Mashyuu and Brennan in: The King of Beasts!

Job Details:

The barren desert heat beat down upon Mashyuu, the rays of the sun causing his perfect, spiked brown hair to drip thick balls of sweat into his sky blue eyes, stinging them painfully so. Mashyuu raised a red and black fingerless glove covered hand over his eyes to shield them from the beams of natural light as he stepped closer and closer to what appeared to be a ram shackle village. He was supposed to meet Brenan there to help with a job that apparently needed to be done. Something to do with lions.

Mashyuu couldn't believe how hot it was, even to the Dragon Slayer of Earth. "Ughhh I should have studied under a fire Dragon..." Mashyuu groaned horesly while Rocky simply stared up at him with a twisted head. The Earth Golem never seemed to feel heat, or fatigue. In a major way Mashyuu was envious of that. He wanted to be a stone Golem, even if just for a day. The stone dog pushed it's body against the bare bottom half of Mashyuu's legs, the orange shorts hanging off Mashyuu's waist just barely slipping over Rocky's back. "I know buddy, you could have flown me but you said I was gaining wait and needed to sweat it out remember?" Mashyuu said through gritted teeth to Rocky.

The Earth Slayer barely took enough steps to make it into the small village, it's hut like homes all made of animal flesh that had been tanned and cured for the weather. Men and women milled about, working hard while children played games. Apparently a pride of Lions had been stalking the group during the night and killing many villagers. It made Mashyuu wonder why the tanned tribe, dressed in light weight and light colored clothes even bothered staying where they were. Mashyuu stopped a small child and asked about the village elder and the child pointed Mashyuu in the right direction. Carefully the Earth Wizard and Rocky stepped through the flaps of a tanned and large hut where an old man sat with crossed legs over a rug made of zebra skin. Mashyuu untied the brown one sleeved jacket from around his waist and slipped it on over his bare chest. "Hello sir, I'm Mashyuu from Sabertooth, I believe you are expecting me?"

Flames filled the sky and coated Brennan's whole body as he exploded through the sky, speeding towards the Hunter Village. He corkscrewed and somersaulted through the air, ignoring the persistent pain in his abdomen that had started less than a month ago. After a few minutes of flipping through the air gleefully, Brennan spotted the Hunter Village in the horizon. "Alright." He muttered to himself, "Time to go full throttle!" With those words, Brennan started to travel even faster, and within a minute, he could discern people in the village. "Now for the worst part." He muttered, doing one last somersault and poising himself to go downwards. As he traveled downwards, the flames around Brennan started to subside, but he didn't get rid of them fast enough, so Brennan smashed into the barren earth with a sickening crashing sound that could be heard throughout the entire village. "Hrrrrggghhhhh..." Brennan groaned, and as the smoke faded and passerby could see that Brennan had landed straight on his skull. He had arched over backwards. It took Brennan a few minutes to dislodge his skull, and as soon as he did, he looked around to see if he'd caused any noteworthy destruction. Fortunately, he had not. He'd created a crater and 60 feet by 60 feet, but luckily, he had landed about 100 feet away from the Hunter Village. "Whew, that was close!" He sighed, jogging towards the village. As he looked around, he saw children playing and men and women playing games, and he could also see some people in huts made of leather.

Brennan had heard that the village was being attacked by a pride of lions during the night, so he had come to help. Part of him wondered why these people were staying him, but another part of him knew how hard it was to leave home. He flashed back to when he was barely even six years old and had run away from home because of his rampaging father. As he remembered this, the pain in Brennan's abdomen increased tenfold and he doubled over in pain. "Jesus Christ..." Brennan muttered, bringing himself back up and trudging to a nearby man, asking him where he could find the Village Elder. Brennan was pointed to a hut almost identically to all the others, but it was clearly much bigger. It was only then that Brennan noticed the heat, but he didn't really care, he had grown accustomed to heat, after all, half the time he had burning hot flaming coating him. He paced into the hut wearing his dark green hoodie over a black t-shirt, along with a pair of baggy jeans. Any stranger would be stunned at how Brennan was capable of wearing such concealing clothing in such hot weather. An old, wrinkled man with skin that looked to be made of leather was sitting on a zebra-skin couch with a mage and an earth golem talking to him. The two looked familiar, but Brennan wasn't exactly sure where from. "Yo." He said, holding up a hand in greeting, "Name's Brennan Skyllon from Fairy Tail. I contracted you about helping with the lion problem?"

