House Repair

After officially getting a Fairy Tail emblem, the day after, Atsui headed to the guild job post.

After reading some of the job offered by the guild and the towns people, the black haired guy, decided to get a quiet job, since the first one he took, was way too dangerous.

Gotten all the information needed, Atsui went out of the guild , weaving his hand to the guild mate that were sitting in different tables, in the main hall.
The day wasn't too bad, but it was pretty cold, and some clouds in the sky were warning him, that he should have been quick if he wanted to fix that house roof.

Good for him, in his travel he found himself fixing many broken roof, since he had no place where to stay and not many money, he couldn't have too much expectation. Usually the first abandoned place he found, he just set there fixing things here and there, so he could stay for a while.

The house was quite close to the guild, he had to walk fifteen of twenty minutes at the most.

Now in front of the door Atsui shook the bell on the right side of the door, and Mr. Weatherstein came promptly to open the door.

Yes? who are you?

After slowly opening the door the old man inquired to Atsui.

Hello Mr. Weatherstein, i'm Atsui from Fairy Tail guild, and i came to help with the repair job. Said him with a clear, still kind voice.

Oh! Finally someone came! I did that request more then two weeks ago!? My roof is falling to pieces and the porch is more or like the same. Please come!

After hearing Atsui was there to help, the old man became gentler and nicer, offering Atsui a cup of tea and some cookies, explaining then, what he needed to change, replace or fix.

Atsui nodded at everything the man said, and drunk his tea with haste, then he took is time eating those lovely cookie, probably handmade by the man wife.
They were delicious and Atsui weakness to sweet couldn't allow him to eat them fast.

Your face is telling me that you really like my wife cookies hu?
With a hoarse voice, he cough a couple time, then stood up, and started to get some utensil to start the job.

Meanwhile Atsui finished the cookies, and satisfied as if wasn't from a long time he stood up as well and followed Weatherstein.

After getting all the tools needed, the young helper carefully analyzed the damage, and what could he need to fix everything.

Then he started to list all the materials needed.

humm, we will need some new wood here, a few board, sendpaper, glue, nails some slating, and...

Then list went on for a while, and the old guy was a bit worried about how much that would cost, so Atsui reassured him, that he would find all these things for a reasonable price.

Then he hurried back to the guild, and after a quick check in the guild storage, he found a few things he could use, to save some money for the old man.
Quickly going back to the house Atsui started to work on the roof first, since the cloud were getting darker.

Sir, do you have a ladder?

Off course i have kiddo! Are you really asking for that, when it's two week i'm wating for this job to be done?

The old guy went to get the ladder while mumbling things to himself.

As the man came back Atsui started fast to fix the roof. His magic was kinda usefull for this job since he could move object easily without even moving from the ladder.

With a nailed hammer he started to take off all the rotten wood, that was the cause of all the problem and leaking. It was quite the amount so he just void moved, all the garbage out of the house with a flick of his hand.

The downside of that job, was that he usually hate to get dirty, and all the dirty water and small pieces of wood where falling on his head as he was cleaning the roof part that needed to be fixed.

After a good two hours of job he was pretty sure that all the rotten wood had been removed.

Then he moved on the porch and did the same work, getting out of that mess took around five hour in total. it was getting dark and pretty cold, so he decided to put a layer of wood just to cover the roof and nailed it down to prevent the rain to fall inside, then a rapid fix to the porch as well before leaving.

After getting back to the guild, he felt kind of satisfied, it was for him a new things to work for someone else, and getting paid, to basically do the same things he always used to do for himself.

While he was falling a sleep, a thin rain started to pour, and the sound of the rain on the roof and tree greatly helped him to relax and sleep, after all those hour of work.

In the morning Atsui got up early, just so he could go and finish the job in this day.
As soon as he reached Weatherstein house , the old couple welcomed him with another cup of tea, and even more cookies. If it was for Atsui he could have do the job for free, just to eat those delicious cookies, but a deal is a deal, and money are needed to survive!

As soon as he finished that lovely break fast he started to work again.

I'm going to take of the wood i put yesterday and start the real work.

