Cat Nap... in Hell! | Job | Chelvaric, Pepper

Pepper sat a large stone, filing her nails in that usual purple suit she wore to even situations likes this. She kept a constant eye on the large whole in the ground all the while, making sure nothing went in or out of it. Rumor had that there was a dangerous man down in those tunnels. The rumors were all vague but it was said that he kills anyone who enters the tunnels. Nothing was known about him, or even if it was a "him." The fact that no one had come back alive was of not much help either. When Pepper was first given the job, she almost turned it down even given the very strange and almost paranormal circumstances surrounding it. The job was last handed down to some foreign mercenary but he too was no where to be found after people witnessed him descend into the tunnels.

With such an oddity about the mission, Pepper had reluctantly called in for someone to help her. That person was not who she'd hope for (another Rune Knight) but she at least got a recognizable face to assist her--Chelvaric of Sabertooth, a man that Pepper had the (good or bad) fortune of working with in taking down some slavers over in Hargeon Town. Given that most Rune Knights were too scared or busy to assist, Pepper expected Chelvaric was the last man who could help her. She had sent the man a letter to request help in this job a couple days earlier and now waited for his arrival. If he did not show up, she would simply take it as a sign of rejection (or a sign that the mailman was giving her the business by not delivering any of her letters like she previously suspected he was doing).

Chelvaric was laying down in the grass. Chest all naked with jogging pants on and his hair all sweaty after a good work out. His blond hair was getting messy as a zephyr was going through his hair. It was nice and the sun was shining nice to. A perfect summer day. Nothing could beat a good day of rest. He just had a great workout with hikari but sadly she had to go back to her guildmaster duty’s. Wish he sometimes really hated it but there was nothing to do about that. he closed his eyes and fell nearly asleep when he heard a pesky voice in his ears pulling him back to reality. “ugh good sir your chelvaric right.”

Pein looked up to a middle aged man with a big belly in the usual post mail clothes. Oh the mail man he was just doing his job so he shouldn’t be angry on him. although he was slightly annoyed by it. he said a slightly angry, “hello yeah I am that guy. Any mail for me post man.”

The mail man took a letter out and gave it to chelvaric after saying goodbye he waved and walked away. Chelvaric opened the letter and read through the contents. After he was done he let out a deep sigh. It seemed that rune knight from last time needed him again. Ah well hunting was a thrill for him so he was going to go just because of that. he jumped up and walked to the train station with his hands in his pockets. He didn’t realy need to change it was gona be a simple hunt anyway.

After a couple of hours he finaly arrived in the bean stake village. He walked around and finally saw the purple outfit he remembered from last time. Ah well seems shes staring into a hole for some reason completely exposed. I gona have to teach her a thing or two of hunting. Chelvaric walked around and jumped up behind her. “HAI THERE!”, he shouted and giggled as he watched her reaction.

342/1925

Pepper could have sworn she heard the brushing of grass, but the loud voice caught off guard, much like last time. This time, however, she was surprised enough that she jerked up and fell forward. The air ran through her face and she reached her hands out to grab something but she was just short of grabbing onto the edges of the whole before her upper body went in first, followed by the rest of her. Like Alice in Wonderland, Pepper fell right into the dark hole. Her loud yelps echoed through it followed by a very nasty thump. For a while, there was total silence. Pepper didn't feel dirt where she landed but a hard stony surface, as if she were in some abandoned sewer system or maybe some ancient, underground ruins. She couldn't say for sure but what she was certain about was the fact that she was extremely upset at that moment.

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU UP THERE!?" She screamed toward the opening of the tunnel where the hole lead into. "I COULD HAVE BROKEN MY NECK!" She scrambled to get herself up and grabbed at the stony surface so she could hoist herself up. She climbed up a bit more until she could feel dirt in her hands but, just as she was nearing the top of the whole, she dirt came apart and she slid back down into the tunnel and continued with a plethora of cursed. "DAMN IT!" was among the least offensive curse words in that screaming parade. When she finally calmed herself down, she took a long deep breathe and looked around. It was completely dark and she could barely see her own hands without any luminosity. Pepper reached into her pocket and puled out a lighter to look around and see nothing but stone walls and a stone floor.