Mashyuu heard the familiar voice of the Skyllon himself come from behind him and the Earth Wizard gently turned around while smiling ear to ear. The brown haired Earth Slayer raised his hand and spoke clearly. "Man long time no see! Seriously it's been since the graveyard right? Looks like we are both doing this job." Mashyuu greeted his old friend and extended his hand to shake it. After the shake Mashyuu stepped to the side, allowing the man on the couch to speak.

"Yes, I have contracted both of you to help me deal with a lion pride that has been stalking the village at night. The animals have been dragging the villagers away and likely eating them. The men and women haven't returned yet. Please wait here tonight and help my village, everyone is living in fear and I don't know how much longer we can go on like this." The old man begged of Mashyuu, Rocky, and Brennan. The Dragon Slayer glanced over at Brennan to get a feel for what the young man thought but either way Mashyuu was going to help. He just hoped that his friend would do the same. "Nothing to worry about now. Just have your villagers move to the center of the village and We will take care of the lions I promise." Mashyuu assured the man while patting Rocky's head. "What do you say Brennan, you game to do some hunting today?" Mashyuu asked with a smile on his face. The ring on his finger growled low and whispered to the Earth Wizard. You should not be helping these people. They need to leave! But I can only offer you advice, do with it what you will. Mashyuu lifted his gloved hand and looked at the golden ring.

As the man talked to him, it clicked. This was the person who had been on a job with Brennan at that weird graveyard place. "Yo!" He said cheerfully, playfully extending a flame-enveloped hand, as if he expected Mashyuu to shake it. "Just kidding!" He said with a hearty laugh, extinguishing the flames as he closed his palm. "Mashyuu... was it?" Brennan asked, just as a formality, of course he still remembered the man's name. "Anyhow," He remarked before the chief began to talk, "It's quite chilly in here. How could you possibly be wearing shorts?" And he wasn't kidding either. Brennan had grown astounding resistant to heat within the past few years, so much so that even the most scalding hot shower was lukewarm at best for him. It was then that the chief began to explain what was going on, and that people had gone missing and had never come back. The mercenary inside of Brennan wanted to say that they were probably dead, but he bit his tongue, not wanting to make the old man panic any more. Mashyuu then asked Brennan if he was up for some hunting, and Brennan said, "Did I spend 4 years stranded in an alternate dimension where I learned to use non-elemental fire magic and no time passed here?" After a few seconds he said, "The answer to that question is yes, by the way." After looking around for a few seconds he looked at the chief and asked, "So, what exactly are we to expect from this whole thing?" He had come here in a rush, and was, admittedly, relatively uninformed. He just hoped he didn't anger the chief by asking any socially inappropriate questions... it was something he did much too often for his own good. And his jokes, well lets just say they destroyed many a friendships.

Mashyuu extended his hand to the fire enveloped hand, not afraid of the magic or the effect it might have on him. But before the Earth Wizard could grasp Brennan's hand the fire was snuffed. Mashyuu cracked a smile and gave the Chief his full attention. The man explained what was happening and Brennan asked what to expect. Mashyuu tilted his head to the side with a confused expression on his face while he tried to figure out if the man was serious. "Bro... Lions. Packs of em most likely. Hunters...So stuff happening at night. We should rest up now and set up a watch point early on. You fly right? Maybe you can hover..." Mashyuu suggested. He glanced at the Chief and bowed his head in respect then grabbed Brennan and backed out of the tent. When the pair were outside the tent Mashyuu slugged Brennan in the arm playfully. "Just as jokey and awkward as ever I see. Still have that robot hanging around or what?" Mashyuu asked, thinking that the creature would be a big help during this job. Mashyuu's slayer nose picked up a burnt scent and his eyes followed a trail of smoke to a large crater. "Do you not know how to land or something? I could help teach you... Or rather Rocky could." Mashyuu offered while gesturing to the animal like creature that now paced back and fourth like a hunting dog with wings. "Come on, we should get a feel for the land, see where it would be the easiest to get into the village and start picking off easy prey. If we are lucky there won't be many. Besides I think everyone will be in the center of town anyway. So if nothing else maybe we can find a choke point." Mashyuu said while walking for the edge of the village. He had changed since the two met last. No longer was Mashyuu a new Wizard looking for a mentor to help finish his training. Now he was a full fledged Ace of Sabertooth, fighting to help keep his guild afloat with the vanishing of his Guild Master and her Lover.

