    Job:

"I've had this dream dozens of times..." Lexa said softly while looking out at the raging tides in the area surrounding Thunder Island. "I'm standing in darkness..." she continued, the seas tossing and turning the small boat as it made its approach, still several miles from shore. "A strong voice calls to me... one I'd never heard before." she says, her childish voice being soft and solemn for what might be the first time ever. "It tells me that 'all that I know, is not what is' but doesn't explain it to me." her voice sounded puzzled as she spoke to no-one, keeping her gaze fixated on Thunder Island. "And for some reason... my heart pulls me here..." she said, sounding slightly puzzled about why; of all places, her instincts would pull her to some desolate island. A blast of lightning slammed next to the boat, causing it to shake violently into a wave that seemed to consume the ship, miraculously not capsizing it. Lexa was holding onto the railing, preventing her from falling overboard; but just barely. Lexa turned into light, reappearing in the same spot with her clothes completely dry as she approached the wheelhouse fr the vessel. "Skippy, you got those things I asked for?" she asked, her voice seeming far more serious than she'd even been before while using her childish tone. "Aye!" the captain responded, walking over to a crate in the corner of the room and tapping a series of buttons. The crate opened from the top, a pillar rising with several items inside. The center of the rectangular pillar pushed out, presenting Lexa with a pair of black swords that began glowing purple when Lexa touched them. She placed them in an 'X' formation on her back, and grabbed another item. This one was a pair of black weapons with the head of a double edged sword, but the grip of a pair of claws. She took it and tucked it into a sheath one her waist before picking up a pair of black, fingerless gloves from the tray and putting them on. "You have my gratitude Nii-san, I know you don't care for me much; but agreeing to come along for this is among the kindest things anyone's ever done for me... so thank you. If I die here, let my guild know how I died, don't bother to bring back my corpse." Lexa said before walking out the door, and waiting for the ship to finally pull onto the beach where a metal ramp would extend to let them onto the island.

Aboard a ship headed through rough waters to one of the most grimly named islands in the sea, a certain gray-haired member of the magical guild Lamia Scale was sailing as his friend gave a rather morbid speech regarding their destination.

Dmitry Kazakov's immediate reply was a smack upside Lexa's head.

"You ain't dyin', stupid..." He said to the girl afterwords. "...and you're not so bad either. Annoying, sure. But I've known worse, so calm down already, spaz; you're makin' me nervous." Dmitry too looked out at the island riddled with lightning bolts, apprehensive about visiting such a place, but willing to go for a friend all the same.

"Besides," he said with the rare, sage-like tone he used every now and again. "I know a thing or two about being drawn to a place, as well as facing something you fear. And I'll tell you now, you're proving yourself braver than me, so far." Dmitry sat on the railing and looked up at the sky, pondering the place he would have to return to when he was ready. "Just...don't make me regret it, alright? Probably a dumb thing to say, now that I think about it." In fact, it seemed like there were quite a few of his friends that had some place they needed to go at some point, for one reason or another. Seikatsu or Niyol, or whatever he was going by these days, hadn't allowed the Gray-haired medium much of an understanding of what he may have been feeling, but Dmitry could tell that they were the same: gifted and yet haunted, guilty of crimes that were out of their hands. He knew that someday, that soul wielder would have to face down his past and who he was, or else it would consume him whole. Dmitry just hoped Niyol would be able to bring himself to do so, for if he couldn't, then young Kazakov had no hope.

Then of course there was Mao, the one who seemed to perplex him to no end. Recently, he had learned some more of the nature of her problem, though it only made him worry all the more. It seemed she didn't want to involve anyone but herself, trying to solve her own problems. Much as he understood the sentiment, Dmitry could bring himself to let her go it alone and he suspected there were many others who felt the same.

It was odd that he found himself wrapped up in so many other peoples problems, despite his reclusive nature.

Lexa's voice, while still child like, was soft and solemn as she said "Don't call me spazz. It's not my name... and thanks for the pep talk." as she began walking down the gangplank. Of all the people she could have called for, it had to be the moody mage from some legal guild. Had it not been for the fact that her guildmates were busy she would have never asked him to come along; but regardless, having anyone along was good. Shortly after Lexa stepped off the ship, she looked in the direction of the treeline, sensing something staring directly at her. Her eyes narrowed, the Sensory Circuits trying to look past the dense foliage and into the shadows to unveil their little intruder. She let out a slight huff and said "Not even 5 minutes and we're already being watched..." her voice telling Dmitry that she wasn't in the mood for making jokes, or having fun here. She stepped forwards a few feet, keeping her deep blue eyes fixated on the bushes. Another sigh was let out and she began walking off into the trees, following a cobblestone path was the only choice she had, that or cut through the surrounding forests if she felt like taking the scenic route. Lexa pulled the necktie from around her collar, wrapping it around her head on top the head band and tied it off as a type of accessory. Some might confuse the gesture as Lexa wanting to keep her hair tied down, or she wanted to look cuter; but the reality was that she wanted to keep her identity tied down. The sound of lightning in the background blurred out some of the sounds of the surrounding forest as she continued on her path, but not all of them. Ever so often she heard screeching, a dreadful sound that could never originate from something docile. The sound didn't throw her off pace, but it did force her to adjust her Sensory Circuits a bit so it wasn't as intense in her ears. Coming across a large, circular platform in her path; Lexa examined the raised edges accompanied by the sounds of something charging through the bushes on the far end of it. "Heads up." Lexa said before converting some of the surrounding light into a pair of wings. She gave a quick flap of them and sent herself upwards, quickly dodging the attack of one of the islands inhabitants.

Dmitry was surprised at how serious she was being, considering her normal behavior. Of course, the term 'normal' must be used lightly, considering what exactly that entails. Still, compared to how she usually was, Lexa was being rather tense, even for being in such a place as the two mages were. Thankfully, do to the many storms he's had to ride out in his time, Dmitry was able to ignore, for the most part, the thunder crashing over head as they moved across the island. However, he found himself unable to ignore the screeching that he kept hearing and that he was certain Lexa was hearing as well, despite her signs of blocking out. Places like this, one had to be on guard,

'A disturbing sound indeed,' the Great Wolf Hati said from the spiritual plane of existence. 'Wouldn't you say, boy?'

'Well, I ain't holdin' your hand, if that's what you're asking...' The mage responded jokingly, though he made a point of reaching down and grabbing the knife tucked into his boot.

