    :

A snowflake gracefully waltz through the air, it danced as the arctic winds playfully swept it through the snow covered hills and plains of the Silent Glaciers. It fluttered and whirled innocently until it was swatted out of existence by a brown glove.

"Stupid snow flake, imitating the feather from the movie with the bus stop and all." grumbled the owner of the hand that just obliterated the speck of ice.

The voice belonged to a female, with hazel eyes and flowing green hair, which at the moment was braided and tucked inside her coat. She was grumpy because she was on a mission that had her walking across the frozen wastelands towards the village of a tribe of powerful ice junkies to retrieve a sacred relic that she had no use for. That and the fact that the job will yield no jewels, not even a single piece. The only reason she agreed to it was because it was a request from an old acquaintance, an acquaintance that she admires and fears both at the same time. She slightly shivered, not from the frigid air, but from the idea of what her partner might do to her if she failed to do her part.

Alleria was too busy whining internally that she failed to notice that they had reached the edge of the snow white forest. Flowering plants and dwarf shrubs all covered in a blanket of snow lined the outer edge of the forest, while inside, coniferous trees towered with mats of ice rested upon their leaves. Icicles protruding from the ground and hanging from the branches also are literally everywhere. Some small while some are big enough to impale a full grown vulcan. And speaking of vulcans, a bunch of white furred vulcans scurried of as the two stopped near the entrance to forest, sending the curious forest creatures that peeped thru the shrubs and holes the trees scurrying off as well.

She had no idea that an ecosystem such as this thrived within this frozen lands, then again if those creatures weren't there, what would the locals feed off then. She softly sighed as she thought "I wonder what other surprises we might encounter along the way."  She then looked at the man leading in front of her and continued with her thoughts "Will he ever say anything to me at all, its been hours since we started this journey and not a single peep from him." It did bother her that her partner seemed more focused and driven than the last time they teamed up...like this job was something personal." "Well what ever it is I hope he doesn't chop me up and leave after were done....oh and he's moving again."

With that, the team disappeared into the forest, unaware of the dangers that lurked within.

    Job:
    WC Method: 11,400 words each

Walking through the snow with his bare feet, legs covered by nothing but a pair of oriental robe bottoms with torn edges, the white sash at his waste having its flayed ends whipping through the bitter wind; Niyol allowed his memories to take hold as he allowed the ghost of his past to haunt him. The events of Magnolia Town, where he avenged the death of his closest friend and aided to put an end to the madness, the chaos, the sheer amount of death that caused an imbalance in the world and instability of the mage's power. The topless man reached into the snowy, white bandages covering only his abdomen and pulled out a rather long but slender piece of diamond. The only thing he had to remember his pet by, the smallest of her fangs that would easily fetch 500 mill at any store; but even that price was too low to make him part with it. The dull, dark violet eyes scanned the world around him. 'So much has changed...' he thought to himself. "Alstoba." Niyol said, his voice stern and serious. His shadow, stretched across a blanket of pure white changed shape to that of a woman. Horns were at its head, a pair of small bat like wings at her back and in her hand was the visage of a large scythe, easily nine feet high and six feet from the tip of the smaller blade, to the tip of the much larger one. "It's rare for you to call me out my love, are w-" Altsoba, the Demon of War began saying with a rather playful and seductive voice. "I have a request." Niyol said, interrupting her with a cold and serious tone. "Oh?" she sounded intrigued. The shadow on the ground showed no true features aside from a white a mouth shaped cutout that moved when the shadow spoke. Niyol let out a sigh as he got ready to say it... "I'd like you to assist in this task as well." He said, forcing the irritation to be not as prominent as it normally was. "Eh?" Altsoba said, her eyes wide open with shock as the sound came out. Niyol turned to face the shadow, the shadow didn't follow the same actions. "We're going to a place where the people all know me. They know my power, and have a weapon capable of destroying all three of us at once. Knowing that, it may still be easier if there were three." Niyol said, his voice was shaky as he admitted he would never be able to accomplish this alone; and had just as much a chance even with a demon at his side. "A- are... you sure? After what I did... back then?" Altsoba asked, still maintaining her shadow form. "Your power alone is undeniable." Niyol said right before he dropped to his knees, clenched fists against the frozen pillow. "Please. I, Niyol the Chief of Souls humbly beg-" a hand was placed on his shoulders by the demon in her true form. "Stop. Any other time I'd pay to see you on your knees. You there, woman!" Altsoba interrupted Niyol before addressing Alleria. "I'm Altsoba, former queen to the land this man hails from. Over the past two millennia that I've existed as a demon, I've been known by many names. She devil, murderer, plague, harbinger of destruction; but truest of all I am titled the Demon of War. I trust you to guard my master's back. I shall guard both of yours." she said firmly, as though she were still a queen as she spoke to their partner. Altsoba stretched and open hand to Niyol which he grabbed firmly, pulling himself up as their eyes locked with confident expressions matching. "Bore that image into your minds, you'll never find me on my knees again." Niyol said looking at Alleria with his standard cold expression. He then turned to face the direction they needed to go and began walking.

