    Job:
Why Did the Sky Stop Crying?
    Rank:
    A
    Job Location:
    Forgotten Desert
    Player Requirements:
Two B-Ranks allowed, higher levels allowed. 4 mages max for a team, must be at least a minimum of 30 posts long, 550 word min per post. The monster dice must be rolled a total of 15 times in this thread.
    Job Requirements:
Help the researchers or guard them as they fix the Water Lacrima on the sky platform that produces artificial rains for the desert. Doing both will earn more .
    Job Description:
Welcome to Project Oasis. I'm Knalla, head of the Magic Science division of the Magic Council. If your reading this, then you want to know just what Project Oasis is. Well, I'll tell you. Were bringing rain to the desert. With regular science, it would be impossible. However, were talking about magic here. Well, a massive magical object, to be precise. We have placed a gigantic water lacrima inside the clouds above the desert sands. It seemed to going pretty well, until there was a freak lightning storm that struck the lacrima and damaged it. I need you to go out there, via airship, and either help fix the damn thing or guard the researchers while they work. The sudden aspect of water seems to be bringing in some strange animals around the work site.

    Enemies:
    Weak: Wyning Gulls
These stark white creatures are very easy to see coming. They don't really do much except screech pretty loudly. This wouldn't be so bad if one or two showed up.. but when a flock of thirty do, they have the power to shake the rivets right out of metal. That's not very good on a sky-barge. So, key point. DON'T LET THEM GATHER ALL AT ONCE! - 1 A rank to bring down

    Normal: Sky Slicers
These birds are pretty freakin' weird. We've never seen anything like them, to be honest. They are birds, that's for sure, but they have the body of a fish. However they fly and breath air. It's quite..confusing to say the least. Anyway, you need to keep these things away from the sky-barge. We use ballasts of air to keep the barg level in the sky, and the fins..wings..whatevers on these baby's are about as sharp as a razor wire. One wrong burst of air and the lacrima, and everyone on board will plummet to the desert floor below. That's bad, by the way. - These take 4 A ranks to bring down

    Strong: Some..thing.
Okay, I REALLY don't know how to describe these things, other then ugly. Imagine a lizard with wings, that's not a dragon, but tries to act like one. It's massive, about the size of the barge, and can take a direct hit from B-Ranked lightning bolt and smirk. Good thing it doesn't come around often, or the researchers would have quit a long time ago.. We suspect this thing's weakness is it's wings. If you see it, aim for the wings. - 15 A rank hits if you go for the body, 5 A rank hits if you go for its wings

Boss: A strong flanked by two Sky Slicers

    Reward:
Once the lacrima is fixed, your free to leave. If you only helped or guarded, you will only receive 20k jewels each. If you do both jobs, you will receive a total of 25k jewels each.

    a true son of a

    " “

It wasn't like the young dragon to feel boiled at any point. Considering his already high body temperature, there weren't many heated conditions that he didn't feel comfortable in, not to mention his Dragon Slayer training involved sleeping in a volcano with a superheated fire dragon belly as a pillow. These factors included, Ibara didn't understand why this desert was scorching hot. He'd wrapped himself in thick layers of sand coloured-cloth (see image above for visuals) to warn off the sand that threatened to almost rip his face off. The area was ripping quite a storm, whether it were due to the beasts that flew up ahead or the wind that constantly battered at Ibara's robes; the young dragon didn't know or care, he simply wanted to reach the destination.

    "Pffh.. pathh.. ergh!“

Three sounds that emanated from Ibara's throat as they threatened to tumble into his stomachs; sand grains that had rised up from the ground and shot directly into the young dragon's face, an encounter he certainly wasn't prepared for. This momentary lapse of movement triggered him into secondary thoughts, thoughts of whom his partner would be. However, he really already knew the answer to this question. It would be his mentor, Frederik, a man he certainly hadn't got off onto the right foot with. Their backstory was complicated at best but, while walking through this barren terrain to a destination in god knows where, Ibara had the time to afford such thoughts.

"It wasn't long ago now, maybe six months until he finally accepted me as his mentee? It all started when we got into that fight over the street vendor. I suppose if it weren't for that illusionary girl, we would've ended up tearing eachother throats out, my throat more than his most likely. He liked my fighting spirit, and to get Fred to like something? The Sabertooth Guild members told me that was an extremely rare occurrence. To have him as my mentor was both an honour and an unfortunate happening they said. His power was to be marvelled but his temperament was to be feared. I didn't really understand them myself, I'm not scared of anything, especially not him; maybe that's why he likes me. After six months, by then he'd witnessed me fight several times as I ascertained a plethora of jobs to show to him after completion. He was impressed although he didn't show it and finally agreed. We're probably pretty similar, maybe that's why he took me on, although I'd never admit it to his face.“

Ibara had quite forgotten where he was after his temporary mind-rant but to his relief he stood at a door to a metal institution which was literally in the middle of nowhere. The building itself looked like a cubed piece of metal, no windows and only one door which was the only obscurity about it's main building. However, above this was a hatch which opened out into a one hundred metre long ladder which ascended into the clouds. Above the ladder, the young dragon could just about make out the signs of a massive skywalk which hovered above the clouds. Ibara assumed this was how the scientists placed the water lacrima there in the first place; the thought of having to ascend such a high monument made this dragon's tummy twirl.

"Igneel.. help me out on this one.“

He prayed for himself before throwing his body inside the metal building and out of the scorching heat, there he pressed his body against a wall next to the door and waited for Lord Frederik. The scientists attempted to approach him but he waved them off until his mentor arrived, he'd let him deal with the logistics of the job; that wasn't the young dragon's expertise anyway.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 13th January 2016, 6:41 am

Sometimes Frederick really wished that his jobs would take him some place nice for once, a peaceful village or maybe a serene valley filled with flowers. But no, if it wasn't some abandoned and haunted guild hall, or traversing through some high uncomfortable jungle to reach some crumbling ruins. It had to be a desert. A scorching hot desert, with no place to hide yourself form the burning rays of the sun itself.

Only instead of the scorching sun, Frederick was met with a turmoil of wind and sand, that scraped over his clothing and skin. Luckily enough, he was clad in his usual attire. Which was an hooded black cloak, that covered almost hist entire being, but also billowed and fluttered fastly in this harsh environment.

In the distant, Frederick could vaguely see the silhouette of what seems to be a building. Which judging from the route he travelled, and that there was nothing else this big in the area around him, it had to be his destination. Yet he couldn't be entirely sure, as the shifting sands clouded his vision.