Of course, he had noticed the ones following them, being quite experienced in such matters. However, Lexa seemed to have more of a knowledge of what was going on, so Dmitry decided to let her decide when to exchange hunter for hunted. Until such time, the mage would do everything in his power to appear as though he had not the slightest clue that they were being shadowed.

Suddenly, it seemed as though they were now under attack, some thing coming out of the bushes and after the two. Lexa flew out of the way, but Dmitry had another idea entirely. As the beast came out of the bushes, revealing itself to be some form of super-charged horse sprinting at the spirit wielder at top speed, Dmitry quickly stepped to the side when it drew near. Gripping the knife he had earlier tucked into his sleeve, the young man swung the blade of Dark Fang as swiftly as he could, the blade cleaving through the side of the horses neck due to the speed at which it was running. The abnormal creature, losing the ability to control it's velocity thanks to the severing of many arteries, began to tumble and soon crashed hard into a tree, releasing a snapping sound from it's back. Dmitry straightened up and looked about, almost certain that the horse was not the creature following them.

Unfortunately, he couldn't use his sixth sense to find it, considering all this lightning was making it impossible for anything to stand out in the eyes of the spirits, figuratively speaking.

Lexa watched as a horse charged out, covered in electricity. It's mane sparked violently as it flew across the stone platform, but it was far too fast for its own good. The horse was easily killed when Dmitry cleverly used its own speed to make his cut far more volatile than it would have been. Lexa was tracking a sound coming from the brush; it was moving rapidly and getting closer while moving in what sounded like a straight line. She gave a quick sniff in the wind, smelling nothing but the static caused by the island's constant bombardment of lightning. The perpetual thunderstorm was also making it harder for Lexa's ears to pick up the exact direction of the sound. Lexa continued hovering mid are for a few more moments, noting the bushes on her right shaking as a white, tiny hand erupted. Lexa disappeared from sight instantly as a monkey, coated in electricity burst forth from the dense forests surrounding the platform. The monkey's expression was full of rage, it's territorial mindset causing it to believe Lexa and her accomplice were here to take it's property; however, it's expression quickly changed to one filled with shock, pain, fear, and enlightenment. Lexa appeared in four places at once, each spot making a slash at the creature, and at the same time she was also standing on the platform without her wings equipped. The limbs of the monkey fell to the ground, followed by it's dismembered torso with a screaming head attached. The four other Lexa's all faded, revealing the one on the ground to be the true variant. Moving at beyond light speed, the monkey was unable to keep up with its enemy; and from seeing that gap in power it realized that Lexa had the right to claim its territory. The fear, and pain in the creatures eyes did earn some pity from Lexa. This pity was made manifest when she walked up, and rammed the purple glowing, black sword into its head; crushing its skull and killing it on the spot. She quickly flicked the two black blades, gently placing them on her back as she continued walking up the path. Lexa was never the type for mercy, but while she was on this island; she had no intent of giving anything the chance to kill her or her ally. "While we're taking care of personal business..." Lexa said, her voice sounding mature, quite adult like and appropriate for her age. "Your girlfriend, did you ever decide on how you'll help her?" she asked, referring to the time back at Hargeon Port when Lexa'd spied on him talking about who pissed in his coffee. Lexa didn't know the exact details because she too was in a bad mood, and left town before she could actually find out more info.

Dmitry still wasn't entirely sure what the term 'girlfriend' was supposed to mean, but he had come to assume that it was some form of female compatriot.

"To be honest...I really don't know." He said to the young lady, not sure what else to say. "I...learned a bit more about what was going on, but...that still doesn't with all this...weirdness." What Dmitry was saying made little sense, but that was how he felt about the whole mess. He was coming to understand the situation that Mao was in, but what he felt about all of it was becoming more and more muddled as everything progressed. He understood that he wanted to help her, that she was his friend; he had come to know what that means. But something new was emerging, something beyond the compassion he had recently felt towards his new friends.

Dmitry looked up at the sky, watching the lightning dance above lighting up the entire forest with every strike. It was strange to see lightning like this without the usual rain or strong winds accompanying it, as if the heavens were some sort of incomplete picture without them. Thankfully, this place was quite in touch with the natural order, allowing Dmitry to sense where the lightning was most like to strike, even if it still masked the presence of other beings on this island. As he and Lexa began to move through some brush, Dmitry began to notice the amount dead and dry vegetation causing him to look about with concern. His suspicions were confirmed when he found a number of blackened tree stumps and barren patches of earth.

"Look, I don't know what you're gonna do here, but you might wanna make it quick," he said to his small friend, deeming it necessary to warn her about the potential danger here. "This place is a tinder box with no shortage of matches and it's been lit before. Sure you can fly, but I doubt you've seen the kinda smoke that kinda fire pumps out. This might be important to you, but it can't be worth dyin' over." Dmitry grabbed Lexa's shoulder and looked straight into her eyes, giving her that deadly serious look that he reserved for situations that involved his friends lives. "Got it? I don't care what you say, I'm not lettin' you die in here." Like it or not, Dmitry was going to do everything in his power to get her off this island alive, even if that jeopardized her mission here. With that, he pressed on, eager to end this quickly.

Lexa listened as the taller mage began talking, though she didn't fully care for his words. She'd only asked him to come along because she was short on eligible applicants, and he was the only one who could take an ass beating that wasn't busy with exams or getting their ass beat. She was somewhat surprised when she was spun around, only to be met with a pair of exceedingly serious eyes as the man said 'I don't care what you say, I'm not lettin' you die in here.' which nearly caused Lexa to feel something. She began laughing loudly as the man released her and continued their path, marching up the severely damaged steps leading to gods know where. "I'm sorry for laughing when you're trying to be cool, but the fact is you don't know me. You have no reason to care about me, and from what my information states; your personality would mean there's something you have to gain from keeping me alive." She said bluntly, her tone changing from childish to adult mid-message. "If it's information you'll have to pay just like everyone else. If that's a problem, you can turn back and swim, skippy was ordered only to return if I called it in." she said, letting Dmitry know that the two of them get off this rock on her terms. Walking a bit further up, she heard more movement in the bush and stopped. Listening for a few moments, she'd determined it wasn't anything worth worrying about, the footsteps were shaky and the breathing was tense. "Though I should pay you for helping me. If we both survive this I'll help you get one piece of intel, but only one. Your choice on what it is, or when you want it; and yes, free of charge." she said to her partner. Lexa looked up, questioning why in hell she was brought to this island of all places. "There is something strange about this place..." Lexa said in a soft voice. "The official story is some scientists were doing some crazy experiments here, and one day it went belly up. After that, this place never stopped being hit by lightning. I'm sure you already know that, but what I can't understand is why this hell-hole feels... hmm... I can't find the proper word... I guess it feels... comfortable?" Lexa said, confused, but slightly mesmerized by the place. Moving up a small set of stairs, Lexa realized they were standing on another large platform, this one slightly larger than the last. A pair of yellow figures seemed to materialize in the middle of it. For those who've seen Lexa disperse into light, and then reform; the way the two creatures came to be looked exactly the same. "Comfy emotion gone." Lexa said as she drew her swords and disappeared.

