The slayer had sent a note to Ahote telling him to take the portal to his castle for him to test the boy and figure out if he was worthy to be trained by the slayer, should the young boy impress him enough Sol would take him under his wing and nurture the child into a fearsome warrior and a bringer of death to all his enemys.

Ahote awoke in his room, in one of the many in the corridors of The Basilisk Fang guild halls. It smelt of dust, and there were only a few stools that held his things. But he had figured that he would eventually grow accustomed to the aching scent of uncleanliness.
But it was time, and as Ahote slipped out of his sleeping clothes and into his commonplace ones, he ran to the entrance of the fort, soon to find the individual portal he had expected. It was certainly a sight, and a frightfully pleasant one at that. At first, he hesitated for walk forward, unsure what would happen so if one body part had slipped through it's gates. It was a natural first-reaction to any human being, fear holding them back with thin chains, whispering 'Don't'. But, with the childish puff of his chest, he proudly leapt into it's dark descent, soon arriving to the destination.
Within moments, Ahote walked out of the portal with eyes widened with shock and excitement, peering left, then peering right, appearing to be at the castle now. The training grounds, specifically. It was quite the barren field, but Ahote couldn't help but get a sense of nostalgia from it chilly features.
As he fully exited the portal and approached the open area on the ground, he had spotted Sol, who was the one who summoned him. "S-Sol!" He grinned, dipping his head in respect.

Though intimidated, Ahote did not falter. He felt as if these harsh blizzards had layered him with a thicker shell to fear and suffering. He didn't know what to exactly do at this point in his life, but he managed to make by with what little he had left. But as Ahote raised his head to level, gently taking glance of Sol as he directed him.
There were many things Ahote wanted to say in order to interrupt him, but realizing that sort of behavior was probably, most likely, distasteful to him. So he kept quiet. But Demons and Nasty Creatures? Just lurking about these castle grounds? Truthfully, Ahote would prefer if they had relocated themselves entirely, but could not muster up the will or courage to advocate that anxiousness.
But Sol stopped to nothing to get down to the point he was trying to emphasize. And frankly, these rules were rather specific. Especially the one about Fairy Tail, his birth guild. What was their relationship? Images of Kanix and Jaeger, his Father and Mother, had flashed in his mind, but Ahote just stood there silent. Ahote would not lie to himself. - He was afraid of the idea of getting hurt in this harsh process, and he was not sure if he were mentally prepared for such a trial. But he believed that physical and mental perseverance would triumph doubt. Ahote simply swallowed his aching spit and nodded. "Yes, Sol..." He spoke with a gentle breath.

But there was one problem, as far as he and everyone else knew, he did not have magic. Which was to be expected at this age, but he had no idea on what magic was in the first place, yet yearned for it in his wake and slumber, sometimes trying to mirror what other mages did to see if he output the same power. He smiled nervously, nodding slowly. "I don't think I can, Mister Sol... I've tried before, and nothing..." And this was true, on several occasions has this raven-haired boy had attempted to unlock his magic. Failed, every time.
At some point, he believed that he was just unfortunate and couldn't access a magick. The thought depressed him, but he didn't let it get to him until now. But after seeing what potential it had, it was practically a get-up-point. "But why must I know magic, Mister Sol?"

Accordingly, Ahote did have the capacity to use magic, it just needed a kick. How to retrieve a kick? Ahote couldn't figure that out if his life depended on it. But it was worth exploring. This did essentially excite Ahote, the fears that he would be unable to obtain such a magical force was mildly devastating to the young boy, more or less because he felt less than and indifferent. But he didn't tell anyone such information. - On that note, he couldn't tell what etherano was either. He just assumed it had something to do with magic, of which he could not particularly prove wrong.
"S-Sparring?..." Ahote tilted his head, coming to the conclusion that this green haired man was serious about fighting or assessing his skills. He didn't really ask for the right to call him Father nor to become his student, but he didn't necessarily question it either. But still, sparring? Ahote happened to be one of the most cowardly, cowering children you'd find in everyday situation. He hated fighting, but if that is what he must do in order...
"Okay..."

At first, the thought of calling him Father was rather a big transition for the boy, though only meeting his real Father once, never really being able to experience the relationship between a Father and Son, so warmingly, Ahote had slowly accepted it. It was just something by tradition, right? Or he had convinced himself.
"Oh, uhm.. okay! I can do this...!" He whispered to himself before getting a running start, thrusting a rather nervous fist to his chest, barely able to reach it with his eyes winced and his mouth morphed into a unpleasant, reluctant frown.

