Pew! Pew! Pew! BOOM! [mission/Sasha]

A young girl passed through the impeccably clean and beautiful streets of Crocus, a bounce in her step and a softly disjointed tune on her lips. It was apparent that the girl was in an excellent mood – judging by the way she was skipping and twirling as she weaved through the thinning crowds. Her long and silky lilac hair was left unbound to flow around her with every step she took.

She would have made a lovely picture to gaze at – if it weren’t for the fact that she was dressed in all the chaotic colors of a flashback from an acid trip.

The short dress she wore was brilliant neon orange in color with little dynamite patterns all over it, clashing horribly with the bubblegum pink polka dotted green leggings she wore. Electric blue bracelets adorned both of her wrists and shiny red boots completed the ensemble. Valerie passed through on her way, merrily humming to herself and uncaring of the retinas she burned. Anyone who truly knew her would realize that the girl was secretly amused with all the strange and often annoyed looks she was getting, though she appeared oblivious. As far as she was concerned it was a happy, happy day and she needed to look the part.

Sasha had contacted her about a job the two of them could do together. Once the words ‘demolition expert’ were out of the older girl’s mouth, Valerie had stopped paying attention to the rest of the conversation and agreed to it. Visions of glorious explosions swam in her head, making her look forward to the job. She usually hated taking on jobs because they were all so terribly dull. It seemed that she’d finally gotten something fun to do.

Valerie smiled to herself in anticipation and checked the signpost to make sure she was at the right place. Her aunt would show up soon, hopefully. Sasha would never stand her up.

Sasha's legged lightly kicked back and forth against the light breeze that had passed by the former Rune Knights body. She enjoyed the idea of trying plenty of new things, and after her recent shopping adventure she was free to try and explore all the options she had and enjoy the very of it all. Not that she had gone out of her way to be over the top or go the usual route, a bit of a middle ground was needed to be for this. After all, she was seeing someone special to her so she had to be sure to do so just for her. More so to the fact that she had set this up with her little niece in the first place and putting aside the idea that they were going to be on a mission, it had been quite a while since she had done any form of family bonding with her, so it would be nice to look presentable for her.

She continued to wait for her lilac haired partner to show up.. or well stick out like a neon sign saying "HERE I AM!~". Sasha herself wore a royal blue colored sun dress with no hint of a design on it at all, a pair of flats on her feet and leaving her legs bare to the wind, which on a day like today felt rather amazing. Her raven black hair had been done back in a braid that began from about the top of her head and led down near the bottom, tied off with a hair tie just as dark as the hue of her locks. She twiddled her morpher strapped to her wrist and had become used to the fact that the object would never be able to be removed unless a day would come where said object could be removable for some time or another.

Her eyes trailed the crowd until the heads began to turn in one single area and people going by began to make whispers about it. The former Knight looked curiously towards it until she seen the leggings and immediately giggled softly to herself. Lil' Vale never learned her lesson~ She was the type of girl who enjoyed odd attention and comments like it was meant to be a drug.. or she just like to mentally confuse people. Sasha shot up and entered the crowd, knowing that her look wouldn't be recognized by Valerie at all, she snuck around her and reached around, landing both open palms on her chest and giving a little playful squeeze while her head laid on her left shoulder like she always had done. "Well well~ If it isn't my favorite lil' sis! err.. Niece. Same shit!" She playfully laughed it off and looked down the front of Vale's body and sighed lightly. "Maybe I should have worn the bunny suit today. We would have looked like the odd couple out. However, that's what I got my magic for. Besides, I wanted to look cute for ya!" She gave another soft squeeze as she spoke, ignoring the attention she had on her for a second before removing her hands, if Valerie hadn't already done so. "Aaaaaaanywaaaay~ Are ya ready for some EXPLOSIVE fun!?" Her voice became chipper, or more than it already had been, hanging off of Vale until she had answered or removed Sasha from her on her own.

Where is she?

Valerie scanned the area for a familiar face, frowning a little when her search resulted in nothing. Her aunt was the type of girl who stood out – not like Valerie did – but in a good way, as she was classically beautiful with her raven hair and curvy figure. That and she didn’t dress herself up in wacky clothes unlike her niece. She was content to wait a bit more, having decided that Sasha had gotten caught up in traffic when suddenly, she felt someone reach out from behind and start groping her chest. Letting out an involuntary noise of surprise, Valerie was about to elbow the person in the neck hard enough to make them see stars permanently when her aunt’s familiar, teasing voice spoke up.