Dmitry's frown deepened as Lexa mentioned him getting information out of her, as if it were his price for looking out for her. The spirit mage couldn't blame her though, considering how he use to see people. Not too long ago, he would look at somebody suspiciously if they offered help out of the blew like that, even if they had seemed alright by most standards. To be honest, he still wasn't the type to trust an offer of help from someone he didn't know, well aware of the kind of tricks that people disguise as aid. But this was very different and even if Lexa was a bit obnoxious, Dmitry couldn't help but treat her as a friend at this point.

"I don't need any info or anything else like that." He said to her, deciding to clear up her assumption. "Believe it or not, there're some folks out there that I give a shit about and I'm not all that keen on seeing them die. You're one of those folks, so I've got your back out here whether you like it or not; I don't need you to give some kind of payment." Indeed, it seemed there were more and more people that Dmitry felt this way about all the time, confusing the medium a little. Still, he didn't have much choice but to get used to it and do the best he could to protect those people, even if it was strange of him.

And of course, like clock work, those damn monkeys showed up again. Dmitry sighed and raised his hand in front of him, his eyes taking on their usual silver glow.

"I invoke the World Seprent: Jormangand!" Suddenly, the enormous snake made itself known, appearing straight out of the ground in front of one of the monkeys. The monkey, foolishly believing it could win against Jormangand, ran and leaped at it in an attempt to latch on and bite the serpent or something to that effect. Naturally, said serpent grabbed the creature mid-air as it approached, sinking it's fangs deep inside it before slinging it into a nearby tree with incredible force. By the time the monkey managed to get to it's feet, Dmitry was already in front of it, kicking it aside before it could make another move. Using his Arc of Destiny, he then appeared right next to it as it landed, stomping down on it's neck before twisting his heel just enough to snap the furry little things spine. Dmitry waited a moment after removing his foot to make sure it was well and truly dead, turning over onto it's back to check for any sings of life and finding none to speak of.

Lexa quickly jumped up as a massive snake came out and took care of one of the monkeys, sending it into a tree for its master to be rid of. 'This must be that "summoning magic" that book spoke of...' Lexa thought while looking at the smoky snake. She probably saw it before, when Lexa and Dmitry took down Lillith in the Haunted Village way back when; but for some reason she couldn't remember the man properly. The only reason she knew to invite him for this charade was by reading through various mission logs she had stored in her room, and coming across the name on the Lillith job. Lexa remembered fighting Lillith, using the combination of reflecting attacks to defeat her. She remembered the name Dmitry, and she remembered he belonged to Lamia Scale. But she couldn't remember the face, the voice, or the attitude behind the name. The second monkey flew at Lexa, preparing to deliver a fist full of electricity to her face. The monkey was extremely surprised when Lexa's expression changed from surprise, to confidence. The small fist was only an inch from Lexa when it stopped, being held in place by a crimson magic circle with a series of squares in the first ring, a series of letters in the second ring, and a strange marking in the very middle. The fist ceased its electrical sparking, and stopped glowing as well which gave way to the monkey looking at Lexa as it was still suspended in air. A blast of light shot out from the magic circle, courtesy of Lexa's Perdition Barrier. The energy released was so powerful it tore a hole straight through the monkey's heart and sent it flying backwards, flopping on the floor like a wet mop head. Looking back at Dmitry, she saw the other monkey dead and he was looking back at her. Her eyes softened to a puzzled look, the concept of anyone doing something free of charge was impossible for her to understand, but he said he won't charge so she accepted his word. She looked at the ground while walking next to him up the next set of steps, her only response after a full five minutes was "You're weird." delivered with a saddened, yet adult sounding voice. Her using her real voice for so long was strange, as if the very childhood was sucked out of Lexa; causing her to feel empty.

Changing Tides Empty Re: Changing Tides

Post by Benjamin 8th December 2015, 11:20 pm

Dmitry looked back at Lexa as she released an enormous blast of raw light, tearing straight through one of the little bastards.

"Well, that's one way to deal with a pest...I suppose." Dmitry hadn't actually seen anything like that and couldn't help but be impressed with the excess of such an attack, even if it was a little exposing. After that, they moved on in silence, the grayer of the two being unaware of how awkward that should feel. In truth, he was actually quite happy with the lack of spasmodic jibber-jabber that usually came out of the blonde girl's mouth, that talking being the bane of his existence when she was around. But this time, for some odd reason, her trap was shut. Of course, most people would realize the meaning behind this silence, understanding that people's behaviors don't simply change at the drop of a dime without something being wrong. Dmitry was not most people.

    Dmitry was far more dense.

"Eh? Oh..." Was the response from this paragon of sensitivity and kindness. "Yeah, I've heard that before..." It was about this time that Dmitry realized that Lexa sounded a bit off, aware of her normal behavior. "Hey, uh...you alright. You seem a bit...off." Obviously, this was a poor choice of words, considering the person in question. However, due to his own odd personality, Dmitry was unaware of how the statement sounded. Nonetheless, he new full well the kind of foolish decisions people were capable of making under great mental strain and he wouldn't let her do the same, having been there himself. "Look, whatever you're thinkin' about doin', think twice alright? Don't do somethin' stupid cause you feel cornered. I know what happens when you do that." He wasn't exaggerating. Dmitry made the single regretful decision of his life out of sheer grief and he didn't want to see that happen to someone he cared about, no matter how annoying they might be. Still, that depended on whether or not he could get through to her when the time came, whenever that time came. It was unclear to him whether he could do that, especially since he had no idea what it was that linked her to this island and what it was that pushed her to behave in such a drastically different manner from how she normally was.

'Don't put too much on your own shoulders, boy,' Hati said to his pupil, knowing how concerned he was. 'In the end, she be the one who chooses her fate.'

((OOC: I added an extra boss because we need filler...))