The old guy smiled kindly and then he left the room, so that Atsui could work fast and without any hitch.
Then the young boy proceeded with the job.

As predicted , removing the wood, a bit of water started to flow down, but that was the proof that the small fix he had done, had been usefull, since no water leaked in the house the night before, even if it was raining a bit.

Then Atsui cutted down all the wood he needed to make a nice and neat job, he glued and nailed all the wooden board, untill he did a very nice job , and the ceiling was better then when it was new. He was sure he had done a very nice and fine job fixing that big hole, now he only needed to go on the roof and put a few tiles, to finish that part of the job.

In this time, his harmless magic turned out to be very usefull, since he was close to the ceiling he void moved himself on the roof , in the part of the house, and started to put some light concrete on the part he had previously fixed.

The tiles he got for the roof, were more or less identical to the old ones, the only difference was, that they looked new in comparison.

Carefully placing all the tiles, he wiped away some sweat from his forehead. Then went in front of the house to fix the porch.

The roof was as good as new, but this porch had a bit more things to work over. Without any further ado, he started to craft all the part that needed to be replaced.

After three hour of crafting, the old man with his wife came back from the shopping district.

Hello lad! How is the work going? Asked the man with a smiling face.
Atsui was concentrated on cutting things with a saw, and barely hear the old man question.
Then he raised his head for a split of a second and noticed the old couple was staring at him.

Oh! Hello Mr. weathersteain, how was your day?

Weatherstein wife smiled kindly at Atsui, and started to walk a bit closer to Atsui.

My voice is not as strong as your is Haru dear. We went to buy some things for the house, and a nice gift for you!

Then the woman smiled again and dragged his husband in the house with her.

Let's go, and let the worker finish his job , what do you think?

Humm, as you wish Delia.

The old guy was still waiting a answer from Atsui , but he understood that probably the boy could not have heard the question since he was doing a lot of noise. Then decided to follow his wife.

Fixing different part of wood, and painting it the same color they were before getting rotten.
Atsui had finished his job, but some leftover wood and a few other materials were still there, so Atsui decided to add some beauty to the old couple Porch.

All of a sudden the house door slammed open, and Mr. Weatherstein came out rushing.

For the Sain sake young lad!!
You did a better job then professional carpenter up there! Where the hell did you learned to work so well?

Atsui wasn't used to get compliment, and that perfection was reached after repeatedly fixing everything he needed to fix in his trip to fairy tail, so for him it was nothing special, but it seems to be somewhat nice for the old guy.

Come on Mr. Weatherstein, its a nice work, but is not as good as you are saying, i only did the best i could..

The old man froze when he heard these words, the guy was a professional carpenter a mage of fairy tail, and still so modest.

Few seconds passed before the man realized that the porch had already been fixed, and not happy Atsui had started to make some embellishment.

Then guy went back inside only to come out a bit later with his wife, and they started to mumble between themselves as they were looking at Atsui working.

After another few hours of work Atsui had carved marvelous things on the wooden column of the porch. He was satisfied enough of his work, and the fact that he could try some new technique.
As the work was finished the three went back inside the house, and the old couple invited Atsui to stay there for dinner.

When he went for his first job, the young boy declined the invitation of the village chief where he had finished his mission , but this time, he had a completely different few, and feelings thanks to the guild. So he decided to accept the invite.

The old woman was a very good cook, it was one of the best meal Atsui had never had, he got offered some wine, and accepted to drink a bit gladly.
That evening was a very nice evening for Atsui, he would have really worked for free if he didn't needed money so much.

After they finished to eat and drink, the old man went in his room and came back with a small bag, containing the jewels to pay the boy.

You did a marvelous job lad, we are not rich otherwise i would have added some jewels for your job.

Said the old man forcing a bitter smile.
But his wife came to the rescue, putting in Atsui free hand a huge bag full of cookies.

This was the surprise i promised! Thanks a lot for helping us dear.

That bag of cookie alone would have been worth the job for Atsui, but he just smiled and thanked the old woman back. The he left the house after his best regards.

And went back to Fairy Tail to communicate the job had been done.