“Geez, Sasha. I thought you were some perverted old man or something.”

Sounding a bit like a pouting child, Valerie gently pulled away Sasha’s hands but made no move to step aside. While she might not have looked it, Sasha had her own quirks too. Perhaps it was a family thing. Done with her little sulk, Valerie wasted no time in turning around and giving the older girl a quick hug. It had been some time since they had last seen each other.

“I’m always ready for explosive fun!”

Valerie gestured to the little designs of dynamite patterned over her dress and beamed at Sasha. She was in an excellent mood now. Getting to do two of her favorite things in the world – hanging out with Sasha and making things explode - was bound to lighten up anyone’s mood. She looped her arm with her aunt’s.

“Lead the way ~”

Sasha grinned like a little child hearing her victim of a niece squeak of surprise from her chest being groped and felt by the raven haired girl. While she patiently dealt with how Valerie had come to take finding out that Sasha had been the one to do it, she peeked over and the long lilac colored hair in her face and ran her fingers through it after her hands were removed from her chest. "So pretty today~" She muttered, leaning off her a little and fiddling with the locks of hair in her hands for a moment. "Oh don't be silly~ A perverted old man would have taken you into an alley nearby and done more than grope ya. Then again, you'd empty a clip into their nuts by the time you reached the inside, so it's all good I guess, hehe." She joked, though knowing Vale like she did, it would most likely be her choice of method.

The former Knight had come to blush a bit as she was hugged, but more so highly overjoyed just to be around her favorite family member after such a long period of time. She looked down as the girl had pointed to the shirt she wore and the dynamite stick design on the front of it, which had made Sasha sigh and shake her head. "What am I gonna do with you~ My sister was such a failure, but ya know what? It's hypocrital of someone who favors bunny outfits to the point her armory consists of magical ones to comment on this, but I love the clllaassshhing blllennnd of colors and patterns you have." She noted, trying to keep from making a joke about the mixture of designs, but just in the way she spoke would prove to probably be otherwise.

Looking down, Vale had come to link her arm in with Sasha's and wanted her to lead the way. She blinked and didn't say anything, wondering if she had come to realize that she wasn't there to MAKE them, they were there to STOP them, but she would understand in due time regardless. "Uh.. If you say so." She began to lightly pull on her lilac haired niece and let out a little yawn before looking over to her. "We need to hang out more often, girl. Not over something like this- though it is nice. I mean to just hang out, go shopping, get our hair done, or whatever. Ice cream, bunny petting.. I don't know. Either way, I miss ya and wanna hang out with mah baby sis again like the old days!" She pulled Valerie close, giggling happily as she walked towards their destination, enjoying the time like it would be the last time she would see her.

“Yeah I would have riddled them with enough holes to be considered Swiss cheese before they managed to drag me anywhere.”

Valerie nodded in agreement, saying it as calmly and matter of fact like as if she had been commenting on the weather. Sasha was the only person who’d get away with it – and she knew it. The seemingly delicate lilac haired girl was far too fond of shooting problems instead of solving them. It was more fun that way.

She took the comments about her tastes when it came to clothing in stride. They were supposed to be weird and often ridiculous. That was the entire point. It was usually supposed to get people to stare at her in shock and make all kinds of interesting comments. Those comments actually said a lot more about them than it did her. Her aunt’s bunny girl outfits while a step above the norm, weren’t weird. They would be classed as sexy. Sex appeal. Valerie wrinkled her nose at the thing. It opened up ways to a whole different kind of weird. The kind that ended with her shooting them. That part she didn’t mind at all.

“We do need to hang out like we used to. But lately you’ve always been so busy with the Runies.”

Joining the Rune Knights had of course placed a lot of responsibilities on her aunt’s shoulders. Valerie wasn’t at all fond of such a stiff and ‘proper’ group. They seemed like they would leech the fun out of the whole world if they could manage such a feat. Still, it had been Sasha’s choice and she had tried to hold her opinions to herself. Tried being the keyword there.

“Oh! We should go to the petting zoo sometime. I missed some of them on my last time there.”

By missed, she meant she had had to run before she could finish putting hats and colors on all of them. Animals were a lot more difficult to ‘artistify’ than plants. They wriggled and moved around too much.

“Is it still much further away? When do we get to blow stuff up?”