"I'm fine." Lexa said in response to Dmitry's little lecture. "You don't have to worry about me intentionally getting myself killed, I've got some other 'things' I needa deal with first. And I never feel cornered, because there's always a way out." Lexa said, her voice still far more serious than she'd normally allow it to be. She let out a sigh, making her attempt at purging all negative thoughts from her mind as she knew they'd only serve to distract her. "You said you wanna get out of here as soon as possible... Talking about our personal feelings, or state of mind won't make it happen." She said, her voice still in the same adult tone it had been the whole time. The only difference with Lexa was that she seemed sure that she wanted to make it off this rock, and back to the comfort of her room. "Also sorry if I offended you earlier by questioning your... generosity. I'm in a bounty hunting guild, nothing, not even my apartment in the hall is free." Lexa said with an earnest tone. "Shit, speaking of which I still gotta pay rent..." she said under her breath, finally remembering that it was due in two days. Lexa heard rustling in the brush near them, turning her head she saw a set of vines moving towards her legs. Jumping back, Lexa was caught off guard when the vines lashed out and wrapped themselves around her legs. She let off a shrill scream of terror as her beloved blades slipped from their sheaths and onto the ground when a sudden jerk pulled her into the bushes. The monster charged out of the bushes, waving Lexa around violently while letting off a horrendous scream. It was made of multiple vines that it used as feet to walk about, all converging and spinning around a central point. There were a multitude of smaller vines it used as hands, or whips and four of the twenty or so were holding Lexa upside down, her skirt being pulled by gravity revealing some of her undergarments. Lexa looked up, or down if you were standing on the floor, and looked at a massive flower shaped head with a large mouth inside it. The mouth was filled to the brim with razor sharp teeth as it let off another scream. Lexa was dropped into the mouth, using quick thinking she turned into a flurry of light particles and reappeared next to Dmitry holding her two blades. "If you tell anyone they're striped, I'll personally kill you." she stated plainly, figuring her partner had seen her panties.

Post by Benjamin 11th December 2015, 9:00 pm

    "Uh...huh?"

That was the grand and eloquent response of Sir Kazakov, master of words and lord of decorum. He had simply stood there, watching as the odd and somewhat disturbing scene played out in front of him, not sure what there was that he could do to solve...whatever just happened.

"Look, Spaz, the pattern on your under-breeches is the last thing on my mind right now." Dmitry said, more concerned with...that thing in front of them. "Hell, by the end of this trip, I probably won't even remember what they looked like...probably." That being said, Dmitry stood back as Jormangand bore down on the tentacley cur, unfettered by its appendages as it sunk it's fangs into the thing's body. Unfortunately, it managed to wrap it's tendrils around the serpent's own body and began squeezing, attempting to crush it. However, as spirits felt no physical pain, Jormangand's maw only closed tighter on the monster, releasing only after the snakes physical form vanished into thin air. By the time that happened, Dmitry was already next to the creature, knife drawn and ready to attack. The mage swung his blade and released a wave of pure, manifested darkness at the irritating pustule, tearing into it and causing it to release a loud, squealing sound. Shortly after that, Dmitry felt the air quickly leave his diaphragm as a tentacle hit him hard in the stomach, sending him back about seven feet.

Shaking off the weariness of impact just in time to avoid one of the gangly limbs attempting to make a new sphincter in his lung, young Kazakov rolled over and shot up to his feet, weaving left and right to avoid tentacles on his way towards the young, underage-looking girl.

Nothing wrong with this scene whatsoever.

Without stopping, (or thinking for that matter) Dmitry grabbed little Lexa's shirt with his right hand and her skirt with the other, before spinning once and slinging her into the air as far as he could. Thankfully, as she was extremely light, the tiny girl managed to get a good distance.

"Get airborne, Blondie!" He shouted as he put his hand to the ground, closing his eyes. "I invoke the Spirit of Earth..." As Dmitry looked up at his foe, his pupils now giving off a dark yellow glow and his irises once again black as night. "...Gnome!"

Suddenly, the ground beneath him and the thing in front of him began to shake uncontrollably. wracking it's body and throwing it completely off balance, though Dmitry retained perfect footing.

Lexa stopped listening as soon as Dmitry called her 'spazz' again, and continued blocking him out until not too much later when he charged in, to fight the vine monster. Lexa decided to use this time to begin pooling shadow energy into her fists, and light energy into her feet. She flicked her swords and placed them back on her back. Closing her eyes, she began pooling the light and darkness where they needed to be, causing a small stream of light to appear around her leading to her feet. On the floor was a stream of darkness, the shadow of the large creature that was being pooled to her hands. Watching as the large snake burst into smoke, Lexa got ready to move but remained still as she waited for her opening. Suddenly, Lexa was grabbed and thrown into the air as Dmitry told her to get airborne. Not knowing why, she did as advised and donned her pair of white, feathered wings that had large blue, glowing circuit board marks on it. She saw the creature swaying side to side, attempting to keep balance as the ground began shaking violently. In the midst of all this, a massive bolt of lightning came down, slamming into the large flower monster causing it to release a horrendous shriek of pain. Shielding her eyes from the intensity of the resulting light, Lexa didn't see what had full happened; but only knew that lightning strike was a severe stroke of luck as she had nothing to do with it. Moving her arm, she saw the creature frozen in place, sparks of electricity moving up its body with all of its vines completely burnt from the immense energy that racked its way through the monster's body. Her eyes focused in as Lexa began flying as fast as possible towards the creature. First the rammed her fist into its trunk, causing a crater to appear from the force of it. A shadow erupted from the ground, engulfing the creature and Lexa. Soon after a light crashed down from the heavens, as Lexa had appeared above the monster and rammed her heal into its body. The power of the two forces colliding created pure chaos in the area, this power was all it took to literally convert the almighty tentacle vine monster into a pile of shredded vegetation with Lexa standing in the middle panting heavily. "And you..." Lexa said, her voice brimming with irritation. She immediately burst into light, reappearing at the exact same instance with her fist only a few inches from Dmitry's stomach but making sure she didn't hit him, doing so would hurt him or worse. "Don't fucking call me spazz. My name's Lexa, get that shit straight." She said, her voice low and excessively angry, giving off the fact that she was forcing herself not to hurt her own partner.

Two seconds before the fist stopped short of Dmitry's stomach, as he expected, the medium suddenly vanished and appeared directly behind Lexa before walking along the trail the two had originally set out on.

"Whatever you say, shorty." He said, not even looking back at her. "Now can we get on with this, that last bolt was proof enough that we need to get on with this." With that, Dmitry picked up his pace on the pathway, the lightning and thunder continuing to dance about in the back ground. It was as though this were some kind of twisted play and the display was an orchestra that matched the events on stage, setting the mood for what would ultimately be a tragic tale. Dmitry hoped deep in the farthest reaches of his heart that this would not be the case. Despite his own tragic past, he had no recollection of the people he knew were lost to him, leaving him quite vulnerable to grief of death.