As he drew near, his mind began to wander. Thinking about the current situation and how he ended up here. Since he after all wasn't doing this mission alone. A young mage was about to join the fray, a dragon slayer by the name of Ibara. Who surprisingly enough, not just for other but even for him self. Had been taken under his wing, as a protege of some sorts. Like he was the teacher and Ibara was the student.
How this came to be, Frederick didn't really know. As they had a rather rocky start to put it lightly. The first time they met, Frederick was just a few nerves away from punching the all the kids teeth in. If not worse, luckily for the both of them. Some girl, another mage of the guild managed to stop them, and also evade Frederick who was known more for his eternal wrath then anything else.
Either way, somehow he made an impression on the young lad he fought, and the other way around if Frederick had to be honest. And in the months that followed, Ibara had occasionally bothered him with certain jobs he had fulfilled. Really, sometimes Frederick couldn't even enjoy a good meal in peace, without Ibara literally shoving a job sheet into his meal. But somewhere along the line, Ibara managed, he had convinced Frederick to reluctantly agree to some sort of mentorship.

Sure, Frederick said to others that he was just tired of the constant nuisance. And that this was the only way to deal with it properly, but if he had to be honest. The last time Ibara came to him, all roughed up from taking on a job that might have been a tad out of his league, Frederick gave in. The only problem was, Frederick didn't really knew how to be a mentor, he was more the get it done kind of guy, without even giving a second thought to the consequences.

Before Frederick knew it, he already had reached the building he had seen earlier. And slowly pushed open the large iron doors, that would lead him inside, and offer him shelter from the storm outside.
Once in, he quickly took notice of Ibara who was standing several inches away from him. Leaning against the cold stone wall next to the entrance.

'Good you're already here' he said coldly while lowering his hood onto his back.

Post by Blood Plus 13th January 2016, 8:22 am

    a true son of a

    " “

Ibara wasn't surprised with Frederik's apathetic reaction. In fact, it was a custom that the young dragon had grown to be quite accustomed to in actuality. The constant revolving cycle of throwing job after job in his mentor's face in an attempt to win him over was usually received with a similar reaction - hence Ibara's adaptability to it.

With that disregarding attitude in mind, the young dragon motion himself off the steel wall and forwards, expecting Fred to drag along in tow. Having been here for a reasonable amount of time, ten minutes or so, he'd ascertained a decent amount of information simply through surveying what everyone else was doing, where they were going and when they were doing it. He'd noted that there were only scientists that inhabited the area, he'd assumed the engineers responsible for fixing the lacrima (that they were now meant to fix) were lost atop the skywalk above since naturally, with capable engineers, this job wouldn't have been necessary in the first place. Ideally, the young dragon would've liked to waltz up to the nearest scientist and get the job underway immediately, sadly there was this entire administration process which involved meeting the head honcho and discussing the problem in detail before they were actually allowed up on the skywalk.

"Ughhh! Are we heading there or what?!“

Ibara referenced the office where the bossman resided. His voice was loud and resonated off the metallic walls clearly, creating a pitch-perfect echo which reverberated around several rooms. Every scientist swivelled their heads in his direction, it was creepy, almost robotic inr response but soon enough they returned to their business. All but one whom went to receive them, not a word was uttered from his mouth, could this be due to the disturbances going on above? If it had lulled him into such a sense of insecurity, how bad could the situation really be here? It made the young dragon question if he was in over his head on this job.

Both Frederik and Ibara navigated through long corridors. The walls either side of them were barren and enclosing, everything was singularly-functional, simplistic in design. Ibara would've assumed differently since this place clearly leaked of intelligence but he shrugged it off. Clearly their intentions were clear and they didn't want anything getting in the way of that. After coming out into a semi-ovular room with a simple metallic desk at it's back, shouldered by a leather chair; they were greeted by a rather rotund man whom sat comfortably against the seat, eyeing both mages like a hungry predator.

"Hey, we're not your next meal. Let's get straight to the point, we need access to the skywalk.“

That intentional predatorial look vanished from the boss' face and his eyebrows furrowed, clearly angered about the remark on his weight. He rose from his chair and stood at an astounding height of seven foot. Clearly, to any ordinary human, he wasn't someone to be reckoned with. However, Ibara was no ordinary human, he had the blood of a dragon and rose to meet the boss in a squared-up fashion just as he began to speak.

"Watch your tongue, kid.“ Ibara sneered at him and stuck out his tongue intentionally. The boss, clearly knowing he was out his depth, sat in his chair and backed down before continuing in a much more civil manner. "I don't want this conversation lasting for any longer than you do. However, I must greet you with this warning before allowing you access to our sky-walk. There our many dangerous beasts that lurk up there, they are responsible for the death of many mages whom have come and failed at this particular job. Although you may think you can rise to this challenge with open arms, this is no walk in the park. One mistake, and you'll die. Hell, even if you make no mistakes, there's still that possibility. Be as vigilant as possible and kill them as quickly as possible for they will only multiply.“ The boss looked sincerely scared at this point, so frightened in fact that he wouldn't even mention what the two mages would be facing up against. He gulped and waved them away, his eyes were watering. The young dragon glared on in bewilderment. Was the situation really that bad?

In the distance, the sound of a rattling metallic gate could be heard from an ascended position. Then the descension of a ladder from above slammed right in front of Lord Frederik, opening up to a sky-blue scenery above, layered with one particular steel skywalk, matching in colour to the rest of the building, only this time, parts of it were stained the colour of red.

"After you.“ Ibara grinned at his mentor; something he didn't often do. Alike all the other mages, Ibara did greet the job with open arms but there was one difference. Unlike the other mages, Ibara would succeed no matter what the cost.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 14th January 2016, 7:22 am

Long and boring were the halls of this research complex, a grey monotone continuity as the two mages traversed it. Passing scientists and engineers, who lacked the equal amount of creativity as the building they resided in. With the only exception on this rule, the head administrator. Who was a fairly large man to put it nicely.

Before long meeting this rather round fellow, Fredericks frustration had already settled in. As he just as his young protege wanted to get this job going already. But instead he was being met with the cold interior of the building and the lack of interest the scientists provided in them. Maybe they'd just didn't want to look a dead man walking straight into the eye.

But upon meeting the so called boss, the lead scientist, Frederick's frustration had reached its peak. Just staring at the blob of a man, wiggling in his chair infuriated the black clad mage. How could a man talk of caution and demise, while he himself haven't faced any danger whatsoever, probably not even a single moment in his entire life. No just by the looks of it, this man's one and foremost activity was to indulge himself in food alone. If this threat was so serious, why wasn't it handled right away, call in people with real expertise. In stead of throwing mage after mage at it, only so to save on a few jewels, he himself could probably spend on.. well food.

The scraping sound of metal was to be heard, as a ladder sheered down from above and came to a clashing halt as it landed right in front of Frederick. Who only reacted with a grunt, that could be roughly interpreted as the word 'finally'

For a moment Frederick would gaze upwards, following the ladder that went straight up and into the blue sky. Which suggested that it reached all the way above the clouds or above the raging storm at least. Then without any further doubt, Frederick grabbed the ledger a each side, and would start to climb up. Expecting Ibara to follow him eventually.

