Find Those Puppies [Job/Solo]

Arriving in the town of Magnolia Brand was wearing his white suit with his black vest. He probably looked like a real tough mage with his jacket open. It was flapping behind him as he walked down the hill into town. The truth of it this was his second job and he was going to catch puppies. He chuckled to himself at the thought of his appearance. He was quickly walking to his destination ignoring all the distractions in town and heading straight for his job. Brand wanted to prove to Sabertooth he could be one of the most dedicated members they had. Magnolia was a busy place and he had a few jobs to do here but this was going to be the hardest of the jobs he had required. After walking threw town for a while trying to find the address of the puppy breeder he realized he was standing right in front of it. It was a funny looking house, the fence at the front of the house was painted like a Dalmatian and the front door had puppy ears. Everyone has to have their passion but seriously. Brand opened the gate and approached the house pausing before he knocked on the door.

A older calm looking gentleman answered the door. "Hello young one, are you the mage from Sabertooth who took my job? I am so happy you came. If you would have arrived a day later I don't know what I would do. I am going to be selling my puppies tomorrow but they ran away. My old brain forgot to close the fence and they all escaped and ran off into town. If I don't get the back by tonight it will be the first day in my career that I would have no puppies for my clients." He had said this while tearing up. Nodding Brand grabbed the paper with all the puppies names. They where going to be pretty easy to spot because all the puppies where black and white. He winked at the old man.

"Don't worry Sir I will find your puppies before you can finish lunch." Brand said as he ran out the door. So all he had to do was catch 7 puppies before 6pm. That should be easy enough he thought to himself. He ran into the streets to find the puppies.

Bailey, Charlie, Max, Buddy, Bella, Molly and Daisy. Those where the dogs names now only if he could find where they where. He had been wondering around aimlessly trying to find them with no success. After a few minutes a stall owner asked him if he would like a seashell. Over the man's shoulder he could see a small black and white puppy eating some food while some kids watched. He ran past the stall owner and then slowed down and slowly approached the kids and the puppy. "Hey sorry kids but I have to take this puppy back to it's home." One of the kids got up and picked up the puppy and handed it to Brand along with a leash made from a bunch of very soft fabric tied together. Rubbing the kids hair he jogged to return the dog to it's home before stopping and realizing the puppy could help. Brand looked at the puppy's collar "DAISY" was the name of this puppy. "Okay Daisy lets find your brothers and sisters." He said like he expected the puppy to understand him.

Daisy and Brand where walking all around town before he heard some whimpering coming from a small hole in a wall. Getting down on his hands and knees Brand could see nothing. He picked up Daisy and tucked her into his jacket then crawled into the hole making sure he did not hurt Daisy at all. Brand had let out a small scream as he fell a bit luckily he landed on his feet. He looked around the very dark tunnel he was in. He did not notice it at first but as soon as he sniffed he knew he was in the sewer. Brand lightly swore under his breath as if he was hiding it from Daisy. The puppy had poked her head out the top of his jacket. Daisy Barked and it echoed off the walls of the sewer. A small whining sound could be heard in the distance. Looking down at Daisy Brand sighed he really did not want to walk in the sewers but a job is a job and he had to get dirty at some point if he wanted to be known in Sabertooth. Lightly jogging down the sewer he could hardly see in. He was following the occasional whimper to try to find this puppy.

This was becoming quite the adventure for just saving some puppies. As Brand was jogging down the sewer he could see a small light coming out of what looked like a doorway. As he closed the distance between himself and this light he could clearly tell it was in fact a door. Slowing down as he approached it he opened the door and to his amazement he saw about 10 ugly cats cornering the poor puppy. The light caught the dogs collar and Brand could read the letters "M A X". Looking around the room quickly before running at the cats and jumping with all his might doing a front flip over them landing right in front of Max. "Okay Max I am going to get you out of here okay!" he said to the puppy. Max seemed to be happy and responded with a small bark. Brand picked him up and put him in the other side of his jacket. Behind him he heard the cats move toward him. Brand quickly turned around as he side stepped the first cat.