'Didn't I tell you not to worry so much, boy?' Came the voice of the Great Wolf, once again scolding his pupil. 'None of this is your choice; you cannot dictate the outcome.'

Dmitry absentmindedly shook his head. 'That's exactly why I'm pissed off, old man. I can't do anything to stop her from doing something stupid.' He knew full well that when Lexa got something into her head, there was no stopping her. The gray-hair just hoped that this trait wasn't about to get one of his few friends killed. The thunder ceaselessly raged about in skies, reminding Dmitry of his childhood so many years before.

    [Flashback]

    Seven years ago:

In a remote forest, somewhere within the nation of Fiore, a massive storm ensued. In a small cave within these soaked woods, a small, gray-haired boy at eleven years of age huddled against a wall, trying his best to conserve his body heat after the drenching he just suffered. The boy's mismatched eyes were narrow slits as he desperately tried to hang onto all the thermal energy he could.

"D-damnit all!" The boy cursed, still shivering from the chill. "Th-that stupid shower c-came out of n-n-nowhere!"

'Easy boy,' the child's guardian said to him. 'There's no point at quarreling with the rain. It cares very little with what you think anyway. Simply take off that wet coat and go a bit deeper into the cave. It'll likely get warmer as you go.'

The boy removed his coat and looked into the cave, somewhat weary of going further.

"There better not be a bear in there..."

    [End Flashback]

Noticing the man appearing behind her, Lexa felt even less respect for him. His comment doing nothing more than pissing her off further. 'Any more of this shit and I'll just do this on my own, leave his ass to die here.' she thought to herself. Moving further along at the head of the group, Lexa decided not to talk for fear the asshole behind her would reply, and lose his head as a result. That said, Lexa also prepared to completely dissipate and move on with the task without him to avoid having friendly fire on her somewhat seamless record. She stopped abruptly, her eyes scanning the world about as she heard a single rustle in the brush. Lexa heard the faintest of sounds and immediately turned into light. Out of the bushes, a dark figure was launched across the path and into a nearby tree where Lexa reappeared with one of her blades drawn. One hand was at the spine of the blade to keep it straight, the other at the bottom of it to apply enough force to drive it through. Stopping the black and purple weapon as it tapped on her target's chest, Lexa's eyes grew extremely wide. "L-Lillian!?" Lexa said in absolute shock. "I- I- I'm s-so sorry Lexa! I just w-wanted to come with you!" the soft, gentle and concerned voice of the young child hit her like a freight train. Lexa gently pulled the sword from the girl's sternum and gently slid it back into its sheathe. "Damnit 'Lil, I told you to stay at the guild hall. How the hell'd you get away from Nova!?" she yelled at the small girl as the frightened child, having never disobeyed Lexa before was covering her ears, avoiding eye contact, and hunching into the tree she was recently pinned to. "I- I- I- I knocked her out a-a-and stowed away on the b-boat with you." She admitted, terrified of what Lexa would do to her knowing that. Lexa's magic circuits began to flare up, this time appearing black in color, causing Lillian to scream in fear. Her circuits ceased glowing, causing the spots where the markings appeared to let off some steam as Lexa let out a deep breath. She turned to Dmitry, irritation still in her eyes. "Look asshole, this is my little sister Lillian. Address her with proper damn respect, AND HER PROPER NAME or your cute pets won't be nearly enough save you! Next, she's my top priority. You get lynched, I won't care; I'm getting her home if it kills you." Lexa said matter of factly, establishing what will go down in only the way an actual mother would. Behind Lexa, Lillian stepped forwards and gave a respectful bow to the man "V-very n-nice to meet you Mr. Dmitry." the shy girl said. At that moment, another sound was heard in the bushes; Lexa's first instinct was to pull Lillian behind her with one hand as she reached for her sword with the other prepared to put mother bears to shame.

Post by Benjamin 12th December 2015, 2:58 pm

Dmitry tried his best to stifle a laugh as yet another comedy played out in front of him, starring young Grimoire and an intrepid little stowaway. Despite what common opinion would likely conclude, the gray-hair had a bit of a soft side when it came to children, though it was unclear as to the reason for this compassion. Ignoring Lexa's words of warning, especially the bit about pets, Dmitry knelt down to the young, timid girl with an unusually warm smile on his face.

"What's up Lily?" He said to the girl, pushing away a lock of hair from in front of her eye with his finger. "You doin' alright, little lady? Not scared or nothin'? Look, don't you worry 'bout your sister. I'm not leavin' this place unless the both of you are gettin' out too, okay." With that, Dmitry patted the side of her shoulder and stood up just in time to clothes-line a flying monkey. "Now, you might wanna stand back a bit, least till we get this taken care of." Shortly after he said that, his face was attacked by that same monkey, knocking him to the ground. After socking it in the gut, he managed to toss the little simian off before getting over top of it and punching it in the face five times, an act that may seem to others a bit...odd, to say the least.

Another monkey fist struck Dmitry's chin, releasing a small charge of electricity which sent him back onto his rear-end. The little bastard then decided to hop up and attack his face once again, his back hitting the ground once more. Having finally lost his temper due to this ridiculous situation, Dmitry grabbed both of the monkey's arms and bit down on it's right shoulder, drawing a bit of blood and eliciting a high pitch shriek from the primate. As it's grip loosened due to the pain of the mage's teeth, it was flung into a tree, a little dizzy upon landing. Before it could get back up, Dmitry's foot slammed it's head back into the dirt, finally knocking it out cold.

Wiping the blood off of his mouth form the monkey bite, he looked back over at Lillian with the warm look he had before the furry bastard attacked.

"See? Right as rain." Dmitry said, before he saw the other thing that came out of the bushes, his expression changing to one of irritation.

    "Ah, shit..."

