Caretakers [Kiku]

A baby, huh? Shouldn't be too bad, right?

With a soft hint of a yawn passing by the woman's pink tinted lips, she kept to a string of thoughts while walking beside her partner for the day again - Kiku. The man was now not only that but her boss now that she took up being a waitress for the guild, and here she was out and about on her birthday - doing a job with him. There were no complaints surfacing about or anything of the sort; it was quite the opposite. She rather preferred being out here on her birthday, and helping others was a beneficial bonus for everyone.

Reaching the doorstep of the client's household - Katy - Shu gently rapped her fists against the wooden surface of the door before turning to the man beside her. "How are you fairing today, Kiku? All's well, I hope?", she asked softly while waiting for the door to open. Leaning against the frame of the door itself with her hands kept comfy in the fabric of her pockets, violet orbs shifted to greet the man's gaze - awaiting his reply before the door abruptly opened.

There stood a young woman with wavy, brown hair and a genuine smile. Behind her was a tall young man that seemed gruff but friendly nevertheless. Both were dressed in matching colors of clothing - the woman respectively wearing a dress and the man a tuxedo. Whatever event the two of them were going to must have come off as rather important. "Ah, thank you two for coming! The baby is in his crib in his room! Please, take very good care of him!", Katy chirped while the husband bowed his head, both exiting the house without another word except the waving of their hands.

Shu having done the same, she then turned to Kiku with the raise of a brow and a twitch in her smile. Something was telling her that this wasn't going to be as easy as she originally thought it to be. She was beginning to even wonder if Kiku was experiencing the same thought processes as she was. Nevertheless, with a slight humorous tone, she lifted her trademark hat off her head and bowed. Sweeping her arm across her form she spoke in a near gentlemanly manner.

"After you, sir!"

There was a light yawn that left the lips of the pale skinned man that slipped off as they approached the building that housed the object of their next job. Oddly enough it was baby sitting. While that’s not really a noteworthy job, it was none the less a good thing as the legal people are consider, and heaven forbid if they did something wrong. Add in mental eye roll please. He shook his head as the words of his usual companion, as smiled some. “Oh, I’m fine Shu dear. Just a bit tired. I had to work late in the tavern cleaning up a bit of a mess, and fixing a table. “ He said with a light laugh as he watched her lean against the frame of the door.

As his ears caught the sound of them coming to the door, he stepped off to the side as to allow the couple to move off to their destination. His eyes flickered to Shu as they moved off. His lips cocked to a grin. ”There is hope for you as a waitress yet.” He said with a chuckle as he moved into the house, standing just on the otherside of the door with his foot on the door to hold it open. ”Lets get this started, and dealt with no? I fear for my bar with me gone.”

As Shu strode in after her companion, the young woman turned to fully face him - strands of her ever-growing-black hair sliding down in front of her face. With a huff of a breath she made an attempt to blow the singular, loose strands away from her pale face. Alas, they were attracted back into an even more unkempt mess. Her hair was growing too long and faster than she had anticipated. Replying to her boss' words from earlier about staying up late, she softly voiced her genuine concern. "I-I could have stayed instead to do all that for you, Kiku. You needn't do such things on your own. We're a team both outside and in the bar. You're not alone." Her violet orbs shifted to gaze at him for a mere moment before blowing the strands of black hair again, this time succeeding in removing them from her line of sight.

"Success!"

Shu then must have realized how silly she must have appeared, nervously laughing with a light blush as she rubbed the top of her head - squishing the red fabric of the hat adorned there. Keeping in mind that the bar would not be the same with Kiku gone, and that guests couldn't be attended to while she was gone, Shu then rest her hands on her hips with a nod. "Then let's do it!", she said with a form of confidence. Although, that feeling of uneasiness was still lingering about from before. With a lump sliding down her throat the young woman moved down the hallway of the house, entering the room of the baby.

There it was, smiling happily with its arms raised arm towards the young woman. Its hands opened and closed as it made soft pitched squeaks and giggles, as if sensing that there was no need to be fearful of the people before them. With a warm chuckle, Shu walked over to the baby in its crib and gently pushed the gate down - gently picking him up and holding him in her arms. Violet orbs shifting towards Kiku slowly, she smiled. "Well, this doesn't seem so ba - ACK!" She was abruptly cut off by the baby repeatedly slapping his hands in her face.

Well, that explained why she was feeling uneasy. . .

He laughed for a moment as she began to speak about how he should’ve asked her for help. He snickered moment as his eyes closed. He looked back at the child as she picked him up, and he started to hit at her. This child was absolutely adorable! He laughed again as he reached over and scooped him from Shu’s arms, and stared into his eyes. Kiku’s own eyes went gold for a moment as he stared before a voice echoed through the air. It was obvious one that help power, and demanded respect. ”Little child, you’re going to be nice for my companion and I this evening. Lets give your parents a nice surprise for when they come home, alright?” He said, his lineage for the first time surfacing.

The child quickly calmed down, and looked at Kiku before giggling. He looked back at Shu before he cradled the little one in his arms and started to rock him back and forth. “This isn’t to hard. I wonder why the parents called him a demon in the post?”

It was after a moment or so that sweet relief from pain softly flowed from her face, yet it quickly returned as the woman stood there with a cringe - eyes shut. There was a reason why the baby was described as such a troublemaker in the flyer the mother put up. It most definitely was kind of Katy to do so, but Shu had completely forgotten the details of the child. Her uneasiness was the only warning she had, and a flushed color reached her cheeks while the baby's red slap marks were freshly outlined on her pale skin.

R-Right then. . . What a birthday this has been.

Turning towards Kiku with a rather amusing state of mind and expression, she listened to the way he spoke to the child. It was surprising on how it carried such a suave amount of respect and authority, yet was seemingly calm for the one he was directing it to. It was then the child just happily giggled and was beginning to be rocked back and forth, his eyes repeatedly fluttering softly until they were almost closed. Kiku's words then reached Shu's ears in her state of shock, and all she could do was stand there with her jaw agape - shoulders down as her palms faced the ceiling.

She was bewildered to say the least.

"Wow, sir. . . Wow."

'Twas all she had to say as the child fell fast asleep in his arms, the parents soon arriving home completely satisfied - receiving their pay and gratitude for the job well done. The young woman could only rest the palm of her hand against her face as she exited the home with her boss right behind her, not daring to meet his gaze out of embarrassment. A soft hue of red dusted her cheeks as she internally sighed, almost mentally slapping herself.

This is the most embarrassing job I've been on so far. . .