Sasha couldn't help but let out a loud laugh at reply she was given to add onto her own probable way that she would take the situation she had given in a hypothetical manner, but her way of thinking things like that hadn't changed since the last.. several times they had hung out and spent some time together. Her next reply had come to be a bit of a sadder one, though her tone hadn't reflected it, Sasha had come to note the fact of when she had been a little different around certain topics and what not when she was around her, and nodded at it before she smiled. "Well.. If you'd feel better knowing, I'm not a 'runie' anymore. I left not too long ago to uh.." She paused and sighed lightly and tightened her grip a little on Vale's arm. "W-Well the reason isn't important. I just needed some time to myself and for now, I belong to only myself~"

When Vale had come to mention possibly going to a petting zoo after this was over, or some time later had been a very good idea. She frowned a little when she learned that she wasn't able to see all the animals the last time they had been at the petting zoo, but the idea was overwhelming when Sasha had thought about it. "Oh my god yes! I wanna snuggle all the bunnies and feed them all carrots~ It'll be like the farm all over again!" She started getting all giddy and jumpy, almost like she was struck with nostalgia that had been compeltely overwhelming and joyous. "We'll go the day after tomorrow! I wanna get a day to rest from this, then we'll go! Sound fun?" She offered, finally stopping at the entrance to the building where they were headed, smiling. "And yes, we're here. Let's open the door and see what happens!" She then pushed the door open, unknown of what would happen once it opened and the pair could see inside.

Surprise colored Valerie’s features, her amethyst eyes widening ever so slightly as she turned her head sharply to look at her aunt. Sasha had quit the Runies? That was highly unexpected. Questions bubbled over in her mind like a cauldron full of boiling water, some of it slipping through her lips before she thought better of it.

“What di-“  

The forced her mouth close with an inaudible click and swallowed what she had been about to say. Sasha didn’t look like she wanted to talk about it just then and she didn’t want to cause her aunt any undue stress. Inside though, she was dying of curiosity. What could possibly have happened to get Sasha to leave them? Valerie’s overactive imagination wondered if it was a conspiracy that her aunt had only barely managed to escape. She could envision the two of them battling some power crazed old man with a long beard and those stuffy Council clothes when he came to finish Sasha off. With some trouble, the girl managed to force her attention back to the present.

“I guess that means we have more time together~”

She sang cheerfully, giving Sasha’s arm a little squeeze. There were so many fun things they could do together. Valerie was determined to cheer Sasha up no matter what it took. She smiled as her aunt went on excitedly about bunnies and cute animals. The older girl had always loved animals.

“Yess! And we can get icecream afterwards. I’m going to treat you to all the icecream in the world. It’ll be great.”

They had arrived at the location specified while Valerie had been distracted by the conversation. It seemed to be an abandoned mine shaft, with no one around. So they were here to blow up a mine. She had never done that before. It seemed like it could be excellent fun. She peered inside, trying to see past the gloom once Sasha pushed the door open with an ominous creak. It was too dark to see much.

“Time for some fun!”

Without further warning, Valerie activated her magic and was instantly replaced by her Sentinel. Its armor immediately darkened to match the dim light of the tunnel, turning itself into an intimidating silhouette. Valerie looked around the spacious tunnel, her vision far better than a human’s with the keen detection of her ReQuip. It seemed to be a perfectly normal mine at the surface, but she could see the multitude of carefully arranged mines lurking beneath the ground further inside.

“Oooooh minefield!” The voice was synthetic, but the tone was clearly Valerie’s.

That was probably not what most people’s reactions would be to seeing a minefield to which there was no way around. Unfortunately, she was not most people. Another scan through the area confirmed that there was indeed no way around the mines that had been arranged in a circular field. The tunnel seemed to be built sturdily enough that it would not cause the entire mine to collapse if the mines were set off. Motioning for Sasha to stay back, Valerie picked up a loose stone near the entrance and immediately hurled it toward the field of mines. It didn’t land on them – but apparently it was close enough. The mines all exploded simultaneously, surprisingly contained to the area they had been planted in. Valerie and Sasha were well out of the blast zone as they hadn’t yet gone inside the mine.

Once the dust had cleared, she could see a rather large, neat hole of about 15 meters in radius where the mines had been. She walked inside until she was exactly 5 meters away from it, close enough to see down it but not close enough to fall inside.

“I made a shortcut. What else do you think is down there? More explosives?”

Vale seemed like she hadn't really been in the wanting mood to continue anything along the topic of why Sasha had left the Knights. She was thankful that she respected leaving the topic of her leaving them alone for the time being. Normally, she probably would have told her what it was that she had been thinking of lately, but Sasha had always tried to be a positive role model for Valerie.. Well since her own sister was a hell a lousy one. No matter how often she brought it up, she didn't like the idea of her being neglectful and ignoring her only daughter, but there wasn't much that Sasha could really say otherwise to change that. No matter how many times they had argued privately, she had never gotten anywhere with her pig headed sister and it seemed like that would not change at all either.

