A Quick Rundown
As the title of this thread implies this is help hotline for those new to modhood. This is NOT the grading guidelines/rules but just a general blanket of comfort/info. Don't know how or where to start? What you should be looking for? This is the place for these sort of quick tips and odd quirks that come with being a mod.

- 1. Moderator's Corner:
- Pretty self explanatory! This is the hidden part of the forum in which only staff members have access to/can see. The moderator's corner is home to a number of informational threads, including this one. Some threads that may interest you:
Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Jobs
Grading Guidelines (Loose)
The moderator's corner isn't just a place with a bunch of half baked guidelines. It does serve other purposes. Staff Activity checks will always be placed in the moderator's corner. An admin will PM you when one is taking a place. An activity check is just as the name implies a check of your activity as a mod! Other than the occasional activity check, information thread, or plain randomness there are a few,
IMPORTANT THREADS
Guild Change Thread
This is the thread that you're going to want to go to for any guild changes that players request, or need to be put in after making their characters. All you have to do is fill out the template and an admin will get around to it!
Request Thread
Just like guild changes, jewels are handled by admins. On the first page is the template to fill out. This thread is primarily for jewels, EXP is only placed in this thread if the moderator in question can't put the EXP themselves due to circumstances.
- 2. Moderator Toolbar:
Now that you're a moderator you have this nifty little tool bar at the bottom of almost e every thread. Going from right to left on the tool bar:
Deleting Threads:As weaboo trash you might be inclined to touch this cause it's a trashcan butDon't touch this trashcan unless the owner of the thread requests that it be deleted, other than that avoid this button like the plague because no one wants their thread deleted.
Moving Threads: The rectangle with an arrow pointing into it is for moving threads from one location to another (EX: A thread from WIP character section to the Approved character section) This is usually used for Magic, Character, or Weapon/Pet/ETC applications that need to be moved from WIP to Approved of vice versa. Other than that rarely will you be using this to move other threads unless requested to do so. Also, don't click the box that mentions leaving a shadow of the topic!
Locking/Unlocking: This little button will lock threads which prevents people (unless they are staff) from posting in a thread or editing it in anyway! You can unlock the thread by just clicking on it again. You'll primarily be locking threads after approving them so as to prevent edits being made to applications. UNLOCKING APPLICATIONS: When unlocking magic/weapons/etc be sure to quote the original application and put it in a spoiler.
Arrows: Don't touch em' unless instructed to.
- 3. Lineages:
- As mods you have to update the lineage roll thread, and go see what people rolled! Players can roll up to 3 times for free and pick their desired lineage from what the rolled. Your job as a mod is to make sure that they didn't roll like fifty times, and actually put in what their desired lineage is. How? Where? Easy! Their profile. Go the players profile and simply go to where it says lineage. Now that you're a mod arrows should pop up! All you do is click those and type in the Lineage that the player had rolled/chose. Be sure to check your spelling!
- 4. Character Applications:
- What you're looking for:
1. Did they fill out the whole/proper application?
2. 500 word personality description
3. 3 Likes, Dislikes, Fears, and Motivations WITH a short description of each
4. Double Check guild availability and don't approve people for closed guilds
5. Make sure that they're the proper rank
If the player fails to fulfill these then just politely request and list the edits that need to be made!
Approving a Character!
1. Either place your approval stamp on the thread or type out "Approved"
2. Lock the thread
3. Move the thread to Approved characters
4. For new players or players changing guilds, be sure to put their name/guild in the guild change thread
Note: Steps 1-3 can be applied to Magic/Weapons/Armor/Pets threads, just place them in the corresponding "Approved" thread.
- 5. Magic Applications:
- I know most of you are hoping for some sort of generic guidelines on how to grade them but that's not the point of this thread. I'll start this off with some Pro Tips for grading magic:
1. Start off your grading with a greeting! The last thing anyone likes is someone storming into their app without so much as a hello, and demanding that changes be made. Be sociable, polite, fun, considerate, and most of all cooperate with the player. Don't meet hostility with hostility. In short have some personality provided that you're nice.
2. Let players be creative and expressive BUT don't let them be ridiculous
3. Ask for help or get second opinions!
4. READ the rules for magic, magic types, secondary magic, character perks, etc because more likely than not you'll answer your own question.
5. Grading previously graded applications. Only grade the parts that person has added/edited, previously approved spells/abilities should not be touched unless an admin gives an approval to.
Note: The above can applied to Weapons/Armors/Items/Pets applications as well.
- 6. Shops:
- As mods you can approve transactions in the various shops/trading hub. When you approve things in the shops (By either striking out the post and writing approved followed by your username or quoting the post and writing approved) that involve jewels be sure to put that in the Jewel Request Thread!
What to look for:
1. What they're purchasing and that they don't already have too many of that said item
2. How much is costs
3. That they have enough jewels for the purchase
Note: You can do all of the shops/trading hub with the exception of the VIP shop which is strictly handled by the admins.
- 7. Jobs:
- Signing up for Jobs:
- Look For:
1. Actually LOOK at the job that they're doing and make sure that they meet the player requirements.
2. Make sure they players in question have enough job slots open for the said job
- Ending Jobs:
- A long complicated List:
1. Check that the players signed up for the job
2. Check the job description
3. Read the Job
4. Did they actually do the job?
5. Did the players meet the post requirements/WC requirements OR did they meet the over all WC requirement (A thread that is supposed to be 20 posts long with each post being 100 words minimum can be done the WC method and have a total of 2,000 words in the thread divided up between any number of posts provided that the 2,000 words total is met.)
6. If all of the above check through lock the job thread unless the player requested you not to(This is to make it easier for mods to see how many jobs a person is on at one given time)
7. Approve the job in the jobs ending thread (By either striking it out and saying approved with your username or quoting the job and typing out approved.)
8. Give the participating player(s) the proper amount of EXP for their job by editing the EXP value in their profile (Just like lineages) Be sure to account for team bonuses (base exp x 1.5) and guild bonuses (base exp x 1.25)
9. Go to the Jewel request thread if the players earned any jewels for their job
- 8. Advice:
- RULES
Please learn these, or at least look these over because most of the time you can answer a lot of your own or others questions here!
- 9. FAQ's:
- Team Bonuses/Guild Exp: You don't get these if you're by yourself, team/guild only counts if you were on that team/guild when you signed up for it. The bonus only applies to the base exp so if you earn double exp through a job it works like this: (2x C-Rank job with teammate = 50 exp x 1.25 (team bonus) + 50 Exp (bonus)= 125 exp total)
Previously Approved Applications/Pulling:When grading an application that has already been previously approved, please grade the parts that have changed/edited. Any parts that were previously approved are not to be re-graded unless an admin has given you approval to do so. The same applies to pulling an application, do not pull an app unless an administrator have given you the all clear!