Post by Lexa Grimoire 12th December 2015, 7:03 pm

Lexa's watched Dmitry as he kneeled down, eyeing him like an overly protective mother bear. She saw him pat the young girl's shoulder, giving some type of look that was a bit gentler than his usual demeanor. Even though his words were gentler towards Lillian, it didn't stop the child from moving aside a bit as the hand touched her, even cringing as the pat was half done. A monkey flew out of nowhere, slamming its tiny neck on Dmitry's arm out of sheer luck; or un-luck in the monkey's direction and then entering full on combat with the man. After their fight, Lexa felt the need to say something sarcastic and witty, but she suppressed it out of a greater need to set a decentish example for her younger sister. It was then that they heard a clicking in the bushes, one that was getting louder. Pretty soon, the source made itself known as a platypus, an abnormally large one at that walked out. It had electricity sparking down its body, and its eyes were bright yellow as it glared not at Dmitry or Lillian, but directly at Lexa. Lillian slowly walked over to the larger man and gently gave a couple tugs at his coat. "Ummm... M-m-misty Dm-mitwy... I think y-you should let Lex-a h-handle this one." she said shakily, terrified of offending the large man and him angrily bashing her face in as a result. She kept her hands at her chest and her eyes to the ground the whole time, trying to make herself as small a target as possible while still standing up right. A massive blast of light was seen, Lexa's immediate response was to put both hands out. She knew the creatures on this island were warped... stronger than average even so she quickly mixed her Perdition Barrier with her Reflect spell, creating a reflective barrier that would take even more damage than before. The blast of electrical energy hit the barrier, but due to the raw power behind it, Lexa began to slide back. Lexa grit her teeth and began pushing on the barrier mixture, trying her hardest to prevent either from shattering as a bead of sweat rolled down her face. The immense light grew more intense, blinding even to Lexa who was essentially a light mage herself and then the light exploded. The temperature of the surroundings began much warmer, the horrendous sound of the lightning storm above was blotted out, and a great winds blasted through the area causing Lillian to fly back and hit the tree behind her. Lexa was tossed backwards, but fell directly to the floor instead of being tossed like a rag doll. When she looked up, the platypus had a massive, smoldering hole running from where its bill was seared off, all the way deep inside its body but not exiting it. It hit the floor, limp as a noodle and dead as can be. Lillian, not caring for her own sake, ran over to Lexa and kneeled down next to her. Lexa leaned up, resting her hand on Lillian's head causing the small child to flinch as per the usual but soon relaxing as Lexa began rubbing. A few moments later, Lexa stopped and got up, extending a hand and helping her younger sister do the same. "You walk between us. Dmitry, I needa keep 'Lil in my sights so you go up front. Satilite scans at the guild show there's a cave at the end of this path with some boulders in front it. This path ends at it, and is a lot safer than going through the woods; sorry I didn't tell ya before." Lexa said to their partner, having a slightly less annoyed voice considering as he wasn't a prick towards her sister.

Dmitry's smile returned at the sound of Lexa's voice, as it was far less course than before, showing that she was cheering up a bit.

"Don't worry about it, Blondie," he said, having not expected anything in the first place. "Way I figure it, this is your show; I don't gotta know everything. Long as I can make sure you stay livin'." He then turned to Lillian, warm face from earlier reappearing on his features. "That means you too, kiddo. Stay behind me like your sis said and I'll make sure you don't get hurt, deal?" After her reply, held out his hand again.

"I invoke the Twin Ravens: Huginn! Muninn!" Appearing from nowhere, the smoke-like birds flew into the sky to observe the path ahead. If anything that he would register as 'unfriendly' barred the group's way, Dmitry would know about it ahead of time and would act accordingly. After his recon system was up in the air, the medium began to walk forward at a moderate pace, careful not to get ahead of himself and get too close to something before he could react in time.

"Oh, and Lily," Dmitry said to get the attention of the little girl. "You don't gotta call me Mister, Dmitry's fine. Hell, Mister actually sounds a little weird for some reason..." After that, Dmitry walked in silence for most of the way, thinking about his childhood. More specifically, he pondered on the missing portion of his life, one that he foolishly cast aside out of sheer grief. He wondered if, among the many faces of those people he had forgotten, there was a sister or even a brother. The idea of having any kind of sibling was something he had no experience with and the thought was an interesting one, regardless of the likelihood that such a thing were the case. And even if he did have such a person before, they were most likely dead like all the rest. Indeed, the chances of anyone besides him surviving that massacre were slim, his own salvation being the result of a fluke. Dmitry decided not to dwell on such a subject, considering all that thinking about brothers and sisters didn't help him in the slightest when it came to the people he knew he had, people he could still protect.

Just as he was closing off these thoughts, he felt a pulse from within his mind, letting him know the Ravens had found something. He focused his thoughts into the sentries so that he could see through their eyes, allowing him to monitor the enemy ahead.

    "Head's up, we got somethin'..."

Lexa looked ahead as Dmitry said 'Head's up, we got somethin'...' at the sound of some rustling in the brush ahead of them. Lexa grabbed the handle of her blades, eyes narrowing in on the spot as she got ready to disperse into light at the exact last second it showed just how big or small it was. The first leg came out, long and thin, covered in pure white fur with no true speed behind it. A large fox, easily twice Lexa's size and its head towering over Dmitry himself stepped out. It's fur, pure white and it had nine tails instead of just one. The tips of the tails were coated in blue flames that scorched the bushes lightly as they came through, but the leaves were too moist to be ignited from a few seconds in the fire. It continued walking out slowly keeping its head held high. The mutli-tailed fox stopped just shy of the group's point man. Lillian backed up, pressing herself into Lexa who instinctively wrapped her arms around her with an angrier look on her face than she'd ever had before. "I am the god of flames, Atra-" the large fox began talking in a deep voice, only be interrupted by Lexa's childish endearment for all things fox shaped "FOX!!!!!" Lexa screamed, immediately bursting into light and reappearing on the large fox's back while hugging its neck. "What!? G-get off human!" the large creature shouted. Lillian began giggling at the sight of something so large being moshed by someone so small. Lillian ran up, jumping and landing on Dmitry's shoulder for a brief second, pushing off again and grabbing the fox's neck before spinning and hauling herself up and onto the beast's back. It began spinning around, trying to make the two dizzy. Lexa and Lillian both began laughing uncontrollably. The fox with flaming tails stopped spinning and began huffing as it tried to catch its breath. "What... are you things?" it asked with an exhausted tone. "I'm Lexa! This is my baby sister Lillian!" Lexa shouted, sounding more energetic than she had the whole time. "Will you get off?" it asked feeling rather annoyed. Lexa shook her head and Lillian pulled herself into the 'gods' neck, hugging it tightly. He let out a sigh, too tired to make another attempt at tossing them off. "What will it take to get you off? Money? Power? Please for the love of all things holy don't say-" "You have to be our pet!" Lillian shouted, this being the loudest she'd ever been even though her voice was still quite soft, just a bit more audible than normal. "I refuse." the fox stated plainly. "Then we won't get off." Lexa said, smiling from ear to ear. The fox let out a sigh and began glowing, the glowing spot got smaller and smaller, as did the fox. After several moments, the fox was only 2 feet high, and Lexa and Lillian were on the floor. Lexa bent down and grabbed the fox, picking it up and smiling. "Release me human!" he demanded, only to be met with Lexa smiling and telling Dmitry "We spent too much time here, let's keep going" with her adult tone. While they returned to their original formation the fox shouted "I AM ATRACREMA THE GOD OF FLAMES AND I DEMAND YOU LET ME GO!!!!! YOU THERE, HUMAN BOY, HELP!!!! THIS IS MADNESS, MADNESS I SAY!!!" thought it was apparent Lexa had no intention of letting go.