It was a slow process, as the further they got, the more fragile this ladder appeared to be. Or at least that was how Frederick perceived it, especially when they reached the point where the safety of the buildings walls, was being replaced by a surrounding cage that didn't left much room for movement.
To make matters even worse, the cage had wide open spaces between the bars, giving not only the harsh gusts of wind that bellowed around them to catch them off balance. But also leave enough room for any particular flying predator to freely pick any delicious meal, that was foolish enough to climb all the way up.

Moments passed, and the climb upwards steadily progressed, to the point Frederick eventually could distinct features of the floating plateau up ahead. At this point, he would glance back for a moment to see how Ibari was doing. While also bellowing above the storm. 'Keep it up! We're almost there!' Not that the information was needed, as it was fairly obvious. They both had passed most of the storm by now, and naturally Ibari had to keep it up as going down wasn't really an option.

    @Fred

    INCOMING!
The young dragon did the best to keep his cool. Situations like this were both his forté and the justifiable reason as to why he lived. With one hand clutched in a strengthened manner against the iron rungs that decorated the ladder, he nonchalantly threw his body outwards to hang in the breeze for a moment. Ibara called it breeze. To be more precise, it was a 50mph storm, so powerful that it made minuscule rain droplets seem like paintball pellets. Ibara shrugged off the pain. This feeling of being in the air, so weightless, suspended; it was exhilarating, it reminded him of the old days with just him and Igneel when they would fly through the air together to allow young Ibara to acclimatize to the situation he'd lived in at the time; atop a volcano.

"Speed up a little, will ya'?" Ibara shouted from a few metres below his metor. He grinned at the thought wondering what picturesque look of absolute arrogance would have been soon replaced with immediate annoyance. Frederick continued without turning around though; despite the exhilarating sensation that the storm gave him, that didn't excuse the dangerous factor of climbing this ladder. They were suspended almost 100 metres into the air by now. One wrong move, one slip-up would send them tumbling to their deaths providing they weren't quick on their feet. Although the young dragon was enjoying himself, he still maintained the utmost focus into what he was doing.

"Keep it up! We're almost there!" Frederick's patronizing and slightly sarcastic tone annoyed the mentee to no end. However, Ibara was relieved to receive the news. They had been climbing for well over thirty minutes, taking each rung slowly as the wind threatened to throw them sky-high before plummeting to the sandy crevices below. The silhouette of the skywalk above them was beautiful to behold. It's frame was sturdy, unperturbed by the movement of the wind around. It glistened in the rain that decorated it yet the only factor that ruined such an image was the bloodstains that leaked either side. There were no bodies to be seen; clearly taken as prey for the predators that had set upon them. Ibara gulped, what kind of monsters were capable of such a thing? Especially from such a great altitude.

"Dragons..?", being the spawn of a dragon in itself, he couldn't let the thought pass through his mind nonchalantly. It was quite possible that they could inhabit a location such as this. They preferred barren and remote areas, it could be that this was an invasion of their territory which would explain the attacks. The thought occupied Ibara's head for several minutes, so long in fact that by the time he came to, Frederick was already standing at the top, glancing down on him. His glare was agonizing to behold; it's usual patronizing tinge ever-present.

Gratefully, the look wouldn't last long. A couple silhouettes had thrown themselves into view, their movements so fast that Ibara couldn't even identify what they were. Although, judging by their agility and circling motions, these winged creatures clearly weren't here for an evening soar. No, their intentions were much more menacing.

"Well? You just gonna act like breakfast or ya' gonna do something already?!" Ibara said in an exasperated manner while the wind whipped through his mouth and stole his words away. The young dragon didn't have time to close the distance between him and Frederick by the time that the two winged beasts were descending for their second run. This was something his mentor would have to deal with alone. Although, Ibara couldn't help but feel more worried for the monsters than his mentor.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 21st January 2016, 4:44 am

As his hand grasped around the very last bar of the ladder, Frederick pulled him self up, to the point he'd could climb out of the shoebox of a ladder and onto the sky walk that stretched out around him. Noticing instantly, that the opening he just climbed through, used to have some sort of steel hatch covering it. Yet what remained of that very contraption was nothing more then a few broken hinges and claw marks that were engraved in the ground for several inches.

What was even more disturbing were the glistening spots all around the platform, which Frederick first discarded as puddles of rain. Until that those very puddles weren't rain at all, but instead blood stains. Some were dried up, others were still fresh and reflected the sunlight that pierced through the clouds. The platform itself was as flat as a board, and appeared to be stretching out to even beyond the horizon itself. That was nothing but an optical illusion though, since there was now a sudden lack of land or mountains in the distance.

However the most notable sight out of all, was the large crystal blue lacrima that orbited in the midst of the entire skywalk. Obviously the malfunctioning piece of magical technology that needed to be fixed. And like the rings of saturn, this lacrima had several magic pentacles floating around it as well. Each engraved with various cryptic symbols and strangely written words.

With a sigh he turned around, to look down the damaged hatch again. Trying to see, and definitely judging his so called mentee. Luckily he wasn't that far behind, just a couple of meters. But just as himself, he seemed to be slowed down by the harsh wind that sheered around him. He did try to say something, or so it seems, Frederick didn't really know. He could see the guys mouth move, but whatever he was trying to say couldn't reach him through the bellowing wind.

Soon enough, Frederick figured out what Ibara was trying to say, as a rather strange shriek came from above him. And as he turned around to face the very source of that notorious sound. He saw two winged silhouettes growing gradually larger as they soared towards him. To the point they became visible enough for Frederick to actually distinct some of their features. Which would have the former dark mage raise an eyebrow.
The sight of those very creatures was strange to say the least. They were some sort of bird, or that was what Frederick assumed at first glance. But when they became close enough, Frederick could see the creatures strange features that it actually even left him a bit dumbfounded. They had feathered wings, yet that was the only thing that could be remotely seen as a bird. Since the rest of their body seemed to be fish like? They had vins, and scales of what a fish supposed to have. Even the head was that of a fist, with big popping eyes. Yet the mouth, or beak was some kind of strange mix again. Carrying similarities to that of a bird, and a fish.

    'what the...'

Were the only few words Frederick could bring himself to say. He literally had no words, sure he had seen several strange creatures. Yet nothing had ever looked this stupid, well that is not true. There was one creature with a striking similarity to this one. And that was the hane-Sakana also known as the winged fish, utterly distasteful and somehow always yelling something along the lines of 'I can fly!'

But this wasn't the time for trivial trivia, no these beasts could very well be the enemy that had been pestering these scientists for so long. After they surely did look hungry enough. So'd better to deal with these right now, in case there was anything more like them.