A lot was going through Brand's mind as he side stepped the cat. He had to make it out of here with out getting touched by the cats in fear of getting some disease. His mind came back into focus right as the second cat jumped at him. This time Brand just ran at the wall jumping a bit before placing his feet against it. He pushed hard and propelled himself over the cats. He landed on his feet but slid out the door and almost right into the sewer water. Balancing himself he looked back to see the cats scurrying across the floor toward him. He turned and ran down the sewer the opposite way he came. Before long he realized he was going the wrong way. Not able to turn back now he leaped across the sewer and landed on the other side. Behind him he heard some cats fall into the water but some actually mad the jump as well. He ran for a few more minutes before he saw the tunnel open up. Picking up speed Brand ran for the opening.

Brand sighed in relief, he was finally out of the sewers and walking back into town. The sewer had led him all the way out of town. He lightly jogged to the dog breeder's house and returned Daisy and Max. "Two down only five more to go." he said to himself as he walked out of the breeder's house. This time the breeder gave him some dog food to help Brand a bit more. Brand asked around and finally some heard about a store owner who was taking care of a puppy and trying to find it's owner. Arriving at the store Brand looked around the store waiting for the owner to come talk to him. There where some nice rugs at this store. Brand wanted to get one but he did not even have the money or time to buy it. Maybe he would come back and buy one when he was richer.

After the store owner walked out they had a quick chat about his rugs. Then he handed Brand the puppy. "I hope you can get Buddy home safe and sound." the store owner said as he waved Brand good bye. Brand winked and waved back then put buddy in his jacket and continued looking and asking around town. During his walks he heard a rumor that there was a puppy that was living on the roofs of some houses near the center of town. As he walked toward the center of town her heard the locals talking about mages and stories about everything that has been happening as of late. He heard parts of stories about powerful mages and recognized some of the names mentioned as his guild mates. This made him smile, he was now part of a magical guild and people would be telling his stories soon enough. "One day buddy I will be what people talk about the name people say when they talk about powerful mages. That will be me soon so make sure who ever buys you pays attention ok?" he said to the puppy smiling. To his surprise buddy barked back and licked Brand's chin. Laughing Brand continued toward the center of town.

Arriving at what looked like the center of town he looked around and saw a few stall vendors but no clear way up onto the roofs. He went to the first stall vendor and asked him about the puppy. The vendor was selling me and was very upset with the puppy. It would hop off the roof then steal meat then jump onto the roof of his stall and then onto the roofs or the surrounding houses. Brand was actually surprised the puppy could jump so high. "Sir may I climb up there using your stall?" he asked the vendor politely. The vendor just nodded and waved him up. Brand was quickly on the roofs of the houses. Even with a puppy in his jacket he was good at climbing. Standing on the roof he had just climbed and looked around he could see the whole town from here.

Brand continued looking around for a moment enjoying the view . He saw what looked like a garden on someones roof and decided to start there. Jumping from roof to roof people probably where thinking the weirdest things. As he got closer to the garden Buddy started barking. Brand came to a stop to look the direction that Buddy was barking. He looked over and saw a puppy jump onto the roof behind him. It's collar was fully visible "MOLLY" is what the tag spelled. Molly looked at Brand surprised and turned ran across the roofs. Brand decided to give chase and ran after Molly after almost an entire block of houses the houses ended. The puppy was looking back at Brand with a worried look. Brand stopped running and walked toward Molly slowly. Buddy barked at Molly and molly paused then happily walked over to Brand. He fed her some food before picking her up as well. "You where a tough one to catch." Brand said to the puppy before jumping off the roof and walking back toward the breeders house.

