’I can’t believe they forced me to dress up.’
A vague sense of déjà vu struck her, the venue familiar as she recalled another wedding hazily, some odd little red man performing some odd feats and an even stranger speech…but like various other memories she could tell they’d been altered. She pushed aside those thoughts however, eager to not dwell on things she’d someday hopefully fix and cast her gaze about, taking in all the finely dressed strangers as they mingled. ’I suppose I should’ve come here with them,’ she regretted in hindsight, ’but it would’ve been odd to double back. I wish I could’ve at least brought Nocshanks…but I guess if they want us to be undercover having a horse-sized dog does make one stick out like a sore thumb…’
Mao chose to ignore her unique traits, knowing that a few of the guests’ lingering glances weren’t because of the nice dress the wedding party forced her into, the sparkling black dress just reaching her knees before it gave way to black tights and heeled ankle boots. Her shoulders and arms would’ve been barren if not for a shawl and a pink rose corsage. No matter how nicely she dressed however people would always stare at those long, dark ears and the stranger tail that split into three tips. If not for the need to occasionally change locations she might’ve tried to hide it beneath one of the tables with their floor-length cloths – though then she’d worry about people stepping on the thing unwittingly.
Fiddling with the shawl she opted to leave the corner, a nearby group of men constantly looking over and she could just imagine them making some bet about approaching her about a dance. ’Perhaps a snack and then I’ll try to see if I can spy them…but it’s so hard when everyone’s basically dressed in similar suits. If they stuffed me into a dress then surely they forced them into suits…but if they’re just as coifed as the rest of these guests this could take a while…’ Worst came to worst the crystal user would just wait until some of the ex-boyfriend’s posse showed up as she figured the most likely people to sock it to them would be one of her guildmates. While the woman didn’t want to presume anything one of them was a fire user, and she’d found a lot of those associated with fire magic to be rather passionate type people. ’Or I guess he who casts the first or second stone could be Mashyuu…’