He would let them close in, close enough so that they could become an far easier target. After all these were flying creatures. Making aiming at them with single shot spells a tad harder. No if Frederick wanted to fight these ridiculous creatures with ease, he had to ground them.
The moment they were close enough, a sudden burst of darkness erupted all around Frederick. His own aura materialized in a vaporizing black mass. And from it three long and black clad tendrils shot out. One slamming the first of the two birds away, and away from its trajectory towards Frederick. And the other one, was unfortunate enough to be the receiver of Fredericks wrath. The two remaining tendrils, wrapped around the creature, and with out mercy slammed it into the platform with such force that a short panicked shriek was to be heard as it crashed in.

Now a normal mage would've stopped there, to give it some sort of a fighting chance. But Frederick was a bit different. Before one would know it, the first of the three tendrils had moved towards the other two, and together with them. Hung above the wounded creature for a moment. Like a scorpions tale ready to strike. And then a second later, they started a barrage of smashing and pounding into the creature. Until at some point there was nothing left then a bloody messy pulp. An unrecognizable form of mass.

"You've attracted more of the damn creatures!"
Ibara was out of breath by the time he reached the ascended point of the ladder. With a hand on the final rung of a metallic endless mass, he wrought himself to the skywatch himself, unintentionally faceplanting in a pile of fresh blood. With a face of coated red, he raised his face to the air only to see his mentor already engaged in combat with the two winged beasts that he'd identified before. As predicted, they were fast, agile and winged creatures; capable of unleashing diverse attacks from any angle in a blink of the eye. Speaking of such incomparable speed, Frederick matched them without breaking a sweat. Ibara did his best to stay out the way; at one point having to dive directly back into another fresh pool of blood in order to avoid another's attack. The sheer velocity at which the creature's moved at sent Ibara careering across the skywatch only to have his head smash against the lacrima, dealing damage to the very object that they were meant to repair.

"Watch it, jackass! I could've died!" Ibara screamed at Fred with a hand resting against the back of his head, clearly pained by the impact of the previous assault. Obviously the attack wasn't Frederick's fault but Ibara needed someone to complain to that could actually speak english; these beasts weren't an option.

Their flying seemed endless but Frederick had had enough. Ibara could barely have time to inhale before noting that one of the bird-like creatures had already dropped dead and circled down into the cloudy chasm below. A thud of sand exploded from the ground and rose above the clouds, signifying both the creature's heavy mass and the surface of what was below them. The other creature met a much more unfortunate end, it's body ruptured and pierced several times after being downed by Frederick's dark tentacles. Ibara grimaced at the sight before shouting.

"You've killed it already! It doesn't need any more torment!" Rows were common between the mentor and mentee but this was a subject Ibara felt strongly on. The beast, having only acted in a territorial fashion was now being subjected to some form of torture that definitely wasn't justified. Ibara growled in Frederick's direction; doubting his point would even reach the the glorified Frederick's ears.

Anyway, it was clear that the monsters outranked Ibara severely. He understood one thing, he wasn't to engage them unless he valued his life. This was an instruction given to him by both Frederick and the Guild Master; a request he could hardly refuse no matter how much his character refuted such a request. So, Ibara's instructions were clear, focus on the reparation of the lacrima; something he was well-equipped to do after a tutorial by both the scientists and the necessary toolkit slung over his shoulder via a backpack. The young dragon glanced over to Fred once more, noting a darkening shape floating on the horizon behind him.

"See what I mean, baka! You've attracted more of the damn creatures!" Ibara's hand shot out from his chest, pointing in an irrefutable fashion to the skyline where a darkening haze of winged shadows began to form. They were getting closer and they weren't happy after witnessing the torture of their family. Ibara grimaced and turned away from the enemies, he'd only be an object in Frederick's way. The young dragon unslung the backpack and threw it infront of him, unleashing the tools which now spread out in an array ahead of the lacrima. He glanced at them and the instructions imprinted in his brain now began to whir to life. This was his task and he'd do it well; only then would he be able to join the fray.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 25th January 2016, 1:49 pm

Frederick practically ignored what Ibara shouted at him, while he barraged the poor creature with a continuous stampede of his blackened tentacles. Was it on purpose? Maybe, or perhaps it was just the bloodlust that rushed through the former dark mage's veins. An dark and vile urge, unable to hold back or show any form of restraint when dealing with his enemies. That made him deaf for most reason around him.

It was only after he was done, that he heard Ibara. Who by now had climbed up to the lacrima, in order to repair whatever it was that had broken the magical machine in the first place.
Only this time, he was shouting something entirely else.

Frederick turned around, following the direction his partner in crime pointed at. Only to see several more black silhouettes growing gradually larger. Well gradually wasn't the right word, as one of the silhouettes was fairly bigger then the rest. And judging by the key features that started to reveal itself as it approached the two mages, it wasn't anything like the creatures they'd had encountered already.

'A Wyvern!!!' Off course, just his luck. Of all the creatures they'd could have encountered, it had to be a wyvern. Which practically was a cousin to the enigmatic and all powerful dragon race. But despite being just a cousin, didn't meant it wasn't strong. No on the contrary, a wyvern was a rather strong predator. That not only showed significant speed but power as well. There was one upside though, the wyvern itself didn't seem affiliated with any of the natural elements. Meaning that Frederick didn't had to deal with any out of the ordinary attacks.

Still a wyvern was a tough opponent, even for someone like Frederick. And then there were still the other creatures that followed the big one.
Two of those appeared to be the same as what they'd seen before. The strange flying fish creatures that were mixed up with reptile parts. And some other flying monstrosity, which actually looked more similar to a bird that the fish heads. The last one didn't looked particular strong.

Frederick glanced back, only to catch a glimpse of Ibara who already was engaged in the other vital part of their job. Namely fixing that god forsaken piece of technology.
It was going to be tough, but Frederick had to make sure he creatures didn't reach him. At least not before his protege had managed to repair what ever it was, that malfunctioned.

'Dark void!!!' bellowed Frederick at some point, while also throwing his arm to right. Which created a great number of black pentacles all around Frederick. Floating in mid air, and slightly tilted so that they'd aim towards the flying monstrosities. And from it, a multitude of black beams were being shot, that travelled with the speed of a bullet.
It wasn't one of Frederick strongest spells, in fact it was one of his weakest, which became rather clear as the the first row of beams didn't even scratched the large wyvern who flew at the front.
Luckily it wasn't his intention to harm the creatures with this attack, no, Frederick knew that this attack was as futile as throwing some rock at the beasts. No he had to grab these creatures attention, before they'd noticed Ibara. So what better way, then barraging them with several magic focussed beams. At least the smaller ones should be in disarray for a moment and divert their hungry gaze upon him.