Mashyuu vaguely explained the whole thing to Brennan, who now understand it better, but played it off like it was a joke, "Just messin' 'round man!" He said, "Didya really think I would come here that uninformed? I'm not that stupid..." Mashyuu then asked if Brennan could fly, and he nodded curtly in response. Mashyuu dragged Brennan out of the tent and slugged him in the arm playfully, and then made a joke about Brennan's personality, which he chuckled at, there was no way more accurate to describe Brennan than that. Mashyuu then asked Brennan about his old A.I.R.C. model robot,which had stayed in the Otherworld because it wasn't with Brennan when he had been transported back to Earthland. "A.I.R.C., you mean?" He asked, before replying, "It's currently in another dimension... in short, no, I have not got the robot with me." Soon after he said this, Mashyuu was drawn to the large crater had made not far from the village, and said that his earth golem could teach Brennan how to land. "I'm getting the hang of it." Brennan said, "Slowly, but surely. You shoulda seen the first few craters... I blasted away enough dirt to send a Slayer into Force!" He said with a chuckle. Brennan followed Mashyuu to the edge of the village while the man explained his plan, which Brennan agreed with entirely. As Fairy Tail's Sun Fairy, one of the guild's newest Aces, it was Brennan's job to protect whoever he could.

When he and Mashyuu arrived at the edge of town, he somersaulted into the air and released flames from his hands to keep himself aloft. He rose slowly into the air, looking around the town for any prime positions to fend off lions. To his dismay, the town was much larger than he had expected, and even as night approached, people did not gather at the center of the town. "Uhh, Mashyuu..." He yelled, looking down at the man, "We may have a problem on our hands... this place is why bigger than I was anticipating. It looks as though it goes at least a mile thataway." He said, pointing to where the town stretched on. "Not only that," He continued, "But people aren't gathering in the center of the town. Something tells me we're gonna hafta go after this Lion Pride ourselves." With that,  he abruptly extinguished his flames and somersaulted as he gingerly hit the ground-- he could land very well if he was just hovering in the air. "It's up to you mate." He'd say, looking at Mashyuu, "So we wait, or do we find these lions right now?"

Mashyuu watched as Brennan flew up into the air. It was honestly sad that his Robot didn't come with him, as the Earth Wizard thought it was super cool. Mashyuu's face twisted with dismay while Brennan explained the village was much longer than Mashyuu or Brennan had thought and that the villagers weren't headed to the center of town. "Balls.... Alright. We can't stay here and wait for these things to start picking off others. We hunt." Mashyuu's face turned a little dark as he considered the options the two had and he swallowed. "I'm about to do something and I need you to not tell anyone I can do it. In fact the only other people that know about it are a woman who gets off on pain and Kanix... So keep this to yourself o.k.?"

Mashyuu pointed to his shadow and then to the sky, drawing an invisible line. The shadow sank into Mashyuu and then streaked high into the sky to form a bat like creature. Mashyuu shouted up to it and started giving commands. "Hell Brood, we are looking for a lion Pride that should be moving towards the village. Find it and lead us there!" The creature screeched in the sky a few times then took off north of the village, putting the setting sun to the left of the Wizards. "Come on, he's got something. Rocky lets roll." The dog sprouted wings and a long tail then grew to the size of Mashyuu and grasped his back, flying into the air with the Wizard behind the Hell Brood.

The Hell Brood led Mashyuu and Brennan to a dark cave in the center of the face of a mountain. It floated there for a long moment then vanished and fell back into Mashyuu's body, making up his shadow again. "Times up. Guess were on our own. You ready Brennan?" Mashyuu asked while Rocky touched down near the large mouth of the cave. "Ya know, every time I go into a cave I almost die. You don't need wide spaces to use that fire magic do you?... Didn't you used to use Earth Magic?"
