Yet Another Encounter(Social/Despair)

DON'T TRUST ANYONE

Yuzuki yawned loudly as she dragged her feet down the street, barely noticing the stones below, changing their colors to match her steps and her mood. At the moment, they glowed a dark shade of gray, which just goes to show that, well, Yuzuki Faerydae was not in a bad mood. Though people all around her chartered cheerily, brightly colored stones all around her own trail of dark ones, the semi-fey was exhausted and rather disappointed.

"I knew I shouldn't have waited that long..." she grumbled. The growling of her stomach didn't do much to reassure her. She had tried to rob a restaurant she'd had her eye on for a while, relishing the challenge of magical security and the smell of the pastries in the window. Of course, having hesitated just a second too long... She gingerly touched a bruise left over from the beating she had received with the owner's broom. That had been one tough old lady.

As she reached the alleyway she had found for tonight's stay, she reached into a deep crack in the wall, and tugged out a few shriveled berries found a few days ago. They would have to do, she could always steal a bite to eat later at night, when all the men were drunk and falling asleep. For now, she just stared up at the sky, growing darker and darker, letting the moon and stars take their place. If one watched carefully, they could notice the thin strands of moonlight spinning themselves down into Yuzuki, causing her to radiate a soft glow.

As Yuzuki chewed thoughtfully on a dried berry, gazing up at the moon, something caught her attention out oh the corner of her eye. Her senses were suddenly all on alert, and she could feel a fairly powerful mage's presence nearby. She stiffened, and her chewing stopped. Her breath quickened as her hand slowly reached down to rest on Katsuki, her fingers shaking. She cut off her power connection from the moon, the threads disappearing. Who was it? An enemy? Some passerby?

Then, the footsteps turned to walk down the alleyway, and Yuzuki's fear spiked into something almost feral. Who was this? What were they doing here? She was barely quivering, her body was so wound up. If she jumped now, she should be able to reach the rooftop with help of her wings... She frowned when she realized the figure was shorter than expected, a girl only a few inches taller than her. The voice, rather high-pitched, very girly. Actions were all rather innocent, really, but Yuzuki knew from experience that your eyes could not be trusted.

She shuffled back a few steps, standing up by now, a feral look in her silver eyes. She spoke like she was some snobby, trying-to-act-nice sort of girl, the type who did things only for attention. Did she think Yuzuki was some sort of masochist or whatnot? It seemed as if she hadn't encountered much hardship before, really. At any rate, it seemgd that she was younger than Yuzuki by many years, maybe even half her age. The semi-fey was older than she looked, not one to be judged by appearance either.

As the girl held out the bread, Yuzuki blinked at it, twice, then backed away. "As if I'd take that," she said quietly, still inching backwards. If it was a legal mage, she didn't want to be captured. Dark mage? Well, they weren't very predictable. Some could be nice, some were just plain evil. Neither was really good. "Haven't your parents ever taught you not to take food from strangers?" she snapped, glaring up now, back to just a girl in a really bad mood. "What if these berries were reeeeally tasty? You never know what flavor can gather under a rock over a few years, ya know." A slow grin spread across her face, the moonlight making her lapse into a trickster personality.

HEIR TO THE THRONE OF YOUR ORIGINAL SIN

Jade blinked a little as she held out the bread "I mean, you don't have to take it but... huh... I would think fresh baked bread would taste better than  wall berries..." she had a sweet and innocent tone as she had curious eyes. She stood up and walked over to the girl holding her hand out "My name is Jade~" she closed her eyes and tilted her head sweetly. "Now that we aren't strangers..." she said as she tore off a piece of bread and ate it "And now that we now the bread isn't tainted..." she held out the bread and waited for the girl to take it.

After a while she walked over to the wall and pulled out a berry, popping it into her mouth, chewed it, and swallowed it. She closed her eyes and started to cough "Yup defiantly better than Wall berries..." she muttered to herself. She regained her composure and stood in front of the girl with her arms in front of her, hands locked with each other. She rocked back and forth on her feet and bit her lip "Sooooo what are you doing in an ally in this time of night?" she looked at the girl with curious eyes. She would not give up her disguise just yet seeing as she wanted to see how long it would take for the girl to realize who she was.

Yuzuki raised an eyebrow at the girl, saying, "Each to their own taste." She scowled at the tone of the girl's voice, feeling as if about to gag on how overly sweet and innocent it was. Ruining her whole night like this... Ugh, what sort of crazy terrible luck did she have? Meeting all sorts of annoying people at times like these. She then watched warily as the girl grinned, introducing herself as Jade and extending a hand. Yuzuki ignored it, watching as she took a hunk of bread to eat, then offered it to Yuzuki again. The semi-fey could hear her stomach growling, but still knew better than to take it. "Of course we're still strangers," Yuzuki grumbled, eyebrow twitching, "We met what, ten seconds ago? Jeez."

However, a faint grin could be seen on Yuzuki's face at the girl's expression after eating the berry. Yuzuki popped a few more into her mouth, saying, "Mm, good stuff. Plenty of protein from all the bugs probably living inside these things~" she dropped the line casually, slightly curious as to what Jade's response would be. Quite honestly, it didn't matter who Jade was. Yuzuki would likely treat her just the same either way. She didn't trust anybody, and therefore would treat everyone the same. Though she had grown good at hiding it, she was shivering and quivering, her muscles tense and her heartbeat racing.

"I," she said in an almost proud tone, "am getting ready for bed, cuz, ya know, couldn't you tell this is a popular sleeping place?" This girl evidently didn't spend much time on the streets, either, since the usual gang kids, pickpockets, beggars, average Street rats would all be able to recognize which alleyways were good spots and which were not-so-good.