"You've attracted more of the damn creatures!"
Ibara didn't think he could handle glancing back to look at the fray that his master now involved himself in. Besides, he was heavily distracted by the task that lay ahead of him; fixing that lacrima. The young dragon would have no choice but to delve back into his memories, as far as he could remember, fixing this lacrima was no relatively easy task. He had declined the help of bringing a scientist up there with him, much to the employee's relief. Coming up here was absolute suicide, if Frederick wasn't here, Ibara would've been long dead already. His fingers worked themselves incredulously over numerous wires, attempting to shift them and re-shift them, every now and then his fingers glowed with red fire, channelling magic into the once active lacrima.

"Come on.. What did they say again?

Ibara's vision faltered as he travelled back into the depths of his mind.

He was back downstairs again, Frederick was no where to be seen, clearly this was between the ten minutes of the young dragon arriving but the absence of his master was evident. He was leaning against the metallic wall, watching the employees go by. One of them approached him, his face was contorted, some attempt at self-inducing courage to just come up and talk to the young mage. Ibara didn't realise he was that intimidating, then again, the scowl on his face made him a lot more frightening than usual.

The scientist was shaking as he spoke, something that annoyed Ibara greatly. He passed it off though and that's where he received the toolkit, along with instructions on how to repair the lacrima. The scientist had mentioned something about channeling an opposing magical force, more powerful than the lacrima itself to kickstart it's wires. Keep in mind, this lacrima was made and transported by a Class S wizard, ranked three ranks above Ibara, there was no way he'd have been able to jumpstart such a thing with his own magic. The only way he'd be able to do it was using his rather temperamental mentor. However.. jumping back to reality...

...Frederick was extremely preoccupied. Ibara couldn't even identify the monsters anymore, something scaly and winged, too small to be a dragon but terrifying nonetheless. It survived many of Frederick's more devastating attacks, even going so far as to shrug some off. Clearly he was just doing his best to act as a viable distraction while Ibara worked on the lacrima. The young dragon watched a small, vortex-like void spread from a spontaneous point in the air, firing magic balls at the monsters. Ibara thought to himself. If he could somehow reflect one of those balls back at the lacrima.. could it work? This was based off the assumption that that was an S Class spell, a piece of information that wasn't correct but Ibara was oblivious to the fact.

"..You're gonna have to trust me on this one."

Ibara said under his breath, gritting his teeth upon glancing to Frederick. His hand was inside his bag but what could he be reaching for? A mirror extended from his backpack, a magical mirror, capable of deflecting a spell, assuming the spell wasn't very powerful. Ibara didn't actually know that last part, he assumed it reflected any spell.

Like a frisbee, Ibara chucked it forwards, it whizzed through the air, catching the eye of the monsters and the man who threw it.

    "Shit."

Although he'd succeeded in attracting the monster's attention, his original intention for the mirror was a success. Ibara dived out of the way as one of the black balls assailed towards him, having been deflected by the passing mirror which now descended into the chasm below. The black ball struck the lacrima perfectly, frazzling and electrifying it in what looked to be dark electricity. But then.. nothing.

"What the hell is this?! You're an S-ranked wizard and you're not even dishing out S Class spells? Baka!"

Ibara shouted across the skywatch suddenly as the wyvern set his sights on it's target. It dived towards Ibara, but the young dragon evaded in the nick of time, swinging his arms around it's neck. Obviously no physical attacks that Ibara was capable of would do any damage in relation to the wyvern but.. he sure as hell could keep it away from everyone else, while Frederick handled the weak ones anyway.

The young dragon successfully mounted it's back and wrenched it's neck backwards, sending them both careering off the skywatch and through the clouds, out of Frederick's sight. The master would just have to trust the mentee on this one, there was nothing he could do to save his pupil. Ibara was long gone.

'Just focus on the damn- what the hell are you doing?!!!!'

As Frederick turned around to give his mentee a piece of his mind. Which honestly wasn't probably the best course of action, considering the fact that both of them were practically surrounded by the flying beasts. He saw his young protege taking a rather, dangerous risk to say the least.

Somehow, someway, Ibara had managed to catch the wyverns attention. Putting himself in immediate danger, yet that wasn't the part that astonished Frederick. No, the moment the winged monstrosity dived down to lunge at the Sabertooth mage. Ibara, did the impossible, he grabbed onto the creatures neck in the same decisive moment he'd managed to evade it. Resulting in him eventually mounting the creature, and steering it into the clouded sky. Leaving Frederick, with his jaw dropped open, unable to comprehend the level of dangerous stupidity he just witnessed.

Then a shriek from behind him, loud enough to be painful for his ears. Loud enough to be close. Quickly Fredericks senses were jumpstarted again as he focussed himself on the matter at hand again, and immediately dodged to the right. Barely avoiding being shredded by one of the fish creatures, that snapped his large beak at him.

There was nothing Frederick could do right now. After all he had still these small fry to take care of, and he doubted that they would let him go to chase after his fellow guild mate. So for now, Ibara had to fend for himself.

Another shriek, this time coming from above. Forcing Frederick to glance over, and see one of the creatures diving down towards him. Its maw wide open, ready to try and scoop Frederick up.

'Stupid beast..' While talking to himself, Frederick turned around to face the incoming danger. Waiting for it get close enough, his hand forming into a fist while he pulled back is entire arm, like he was ready to punch. Then the moment the flying fish was close enough, Frederick punched forwards, his arm reaching all the way inside the beast's maw. Releasing a deadly blast of his own magic, a beam of black light that was being shot through the monsters very core. And eventually bursted out its very behind.

Sensing that the current prey wasn't some simple afternoon snack, turned around shrieking and tried to fly away. However, after three flaps of its wings, it suddenly noticed that it wasn't going anyway. And as it looked back, it could see a freshly formed tendril. Reaching all the way from Frederick and wrapping around its very legs. Then with a sudden pull downwards, the tendril would slam the creature into the ground, and then again, and again, and again. Up to ten times, Frederick would steer his black extension into the ground. Crashing and slamming the beast with it, like a stray doll. Until its fate was sealed. Leaving him only with one creature remaining.

"You've attracted more of the damn creatures!"
Some may have asked what was going through Ibara's mind that day when he decided to ride an enemy that dwarfed him in terms of power -- in truth, the young dragon didn't have an answer, it was the spur of a moment but hey.. you learn from your mistakes.. right? Ibara hoped so while he clinged to the wyvern's neck for dear life. They spun through the air, Ibara's chest pinned to the wyvern's scaly spine. It wasn't an easy monster to hold on to, the scales didn't account for making an easy grip, in fact, they were surprisingly slippery; it was like trying to hold onto a piece of lubricated metal -- next to impossible.