This time, even Dmitry couldn't help but laugh at the situation, a being of divinity being reduced to a fluffy playmate. And though it was surprising to see Lillian leaping onto and off of his shoulder like another one of those damn monkeys, he was pretty impressed with how high she got.

"Yes Ma'am." He said, despite the fact that she was the cause of their delay.

"And you, I don't need her gettin' all weird and angry on me again, so be nice or you're gonna get a new leash." One shouldn't ask how Dmitry would make said leash, simply know that he could happen. Still, it was definitely a good thing to see the girl at least somewhat back to her old self, even if it only lasted a short while. It would be a shame for Lexa to stay the way she was earlier, the state of mind seeming quite unnatural to Dmitry. As much as the spasmodic blonde annoyed the wretched hell out of him, he couldn't deny that she had grown on him and that he much preferred that version.

But there was still a matter to attend to on the island and seeing it done was still a priority, seeing as this island wasn't the least bit safe. With that in mind, Dmitry continued to move forward and took point for the rest of what was now a group of four. As usual, one could hear the thunder screaming overhead, chasing the flash of lightning as the heavens put on their show. Every crunch under his foot made Dmitry more anxious to get himself and every one else in the group off of this deathtrap, it's status as a forest fire waiting to happen increasing with every step. It wasn't as bad before, considering they were much closer to shore and could sprint for water if they absolutely had no other choice. However, they were now much farther inland and surrounded by dense woods, increasing the odds of them being trapped in the middle of an inferno.

Just as Dmitry was dwelling on this, another pulse made it's way through his mind. Once again, he honed in on Huginn and Muninn's sense of sight, allowing him to spot two figures lurking up ahead. Unfortunately, the area they were in was well covering and shielded from the surrounding thunder claps, making it impossible for Dmitry to see if they were hostiles.

"Bad news," he said to the others. "I got two more up ahead, but I can't tell what they are. Blondie, you might wanna check it out, maybe light the place up a little."

Looking ahead, it was a rather long, natural tunnel formed by the trees curving over the path the three, now four man group was traversing. Lexa walked up to Lillian and set the fox in her arms, which she gently held trying to make sure she didn't crush him. "Excuse me, but I believe I specifically said I refuse to become some mortal's p- oh my..." Atracrema began protesting, soon switching to a rather pleased voice as Lillian began rubbing his head. He tried resisting, but in the end it was a futile attempt. Lexa walked up ahead just a little bit, tuning her ears in the direction of the tunnel. As strong as her senses were, the sound of thunder combined with lightning constantly slamming the ground off in the distance made it harder to hear. She heard a distinctive slapping on the ground, accompanied by a type of high pitched sound that got louder, but lower pitched. "Shit!" Lexa screamed as she threw her hands up, mixing both of her barrier again just in time for the mixture to be bombarded by a massive burst of energy. Lexa slid back several feet, her being taken by surprise prevented her from getting proper footing even though she knew the attack was coming at the last second. She managed to barely keep both feet on the ground, going so far as to angle her body into the attack so it would act as a type of brace in an attempt to not get thrown into the air. Finally her sliding slowed down some as Lexa dug her heels into the floor a bit more, having to press her hands against her own reflection barrier mixture just to be able to apply enough weight to stop her movement. "Dmitry!" She shouted, holding her barrier up as best she could. Lexa watched from the corner of her eye as one of the island's seemingly abundant primates shot out with a fist full of lightning with a postage stamp, addressed to be delivered to Lexa's face. Her eyes grew narrow, but soon grew even more surprised as she saw a silver dagger fly past her face and into the monkey's stomach with so much force behind it that it went through to the other side of the small creature, and sent it flying and pinned to a tree. Lexa's eyes quickly shot back in Dmitry's direction, seeing Lillian not only with Atracrema set on the floor, but also in a position that let her know that she threw the dagger. She had a stern look about her, contrasting her normally jumpy expression. Her eyes softened up as she'd realized what she just did, and then she walked to the newly obtained pet fox and picked it up again while keeping her eyes to the ground. Meanwhile, Lexa continued holding the barrier up, barely being able to stand while doing so. Upon Dmitry killing the platypus, the barrier would fall backwards on Lexa, sending the burst of electricity directly into the sky as Lexa was thrown to the ground.

Dmitry looked up as the noise approached him with great velocity, bearing down on him in seconds. Before he could even make out what it was, the blast of magic energy wiped him off of the earth, his body completely disintegrating in it's wake.

As soon as the vision passed, the way they always did, began dashing backwards as fast as he could. Soon after, the explosion he saw hit the ground, shaking the earth. Dmitry felt a wave of heat and magical power as his feet left the ground, the gray haired medium soaring through the air.

"SHIIIIIIIIIIT!" The shout was heard as the mage took flight like some sort of scorched bird, hit the ground and skipping a bit before rolling into a tree, back first of course.

"Ahhhh, horse cock." Dmitry groan as he got up, holding his back and his arm...and his leg...and his arm...and his neck. "Damnit all! I'm gonna have to see one of them gyro-tractors or some such shit." He then looked through the eyes of Huginn and Muninn, lining them up with the platypus from hell. Soon, the avian death squad turned into a pair of knives and speared the platypus in both of his lungs, causing him to cough up blood and stumble a bit. As the strange looking thing struggled to breath, Dmitry got to the best running start his battered body could muster. In response to the incoming threat, despite it's difficulty breathing, the platypus fired a few more consecutive shots at the mage. However, these were a great deal lesser in both power and velocity, allowing Dmitry to jump left and right in between shots. One of these shots managed to get right above his head, too close to dodge. Yet the bomb seemed to hit nothing but air, as Dmitry appeared just above the platypus, knife drawn and at the ready. As the furious mage landed on top of the bombardier, he drove the blade known as Dark Fang into the beasts right eye, causing it to screech in between coughing fits until Dmitry released the malevolence stored within the blade, a stream of darkness tearing through the brain cavity and out through the things face. Naturally, all movement ceased.