Alleria walked closely behind the odd pair. She really had no idea about the guy she called her partner, it was after all a partnership out of necessity, she just stuck with him out of respect for the man. Still, she was intrigued by what the overbearing demoness revealed to her, could the barely clothed man before him be the ruler of another land or dimension...and that woman. "Demon of war...where have I heard of that name before."

But before she can delve on the subject any further, she was stopped on her track when the duo up ahead halted. She was about to ask her partner what the problem was when she noticed the sudden silence that befall the forest. That and she felt hostile eyes watching over them. She was about to point it out to her partner but when she looked him he just gave him an all knowing stare and continued to march on. "Ok so proceed with caution it is." she mumbled under her breath.

As the party advanced through the seemingly deserted path, the surroundings began to get darker and darker, not just from the absence of light, but the surrounding seemed to get twisted by some potent presence. Like the permafrost flowers blooming on frosted crystalline vines which snaps on anything that gets too close to it or the peculiar evergreen trees that are also in bloom though they should be devoid of its flowers and leaves since the weather wasn't really spring, that and with the fact that each step they take seems to draw them closer to the source of the forest's enigmatic vitality.

Strong winds began to blow sending blossoms from the nearby trees flying towards the snow bound crew. Alleria not wanting to be blinded by the incoming blast tried to shield her eyes from the incoming barrage of snow and petals with her hand. Once she was sure that the flurry had passed, she removed her hand, only to find a peculiar creature standing a few feet ahead of them. She wasnt sure if it was some kind of nymph or fairy, for it had wings and altered facial features.

"Turn back now strangers, the path you take leads towards your demise." it said in a soft and sultry voice. It was as if it was imploring them to turn back."If you travel any further you may incur the wrath of the forest guardian and he might..."

Alleria just blinked at the creature then looked at his partner. It seems the creatures warning did not faze him at all for he continued to march on with the demoness by her side.

Winds began to whirl around the creature forming a tornado as it spoke in a rather altered and deeper tone. "You made your choice mortals....so be it!" The whirlwind picked up speed sending snow spiraling upwards where it scattered and disappeared into the wind along with the mysterious creature.

"Well, that's one classy way to exit." Alleria said before she raced after her partner.

After the fairy left, the world began returning to it's natural state. Snow began falling, quickly covering the grass and trees, as well as making the air frigid once more. Niyol felt nothing however, for him, coming here made him feel nothing but empty. This land was once his play ground, fond memories of his childhood plagued his every thought as he trudged through the icy powder. "My dear, is there something bothering you?" Altsoba asked, noticing a tear hitting the snow. Niyol used his arm to wipe the rest of them from his eyes and said "The past wishes to combat me greater than those who inhabit this land will. In the name of balance, I must steel myself and continue my path." he replied, his voice show no signs of sadness, or any other emotion. "May I ask why you brought a dark wizard with you?" She asked to change the topic. "In the eyes of the mother, there is no such thing as good and evil, merely a conflict of ideals. As far as I am concerned, I wanted a strong ally, and miss Alleria was kind enough to be willing to be that ally. Have you any complaints?" Niyol stated matter of factly. "None my lord, but I do have concerns for a possible betrayal." she said back. "Until a blade is placed in my spine, I shall continue to treat her as though she intended to be true to her word." Niyol replied with his emotionless voice. "Very well." she said. Altsoba slowed her pace, walking beside Alleria. "No offense to you, but I am highly protective of my vessel. Without him I'd be quite bored... especially at night." she said, using a seductive voice at the end to give off a type of hint to Alleria. "If you're wondering about this weapon of theirs, it's not truly a weapon. It's a girl. One of the tribe's guardians to be exact, and my lord's oldest friend. They were quite close when he was a child, so much so they wished to be married. Unfortunately, such practice was almost as frowned upon as much incest in Niyol's tribe. As a heads up, you'll be hearing some cute nicknames for him when we arrive." Altsoba said, her voice was pretty relaxed as she spoke. Ahead was the beginning of a clearly marked path, lined with torches. In front it was two men wearing full suits of armour, each holding a bastard sword and a kite shield. "Hold traveler!" one of the men called with a deep, stern voice. "Let the will of the mother pass through, less you wish damnation of your soul" Niyol said firmly. "Th-the mother? M-my apologies shaman, we received no word from the Tribe of Souls so I fear we haven't a proper ceremony..." one of the men stated humbly. "Fear not, my business here would not permit such an occasion. I bear no fair tithings, only those of grief." Niyol said calmly, his eyes remaining dead looking. "I see. May your journey be met with ease then, you know the path to be treacherous." the deep voices on said. "Indeed, and may your souls find peace in their home." Niyol said. "What!?" one of them said as Altsoba stepped forward and beheaded the two guards with a single motion with her scythe. Niyol looked at the bodies on the ground. "Bad servant... no... you shouldn't randomly kill people..." he said sarcastically. "Oops, finger slipped." Altsoba replied with equal sarcasm. That done, the two began walking up the path to the tribe.