She called up, "Get down here, will ya!?" That was about the nicest tone she had all day. In her defence though, her butt hurt from the fall and she wasn't sure but she could have sworn she landed in a puddle of something. Not to mention the tunnel had a creepy vibe to it. It felt like something watching her from beyond the reaches of the lighter's reach. She did not shudder, however, but only scowled at the surrounding darkness as if she were trying to scare it more.

Chelvaric didn’t quite expect what was happening right after that tough. he may wanted to do a joke but it kinda turned out bad sort of. He still was laughing tough it was so hilarious. Instead of just a scream pepper had actually fallen into the hole. Well you know what they say hard lessons teach the best. What if it was the murderer instead of chelvaric there. She could have been dead. He shook his head and sighed. “Calm down. Look you have learned a important lesson. Never forget to watch your surroundings or you can be attacked by anything easily and die easily.”, he said as he jumped down into the sewer or cave thing. He didn’t really know what it was.

It was pitch black. Although his eyes adjusted a bit to the darkness it wasn’t good enough. Pepper had a small lighter but that wasn’t gone be enough for them. He opened his hand palm and cleared his mind thinking of night goggles. After a brief second a blue light came in his hand and not much later two goggles with a head strap appeared in his hands. He threw one to pepper and strapped the other one around his head. “make the glass in front of your eyes and then turn the goggles to the right you should see in the dark then. Everything will be green tough and don’t look in bright lights or you’ll be blinded.”, he explained the high tech glasses to her and then moved forward finally being able to see in this pitch blackness.

He looked at the ground and saw some signs of movement. He ducked to the ground at a trace and pushed his finger over it and then sniffing and licking it. “seems to be a hour or two old. He can’t be that far.”, he said to her and moved out in the direction he thought they were. The ground was wet and sucking on his shoes. His upper body felt a cold wind as he was naked after all.


686/1925

Pepper grabbed at the goggled and put away her lighter. She played around with them for a short time before finally getting them to work per Chelvaric's instructions. It was indeed green and looked very bizarre in the hue. The technology was rather advanced as Pepper had never really experienced something like this--night vision--before. Her head looked around and she saw a very bright light up above. After a moment of adjusting her vision, she realized it to be the opening of the hole. As Chelvaric had said, the light was indeed bright.

"I should probably ask where you got these--OH MY GOSH! ARE YOU NOT EVEN WEARING A SHIRT!?" Pepper might have yelled, but she was screaming a lot louder on the inside. It looked like he just crawled out of bed and decided to come on a dangerous mission without the slightest bit of armor! She calmed herself, feeling a little duped by their false sense of preparedness. When she calmed herself, however, she noticed Chelvaric brushing his finger against something on the ground before inspecting it with his various senses. She almost marveled at how well he could pinpoint the time that had passed since someone walked over something.

Pepper didn't want to admit it, but she felt a little impressed. "I don't mean to take us off the task at hand, but you should really consider 'loaning' yourself to the Rune Knights... we could use your tracking skills." Pepper cringed a little as she abandoned a small bit of her pride for a guildy. After all, Pepper had a feeling that someone with a hunter's prowess would make future en devours of the state much more easy... and interesting.

Although Pepper didn't mean to distract herself, she ultimately did--a rookie mistake. She caught the sound of something brushing against the floor too late.

Chelvaric looked around as he was determining where he went to. Something was weird he couldn’t realy put his finger on it but the guy seemed to disappear at times. There was something really off in this situation. He wondered deeper about it before he was pulled back out of his thoughts as he heard her screaming loud into his ears. He turned around a bit mad as she could have easily gave away their position to everyone. “what are you doing you could have warned him like seriously bad now. If he gets away because of this you owe me a meal for tracking him down over a long distance.”, pein said not amused but rather annoyed. The only thing he hated was when someone was disrupting a hunt. It was not bad if someone like scolded or kicked him outside of a hunt. But just stopping him from being in hunting mode could be even deadly if he was already in a bad mood. But he sighed as this was just a rookie and he should be calm.

“these goggles come from my arms. There magical. Inside there is technology stored of a planet called earth. They have thousands of years of technology that I can use by making copys of them.”, he said to her. She then said something about loaning is skills to the rune knights. Well he didn’t really had a problem with that. as long as it were hunts and he could earn money it was two flies in one. Perfect for him. he was about to answer her when he sensed a presence near him.

but something was wrong as the moment he felt it he started to get sleepy. What was this. He began to have a big head ache and not much later he fell down on his knees and then on his chest as he tried to see if pepper was also being influenced. His face hit the floor and everything turned black.