As the two entered the mine shaft, Vale took a little lead ahead, forming armor from her own requip magic to go on ahead. Sasha began to reflect in her mind for a moment, finding herself distracted with her thoughts and reliving her actions of leaving the Rune Knights so abruptly. Was it really the right thing to do? Could she had have had a better chance had she have talked to someone? Maybe. The raven haired girl looked up as the synthetic voice had spoken up through the cavern like path they were in before an explosion had made her scream out a yelp in surprise of it going off. She blinked, starring at it in complete confusion of what had just happened when the smoke had cleared and left a large hole in the ground. "Wasn't there an easier way to do that!?" She questioned.

Looking ahead, a shadowed figure had starting coming towards them. She could hear noises and grunts as whatever this thing was had continued along until it had become clear to here. Some strange, creepy looking person with sticks of dynamite strapped to it's chest had come running toward Vale. Gritting her teeth, she wouldn't risk a chance of having Vale hurt at all, not if Sasha could help it. "Alright then! It's morphin' time!" She shouted, Her body glowing with a black light for a moment as her body had fully become enveloped in it and transforming into an almost completely alternative look and a large, long sword in her hand, Sasha darted out in front and swung at the creepy thing running toward the pair before a switch in his hand was held up. In a reaction, Sasha placed her sword in front of her and an explosion rang out, killing him instantly it seemed with the explosion being eaten up by her weapon.

Sliding to a halt, Sasha let out a breathe of relief and huffed. "We need to get out of here! If we stay any longer more people will come after us. That was too close. Next one could cave us in." She motioned for Vale to follow, knowing at this point she would possibly take things seriously at this point and ran along until she reached a clearing. "Ready for another round of fighting, kiddo?"

"Probably. But it wouldn't have been much fun."

As expected, Sasha took care of the little dynamite monster that had popped up out of the hole. It didn't seem to possess much tactical knowledge other than to run screaming at the two girls. The spatial energy from Sasha's ginormous monster of a weapon had successfully consumed the resulting explosions when the dynamite sticks taped to the monster had gone off with it's suicidal death. The two girls were left completely unharmed.

"Nicely done. We should hurry up and blow this place to bits then! Before any more of those weird little monsters show up."

Valerie followed her aunt deeper into the darkness of the abandoned mine, her now longer legs eating up the distance with no trouble at all. Perhaps they were going inside to find an access point to easily blow up the entire mine. That would make sense, after all. She wasn't worried about not getting out in time. If worse came to worst, she had a spell ready to get her out of harm's way. However, she wasn't sure if Sasha had such a way and that worried her. For her aunt's sake, Valerie decided to be extra careful so that it wouldn't come to such a dire situation.

Just then, a small shadow darting swiftly on the cavern's floor caught her attention. Valerie instantly called out a gun, the Sentinel's left arm morphing along with it to suit the new weapon that had just materialized. The micro sensors which served as the Sentinel's eyes and ears let her pick out the fact that it was an odd little spider before it could creep up on her. The little critter would have gone unnoticed by someone without an enhanced detection ability and most probably managed to sneak up on them - especially in the dark tunnels of the mine. Before it could come within 10 meters of the girls, Valerie shot off a bullet, landing it dead center in the mass of eyes the creature possessed. With a dying shriek, the creature curled in on itself and lay motionless.

They seemed to be running into some really weird creatures ever since they had stepped into the mine, Valerie came to realize. The one thing they all had in common was that they somehow all ended up with explosives of some kind. Going by that logic, it wasn't hard to deduce that the spider would have exploded as well once it was close enough. Was this why this job required them to blow up the mine? An upsetting realization was beginning to dawn on her.

"We're not here to blow up the mine are we."

The synthetic voice sounded upset. Valerie hadn't turned around to look at her aunt while asking the question. In a place full of exploding monsters, it was best to keep her attention on the surroundings regardless of how upset she was.