Alleria looked at the severed head that rolled and bumped her feet, then softly kicked it aside. "Now I know where he got his hobby of wringing heads." Still, she was happy at the turn of events. It was quite getting more and more intriguing as clues and hints were given away callously. Soul tribe, shaman, and mother... from the way the decapitated warrior spoke of it, it seems they both feared this mother. Plus, who knew that the emotionless assassin she knew had a soft side. This friend of his..from the way the demoness described her, it seems Niyol had special feelings for her. It seems this trip was not going to be boring after all, it may turn out to be quite interesting. There was a glint of mischief as a wicked smile crept to her frost bitten lips. "Interesting indeed."

"That's not really a good idea mistress." came a small voice.

Alleria turned her head sideways in search of the origin of the tiny voice. Hovering to her left was a dark glowing orb, about the size of an apple, and inside it was a tiny little sprite all comfy in her globe. "I don't remember summoning you."  Her voice had a hint of irritation in them, she really hates it when her summons or familiars just suddenly appear out of nowhere. The dark orb fluttered her shoulder to shoulder, orbiting around her like a moon on a planet. "Excuse my impetuousness mistress, but you did give Korchin and I the right to intervene whenever you get crazy ideas involving allies."
Alleria's smile turned into a frown. "Oh right..."

Alleria continued on her path expecting the sprite to return to what ever realm it usually loiters in, but after a few more minute of wandering, she noticed that the little imp continued to tag behind. "What are you still doing here? Aren't you suppose to be in a pocket dimension with your friends?" The tiny sprite said no words, instead, it looked at her with big beady eyes that are pleading for her to let her stay. Being the cold heartless scoundrel that she was, she let her stay, it was good to have a tiny little voice validating that her train of thought will get her in trouble. "Just keep a low profile, I think Alstoba eats creatures like you for breakfast, and I mean it literally."

Along the winding, frozen path Niyol stopped by a flat plot of land with a smooth, glossy surface. His eyes grew soft as the ghosts of his past were seen playing happily before him as though such a thing were still possible. Altsoba stood behind Niyol, her eyes showed no concern for his personal well being even though her heart ached alongside his. When the man turned away and took back to his path, Altsoba said to Alleria with a reminiscent voice "Back when he was a boy... before he became what he is now that, he and that girl would play on this lake. He was god awful as ice skating, but he never stopped laughing no matter how many times he fell. Was quite adorable to watch..." Altsoba then turned to keep pace with her vessel, but stopped when she noticed the man was in the middle of the path with his weapon drawn. The black blade, glistening in the morning sun then changed form to that of a scythe. He lifted the scythe, holding it as though he were about to horizontally cleave someone's head off and then completed the action with a sweeping motion. Out of the blade came two lines, one black and one blue. He swept it across in the opposing direction and a third line flew out behind the first two. Flying through the snow covered land, two figures became marked in Niyol's eyes as they cringed from the attack. One was a male with a pair of swords, and next to him was a spider. They erupted from the snow, immediately being hit by the third streak and immediately began feeding Niyol their souls. "I shall take the one with the swords, the spider is all yours. Once it dies, it will explode." Niyol said before charging at the Ice Warrior with his scythe held in one hand. Altsoba waited a couple seconds, making sure that when she got moving her attacks and Niyol's wouldn't get in each other's way and eventually hook the other. Darting after her master, Altsoba held the same formation with her scythe. The spider seeming to have already claimed Alleria as its opponent went and charged straight for her, going so far as to jump straight over Altsoba. Niyol arrived at the soldier first, immediately dropping to his knees and sliding under the knight's sword as it tried to make a first strike on the mage. Altsoba was right behind him, using her scythe to make a slash at the enemy's legs. The action was enough to make it panic and jump in the safest direction to avoid losing half a leg. Niyol was impressed slightly that the construct was this skilled, meaning he knew exactly who made it.