Soon enough, the wyvern realised it wasn't going to get anywhere simply flying around in an attempt to get the young dragon off it's back. This prey was far too durable for such a simple method to kill. Ibara could've sworn he saw a grin on the wyvern's face as if it came to some sort of bestial confusion while the two dipped downwards from the sky into yet another stomach-inducing spiral.

"Enough with the spirals! We've been going in loop-the-loops for the past five minutes now. If you want to kill me, why don't you do something original for a change? At least make my death a little exciting, bird-brain!"

Why did he say that? Ibara wondered too. This only caused a shrill scream which the young dragon interpreted as a roar to exit from the wyvern's mouth. This shrilling, piercing noise could even be heard from the skywalk far, far below them by now. The wyvern dipped downwards before spreading it's wings and swinging itself up again, launching skywards to altitudes that Ibara would never be accustomed to. The air became exceedingly cold, below zero, and he could already feel ice beginning to settle on his lungs. He was running out of air, was this really the wyvern's plan?

Gasping, wretching, Ibara didn't even have the energy, his body was slowing down -- his grip weakening. He didn't think he could hold on much longer and he was right. his grip loosened and he dropped off the wyvern's back, shooting towards the ground. Little did he know that the wyvern couldn't tolerate such an altitude as well and had frozen it's wings on the ascent. The two dragon-like creatures spiralled towards the ground in conjunction, Ibara looked around, completely dazed as he slowly became accustomed to his surroundings again. He was falling at incredible speeds. He just had time to open his mouth while he passed Frederick whom was still locked in combat along the skywatch.

"You better of finished that weakling by the time I get back!"

Ibara couldn't tell whether his voice was audible or not as he shot past his mentor, the wyvern in tow. It had regained it's flight ability by now and had recognised the still conscious and breathing young dragon below it. The wyvern shot down after him at incomprehensible speeds -- they couldn't have been far from the ground by now. It was quick and launched it's mouth onto Ibara's abdomen, ripping away shreds of flesh. Ibara growled back at it, grabbing onto it's mouth and swinging himself back again. The wyvern followed it but this turned out to be it's grave mistake. Ibara had caused the wyvern to actually bite itself directly on the wing as the young dragon hopped over it's body and out of it's reach. One wing down and a flightless young beast to go.

Ibara watched as the ground got closer and he smirked to himself, sparks were already glowing at the bottom of his feet.

    "Have a nice trip, bird-brain!"

Fire expelled itself from the bottom of Ibara's feet and launched him at equally fast speeds back up again towards the skywatch, his hands ahead of him. He couldn't risk looking below him but he recognised the crashing sound of the wyvern against the ground; it was undoubtedly dead or at least grounded never to make a recovery back into the fight.

Now the question was whether Ibara had enough energy to expel himself back to safety once more.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 30th January 2016, 6:53 am

As Ibara plummeted along side the Wyvern to a certain doom, they passed the sky passage along the way. With on it Frederick, who in the meantime had already taken care of the very last enemy that was bothering him. Mostly by putting it into a headlock, and just merciless punching at it, till it was unconscious or probably worse. Considering the force he used striking at the creature, only could easily assume that being knocked out was the least of its problems.

Either way, Ibara passed by way to fast for Frederick to even hear a single word he was saying. As the turmoil of rushing down the sky, took away any other possible sound someone could even think to utter.

Luckily something large as a wyvern, creating enough sound as it was whooshing down. Loud enough for Frederick to notice something as it passed behind him. Even if it was just a mere second.
In that same moment, as Frederick attention was being grabbed by that sudden sound. He felt the sudden magical presence hidden between the thick layer that was the wyvern. As a ping on a radar, he could feel it. And Frederick just knew, that was just passed him could be no one else then the young dragon slayer.

Quickly the former dark mage would cast aside the knocked out coil of the creature he held, and ran quickly towards the edge of the sky walk. Only to see a dust cloud in the far distance, while to much of his surprise Ibara would emerge from in a fiery blast. Using his own power to shoot himself as high as possible into the air. Similar as you would see a launch missile rocket off into the sky.

"it's a miracle he isn't dead yet' thought Frederick after witnessing the slayers risky behavior. 'In fact he might me be soon!'

Realizing the great distance between him and Ibara, Frederick asked himself in a sudden rush, if the fiery sabertooth mage could even reach such an height. Even if he would propel him upwards. Certainly such a feat, would require a tremendous source of energy.

Not wasting any more time, Fredericky created a long black tendril that would shoot down over the edge, and towards Ibara's direction. Hoping that it would be long enough to grab the mage. And if not, long enough for Ibara to reach it and hopefully hold on to it.

Reaching over a fifty meter range, the tendril would shot out of Frederick own dark aura. And eventually bugle over the edge. Luckily just in time to meet up with the hot headed dragon slayer, and wrap around his extending arm.
With a tremendous pull, Frederick retracted the black extension and slingshotted the mage all the way back up. Maybe even a tad to much, as Frederick used enough force to throw Ibara a few meters or ten higher then anticipated. High enough for him to see, several new dots appearing in the distance.

"You've attracted more of the damn creatures!"
    "Only a few more metres.."

Ibara's hand was extended as far as it could possibly go, his arm almost popping out of it's socket with the physical exertion of it all. In fact, if it weren't for his mentor's unexpected aid, the young dragon doubted he would've made it as far as he did. The fire underneath his foot had already died down, his momentum being the only thing that continuing to ascend him although the pace at which he climbed was beginning to decrease regardless of whether he was going in the desired direction or not.

The young dragon's eyes widened as he notices something slingshotting towards him. What could it be? It radiated pure darkness and dripped with power; Ibara soon realised it could only be the works of his mentor, Frederick in a desperate plea to get the young dragon back on the skywalk as soon as possible.

Although the force of the tendril which threw him back up again was a bit too much to handle - sending Ibara flying past the desired destination, he appreciated the gesture and would be sure to regrettably thank his mentor after doing so. But right now, he had to watch himself, be vigilant and guide himself downwards at a controlled descent if he were to actually land on the skywatch this time.

"Why do I get the feeling like you threw me this high on purpose?"

Ibara thought to himself aloud while coming to a halt only a few metres, maybe ten at most, above the skywatch. He glanced down below him and noticed his descent slowly beginning. He positioned his body flat out this time and spread out both arms to slow himself down majorly. He was getting better at this as the day passed on. Who said too much falling up and down was bad for someone? It provided healthy experience as far as Ibara was concerned.

"How many of you are there..?"

There was significant concern in Ibara's voice this time, easily discernible from the jokey tones he'd adopted from the appearance of the monsters beforehand. Their numbers were growing too abundant and soon the two mages would be genuinely overwhelmed with their power. Ibara spotted several similar creatures, the same as before, only this time -- a wyvern's presence was absent; an occurrence that the young dragon greatly appreciated.

