In Progress The Dream and Mina's History

Post by Mina 7th January 2016, 4:10 am

Running and screaming…that’s how it seems to always end on those lonely nights. Once again the night sky was voided of the moon and Mina had found herself sitting in the corner of the bedroom curled up in the ball waiting for the shock just like she had done for the last 25 years.  Her eyes transfixed on the black and white photo of a young girl that seemed trapped inside the golden locket now opened in the palm of her hand. Then it happen, the intense inner pain, her body going limp, and her mind blackening out.

What seemed to be a few moments later her vision came back, all blurry and out of focus, as if she had been hit in the head by something heavy. Once her vision cleared Mina noticed she was standing in front of a mirror but it wasn’t her doll body she had been so accustomed to but instead that of a young girl dawning blonde hair and blue eyes. She seemed to be in her early twenties and her skin was a light pale as if she hadn’t been out in the sun for a long time but something was off. Her clothes, an elongated simple white nightgown, were tattered and ripped in various spots and blood trailed down her face and bare arms.

Mina raised her hand to her face feeling the smoothness of the fresh blood on her cheek before reaching out for the mirror placing a bloody handprint on the glassy surface. There was shock and fear in her eyes but she had no idea why. Looking down she noticed something familiar sitting at the base of the mirror, her current doll body. Her body moved on its own and bent down picking up the doll and held it close to her chest. She reached behind her neck and lifted off the golden locket that she was familiar with and placed it around the doll’s neck. She then took to pulling the ring off her left hand and placed it on the doll as well before placing the doll back at the bottom of the mirror.

Suddenly there was loud blast heard coming from a room that was above her and yelling between two men ensued. Mina’s body reacted on its own as she bolted for a pair of heavy wooden doors that lead outside to the frigid winter night. She ran out of the doors into the cold snow still hearing the yelling behind her. Faster and faster she ran across the open field till she came upon a thick dark forest blocking her way. Looking back she saw someone standing at the doorway, a faint yelling spreading across the wind towards her direction.

“Go back to him! Go back to him Damnit! I need to see him!” Mina yelled at her body but it didn’t listen. Instead she turned back to the forest and bolted through the branches heading further into the darkness. Branches smacked her face and body scratching her and tearing apart what little clothing she had left. Sounds of someone following grew louder as she continued running only causing her to become more frantic.

There was a bright light and then a sudden blast of wind as Mina bolted out of the forest and came to a stop mere inches from the edge of a cliff. She turned around and noticed a shadowy figure standing at the edge of the forest. Her mouth opened as if to speak but Mina heard nothing as a cold chill ran down her spine. Then out of nowhere as the figure took a step towards her she went for it, her body jumped off the edge and plummeted down into the empty abyss. Then there was darkness.

Mina’s vision came back to her as the sun began to fill the room with its warm light. She stared at her wooden hands, clenching and unclenching them making sure that they were actually real. The dream filled her mind, as it had once a month for the last 25 years, with fear, sadness, and even more questions. Once again she had missed who the mysterious man was and why she was running from said person in the first place.

This dream….this vision…no…this memory is the strongest evidence that she has that possibly connects Mina to what could’ve been her past life or at least one of her past lives. Why is the dream always the same? Why does it always happen on a moonless night? These are just two questions out of hundreds that Mina has constantly asked herself over the years.
