A large shadow passed over the forest deserts and swamps. The creature it belonged to soared majestically through the sky with its master on its back. Today was a good day for Pherin and his wyvern brother Ventra. The sun was shining with all its might and the skies were clear, not a single cloud to be found. Where were they headed? Towards Peace Village to entertain sick children! After reading the job request Pherin felt sorry for the children and nearly shed a tear thinking of how sad they may be. Pherin smiled and told his scaly companion “Today is going to be our first job as mage and we get to actually bring and see smiles for our very first job. I'm so excited!” His strong English accent gave his words an even friendlier sound to them. Motivated by those words Ventra beat his wings even stronger, accelerating towards the hospital.

About half an hour passed before Pherin and Ventra arrived at the hospital. The eight-foot beast flew up shortly then descended towards the building at a steep angle. What the wyvern had forgotten, like it so often does, is that he is rather… unskilled when it comes to landings. Pgerin saw how the ground sped towards him, realizing too late what his partner was doing. A loud boom was to be heard as the creature crashed at high speed into the ground leaving behind a 14 foot crater. Standing up groaning Pherin looked back at his companion. Ventra’s head was plunged into the ground and he was desperately trying to pry himself out. Several minutes later and with the aid of some hospital staff they managed to free the wyvern.

A man came pacing towards the two crash-landers, face all red and stomping heavily. “Who the hell are you, destroying the hospital gardens like that?! Who’s going to pay for this? Not me! You two better have a good excuse to be here after what you’ve done! Jesus Christ! How are we ever going to fix this?” the man breathing heavily in his rage and glared at the two. “Sorry Sir. W-we didn’t mean to do it! It is just that Ventra is a bit shaky on the landings. We’ll pay for it, I swear!” explained the new mage “Please pardon our…ehem…intrusion but we are here on a quest for the children. This is the “Peace Village Institute Of Health” correct?”

The man’s eyes widened, but his expression remained that of a displeased man. “Aha. So you’re the mage who accepted our request. I would’ve expected a more… delicate entrance. Anyhow now, you two better see to it that you get to ward 24. As much as I’d love to scold you for the damage you caused, the children are more important and are eagerly awaiting you.” Pherin slowly backed away from the man that he now thought to be the director of the hospital and repeatedly apologisedas he did so. Once he reached the large double-doors of the building he motioned for Ventra to follow. 8 feet tall and with a wing-span of 24 feet, the creature just barely managed to squeeze through the entrance which already was quite large…luckily the roof of the hospital was set a lot higher than in average buildings (guessed 6 ½ feet) and Ventra could walk to some extent.

As wyvern and mage walked the large hallways of the hospital they could not help but marvel at the hectic and technology of the place. It had only been a year since the two joined human civilization and still, even now after a full year, they still were baffled by what they saw. 163 years and not once had either of them set foot in even a village. After wandering through the corridors and marveling at their surroundings for several minutes they finally arrived at their destination: ward 26.

The ward wasn’t small, but not exactly huge either. There were 12 children in the room, each of them shifting their attention to the two new arrivals. Their gazes shifted between the man and the beast, what Pherin percieved as fear slowly filling their eyes as they did not know what to make of the situation. Pherin knew that panic would ensue if he didn’t act fast. So he smiled and clapped his hand “Well ‘ello there little fellas! My name is Pherin and this is my friend and brother Ventra.” A silence filled the room as the children were still unsure of what to think or do. He continued “Mister Joshua could not make it today, so we are taking his pla-“ The children’s sudden outburst of cheering interrupted his sentence. It wasn’t fear that had filled their eyes, but the initial shock of meeting a real mage. Soon all the children swarmed out of bed and flooded the two with questions as to hwere they were from, what they could do and what guild they belonged to.