Ahote just laid there and winced, listening to his words in silence before he removed his foot, the young boy taking both arms and slowly lifting himself up from the ground, looking up to Sol and smiling weakly. "I'll do better this time, Sol!"
He stood to his feet against, smudges of dirt on his knees and palms from the fall, yet eyes burning with determination and childlike ambition. Just then, he lunged a somewhat faster, but unimpressive fist at him, closing his eyes and bracing for impact. "H--Hyaah!!"
As the young boy would throw a weak fist, he couldn't help but pick up the clear hatred Sol had for his Uncle Heero and birth Guild, Fairy Tail. Or perhaps what things Fairy Tail had told him about Basilisk Fang; all of the most infamous members thought to be amongst the Fangs now one of the most generous, caring and warm hearted people he had met. The thought was frustrating, and almost that irritated when Sol had said such ill things about Fairy Tail. But, rule number three...
I will make no mention of my home.

Regardless, Ahote had a childlike determination glowing in his reddish brown optics. The boy furrowed his brows and puffed out his chest in a silly attempt to appear tough and strong willed; only one of those traits is the one he bared so fiercely in his eyes. The young boy was still fragile, and abhorred violence over peace and compromise, and couldn't deliver a blow like one of a warrior genuine enough to please Sol, but he could try.
With that in mind, Ahote lunged fist after fist to Sol, completely afraid of what the outcome would be, but relieved that he could stand up again. Questions along the lines of "What if I displease him?" and "What if I fail?", they were simplest expressions of anxiety, but Ahote continued anyway. He wanted to meet this man's expectations.

But it was the incoming offensive take that Sol took when Ahote lunged his latest punch that the situation transitioned into a much more rough atmosphere. Swiftly, his superior's palm had struck his chest, causing him to feel stunned for the smallest of moments, but not small enough for Sol to follow up with a direct hit to the boy's gut.
Ahote gagged and stumbled back while holding his stomach, not familiar with being struck in such a sensitive area. But this only frustrated him further down the line. He furrowed his brows for the first time during the session, more out of anger and irritation than anything. His eyes lit up with passion to succeed in this obstacle but still withheld a childlike innocence and peaceloving demeanor.
This was probably the last of it that Ahote would take, he often did not get such a taste to hit someone, but this was merely because the frustration of failing had got to him. He felt his entire body pulse, but not sure with what. He ignored it, and proceed to unlock his arms from his stomach and frowned, standing back up, erect, and grumbled. "...Okay."
Ahote took a deep breath before charging at Sol once more, but something felt different... the pulsing continued to grow more intense, and it felt as if he was... looser. More in control of his body. It was probably nostalgia, but he couldn't help but bring attention to it. "Hyah!" Ahote grunted before throwing a punch with much more precision and force than the last time with his left arm. His punch was still rubbish and couldn't hurt any mage that knew a spell or two, but it was certainly an impressive improvement in little time.

However this time Sol was not gentle and just let the boy fall ,as he tripped him the slayer brought down his body weight and slammed the child into the hard earth back first with almost all the force he could muster.”your intent is impressive but your lacking in aggression now get up and do it again!” he said loudly as he hopped back a few feet and waited for the boy to once again stand up. If this persisted then Sol would be forced to resort to things he did not want to use.

Lacking aggression?... Do not hesitate?...
Is this the sacrifices you must make to defend yourself and others? Is this the backbreaking price he must pay to meet his expectations? Ahote bit his lip harder, and clenched his fist tighter. The moment he spent had passed in a gruesome, backbreaking fall to the hardened dirt and stone below him.
His mouth opened wide enough for a small amount of spit to escape, along with a grunt of pain. His cold and most likely bruised body laid there for a minute, saying nothing but simply glaring at the sky.
I am aggressive... and I don't hesitate... I can make Sol happy...
He thought to himself, before rolling onto his belly and raising himself to his hands and knees. A trail of saliva ran down his chin, and realized that he had bloody fingertips from scraping them during the fall.
Ahote turned his left hand over to it's palm, looking at the cuts and bloody scratches on them.
..I... I can be aggressive too... I'll show him.. I can be the most aggressive person here... I can make Sol and Famine proud...
Ahote clenched his fist, and slowly raised himself from the ground with a weak, hunched back, and letting his arms hang down. He didn't dare make eye contact with his superior with such fierce, frustrated eyes. But he felt the pulse grow stronger, and stronger...
"I..."
Suddenly, purple flames sparked and began to engulf his arm. The pulsing had intensified and he now felt a heat begin to swallow his arm, his head flinched and frowned back to Sol with determination and anger in his eyes. He realized that the two were no longer at point blank, but even so, Ahote swung his arm in that direction with no hope to hit. But in that very moment, the flames extended and propelled themselves towards Sol with no control whatsoever, much like a purple flamethrower from his left arm.
"....I can do it too!!"
Ahote yelled before silently accepting the turn of events, though not realizing what was going to happen.