"Might as well try to take one out on my way down.."

Ibara prepped his body and blew his lungs up to his fullest extent. He knew what was coming.

    "FIRE DRAGON'S ROAR!"

With the young dragon's verbal outburst, a column of powerful flames protruded from his mouth, dispering as they left and enclosing all the monsters within one mighty blast of flame. Obviously the spell wasn't powerful enough to do any considerable damage to any of the monsters but it did do well to disperse them all out and away from the skywatch. Opening up an opportunity for Ibara to land in a safer position.

The fire had slowed his descent to the point where he experienced little to no damage upon colliding with the skywatch rails. His body hung loosely off one of the iron bars before he flipped himself over the side of the railings and landed neatly on his feet. He turned away from Frederick, back faced to his mentor.

"Just like before. You handle the monsters, I'll handle the lacrima."

Ibara made no further comments. He was focused now. If the two were to get out of this alive, this job would require the utmost of concentration, they'd have to put everything else aside for the mean time.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 11th February 2016, 4:10 am

Thanks to Ibara's efforts, the flying monsters had scattered for now. Creating an opening for the dragon slayer to land safely without being snatched away in one of the beasts maws. However, within in time the creatures had found their resolve and gathered back into one flock again. Becoming once again an imminent dangerous threat.

Frederick watched his parter ran over to the lacrima once more, only so that he could be sure that he was out of harms way for now. As what Frederick had planned was highly dangerous, so much even that even standing close could wipe you out from existence itself. Or if you'd survive such an attack, scar you for life. Maybe even having a limb or two gone.

His power started to build up inside of him, his magic taking presence once again. As it took shape all around Frederick. A black smoke like substance that vaporized off his body, like steam dwindling up from a pot that was cooking on the stove. His cloak, stopped to flutter from the harsh gusts of wind around them. Only to be stopped floating midair, pressured and levitated from the sheer power of Frederick alone.

He raised his arm, pointed at the sky above the creatures. Then, at the very spot a magical pentacle started to take shape. And increased rapidly in size, to the point it was large enough to engulf all the flying monstrosities together.

Then the moment happened, Frederick felt the power surge in him. Taking him, overwhelming him. The power he loved so much. And he focussed it all high up in the sky.
The black pentacle lit up, an increasing buzzing noise. A humming almost deafening filled the air around them. Overtaking the loud bellowing wind, and then in the midst of it all. A voice, hollow yet loud. Echoing all around.

    'Dark Void! Exalted!!!'

Frederick's eyes were clad white. His pupils gone for a moment as they were ominously surrounded by a clad black silhouette. Barely to be seen through the dark aura surging around him. But it was just momentarily, before everything got vanished in a bright light.
From the pentacle in the sky, a pillar of black light was being shot down. A concentrated beam of pure darkness, spanning an entire area. And as it made it's way down, the light blinded all. Or better yet, took away all light so it seems. Leaving nothing but a momentarily white sensation all around them.

The screams of agony and fear, unable to be heard above the the deafening noise. Like a the bass of an subwoofer to loud at one of those parties. But one could only imagine what happened inside that pillar of pure destruction.

As once visual would return, an ominous and fore boding sight was to behold, right were the creatures used to fly was.. nothing. Nothing but empty space, and a perfect circular hole underneath them in the platform. Suggesting that whatever was shot down, traveled all the way down. Hitting the earth itself.

    a true son of a

"You should've t-told me before you did that..“

Ibara was suspended in an absolute freeze-frame, seated on the sky-watch bum down, hugging his knees while the last of the dark matter that clouded the sky infront of him began to evaporate away into nothingness. Despite the trembling of his legs after witnessing such raw, and powerful magical power first-hand, he got to his feet and walked to the side of the skywatch, only to glance downwards to see a massive crater in the ground beneath them -- clearly Frederick hadn't appreciated the comment about his spells not being powerful enough beforehand.

With a slightly less-trembling body figure, he stanced himself to look at Frederick, pointing to the lacrima behind him and furrowing his brows in preparation for the statement he was about to introduce. It was better that the two be on the same page rather than a different one, if they coordinated then maybe this lacrima could get fixed quicker, besides, Ibara had proved he could take down these monsters; despite such an overwhelming difference in their power levels. It was just a matter of brains over brawn.

"There's something I didn't explain before. Thought you might've been too busy to take this into account before, but since we have some time between waves.. Anyway, this lacrima is powered by magical energy, the only way to kickstart it back up again is to blast it with more powerful magic than what was required to start it in the first place, meaning I can't power this thing up on my own, it'll require us to work together or rather I'll hold the lacrima in place and you blast it with one of your spells. Just make sure not to hit me.“

Ibara didn't wait on his reply, he wasn't counting on that. Besides, Ibara doubted Frederick cared if he hit his mentee or not, they weren't exactly on a lovely basis with eachother, more of a just generalistic understanding. With the lacrima now tucked under his arm, he glanced back to his partner, no degree of worry passed on his face, a brave feat worthy of commendments since he was about to take an S-Ranked spell head on with only a lacrima in hand. Besides, even if the spell didn't hit him, the magical charge from the lacrima would radiate onto his body anyway -- there was really no way to escape this predicament. If you're wondering why Ibara would have to hold the lacrima in the first place; it's because without it, the lacrima would go flying off the platform and into the abyss below, something the two wizards really couldn't afford to do -- especially after everything they've been through.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 3rd March 2016, 7:26 am

With his own black magic still partially surrounding, Frederick turned around. Facing his mentee who just bared witness to his power taking one of its rawest and probably most destructing forms. Yet the most frightening aspect of everything wasn't the darkness that was his magic, or the sheer force of it. But the fact that Frederick actually smiled for once. Not like a kid who just received a toy, but a devious smile that that reflected a part of his true nature. The part that has remained with him since Savage Skull.

Or maybe it was a bit more then that. He and Ibara didn't have the most stable of relationships, of what one would expect of a mentor and mentee. Their brief interactions were mostly filled with crude vocabulary and even trying to up stage each other. So when the Dragon Slayer proposed a rather risky plan, it was obviously without doubt, that Frederick found the thought of it more then just entertaining.

Was it a good plan, no, definitely not. But even Frederick had to admit it was probably their only choice. There was no way to recharge the lacrima through any conventional means, not without posing themselves to some serious danger. And given the small window they were given, Frederick doubted even he could keep the beast at bay for long enough.

    'You better hold on tight...'

One by one, black magical pentagrams started to appear behind Frederick. All slightly bent, facing or to be more accurate. Aiming. At his very guild mate. Well to be more exact the lacrima Ibara was holding. But honestly, as we all know, that is just a lie. The very thought of messing up his mentee was that dreadfully entertaining that Frederick enjoyed the entire idea. No, this wasn't a caring relationship at all.

