorching hot.

"I sure as hell hope you're right." Neyvahn launched all 20 needles to the 7 bandits in front of him. At least two needles hit each bandit, knocking them flat on their backs. Some unlucky fighters got three needles. Neyvahn stood there and watched for any fires, but as Kei predicted, his needles didn't start any fires.

"What did I tell you?"

Around that time, the men on the dock had boarded the ship and pulled it back into the dock. Workers from the shipping company came and recovered the jewels, also taking the bandits and pirates into custody. However, before Neyvahn left, the boss of the shipping co. gave him a payment of jewels as a token of his gratitude.

Neyvahn sighed, glad that he didn't come to Hargeon Town for nothing, but it was about time to head home now. Enough adventure for one day.
