Chelvaric was pretty useful for dealing with a mob of slavers, but a handful of them managed to break past him. Five, specifically. They did not worry Pepper though; she ordered the slaves, "Stay still." The Rune Knight rushed forward and prepared the attack. As she approached, she pumped magical energy through her body and caused a glass shell to encompass her body. The five men, each wielding a wicked weapon, surrounded her and pounced like wild jackals. Each one landed a single blow with his weapon and each one got the same result--the weapons barely caused a crack in the glass shell. There was an eerie pause next to the cracking noise as the men tried to comprehend what had just happened. Pepper merely stood there in wait as she channeled more magic power through her body. Glass shards began appearing on her body as well as a smile and, suddenly, the glass shards went flying in every direction.
With the men all surrounding her, Pepper managed to avoid hurting the slaves in the attack by allowing her five opponents to take in all the glass. Some of the men screamed from the glass in their eyes while others just gurgled as blood filled their throats from the piercings. They all fell in a similar way though; they fell to their knees and slumped over as they slowly lost consciousness to the black void of blood loss. Pepper kicked one out of her way and smiled. "The justice served to them was too proper." She walked over to the slaves and started working on a way to get them out. From the looks of it, they were all connected by a net of chains on their feet. Since they could at least walk, however, Pepper immediately began ordering them with, "Alright, we're going out the back. Chelveric, sweep the warehouse of anymore slavers!"
Three hundred years from now, in the great fascist state of Fiore, they were still telling tales about Chelvaric and Pepper's undertaking in Hargeon Town. One third grade history teacher was most renowned for telling the tale in his spectacular way. It went something like, "So there they were! Chelvaric was getting beaten black and blue! He was probably bleeding from every possible place on his body. That's when the great Pepper Lynch showed up after helping the poor slaves and wrestled the last of the slavers off Chelvaric. When it was all over, Chelvaric was in tears as he had no way to thank his savior. So he did the only sensible thing kissed her feet right there in the bloody warehouse. Just three days later, he committed seppuku in the Sabertooth guild hall as it was the only way he could return honor to himself."
Okay, granted, that story might have been a little exaggerated and stretched across the centuries, but it would later become the foundation of thousands of legends in Fiore as well as the premise for Pepperism, a religion involving a glass goddess, five hundred years past that. Special parts of Pepperism include the belief that one day the glass goddess and a robot man with saber teeth will one day rise up from the other world and save all people bound by slavery. There would also one day be a Chelly cult in which the followers believed the robot man was actually stronger than the glass godless, but no rational person would believe that so it died out out within a decade of getting started. In fact, it would later be an illegal cult in Fiore at some point in time.
Back to the present time though, Pepper rushed the slaves outside while counting on Chelvaric to keep on sweeping through the warehouse for any more slavers. When they were outside, they were greeted by the immediate foul aroma of more sea salt, although the slaves were more than well adjusted after being hauled across the seas. When they were a couple yards away from the warehouse, pepper began tearing the slaves' chains apart by smashing her palms against the chain connections. The slaves were still relatively frightened but they obeyed orders well enough, especially when Pepper order them to sit still. Some of them did not know whether to actually listen to her or to run off in different directions since many of them had absolutely no idea what was going on. Some of them weren't even certain what country they were in, let alone what town they might be standing around in.
She headed off to check on Chel in the warehouse...