So to keep Ahote focused on his task Famine remained out of sight during the session, unseen behind the screen of darkness lurking at the top of the grand steps in this castle. She sat at the top step, elbow to her thigh and her chin resting in her hand. Azure hues darted around the ballroom sized floor, chasing after Ahote’s every charge, dash, and fall. It had been hard not to reveal herself and to prevent her own magic from flaring at the rigorous training. Her hands knotted into fists countless times and a shadowy aura pulsated from her fingertips with every bruise and scrape Ahote withstood…
She wanted more than anything to call it off before he would get too hurt. --Though, the boy never gave up and she could tell this was something he truly desired, more than anything. With the way he clambered back up Famine couldn't help but feel he was a spitting image of doggedness and thus compare him to herself from her Fairy days… It was just like that and thanks to one single and small thought that the corner of her lip curved up. This was not her typical grin of malice and dark intent nor the false smirk she’d have to force Ahote on the occasion but a true small little smile. Soon-- would all change and that faintest glimmer of joy would be torn away from her yet again.
Just like that it happened, there was a sudden magenta light light which illuminated the room, and the all too fearsome ‘woosh’ of flames. Pride lit up Sol like the lights in a christmas tree… and too warmed her iced over core and heart. For now she watched him in his victory, and Ahote in his own achievement. Famine refused to even blink, as if fearing she may miss the slightest detail that moment.
An all too eerie realization struck inside her loudly and reverberated through her nerves like a Chinese gong leaving her body tense and frame rigid. This new magic quickly triggered something inside the woman’s psyche.
A shadow mage’s intuition never failed, and how much a time seer could foresee was incredible. Her instincts didn’t tell her much-- Only that this wouldn’t last, and the outcome from this event would be far greater than the piece of happiness it had brought. Now she saw more, heard more, felt more. A endless scream, an unexinguisable fire, a burning against her skin-- not just her flesh.
Almost falling over, She darted up from the step with a hand to her head while her other was outstretched.
“--Ahote!!! Sol!”
Ahote hadn’t just unleashed magic-- but a curse.

But that moment of peace and shock had quickly faded when his body was suddenly forced into the hard ground below and the cheering and praises of his alleged 'Father' figure had risen to full volume, and now realized that he had surpassed his expectations.
Not a smile nor a frown came upon Ahote's face, even when praised so heavily. He panted lightly as he was helped up, ignoring the orders Sol had enforced upon his minions and looked at his arm. He looked at his left palm and slowly began to narrow his eyes again. A heat had come into contact with him.
But it was at that moment that Famine, Ahote's adoptive Mother had joined the scene with a rather panicked expression on her face. Forgetting the heat he felt at that moment, Ahote let the nostalgia and adrenaline reign and raised the flaming arm to wave, "Mama! Mama, look! Look at my....!" His crimson eyes slowly crept back over to his arm as he caught glimpse of the most horrific sight he has seen, "...arm..."
Flakes of charred skin fell off of the same, proud trophy he held to prove that he too was a wizard. His eyes widened in horror, as the adrenaline and nostalgia faded in an instant and he felt his skin burn and char.
His crimson irises filled with pain, agony, and terror. Before his quickly opened his mouth and slammed his arm back to his chest to hug.
"GWAAAAAAH!!"

She thought to attempt to snuff the flames but the entity in her mind let her to assume it would be in vain: this was only the beginning of what she foresaw. All she could do was try and combat his pain with what solace she could supply in her own state of agony..
Famine bit hard into her lip and hefted the boy up and held him close just like she had the day she’d found him and decided to be merciful… She didn’t just squeeze him and hold his head out of the same pity she had felt carrying him home that day, but an unfathomable remorse for now, as though she knew what had already been lost-- Famine cursed herself for getting attached to the boy and for allowing this training to commence….and for being so vulnerable as to show real joy for a moment.
She already knew her own curse-- Everything jubilus to her seemed to be torn away in a moment.
“We are going back to the fort, Sol.” Her tone was as cold as the ice sleeting the grounds of Mt. Hakobe that instance, and she kept her back turned away from him as she held Ahote and hopelessly attempted to slow his screams. “...I need you to explain this, have a few of my mages go into the nearest city, raid the drug store and maybe kidnap a doctor dammit--” Her narrowed eyes glinted as if already wet and her lip quivered slightly. Looking at her one may put it in there mind that she was about to cry. Though the tears never came...and they wouldn't until later when her will was gone.
In an instance she and Ahote vanished, reappearing just in the doorway of the castle as the doors blew open. She teleported again across the soil and landscape of cursed, withered, trees and grey skies. Famine would use this power for all it was worth to get Ahote out of here and up the mountain. He needed to be home, where he was comfortable… and draining all her power to teleport back to back across these landscapes was more than worth that little bit of comfort she could provide to him in this peril.