It happened all so fast, Altsoba was in the middle of telling her part of Niyol's history when enemies appeared out of the snow. It was an ambush! But too bad for them they were facing her and the swordsman. As her partner face the swordsman, she was left to tangle with the giant spider. It was pretty light on its feet for a huge lumbering creature, for it managed to close the 15 meter distance between them in a matter of a few seconds. The sound of a hundred blades colliding with hard carapace which was as thick as steel rang out. Its a good thing she activated her armor in time, the legions of blades protruding from her armor are the only thing that stands between her and the monster's dagger like fangs, fangs that oozing and dripping with slimy green venom.

"Mistress, be careful, that liquid is both poisonous and corrosive." quipped the tiny sprite. What her familiar said was true, there was a hissing sound as sulfuric mist rose from the blades as they came in contact with the green fluid.

    "This is bad."
the green haired mage thought. The monster was not only fast, it was also strong, using its sheer weight to subdue her, driving her almost to the snow covered ground. She had to act now before the creature pins her down with its arms. In one fluid motion, Alleria retracted the blades from her armor while simultaneously propelling herself away from the spider, using the stored force from their stand off. She managed to get some distance between them but the spider was relentless. The spider crouched low and sprang from the ground. It was airborne, its trajectory, her.

She turned her head to her familiar and yelled. "Are you just going to watch there or do you plan on
    helping me out?!"
The sprite replied in a nonchalant voice "But mistress, you did not issue a command." Her eyebrows twitched "Just stop the damned thing!!!" With the command issued, the sprite moved into action. A radiant dark aura came flowing out from the sprite's sphere and the incoming spider ceased movement in mid air. It was suspended, held in place by the purple energy coating its entire body. The sprite then turned to Alleria and spoke in composed but annoying manner "What now mistress?" Alleria rubbed her finger to her temple "Do I really have to tell you everything...Destroy it!"

"As you wish." the sprite said in a mischievous tone. Within a span of of a few seconds, the spider was flung from one tree to another and smashed again and again to the ground then pulled apart and hurl away into the distance where it exploded in a cloud of green smoke.

The sound of clashing blades filled the air as Niyol continuously slashed at the frozen warrior. Altsoba found its defense to be unfitting of its official title. The berserker, large men who were known in their time to be unstoppable forces during war... this one seemed to having troubles keeping up with just one man, and unfortunately for him had to deal with Altsoba. She watched as Alleria had used some strange magic to play pinball with the ice spider, and let out a sigh as Niyol was having troubles breaking through the berserker's defense. Though, a closer inspection would reveal the berserker was actually attacking Niyol's weapon in order to stop the attacks. Altsoba's eyes grew rather blank as she realized she'd have no choice but to show off... A dark purple magic circle manifested itself above the group, spanning an entire mile in diameter. "Oh great beings of the planes of existence, those who control the axis of time and space. Hear my call, manifest your powers onto this humble servant and let all of creation know your name..." she began chanting. Meanwhile, Niyol made a slash at the ice warrior and used a quick spin on the ground to get around its incoming attack. The soldier slammed its foot where Niyol was about to land, catching him by the heel. "... I call for the powers of time, to stop and rule this space for only a moment. Manifest, and let your battle cry sound!" Altsoba finished. Niyol watched as the blade was being swung, time slowing down as it was about to touch his neck, and the blade stopping just in time.

Altsoba looked around, time was completely still. The birds above were frozen, and she calmly walked over to Niyol and his attacker. She made a quick swing, cutting the being in the arm that was about to hit Niyol. Another two swings cut through the creature's legs, and other arm. Then she finally made a final swing and removed the being's head. Altsoba set her scythe standing up in the snow and snapped her fingers. The purple magic circle above completely disappeared, and the birds that were frozen in time resumed flying. The ice berserker however couldn't move, and after a brief moment it fell apart. Niyol was wide eyed as he'd only a moment ago felt the blade touching his neck, a small line of blood formed from where it had, but the blood froze over in seconds from the extreme cold. He knew Altsoba was powerful... but he didn't know the she could instantly dismember an opponent. Naturally he didn't know that she'd stopped time to do so, and if he found out he'd be even more shocked that he was at the moment. The man got up, shaking the look of fear and astonishment from his face and looked over to Alleria. "Are you injured Miss Alleria!?" he called across the snow as he began walking towards her. 'Thanks.' he said to Altsoba in his head. 'No problem, would be a bit boring if you up and died on me.' Altsoba replied, giving Niyol a smile as he walked away.