'Don't worry, this is just so that I won't miss' he said while even more pentacles appeared around the two mages. Until there wasn't a single way to even phantom a possible escape from this attack. Then they all started glowing, building up power while a buzzing sound started to become louder and louder. 'You ready Ibara?!... Dark Void!'

Then the buzzing stopped, and from out a the pentacles a variety of purples colored beams shot down. All towards Ibara and the very item he was holding. Which was also the last image Frederick saw of the kid before he got engulfed by darkness and smoke from the impact. Now all he could do was wait to see the result, until the dust itself settled.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
    RISE
"With fire in our bellies and the sun in our soul!"
A culminating black beam followed by cylindrical dark spectacles that poured out malicious, dark energy. This really did look like the end. The young dragon glanced down to what his hands enclosed, a tiny blue lacrima that was meant to serve as both his objective and protection from the vastly more powerful wizard and one of his most devastating spells. Ibara was tempted to launch various curses in Frederick's direction for being so hasty to make such a dangerous task seem so easy, his disregard for his mentee was disturbing but that was simply how the relationship that the two egotists shared. Ibara had no doubt that Frederick revelled in knowing that he would be able to shoot his partner.

It all happened so fast. The pentacles began spinning rapidly while dark beams charged in spherical formations infront of them and within a second of that occurence, they transformed into laser-like beams all aiming in Ibara's direction; not at the lacrima. With only a split second to react, Ibara's hands charged with flame so as to augment his reaction speed while the lacrima ducked and weaved in the way of the various beams that approached them. The collision of power being the absorptive properties of the lacrima and Frederick's powerful spell was enough to channel a lot of dark, gaseous energy around the young dragon; clouding him from Frederick's view. They were simply too fast though and being unable to interpret where they're coming from now made the task even harder.

"You're a real pain in the ass.."

Ibara spoke under his breath as laser collided with his shoulder and formed a cylindrical hole where part of his flesh had once been. It had struck nothing vital but it hurt a lot which is why the young dragon spoke in the way he did. His wound smoked for a second but the natural heat of his body quickly sealed the wound shut as quick as it had come. The beam had thrown him off balance though, he stumbled for a few seconds.

    "One.. Two.. Three.."

Ibara counted in his head as, one by one, the beams began colliding with various positions on his body, his feet mostly as he'd jumped backwards to protect the vital parts of his body while clutching the lacrima to his chest. Unbelievably though despite the torment he was going through, the young dragon persisted in his task to remove the lacrima into the necessary positions to continue to exhibit the absorption process. He had no other choice, if failing this, they would fail the entire mission as Frederick couldn't launch his own spell into the lacrima while holding it.

Ibara knew he couldn't stumble for much longer. He was beginning to feel a backdrop to where his feet had once been, causing him to stumble once more while the holes in the various places on his body continued to smoke with an anguish that perfectly described the young dragon's pain. The beams continued to rain down upon him with his vision clouded due to the black smoke and his other enhanced senses barred because of the magical properties of Frederick's spell. The fiery dragon slayer was getting frustrated now; he swung at the beams with the lacrima as if he were playing a game of baseball, dispersing the black clouds in the process. His vision became clear again and he growled, purposely switching off the absorptive properties of the lacrima so that he may, for a split second, deflect one of the beams right back at Frederick in a similar manner comparable to if he were hitting a home run.

"Why should I be the only one who has any fun?!"

The young dragon spoke sarcastically of course and his intentions weren't really to hit Frederick but more to portray as a warning that his actions were extremely reckless hence the smoking holes situated in Ibara's body at the time. He glanced around to see the pentacles had faded and what's left of the remaining black lasers was firing straight back at Frederick, only to zoom past his shoulder. On the plus side though, the lacrima was beaming with dark energy and the fiery dragon slayer could feel it's tremulating power while dark energy circulated around it's clear covalent properties.

"[color=red]You and I both know this isn't the end of it. I don't want to jynx it but we hadn't seen the end of those beasts when we dispatched them earlier; this has no doubt made them want to come out to play.

The young dragon placed the dark lacrima on the floor while glancing out to the horizon only to see the silhouettes of several winged beasts approaching. Ibara's hunch was right and it was approaching; fast.

Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood Empty Re: Why did the Sky Stop Crying? - Frederick & Blood

Post by Godlike Frederik 4th September 2016, 4:22 am

''Come one Ibara keep it up!'' With a devilish grin, and a taunting voice. Frederick pushed the young dragon slayer even further. Knowing very well he had already a tough time that is. After all Frederick was shooting one attack after the other, just so that they could power up the lacrima again. But for that to work properly, Ibara had to hold it up the entire time and thus risk his very own livelihood. However what should have been supposed a serious effort to restore power to the Weather Machina high up in the sky, quickly turned into a comedy sketch. As Ibara clearly was done with Frederick having fun at his expense, and started slamming back some of the attacks.

But when one of the blackened beams was directed back to Frederick flew past his right shoulder. It became clear that he didn't like that one bit as he intensified the rapidness of his own attack. ''you lil smartass! just you wait!'' More and more pillars of black magic were shot at the lacrima, or to be more accurate. At Ibara, as it was more then obvious that Frederick wasn't aiming at their objective anymore. The result of this was the continuation of their little comedy act. As Frederick fired shot after shot at the fiery dragon slayer, who in turn slammed back attack after attack.

Eventually the lacrima itself has been powered up fully, and because of the nature of Fredericks magic it had taken on a faint black color. At that point Frederick seized his attack, and the pentacles that were all around him started to slowly fade away. And while Ibara put down the lacrima, he said something that Frederick could only but confirm.

''You're probably right. No way these beasts are going to give up so easily.'' But as he said, Ibara was already looking passed him, and judging from the more serious look in his eyes. The creatures were already approaching. Slowly Frederick turned his head into the same direction. And saw the confirmation of what Ibara just said. As several silhouettes started to approach them, gradually growing bigger and bigger, at an awfully fast speed. ''However'' continued Frederick ''I am rather tired of sitting down here, waiting for those beast to swoop down on us.... so what do you say? Let's take the fight to them huh''
If Frederick knew Ibara even a little bit, he would probably without a doubt agree with the silver-haired mage. In fact, for this he actually counted on the dragon slayers hotheadedness. It was probably their biggest similarity, the punch first ask questions later method.

While the flying monstrosities started to close in even more, enough so for the two mages to start distinguish the differences between the approaching enemies. Frederick started to amass his darkness around him and Ibara. Or be more accurate, beneath them. It started to tremble beneath their feet, amassing power. ''Get ready!'' he shouted, ''I am going to shoot us straight towards the beasts!''
With an almighty force, the darkness bursted into the sky. Spouting both of the mages along with it, into a direct line towards the creatures.