Arriving at the breeders house Brand placed the puppies in the yard as the breeder was outside. He just waved at the breeder and ran off. Brand had learned a lot today he did not want to be the strongest mage or the best. He wanted to help there was something so much more satisfying about it. After he completed this job it would be his second job and the second one where he had helped someone. He decided that he would train his hardest so he could protect and fight for people who couldn't. While Brand was running he basically tripped over a running puppy. Regaining his balance and his thoughts he chased after the puppy. The group of kids he saw earlier cut him off and two of the young boys chased the puppy as the other 3 blocked him. "Umm mister we heard that you are a mage." said one of the boys. He was wearing a black bomber jacket with a lightning bolt on it.

"Well yes I am kiddo but as much as I would love to chat I need to get that puppy." Brand said quickly.

"Our friends will get it for you don't worry." The same boy replied before hugging brand. "Thank you" he whispered before the other boys came with the puppy and handed it to Brand. They all waved him good bye after they had a quick talk. Brand waved back as her ran off to find the last two puppies.

After looking around town for a while there was no sign of the other two dogs. Remembering he did not check this dogs name Brand looked down. The puppy's tag read "BELLA". He had caught all the females now. Brand just needed to find Bailey and Charlie. Continuing to look around he was having no luck until he heard about a puppy being trapped under fallen wall of an old building near the train station. Brand was sprinting so fast that any normal person would look in assessment. He may not be a speed mage but he was a lightning one. Arriving at the train station in only a minute or two he quickly looked around and saw a bunch of old building. When he got there, there was a group of people trying to lift a wall. There was a small almost silent whimper from under the wall. Brand walked up to the wall and asked people to stand aside. Lifting with all his might he was able to lift the wall enough for a person to quickly crawl under. After the man crawled back out with the puppy Brand let go of the wall and it fell to the ground again. The small group applauded as the man handed Brand the puppy.

Holding up the puppy as the people applauded Brand was feeling good. He was almost done this job. After the applauding was done he looked at the puppy and that was not even a scratch on him. The puppy's tag read "BAILEY". So there was only Charlie left. After talking with the group for a bit Brand realized that the sun was starting to set. It was starting to get close to his deadline. Brand gave everyone a farewell and told them to call Sabertooth if they need anything. He was now going to have to return these two puppies so he could hold the next one. Brand started jogging back to the breeders on the way he noticed other mages doing jobs but did not have the time to stop and say hello or check if they where part of his guild. This small job of finding puppies had become a small adventure he was in the sewers, jumping across rooftops and even lifting parts of old buildings. Brand chuckled what was he getting himself into. He knew that every job from now on would always bring adventure and surprises.

After taking the two puppies home Brand went out to try to find the last puppy on the list. How was he suppose to find 1 puppy in a town this big? As soon as he made it a little farther into town he started asking around about the puppy and only really heard the same old rumors. Wondering around town there was no signs of the last puppy. After what seemed like forever he saw something small darting through the crowd. Brand gave chase trying to see what it was. He reached a small park with a couple trees and saw the smallest puppy he has ever seen it was the size of a small kitten. It was tiny and it was shaking probably because it was cold or hungry. Brand slowly approached the puppy. When it saw Brand it hid behind a tree. Brand decided to sit down and put out some food and wait for the dog. Slowly but surly the puppy came over. Brand slowly held out his hand then petted the puppy gently. "Hello Charlie." Brand said softly before picking him up. Charlie licked Brand's chin happily then fell asleep in his arms. Brand laughed a little bit as he put charlie in his jacket to stay warm. He sighed in relief knowing he had finished his job. Brand started walking home making sure to not wake up Charlie.

Arriving back at the breeders house Brand gave the old man his last puppy. After a couple thank yous and a nice tea it was time for Brand to head out. On the way out all the puppies met you at the door and he squatted down to say bye to all of them. Charlie was the last puppy to walk over. Brand picked him up let the puppy lick his face. After he put the puppy down he walked out the door and out to find a place to sleep for the night. He had 2 more jobs in town before he was to leave. He had just completed his second job at this rate his guild would surely recognize him. If he continued at this rate it would only be a little while until he could try out to be a C class mage. After finding a place to stay he fell on his bed but was unable to sleep. He was still to excited from finishing his job.