    Well, almost all of it.

As soon as the platypus stopped moving, Dmitry fell clean off of it's back and rolled across the ground, stopping with his face pointed at the ground.

Lexa slowly got up, looking at her hands as a cut appeared in her palms and began bleeding. "I pushed myself too far..." she said in a soft, disappointed tone. Lillian immediately ran up to Lexa, setting down Atracrema again and tossing herself into hugging Lexa while crying. The thought of watching her only family, or the closest thing she had to family left in this world dying was far too overwhelming for her to not burst into tears. "Hey now... what's with the cryin' hun?" Lexa said softly, making sure not to hug Lillian with her bleeding hands. "I thought you were gonna die!" Lillian shouted with her face buried in Lexa's chest. "You're not allowed to die!" she said while lifting her head from Lexa, looking her big sister in the eyes. Lexa let off a bit of laughter, causing Lillian's eyes to turn irritated. "I won't die, at least not here. If I were gonna die I'd just dissipate and appear somewhere safer." Lexa said with a smile on her face, trying to keep her true feelings buried. In all honesty, she was overjoyed that Lillian was mad at her, almost enough to make her cry too. Lexa used a knuckle to move the tears from Lillian's face, saying "Common, let's get Dmitry taken care of." with a cheerful, almost motherly voice. Lillian stood up, still sobbing with some tears escaping her eyes of their own volition. Lexa rested on her knuckles and pushed off the floor, walking over to Dmitry. Atracrema, beginning to get curious about his new master decided to follow behind. Looking down at the taller man, laying on his stomach Lexa placed her hand on his back. "Move and this is as liable to kill you as it is to help you." she said with a calm voice. A golden light flowed from Lexa to Dmitry, covering him in a warm light that would begin healing any wounds of his, as well as restoring some of his magic power. It took a few moments, but Lexa made the barrier strong enough to where she din't need to maintain it constantly. She stood up and said "Kay, you can move now." with her adult voice. She turned her hands and looked at the blood falling. "What sucks is that doesn't work on me..." she said, knowing for a fact that she was already pushing her limits.

Post by Benjamin 17th December 2015, 10:46 pm

After he heard the warning from Lexa, Dmitry stayed still as he was told. Soon, he felt a strangely warm sensation washing over him, light the sun on a cloudless, summer day. For a moment, Dmitry thought he was sleeping on top of rooftop back in Hargeon, ignoring the complaints of some shopkeeper. I was around this time that his ribs began correcting themselves, ruining that peaceful moment.

"Ah! Bleeding tits, that hurts!" The mage shouted as his bones reconnected, putting him under a great deal of pain. "Yeah, don't worry about, ow, bout me. I'm fi- AH, PRICK BASTARD!" Dmitry couldn't help but curse loudly as the 'healing process' continued, making him wonder what kind of shape he'd be in after it was over.

'Oh, quit complaining boy,' Hati said, with no small amount of amusement. 'You've been through far worse than this, haven't you?'

'Damnit old man, I would give my left nut for you to feel pain you decrepit fuck!' Even his inner voice had a foul mouth right now. Granted, the wolf spirit was right; Dmitry had gone through far more intense pain in his life up until now, even before he joined Lamia Scale. However, now was certainly not the time to bring that up, as it did nothing to make him feel better.

Finally, the pain ceased and the mage was aloud to move, though that didn't necessarily mean he wanted to. Considering the day he'd been having, he was liable to simply stay there and sleep the rest of the day, giving his aching bones a rest after dealing with the platy-pussy. However, he was the one who said they needed to move quickly and that fact still remained, the likelihood of a forest fire no less likely than it was when they started this trip. Slowly he got to his feet, wounds healed but pain remaining all the same.

"Couldn't you be gentle with me?" He said, not bothering to hide the ache in his voice. It was then that he noticed the wounds on his partner's hands, causing him to sigh loudly and reach into one of his coat pockets. "Alright, come here." The mage turned medic said as he unrolled the gauze he was holding. "Hold still now, this might sting a bit." He then began wrapping the wounds on Lexa's hands, using the experience gained from a decade of self treatment. After he was done, he took a step back to look over his work.

"There we go," Dmitry said, satisfied with the job he did. "It ain't no fancy magic healing, but it'll help keep it from getting infected, long as you don't fiddle with it."

Post by Lexa Grimoire 17th December 2015, 11:42 pm

Lexa winced as her hands were bandaged, still feeling pretty bad about that fact that this was the extent of her power. The so called 'best member of Omen' couldn't hold her own against a platypus. Granted it was a massive, genetically altered platypus from hell that fired lightning lasers from its mouth; Lexa didn't like the fact that it was able to keep her held back. "If I was any gentler, I'd run the risk of fusing every bone and joint in your body..." she said, her voice sounding a bit depressed. "Sorry... I'm not that good a mage." she said while looking at the bandaged hands with a sullen expression. Lexa looked at Lillian, noting the small child was standing a bit strangely. "Lillian; did you sleep at all on that boat ride?" she asked calmly. "N-no... it was too bumpy." she responded. Lexa grabbed her hand and walked over to a tree. "Dmitry, Lillian's gonna need to rest for a couple hours. I'm not built for nearly constant fighting, so I'll need rest eventually may as well nap now while our situation allows it." Lexa said. "N-no, I'm -yawn- I'm fine to keep going." Lillian said, her voice didn't reflect it. Lexa sat down, pulling Lillian next to her and laying the small child's head on her. "No you're not. You need your rest." Lexa said gently. Lexa began rubbing the small girl's head while humming softly to her, it was a slow but warm feeling song that she knew made Lillian feel at east. "But... a good..." Lillian began saying, her eyes beginning to close. "A good assassin knows when to stop pushing their limits, and pull back." Lexa said, knowing that Lillian wanted to say 'A good assassin can go days without rest.' which wasn't necessarily wrong, but it didn't apply to all of the good ones. Atracrema walked over to the two and laid on Lexa and Lillian's lap. "If you insist on forcing me into this, at least have the dignity to- oh... oh yes, that's the stuff!" he said, sounding rather bitchy at first but becoming rather pleased when Lexa began scratching his head. Soon the scratching stopped as Lexa's head went limp and her eyes shut, her consciousness fading from the real world to the dream world. Atracrema's tail ceased its waving as the scratching stopped, him making a sound that gave off the 'why'd you stop?' kind of feeling. He addressed Dmitry, saying "The weird one has a point human, rest will do you well. But first; exactly what is she? The older one that is." with an interested tone.