But the next second he was standing up again and he wasn’t feeling any pain. He was wondering what happened as it was like the previous thing never happened. Was it a illusion. Ugh he hated these kind of mind tricks there was no honor or anything else into fighting a trickster. “watch out pepper there is something weird happening here. I think its illusions but I don’t know for sure. ”, as he said that he heard something behind them. He turned around and saw a small dragon sitting on the floor. He motioned to pepper to not move and be still. This wasn’t good at all.

1127/1925

Pepper could hardly register Chelvaric's complaint as she felt a sudden wave of drowsiness washing over her in a sea of sleepiness. Her eyelids flickered in resistance but, ultimately, she succumbed to the sandman's sweet words and felt asleep. Her body is the stone floor with a loud thump (followed by the cracking sound of her glass skin) but it failed to awake her. When she came to, or thought she did, she raised herself up from the ground and looked around. Her goggles fell offer her face revealed a series of cracks on her cheek from when she hit the floor. She rubbed her cheek for but a moment before wobbling around after being taken aback from her surroundings. She could see much better than she originally could but things did not feel quite right. The air seemed pinker and her movements looked wavier, as if she were tripping on party drugs.

The Rune Knight looked ahead of herself and saw Chelvaric standing before a small dragon (a drake if you will). Pepper, having had a bad day thus far, looked more upset than the scaled beast. Chelvaric's physical movement told the Rune Knight that she probably should just stay still and see where this goes. Of course, Pepper ignored him and rushed forward with the intent to attack. "I'll handle this." Her heels did not clack against the stone floor, however... probably the effects of the illusion or whatever it might have been. Neither did the wind rush her face as she ran. The physical laws of the realm were definitely strange and foreign to the regular world. One thing was still the same though--magic. As she darted forward, Pepper's body became enveloped in a translucent glass that gave her invisibility. Like last time, she also began growing shards of glass on her palm and prepared to strike.

Something unsuspected happened. It might have been the physics of the dream world or just a fluke but the dragon saw right through her invisibility. It jerked its head forward and chomped down right on Pepper's shoulder as she approached. A large cracking noise could be heard erupting from Pepper's shoulder, like glass coming apart, and she was forced out of her invisibility. A great painful yet hateful expression could be found on her face. She remained feisty though; as the dragon raised her up from the ground with its grip on her shoulder, Pepper raised the palm on her opposite hand and slammed it into the dragon's eye. The glass shards on her palm ripped into the scaly monster's eyes and forced blood from it. The dragon threw Pepper away and she hit the ground with a loud thud.

While the monster roared in pain, Pepper panted, "Finish it off!" The Rune Knight crawled back while gripping her own shoulder. A small stream of blood dripped from it, an unusual prospect for Pepper. A couple, tiny shards of glass could be found among the streams of blood, like glistening diamonds in a hellish river.

Chelvaric looked at pepper as she charged forward. He wanted to stop her as that wasn’t smart but she was already gone and got bit by the dragon. He sighed and he saw the blood dripping out of her. He had to stepp in and finish off that drake quickly before he did anything else. he summoned some exo skeletal legs over his legs and felt the speed and strength boost as he stepped. Time to kick that dreagons ass. He ran to the dragon in a sprinting spurt. Nothing could stop him. the dragon started to breath fire but chelvaric slided under it and kicked it in his dragon balls. The dragon shouted it out. Then chelvaric grabbed  the tail and slammed the dragon in to the wall with a mighty throw. The dragon disappeared in a small cloud of purple smoke. He wondered how that that happen. He turned around to pepper and looked  at her to make sure she was okay.

 “Are you okay pepper. Not to wounded I hope. If you need help you can go back and get out ill finish this off. if we can get out of this illusion that is.”, he said on calmly tone wondering what would happen now. But he didn’t had to think about that much as two other drakes came from nowhere. Ah shit this wasn’t good he was running to the drake and dodge its fire ball that hit the other drake. He grabbed the drake by the nose holes and threw it over its shoulder right into the the other drake. They collided but they dind’t break the wall they flew trough it. chelvaric didn’t know what was happening but he dodges the bite of one drake and the other drake bit the other one bite in his metal arm. he ripped his mouth over the throat of the drake and ripped open its throat. That one was dead to and he started to punch into the other dragon. He kept bashing its head till it was one small pieace of meat flesh. He sighed and threw the drake of his arm. now he was free and he could finaly maybe end this illusion.  He looked around not knowing what was happening. It seemed they disappeared and nothing was happening. How would they get out of here he didn’t had any clue. He looked over to pepper to make sure she was okay again.

