Personality: Cyrus is quite calm and relaxed outside of battle but always eager for a good brawl. While he masks his emotions well most of the time, he is constantly worrying about what the future will bring and how he can be ready for it. If he is indoors then sometimes he can appear a bit anxious until he gets back outside and into the fresh air. Cyrus doesn't often back down from a fight and that sometimes costs him in the longer run. The few times that he lets his emotions show through generally involve fighting, weaponry, or the water in some way or another. Cyrus has built up some close friendships with other mages and those friendships will often guide his personality, whether it's helping him not get involved in an unwinnable fight, or dragging him away from a rare weapons merchant who is trying to sell him quite an overpriced item. His friends are his lifeline and he values them above all others, willingly laying his own life on the line in order to protect one of them.

When it comes to fighting, Cyrus has a love / hate relationship with it. He greatly enjoys battling and combat in general and will be more than eager to jump into a good fray. The hate part of his relationship comes more in the form of his magic abilities. Always nervous about accidentally injuring his friends or allies, he is hesitant to use much of his magic. In fact, he would rather fight barehanded or with his trusty, nonmagical sword over his magic. While not always the best strategist, Cyrus is the true example of someone you would want to lead you in battle. Willing to lay down his own life to save his comrades, he is more than willing to leap into the fray to protect the ones he cares about. His unwillingness to use his own magic except in dire situations can be a major downfall for him. If it's not a headfirst, charging approach into combat, chances are that Cyrus Darkwood has never really attempted it. Hell, he might never have even heard of it and you can surely bet that he doesn't like it. His mindset is that if he can hit it fastest by going directly at it, why take any other route? Working under the command of another can be quite tenuous and difficult because of his apprehension to using his magical abilities and at times it can even be down right reckless. If he holds the commander in high respect then he could be pushed ultimately into using his powers but he would not do so unless absolutely and unequivocally commanded to do so. When those rare situations do come about though, he will reluctantly concede and use his magic, but only after making sure none of his allies are in his immediate vicinity for fear of any getting hurt by him during combat. As you may guess, this holds him back quite significantly with regards to teamwork in battle while using his magic. Without his magic, he's much better with teamwork and coordination.

Likes:

• Being Outside - Cyrus loves being able to walk around and sleep under the stars. It's not that he hates being inside or anything, he just prefers outdoors.
  
• Weapons - He holds a great admiration and excitement over unusual and interesting weaponry.
  
• Sailing - It's an odd one for someone who can't swim but Cyrus quite enjoys sailing on a ship with the wind and mist in his face and being out under the sun, moon, and stars.
  

Dislikes:

• Swimming - Cyrus cannot and has not ever learned to swim.
  
• Politics - He hates any and all things political. If the government or Magic Council are involved, you can be sure he detests it.
  
• Bullies - Cyrus' blood really gets boiling when he sees someone bullying someone else as he had to deal with one when he was younger as well.
  

Motivations:

• Finding a Purpose - Cyrus has never felt like he had a purpose or goal in life so he searches for one.
  
• Morality - A strong sense of morality drives him to do what is right and to bring more light to the world.
  
• Duty - Cyrus has always felt that because he has magical abilities, he would be wasting them to not use them for the good of others.
  

Fears:

• Cyrus fears above all else, his power hurting those whom he cares about.
  
• Fear of water - Cyrus has never learned how to swim and thus he is quite afraid of drowning in water.
  
• Necrophobia - Cyrus has never seen a dead body and is terrified of ever seeing one.
