MUD! Of course it had to be MUD! What else could it have been? Large grassy fields? A thick forest? Even a string of shale would have been better then this. Kaia grumbled angrily as she trudged her boots through the thick liquid. After losing her chasers in a cave system, Kaia finally found a way out. Only to be met with a muddy path that lead all the way down the mountain... It was either this or falling to her death. And given her most recent epxeirences, that didn't sound like a very bad idea anymore... How long at it been anyways? A week? Maybe two? Kaia couldn't remember. The last few days were haze, and her internal calendar had all but left the girl behind. All she knew what that some sort of fire magic resonated inside her now, but she had no idea how to use it. It seemed to have a mind of its own however, as when Kaia felt really pissed off, that's when it showed itself. If only there was way she could use it without getting angry. Ugh, the situation she had put herself in.
3 miserable hours later, she finally reached the end of the trail. The mountains behind her, and long green plains in front. Kaia took little notice though, as her mind was far more concerned about getting the mud off her boots. She grumbled and cursed herself as she shook them clean of rocks and dirt, before finding a rock and placing them back on again. After that, she had a little break. Her mind mulling ver the previous events. She had no idea where she was going, and her food store was running out. All she had on her person was a small leather bag, filled with fruit, nuts, and anything else she could scavenge. However, according to her sources there was a small town just east of her location. If she were to walk straight for a day or two, she'd surly find it. With that, Kaia gave an annoyed sigh, and began the long trek across the endless fields.
SUnset came sooner then expected, and Kaia was forced to take a breather. Luckily, she had stumbled across a small grove of trees she could use to set up camp. After many failed attempts to start a fire, the anger quickly boiled up inside the red haired girl, and then a spark appereared from her palm. Just small enough to ingite the wood. Stupid fire magic. Had to only work when she got annoyed. Soon, the moon began its long climb towards the sky, and Kaia fell into a deep sleep. Wrapped tightly in a blanket next to her fire.
"CHOOM!" The ground shook, and the trees rustled for a moment... But then silence. "BOOM!" The sound was heard again, although it sounded closer. The girl shifted in her sleep, and slowly opened an eye. She could see birds far above her fleeing their homes in terror of what seemed like an imminent threat. Kaia payed little attention, and attempted to fall back asleep again. "KOOM!" Alright, something was wrong. ANd it was disturbing Kaia's sleep. Something that made her pissed. "There better be a DAMN good reason why someon-..." She stopped mid sentence as a huge shadow fell over her. The girl stared silently. Her jaw wide open, and her eyes to match... Coming straight towards her... A giant. Fucking. Turtle. It was HUGE! It was like as big as a city. Kaia trembled in fear for a moment, before taking a few steps back. The monster's head seemed to be faceing a certain direction, and cared little for the girl. Assuming it didn't even see her. "Huh..." Was the only word that could escape Kaia's mouth as she tried to process what her brain was telling her she was seeing. Not only was it a giant turtle, but said turtle had something on it's back. For the distance she was at it seemed like buildings. However, Kaia wasted no time to speculate, before she quickly turned around and began sprinting as fast as she could. Each step the giant monster took could be felt rumbling on the ground, and seemed Kaia was gaining little distance as the creature's legs lumbered closer. That's when something else was spotted overhead.
With a quick "WHOOSH" like sound effect, a winged metal object flew right above Kaia and hovered several feet in the direction she was running. The side opened up to reveal a small group of men wearing odd armour. Kaia's eyes widened even more and she screeched to a halt. However, before she could find another escape route, she felt a hot buzz hit her neck, and her body went stiff. She fell to the ground, not being able to move a muscle. Could this be them? Had MANA finally caught her? After weeks of running had she finally been captured? No answers would come for her now though, as her mind faded into a deep sleep... The thooming sound of the beast faded with it.