Since her battle ended earlier than usual, she had the pleasure of watching her partner in action, and what she saw stunned her. She saw everything or rather its what she did not see that had shocked her the most. She was about to issue a command to her sprite to aid Niyol in his battle when it happened, one second her partner was about to lose his head but the next second the attacker fell down in pieces. At first she thought it was him who did it, but the shocked looked on his face told it all, it had to be Altsoba's doing. Such terrifying power indeed.

Her armor reverted back to her winter coat as Niyol approached her. "Yeah I'm fine thanks for asking...I was actually worried for you for a second there but it seems you have your very own guardian angel." She said as she gestured towards the dark entity. She was about to say something else when she felt a sharp pain in her upper left arm. Frost bite? But it couldn't, it was then that she notice a bald patch in her winter coat, right where the pain seemed to emanate. The sprite buzzed and hovered at the spot inspecting it, ignoring the person who her mistress was talking too.  "Oh right, Niyol this is Aya, my familiar. She can be a bit ill-mannered at time...Actually most of my summons too.." she had to cut her sentence short as a sharp jolt of pain raced trough her body.

"Mistress it seemed a drop of the spiders poison had penetrated your armor. You should take off your clothes so we can inspect the situation." the sprite bluntly said not caring that the Niyol was just a few feet away from her mistress and the demoness withing an ear shots away. Alleria's cheeks quickly turned red. "What the hell, Aya sure can be so direct sometimes." Another jolt of pain brought her back to the issue at hand. "Damn it!" she cursed then immediately taking her coat off revealing a cotton white tank top, her blush grew even more when she realized that her bra can almost be seen trough the flimsy material, what can she say its comfortable even in battles.

These was blackish spot on her arm and blue and green webbed veins had started to spread from it.  "Mistress, we have to cut off your arm so you wont die."

Niyol glared at the small creature with his dark purple, dull, dead looking eyes. The look was enough to send a chill down even Altsoba's spine. "Greetings." he said with an icy tone upon learning its name. He didn't bother introducing himself as Alleria had already said his name. A shot of pain ran through the woman, something Niyol hadn't quite expected to see. The small thing said all that needed to be said. It turned out Alleria had in fact been hit by the spider. Niyol would accuse himself of having chose a bad partner, but he did almost get beheaded not too long ago. The sprite told Alleria to disrobe, an action that caused the woman to blush. "Lady Alleria." Niyol said with a stern voice. "I hold no pleasure in seeing half naked females, remove your top at once." he demanded with an impatient voice. He saw another shot of pain run through her, seeming to be enough to convince her to remove most of her garments. He'd noticed her undergarment below a rather thin piece of clothing that had no sleeves, noticing that she was turning even more red for some reason. The question as to why she became flustered was pushed aside as it was of little concern to Niyol. The mage opened his mouth, revealing he has much sharper incisors that her ought to. Those very same incisors latched into Alleria's arm, clamping down as hard as possible with a vacant look in his eyes. He bit down even harder, piercing the swollen area and drawing blood. His mouth filled partially with it before pulled away and spat out the crimson liquid. Niyol went back to the arm and began sucking out more poisoned blood and spitting it out, repeating the cycle a couple times. Once finished, Niyol grabbed a ball of snow and stuffed in his mouth to let it warm up. Once his mouth was clean and the taste of blood was gone, Niyol placed his hand on the wound to apply some cold magic to it. The spell was sufficient to stop the bleeding, and kill off any bacteria that may be in the wound, but it would do little more than lessen the pain from Niyol biting the woman. Niyol wiped a bit of blood from his mouth and walked back to Altsoba who handed him his scythe with a strange look on her face. The expression was a mix of surprise, and mischief... mixed in with an urge to speak. "Let's go... before they resurrect." Niyol said with a cold voice as he began walking back down the path.

After the quick skirmish, the duo, along with their companions continued on the path they were on. Niyol walked on ahead while Alleria lagged behind, with the latter still concerned with her injury. And it does not help her current predicament as the air around them was getting colder and colder and with her exposed skin, she could feel the cold nipping at the fresh wound. Alleria glanced at the wound that her partner just had treated. That was some quick thinking on his part, having to regenerate a severed limb may take a while to grow but the tricky part was getting it to function properly and given their current situation, having two arms is better than one. The pain that was caused by the poison had ceased only to be replaced by pain caused by the frigid arctic air. The bleeding had stopped thanks to her partners magic, but left the skin wrinkly and bluish in color.  "Does this look normal?" she asked the dark imp hovering next to her. The sprite looked at it and quipped "Nope, but im sure it will heal just fine." She was about to make a retort when she heard a noise from a distance. It sounded like steel banging against steel, and it was coming from behind them. Niyol must have heard it too for as soon as he and Alleria made eye contact, both had a silent agreement to hurry up their pace and get the hell out of that place as fast as they can. "So this was probably what he meant by let's go before they resurrect" This got her intrigued, to have such a powerful enchantment in place, there must be something really precious hidden within this glacial mountains worth protecting, or so she thought.