'Monster Dice' :

"I'm alright..." Peppet sat against the stone wall to catch her breathe for a short moment as she witnessed Chelvaric practically make scale boots out of the dragons. He finished the first one with relative ease while the other two were nothing of consequence to him. He seemed to play with them like they were inferior puppies to be played around with by their superior master. It was almost comical to watch. Pepper merely took the time to check her own wounds and, although the cracked glass on the skin didn't give a lot of comfort, it didn't look to be anything serious. As she watched Chelvaric handle the scaled monsters, Pepper pushed herself against the wall and raised herself up from the ground. She pushed herself against the wall and wobbled about for a moment before regaining her composure. Seeing Chelvaric finish off the last of the dragons did little to comfort her though.

A menacing presence approached Pepper from the side and she could see the silhouette of a figure through her peripheral vision. Her turned her face to the right in a quick jerking motion and narrowly avoided a set of sharp knives to the face as pushed her heels against the ground and jumped back out of the attack's reach. The figure that had attacked gave Pepper very little time to follow up on her dodge, however; the man lunged forward and swiped his knife-claws once more. This time, he managed a hit but it came at the steep price of being a little slower--the claws scraped against Pepper's glass skin in a way that reduced the man's ability to pull his hand back. It was with that that Pepper took her chance and, with glass shards covering her hand, slammed her palm into the man's horrifying face.

Rather than scream in pain, the man seemed to growl like a rabid monster that had just been hit wit ha stick. Regardless, it gave Pepper more enough opening time for a flurry of more attacks with her palms. She jabbed the glass shards on her hand into him constantly until he fell back against the wall. Pepper hovered over him with a look of satisfaction and approached until the air started to go strange again. The pink air hue in the air receded and suddenly things went dark again. When she came to, Pepper was back on the ground with her goggles on, a series of cracks on her face from when she fell asleep on the floor. The world seemed to be the normal one once more. But now, they had their target. The man with the knife-claws was sitting against the wall, recovering from his own fight in the dream world.

"We found him," Pepper sighed as she pulled herself up from the ground.

Chelvaric walked closer to pepper but everything seemed alright. That was great he was worried she would have been damaged badly by the dragon bite or that she got caught in the dragon fire. But nothing like that sort of happened. He stretched a bit and walked to the place the corpses disappeared. Nothing seemed to have happened to them. He was searching the walls to find anything when he suddenly got surrounded by shadows and held in place. While pepper was being attacked by a guy with claws. He cursed and tried to get loose out of the shadows. He pulled at them and after a short while he broke loose. But he was to late as she just knocked him out. He was happy she achieved a victory.

The dream started to dispense as they got jerked back to reality. Chelvaric felt a cold wet feeling under him as he was laying in the water. Close to them the guy was laying and he was already getting up. Chelvaric pushed himself from the ground the best he could before the guy was up. he made his arms shine blue and not much later electrical coils were attached to them sparking electricity around him. the guy jumped forward with his claws to chelvaric. But chelvaric blocked the attack. He kicked the guy in the groin and was about to hit him in the face when he junped around and slashed over peins back. He cursed and hit his elbow in his face. The guy jumped over chelvaric and punched his claw right in the stomach of him. He cursed as he wasn’t fast enough to block it. the burning pain was hurting his side bad. But the guy had just failed himself. Pein grabbed the arm and bended the claws so that the was stuck. He punched the guy three times in the face stunning him because of the electric charges. He then charged with the guy as far as he could from pepper and crashed him into the wall. He then opened his Nano faults and released all Nano bots he could flying hundred yards around him. he snapped his finger and the whole swarm lighted on fire. A bit to strong as the enemy was being burned alive until he was burned a crisp.

“ah shit I didn’t mean to burn him so much. Well nothing to do about it. seems were done here come lean on me and well go back  to give this in.”, chelvaric said as he threw the burned body on his shoulder and supported on pepper so he wouldn’t fall down as his side was bleeding. Job well done he guessed.
