- Job: Crypt Raider!
Job Location: Forgotten Desert
Rank: A
Player Requirements: Two A-Rank mages maximum. Minimum of 35 posts long, minimum of 450 words. 10 Monster Rolls Each
Job Requirements: Find the crypt. Get passed the booby traps. Solve the four puzzles. Defeat the guardian. Get the artefact. Get out.
Job Description:
You and your ally find a "Help Wanted" poster nailed to the side of a museum. You take it to the curator and he looks at you wide-eyed and in awe. "Well, I never thought someone would actually take this job. You two are the bravest or dumbest... souls I have ever met. Ok, lemme give you the mission details. I am only missing one piece of the Lost Magic Artifact exhibit over in our main room upstairs, we only need one thing, the grand staff of the arc, said to contain the power of all arc magic. Of course, it's been deactivated for some time, lost all its power and what have you, anyways... I have to have it, it's all I need. There's only one problem, I don't know where it is. All I have is a map of where I think it is, it's up to you two to figure out if it truly is where I hope. Legend also has it that inside, is a crypt protecting the staff, you two will need a way to get passed the needle ceilings, poison dart shooting walls, pits full of snakes, jump over lava, all that stereotypical crypt nonsense. Then, you will have to get through four rooms each containing a puzzle more difficult than the last, I haven't heard much of them so you'll have to work off the wing, as they say. After that, you will have to face the guardian, no one's ever seen or heard legends about the guardian, so be prepared, and finally, the artefact, it's probably booby trapped, also when you pick it up, you'll be unable to use magic for the escape. Be prepared for the worst, I believe in you two!" Even you realise how dead you are, but fortune favours the bold, as they say...
Enemies:
Weak: Locust (C-ranked)
Those are a must for any crypt, these little buggers come twenty at a time. They are difficult to hit and bite, but it's more like a tickle to an A ranked mage. Unless there are forty or more, you shouldn't have any trouble at all with them. - 1 C rank each to bring down
Normal: Sand Leopards (B-ranked)
They wander around aimlessly in the hallways of the crypt, while not too dangerous solo, in packs of three they could tear apart a B rank mage with ease. Their bites will penetrate B defences, if two bite one B defence, it will break, if three on an A ranked defence, it will break. Their claws are as sharp as glass, so watch out for these predators. Technically, they are golems, they are bound by magic emanating from the crypt, in case you wondered. - 3 A ranks to bring down
Strong: Anubis statues (A-ranked)
They are relatively strong enemies that appear in the final chamber after the puzzle is solved, you must defeat them in order to pass. There are four in each corner of the room all painted black and their eyes will glow red when coming to life. They are equipped with spears that can break B rank shields in two hits and burn 8% mana every time their tips come in contact with a mage, they cannot cast magic, but are still dangerous. It requires an absolute master in melee combat to be able to take on more than one of them at a time. They also litter the hallways of the crypt. - 4 A ranks to bring down each
Boss: The Guardian (A-rank)
He appears automatically, therefore, if rolled, it will automatically be a strong enemy. The Guardian is none other than a giant sphinx that can use powerful sand magic. The Guardian will defend the artefact as long as it lives and it takes 10 A-ranked hits to take him down.
ABILITIES:
Sand Barrier: The Guardian creates a barrier of sand impenetrable by C and below spells. A B-rank spell will damage the shield, taking half of its durability and an A-rank spell with take 75% of it. He activates this shield every 3 posts, refreshing its durability if it is active already.
Sand Stomp: The Guardian raises a paw and covers it completely in sand, enlarging it, then, slams it down onto the enemy. It will break any shield of rank B and under, and will only yield to shield spells ranked A and above, but only barely to A rank shields. The sphinx will use this every time it has the chance and it deals A-ranked damage.
Roar of Sand: The Guardian begins sucking up all the sand in the general vicinity and charges for three posts, it's still able to attack during this time. When it is completed, the Guardian lets out a roar that easily breaks Mach 3, sending a tidal wave of concentrated sand at the enemy, bypassing shields below S-rank completely and dealing 4 A-ranked damages upon hitting a player. The sphinx will be stunned for a post after this, whereas anyone hit will be stunned for 2, provided they are still alive.
Reward: 35,000 Jewels each.
How had this come to pass? Both ears stayed flat as the woman tried her best to figure out a polite way to get this man out of her personal bubble. Currently all she could focus on was the fact one of his arms sat snuggly around her shoulders, keeping them basically hip-to-hip as he chatted eagerly on and on…and on…and on some more about something. ’Probably the exhibits in front of us,’ she determined, sighing a little sulkily. Unfortunately she really couldn’t afford to be rude to him either because in his possession lay another one of her crystallized memories, the thing feeling a bit old not unlike the one she’d acquired quasi-recently. To try and ask for it back rather than forcefully reclaim it struck her as the best option, but the moment she made the mistake of mentioning being interested in one of the exhibits he’d launched into this personalized “tour” of sorts.
So far they’d made it through two rooms before becoming permanently glued to this one, barely shuffling around the room as he opted to point out and speak about everything from the same spot. Whatever was in here fascinated the man to a great deal as he continued to speak over her even when the woman increased her volume a tiny bit here and there. She’d try to either encourage him to move on or inquire about the crystal displays only for him to override her with more history about this room and why it was fascinating because mystical items of mystery and allure and adventure with boulders chasing you down hallways, natives with spears, snakes…I hate snakes, shooting people who expertly waved swords about, and swinging from whips. If anything she was impressed with how many words he could spout before taking a breath, the act so seamless she’d miss the action entirely if she so much as blinked.
Slowly Mao pondered if he might be hinting at something, but for once it wasn’t unconscious obliviousness so much as on purpose. She wanted to know more about how he’d come into possession about that emerald and perhaps what kind of lock and key it sat under currently because damned if the woman couldn’t seem to recall it to her. Normally retrieving them was an easy task, something a certain someone didn’t know (or rather couldn’t remember) she could perform. Except for some reason there was a protective measure encased around the gemstone of interest.
Again the woman attempted vainly to get his attention only for his volume to increase as he chatted blithely about the objects in this room and about how it was an “incomplete collection.” He went so far as to ignore her pouting expression as well, the short woman hunching a little in her annoyance. At any other time this all would’ve been terribly fascinating, the history in this museum no doubt full of various bits of allure and memorable content…but she wanted her damned memories and for him to remove his arm! ’If I asked I’m sure Nocshanks could bust it open for me…but I’d rather he not become a target for hunters. Besides that would reflect badly on Sabertooth.’