As the clanging noise got closer and closer, Alleria noticed that it also got louder, not in the sense because it was near, but in the sense that the sound was now coming from various directions as well. The enemy must have alerted its comrades and now the reinforcements are coming. The narrow forest path that they were on began to open up, revealing other paths connecting to it and their enemies are using it to trap them in. With their enemy quickly closing in on them the only option they had at the moment was to go straight forward, towards the clearing up ahead where hopefully they can dispatch of the nuisance that had been trailing them.

Niyol had felt it... those spiders reactivating and the warrior from before. "Damnit, she got stronger." he hissed while turning around. "Did you expect any less?" Altsoba said calmly. "No, but I'm permitted to hope am I not?" he said with a slightly unhappy tone, turning to face the incoming enemies. "Lady Kusanagi, I must ask you to deal with the knight this time, I wish not for you to be poisoned a second time." Niyol stated with a calm, gentle voice that he hadn't used with the woman before, at least, not to such an extent. "Wait... y- Ni- Niyol, you're not gonna-" "I have little choice." Niyol's tone was grim, implying that he had some sort of power that he was yet to show. By Altsoba's reaction, Alleria would be able to easily figure that whatever force Niyol was prepared to unleash, it was a type of power that made even demons tremble.

Altsoba seemed slightly worried that Niyol was about to unleash his true nature in the presence of another, the fact that he barely knew this one, accompanied by Niyol's not minding unshackling himself had made it worse. However, she realized that there was no changing his mind on this matter. Something about the girl had made Niyol feel it was appropriate to expose himself in ways he'd never done before, either that or he knew that the enemy they'd have to face at the end of this wouldn't give him an opportunity to do this once their battle began. "I'll hold them off then." she said calmly, stretching her hand and freezing the time around the two spiders.

Niyol let out a deep breath, holding his left arm out and letting his mind ease. "Spirits of the mortal plain hear my plea and be merciful to my being. A sinner brings himself forth if only to call on your strength and humbly beg forgiveness..." A massive pool of green mist had risen from the snow, circling around Niyol eerily while becoming thicker. "... For the sins of the unworthy bathe my soul, I beg for purification and acceptance from those who judge me. Let no man send me astray, let no woman seduce me, let no wordly pleasure become mine undoing, and let my only guide be my heart..." The mass of green had risen to Niyol's waist and began incorporating shades of yellow and orange into it. "...I beg for my destiny, as the last of those worthy, but the one least worthy to take up arms I beg to become your guardian, the Guardian of Souls."

A brilliant blue and black flame erupted from the green mist, engulfing Niyol and anyone within 10 meters of him but not burning anyone as it shot into the sky. After a few moments, the flame dissipated slowly to reveal Niyol had a slightly different look about him... On his let hand, the one he was reaching outward with was gauntlet with nails that were sharpened to resemble claws. However, this was no ordinary gauntlet... it was made entirely of blue and black flames, and made it look like Niyol's arm was on fire. Niyol's entire body was covered in a type of blue aura, and his magical presence had completely vanished... At the same time, the two spiders that Altsoba had frozen in time were gone, and in there place was a set of ashes that Altsoba let hit the floor. Niyol had reached his claw-like arm in and looked at it, flexing the fingers while gazing upon it with an apathetic stare.

Post by Alleria 6th July 2016, 9:18 am

Alleria smirked at Niyol's words before facing the ice monster before her, she swore there was a tinge of concern in his tone, but then again it may just as well be the freezing weather that was messing with her brains.  "Hello again handsome, I'm still relishing the gift your partner gave me, but by all means, you're welcome to play." she said while showing the grunt her almost necrotized arm. She was about to continue with her soliloquy but the ice creature seemed disinterested with what ever she was to say and went on the offensive. The brute lunged at her with its poisoned tipped sword aimed right at her heart. Clang, came the resounding sound as swords came clashing against each other. "Sorry honey, but this time im prepared!" she said as she shoved the beast back giving ample distance between them. Alleria was on en garde, her left hand was behind her back and the right hand held a saber. The silvery blade gave off a soft greenish light which caused the green haired mage confusion. "Odd, it should be burning bright red right now since I'm dealing with an ice creature. No matter, it if won't melt, I would gladly break it to pieces."