'Monster Dice' :

Sasha sighed at the reply that Vale gave her. Shaking her head on top of it, she wasn't necessarily sure that she had come to give the RIGHT answer, but it was something that she was sure she would be a somewhat expected answer of her. In some cases, Valerie was a very predictable person, and other times Sasha could be just as surprised as the next person would be to hear her responses. "Sometimes I worry about you, girl... Sometimes..." She replied, not much more into the idea of what she had really wanted to go with, but there wasn't much more she could do in time before the suicide bombing person had come to try and... explode himself in front of Sasha and probably take her with him, but the idea he had come to do was a little less than smart to be truthful. Though her reaction was purely instinctual, none the less it was really nothing but luck she had blocked herself from taking any bit of damage.

Sasha nodded as Vale had mentioned pressing on. Like she had said, staying here any longer could prove to be dangerous, but the mention of blowing the place up was the reason they were here... to PREVENT it from- Aaaand then it hit her. She knew she had to word things in a special way for Vale, otherwise she wouldn't pay attention to anything that she didn't already tunnel into. However, she must have been under the presumption that she had to blow up th building, rather than to stop it from happening. "No no. We aren't here to blow it up. Like I told you prior to this, we're here to SAVE it from being blown up, Valerie. We also must try to keep him alive if possible." Sasha's voice had sounded slightly deeper, more mature sounding in her morphed stage, similar to the way Vale's voice had come off as synthetic and different.

The former Knight would then begin to head toward the direction they had originally been traveling in, they came to a clearing in the place, most likely the centerfold area that they were planning to blow up. stopping for a moment, Sasha let out a sigh as nothing had been in this large area but the two girls, resting her large weapon on her left shoulder and facing Vale. "So in your opinion kiddo, do you like this little transformation of mine? It's still a little new to me too, but it's quite fun to say the least." She asked, just curious of what Vale would think of it. She may be random, but Sasha always loved to hear her feedback of things.

Valerie's steps grew considerably slower, almost to a sad shuffle and lacking in their previous excitement. Her aunt's confirmation of her fears had tossed her jubilant mood over a cliff. She sighed audibly, the action made more comical as her imposing ReQuip now had its tall frame slumped to further paint the picture of sadness. If the Sentinel had had any sort of facial features, it would have appeared to be pouting. But it possessed no such qualities. She glumly listened as Sasha went on to explain the true purpose of their mission. Not only were they supposed save the mine from being blown up, but they had to take in some lunatic - alive - too.

"Can I shoot him a little bit, at least? Maybe his foot."

The two girls ended up in a large and spacious cavern, with Sasha taking the lead. There didn't appear to be any monsters in the immediate vicinity, which Valerie was able to confirm after a quick look around. Though there wasn't any way for sunlight to reach through down into the cavern, it was by no means as dark as the tunnels had been. She had to admit that it was actually quite beautiful in a strange way. Luminescent crystal formations in odd and jagged shapes dotted the area, making the otherwise dull and uninteresting environment stand out.

"What do you suppose these crystals are? I'm going to take one home. Do you want one?"

Without waiting for Sasha's reply, Valerie skipped over to a particularly large cluster and poked the crystals with her finger. She wondered how she could break off a small piece without shattering the entire thing - which was likely what would happen if she tried shooting it.

"Hey, hit this with your giant sword of doom! This piece right here."

She pointed to the one she wanted, in case Sasha hadn't been paying attention. If they couldn't blow up the mine, Valerie decided to at least take back an interesting souvenir.

At her aunt's question about the transformation, Valerie turned to look. She hadn't really been paying all that much attention to it before, tucking away the changes into the back of her mind as she had been focused on the mission just then. It was very much like her to be possessed of a single minded focus and completely dismiss everything else.

"Wow you look very different."

It was true. While Sasha's face looked familiar, the rest of her had changed entirely. Her normally raven hair had turned white as fresh snow; prompting Valerie to reach out and gently touch a lock of hair. Even her eyes had changed their ruby like hue to aquamarine. Truth be told, the girl wasn't sure whether she liked the transformation or not. The new appearance was beautiful too, as was Sasha. It just didn't really feel like her aunt anymore. Even her voice had changed a bit.

Still, it would be hypocritical of her to disapprove as her ReQuip made her look nothing like herself. Or even remotely human. Valerie continued to stare at Sasha for a few more moments before suddenly hugging her. It would take some time before she got used to it.

"You look very nice. But I still like the real you best. What happened to your bunny outfits anyway?"

