Deliver My Letter!

Well they had gotten their passports (still the strangest job he had encountered) and it was time to head home. Though Lei, as he had taken to calling her, had suggested they take a cart again, Eliot had been adamant that they walk to Magnolia first at least. His stomach had nearly flipped on its head when she mentioned “riding in the cart”.

Magnolia was a gloriously large city, at least in comparison to Clover Town. The guild hall was near the rear of the metropolis, home to the wizard guild Fairy Tail. Part of him wanted to visit the guild...but decided against it.

He walked beside Lei, his hands tucked behind his head and intertwined with his hair. He glanced over at her. “So uh...Lei...what...I mean, where are you from?” He figured if he was going to be ranking up with her, he should at least know some details.

She was hot. Or rather, it was hot and thus she felt uncomfortable. Why couldn’t they just go back the same way they came? Eliot was being a crybaby about the entire thing. “Nazo,” was her one word reply. “What about you?” The question was asked as they continued walking, not bothering to stop. Why would they? Apparently, that is what some other pedestrian had been thinking.

BOOM!

Well, it wasn’t THAT loud, but it still hurt. An overweight hillbilly named Clint had knocked her several feet away as his giant gut seemed to extend out and punch her! “Sorry lil lady,”[/color] he said between crooked teeth. “I was just lookin fer som’ung to deliver this here letter to my favorite actress, Jessica Nigri.”

“Isn’t that the star of the kid’s show ‘Nigri the Explorer?’” Leivinia asked as she rubbed her head in pain.

Eliot scratched his head as he tried to recall where Nazo was. He had heard the name before but it definitely didn’t ring any alarming bells in his head. He could have asked her for particulars of it but...well, he didn’t want to look dumb. “Oshibana.” He replied to her, looking up to the sky. His gaze would have stayed transfixed on that if not for the sound of two bodies crashing into each other.

Eliot glanced down to see Lei standing several feet away, clearly in disarray and confused. And where she should have wound up was a rather overweight man, proclaiming his determination to find a delivery person for his letter.

To Jessica Nigri of all people.

The Dragon Slayer shrugged. “Sure, I bet we could do that for you.” Without waiting for an answer he snatched the parchment from the hillbilly’s hand and pocketed it in his crimson duster.

“Let’s go, Lei. We have another job to do!”

“W-wait!” Leivinia shouted out as she followed the slayer around. “Is Eliot really not going to burn that letter!?” For emphasis, she rubbed the back of her head as she puffed out her cheeks and pouted. “Honestly… the nerve.” Strangely enough, she continued to follow Eliot despite not agreeing to the job. She knew the way home, but it felt weird to leave. Or maybe she was just bored.

“Do we even know where Jessica Nigri is, though?” she asked. Clint Hinkley was certainly a strange fellow to want to deliver that letter, but he did seem to think that Miss Nigri was in town. Unfortunately, Leivinia just wasn’t all that familiar with Magnolia. Her eyes never left that Eliot’s pocket and any opportunity to destroy that letter would be taken.

“If you’re a big celebrity coming to a town, what do you do?” He said without turning to look at her. His own confidence and bravado shown on his face in the shape of a wide smile as turned a corner and headed down one of the side streets. Jessica Nigri was great and all but she was no famous wizard and, as such, would not turn Eliot into a bumbling pool of nerves.

He could hear the music playing and the fans screaming as they approached the main road now. A stage had been set up near the town’s center, right in front of a massive cathedral. And standing on the podium was one Jessica Nigri, smiling and waving at the adoring masses.

“Thank you. Thank you! No, thank you.” She was saying into a voice lacrima, boosting her speech throughout the entire street. Another line had been set up so that fans could get autographs. Not another line, he mentally grumbled before he turned to Lei. His face scrunched in thought for a moment before he snapped his fingers. Quickly, and with relative ease, he folded the letter into a paper airplane, making sure to smooth out the wings for careful flying. With a wiggle of his eyebrows, he tossed the letter towards Jessica.

The tiny paper vessel flipped and spun every which way before landing at the feet of a security guard. He glanced down at it before he picked it up. He read the name titled on it before he handed it over to the celebrity, content that it wasn’t dangerous.

Close enough, right?