Alleria took the initiative to make the first move this time as she started running towards the monster. "Usagi!" A purple summoning circle popped out beside her and out came a blue haired, rabbit eared girl. Since they where in a tight spot, she had to rely mainly on their connection as master and summon. She gave the rabbit girl a quick look, then looked at the monster in front of them, then back at the long eared summon. Ashura looked at her and said "You could have just told me." Suddenly, both their speed increased dramatically as they approached the frozen creature until they appeared nothing more than blue streaks of light. What followed was a barrage of clacking and clanging as the streaks of light surrounded and whizzed around the ice warrior. It tried to deter its attackers by flailing its sword around, but Alleria and Ashura were just too fast. Cracks were starting to form around the ice creatures body, particularly around the neck, even its sword was not spared from the onslaught as dents also appeared on the body of its sword. Until finally Alleria appeared in front of the ice warrior, about fifteen to twenty meters away to be exact.

The creature although badly beaten, still tried to make another attempt at Alleria's heart, but because of all the damage it had incurred, it was barely able to move an inch. Her assumption was correct, these creatures were probably being controlled by someone and were given the simple instruction to destroy any trespasser. This explains why its so eager to kill her and Niyol, it also explains its revival even after it was defeated by Niyol when she cant really feel any magical aura emanating from it. "Ok I have gathered enough data and I think you have gathered enough energy for your attack, you can finish it now. " High above the ice warrior, the blue haired rabbit girl appeared, its fist clenched into a ball, ready to deliver her killing blow. Usagi blazed on, like an asteroid falling down from the sky. Her punch landed directly on top of the warriors head causing the multiple cracks all over its body to spawn more cracks, cracks that looked like webs racing throughout its entire body, until finally its head flew off and its body exploding, sending ice shards flying in every direction. Aya who was just observing from a distance used her magic to shield Usagi and Alleria from the flying fragments least they were filled will poison as well. Alleria gave her two companions the thumbs up and was about to gloat over her victory when she was distracted by a huge explosion. It came from Niyol's direction, she was so caught up in her fight that she forgot that she was fighting alongside someone else. She was turned her head in search of is partner,  to come to his aide if needed but when she finally found him she was stunned. She then smiled wickedly as she thought to herself. "Well it seems someone had peered into the abyss and the abyss had returned its gaze."

"Hey... ummm... Y-you still in there?" Altsoba asked, not daring to get closer for fear of the worst. Niyol continued staring at the claw gauntlet covering his left arm, flexing the fingers while trying to gauge the power increase. "N-Niyol...?" She asked, forcing herself to get a bit closer. A pair of eyes, one of them pure crimson with several cracks in it where the whites of his eyes would fill in, however, the whites of his eyes were completely black. The other eye was purple as always, containing the same emptiness that they always did... the same dull, dead, empty looking eyes that everyone saw Niyol have. Altsoba, having seen the crimson eye stopped and took a step back, her eyes wide open from fear, trembling like a small child trapped in a corner as a famished beast stalks its way up to her to sate its hunger... "N-Niyol...?" she asked. "Stop being dramatic, you know it takes more to control me than a few million souls." the cold voice came out, just as apathetic as always.

Altsoba let out a sigh "Don't stay quiet for so damn long you spiritualistic fuck." she snapped with concerned tone. Niyol let out a sigh of his own, holding his non-gauntlet covered hand out, causing his scythe to lift from the ground and fly into it. "You think that'll be enough to deal with her?" Altsoba asked. "Miyuki has gotten stronger since we last met... To the point where her weakest summons are able to resurrect within minutes, I'd imagine that we're only getting a taste of her power and have yet to sample the full course." Niyol replied with an unnaturally calm voice, him not caring to admit to possibly being weaker than someone... then again, that seems to be Niyol's life. Scanning around, Niyol had spotted a fallen tree that wasn't covered in ice. He swung his scythe, sending a wave of spiritual energy so strong all the snow flew off it. "Lady Kusinagi, we should rest. Altsoba can take care of your arm, and I wish to tell you a story..." Niyol said with a calm voice while making his way to the log.

Niyol had used the edge of his blade to strip away some very thin strips of the wood, so thin that they would dry and ignite quickly. He also cleaved a few larger logs to keep the fire alive, setting them down far enough from the tree so the resulting flame won't hurt them, but not so far from it that the purpose would be defeated. He then placed his hand over the larger sticks, feeling the life energy and pulling it out slowly, sweat forming over his brow from how much effort it was taking to control this new power. The wood had withered, which in turn meant it was dry enough to ignite, and after a bit of woodwork a fire had started. Altsoba would sit on the tree and make eye contact with Alleria, patting the spot next to her to let her know she wanted her to sit there. If Alleria wouldn't, then Altsoba would go to her. While Niyol told them a story, Alleria would notice Altsoba forming a magic circle over her bite mark, as the story continued, she would notice the bite and the effect of it reversing.