Valerie had halted their advancement, getting sidetracked like usual. Though Sasha always had a soft spot for indulging in them for her, because usually the reason why made her either laugh or intrigued her enough to see where it would go. With one hand placed on her hip, she approached the lilac haired girl and tilted her head in thought. Slowly, Sasha walked up and stood beside her with Memento rested on her shoulder while her left hand solely held the blade up. Light eyes gazed at the crystal that had Vale in such a fascinating mood that she had really come to think about wanting some. There didn't really seem to be any harm in it, but for her own assurance, the former Knight knelt down and inspected the crystals herself before standing back up and nodding, swinging her large weapon around and stabbing it into the crystal, knocking off a nice sized chunk and sighing. "No, you can keep it for yourself, just be careful with it, understand?" She asked, making sure the girl would understand her and her tone of voice as well to be taken seriously, rather than a ploy of being friendly.

"Also, Memento has a name, aside from our nickname of it from when we were kids. I'm surprised you still remember that name." She watched the girl for her reaction to her question, and just like she assumed, she tunnel visioned away from everything else and had only really just noticed the difference in Sasha's appearance. What was different for her, was watching Vale reach out and touch her hair. She must have been very curious of it and felt pretty compelled to explore it a bit. As they continued to walk along, she had been asked about her bunny suits, most likely meaning the magical ones she used for her magics, and she nodded and chuckled at the mix up she was having. "Oh no, I should have explained this thing a bit more. When I use magic, the bracelet I had before transforms me. This suit on me now is only a default until I use an armor. Then the bunny suit nation lives on top once more!" She laughed a bit, enjoying a moment of another coined line they had when they were kids growing up.

With a sigh, the snow white haired girl turned around for a moment before she set her blade down and turned back around, hugging onto Vale tightly and shaking as she held back the desire to cry. "I.. don't mean t-to do this n-now, but I.. I can't hold it back any longer." She continued to hold her tight and cry onto her, with a strong want to keep it up until she felt like she was comfortable, and hoped that Vale would let her continue and provide her support, but that was a given that she knew. All the time, not aware an enemy lurked around hiding somewhere.

An excited little shimmy was the result of Sasha agreeing to help her acquire the pretty crystals. Valerie had known her aunt would help. She was always reliable that way. Standing back a little bit to give her room to work, the girl watched as Memento quite easily sliced through the cluster and cleanly separated a bit of crystal.

"I will. I promise."

Valerie clutched the crystal to herself happily but took note of the seriousness in her aunt's voice. Even though the age difference between the two girls wasn't massive by any means, they sometimes acted like guardian and child.

Ever since she was little, Sasha had been looking out for her. Her aunt would give in to her oftentimes silly ideas with patient fondness, all the while making sure no harm or adverse affects would come to her. That was how it had always been and she was glad time hadn't eroded that away even in the slightest. If it had been anyone else, Valerie would have undoubtedly rolled her eyes or made some sort of sarcastic remark at being told to be careful.

"Of course I still remember it. Its an excellent name for a weapon. Memento is good too."

The crystal she held in her hand was willed away to her pocket dimension, where it would be safe until Valerie could get to it. It really was quite pretty, the way it slightly changed colors depending on how the light hit it.

"Ohh. I was worried for a second there."

The two girls' companionable laughter filled the cavern as they both thought back to their childhood. It had been a lot of fun although it had its sad moments. Sasha had more than made up for all the times she had been lonely.

Sasha's sudden change in mood startled Valerie and her arms automatically wrapped around the curvy frame of the silver haired girl in a comforting embrace. Of course, hers was much more gentle than the force Sasha exerted unknowingly, having no doubt forgotten that her ReQuip made her much stronger than the average human. Still, it wasn't really a problem as Valerie didn't require oxygen while in her current form - or, well, feel pain, really. Even if that hadn't been the case, she would have let Sasha squish her. Seeing her aunt's tears was something that greatly upset her. The bunny ReQuip mage was by no means a coward. She was a strong girl and didn't cry about pointless matters. For something to have made her feel that way, Valerie was certain it was something utterly serious. She had picked up earlier that her aunt had been feeling down about leaving the Rune Knights. Perhaps it was related to this.

Quietly stroking her hair and continuing to hold her, Valerie let Sasha cry as much as she liked - while wondering who it was that she needed to kill for hurting the one person she loved most in the world.

While Sasha was distracted, two monsters had crawled out of a crack in the wall about fifteen meters away from where the girls stood. Sasha had her back to them and would most likely not be aware of them. However, before they could ruin the moment and further upset her aunt, Valerie raised her gun and shot the remaining five bullets into the first monster. Upon death, it exploded and set off the one behind it as well, taking care of that. The explosion itself was far too small to reach either of them.

"Would you like to tell me what's wrong? You know I'd always listen."