Niyol had taken a seat some distance from the two of them, hunching over and closing his eyes while resting his arms on his legs, scythe leaning against the tree next to him. "Over ten thousand years ago, there were hundreds upon hundreds of different tribes that existed. Each tribe strong in their own area, some were good at crafting, others hunting, singing, fighting, assassinating, the list goes on... Each of them divided from their brothers and sisters, each tribe only attempting survival for themselves. But they all had one thing in common... each tribe had served a being of power. This being was an individual who showed love and compassion to all who came to her who were broken. Each man, woman, child, and beast treated as an empty vessel that she gladly filled with the knowledge of how to fill itself, but made sure not to just give them what they wanted. This being had no face, no name, no origin that any of the tribes knew of... this being had been known as 'The Mother' and while not a goddess, she was treated as such... Over two centuries had passed since the last tribe had formed itself, this tribe consisting of members of the others who were too weak, too stupid, deformed, or born to die. This tribe was hunted on by the others, any food produced stolen, any healthy children produced, stolen, any notable advancements in their primitive technology... stolen." Niyol said, his eyes narrowed at the last word.

"After years of damnation, the tribe of misfits had came to the mother... weaker than before, emaciated, on death's doorstep and pleaded with her for not power, but a safe place to call home. The mother instead taught them magic, giving them the power to fight, the knowledge of controlling the souls of their fallen comrades to heal the living, and enhance their bodies in ways the other tribes could never hope to accomplish through labor. The raids had stopped, and the tribe had grown strong, but never once attempted to get revenge... However, the other tribes had all grown wary of the new form of combat that was introduced, and almost all of them had decided to settle their differences and band together to either lay waste to the magical tribe, or steal away any child so they may share the gifts that child possessed whether they wanted to or not." Niyol had straightened up, though remained staring into the fire as the ghosts of his people's past had danced inside it. "Needless to say, the first major war between tribes had broke out. The first ten years were the death of more than half the tribes who existed, all of them using conventional tactics, but the magic users were growing weary of battle and lacked the same numbers the others had. For every one that fell, another twenty enemies replaced them. The women of the tribe had to adopt ice magic, using the raw power of the bitter cold to erect barriers to funnel their enemies into a single place before destroying them... but times evolved, and the other tribes sought help from the outlanders... they had arrived with technology, trebuches that lobbed explosives over those walls. With their home turned into a coffin, the tribe of magic users had little choice but to flee where they took refuge wherever they could, and were hunted to near extinction..."

Niyol grabbed a few small sticks and set them in the flame to keep it burning before continuing. "After some twenty or so years of running, the tribe had found themselves cornered by their enemy. Stuck inside a cave suffering from magic deficiency... Their saviors were eleven other tribes who'd banded together and swept across the other army, raining arrows and spears before a wave of melee combatants. They took in the weakened mages, the misfits they had once banished and treated their wounds, gave them food and drink, and asked for their guidance. After much negotiation, the leaders of the twelve tribes had formed a compact and all twelve tribes gathered before the mother and she gave them all the power to claim an aspect of this world. In the years that followed, the tribes trained with each other and mastered their gifts..." Niyol picked up a stick and began drawing symbols in the ground as he spoke. "Ice (snowflake), Fire (flame), Water (droplet), Air (squiggles), Earth was later named the Tribe of Sands (mountain), Mind (eye), Body (heart), Time (watch), Space (circle), Reality (square), Unreality which was later named 'Dreams' (square with a broken end), and Soul (question mark). These are the Twelve Tribes of Creation... it was these twelve tribes of magic users who swept across their homeland and wiped out all the others. Any tribe that showed aggression was removed from this world. Those that wished to be left alone were granted that solitude, those who wished to assimilate were given the magic of the tribe they joined." Niyol put the stick down and let out a sigh, the old tale bringing back memories both good and bad.

"Among these twelve tribes, their own hierarchies were made. Each tribe took up a role to play, some tribes devoting themselves entirely to combat, some to hunting, some to cooking, crafting, farming and so one. The Tribe of Souls acted as the peace keeper, the glue that bound the others to the mother's will and kept them from waging war. That is... until the tribe of Sands had threatened to take over the others, and were wiped out in yet another bloody war. The next time the balance was thrown off, I do not wish to speak of. Altsoba, are you done?" Niyol said while getting up. Altsoba nodded, showing that she'd reversed the time around the infection to undo the effects. "I couldn't restore the blood but I did get rid of the actual bite." "How useless..." "Well excuse the fuck out of me if the blood isn't in range of my-" "I was being sarcastic." "...oh, well then let's press on..." Niyol kicked some snow over the fire pit causing it to fizzle out.
