The Life of Merlin, where should we start?
Well if one must know Merlin is an old mage who long roamed through the lands of Nazo, the planet of the magical entities, the world of mystery that goes almost beyond comprehension, in fact Merlin himself is known to be a mystery, no one knows what he really looks like and word about him has been floating around for decades. They thought he was a myth but they thought wrong, Merlin exists and as a matter of fact he could be anyone, he could be your best friend, your arch nemesis, perhaps a family member or somebody who's affiliated with your past. Anonymity is what makes him a bit fearful and noted to be involved in all kinds of magical events.
Social Life
Merlin is of course a mystery but if one were to actually met him, he would probably be known to exaggerate foolish characteristics to make people feel unthreatened and to hide his identity. He exhibits an almost obsessive love for lemon squares, engages in lecherous behavior, plays games with the local children and aids and befriends the adults, as well as making the occasional bizarre joke or quip, taking on an alias as he goes through.
Its known that Merlin himself has some connections to shady experimental groups working to create artificial mages and some underground activities not generally known by those who lived in the underworld themselves.
As a Mentor
Merlin himself is known to have taught many mages due to his great comprehension of magic and its internal workings. His teaching methods of course depends on the student and the magic needed to be learned, he's mostly passive knowing that his student has much potential into achieving their goal. If he chooses to be an active tutor, its expected that every mistake the pupil makes must be compensated by going through a level of punishment according to the training itself or rather something that equivalents the effort of practice.
Its only by being his student can one really get to know Merlin, as he shows distinguished judgement to his pupil. When it comes to magic, Merlin always has the answer to his student's inquiry and curiosity. At times he doesn't give that answer because it was obvious, making his student believe that he's somewhat hypocritical of having boasted to them about having known magic itself.
Merlin also councils his students as well as many different people, regardless of their alignment or affiliation and gives out the best advice as much as possible.
As an Artist
Not only is he a mage but also a great architect himself as he was one of those who designed majority of the guild halls today, from legal guild, independent ones and of course, dark guilds. Quality in his work is everything to him as a designer and holds such high pride for it. Having to see a Unison Raid would be considered a privilege as having to mix two or more elements be nothing greater than fine magical art from the heart.
However he's not limited to just architecture, he's also known to be one of the photographers of the Sorcerer's Weekly Magazine, capturing lovely images of female mages from other guilds to which most of course would be cautious in his presence.

Merlin doesn't usually reveal his magics and refrains from using trademark spells that would give him away, however having to put Merlin on the edge may force him to not pull any punches. He enjoys magical battles and often treated them all as if it were nothing more than a chess game between him and his opponent. He's known to be crafty, and easily exploits his opponent's weaknesses.
Outside of battle, Merlin although some considered to him a master of magecraft, he considers himself "An eternal student" as he continues on to practice the different kinds of magecraft there is out there in the world and beyond. Notable trinkets he makes are the magical sticks, holder items that contract with whoever they chose as their wielder, turning them into Magical Girls or Magical men.
Other items he makes of course are modified products of alchemy.

The very first time this flavor came in contact with his tongue, he fell quite in love with the flavor; rather it was a kind of nostalgic taste, which is rooted from the past. Its uncertain to him whether or not he had eaten one as a child but set a tray of sweet in front of him, he’d snatch it immediately.
Merlin likes designing buildings; house make-overs put him in his element. When you get him started on this topic, one can barely hear the end of it from him. There were times whereas he’d design special plated walls that would be impervious to any kind of ethernano energy, meaning it would be strong against magical attacks. Certain board members of the magic councils were nothing but upstarts, boasting about their power and authority. Merlin served as a researcher of one of its departments until he just quit. No matter how lawful a system can be, there’s bound to be viruses. Other reasons for him leaving the magic council were because some of the duties there were too much of a hassle as some of the researchers of the institute tend to commit social loafing.
Though Merlin has been witness to many magical events, he dislikes the fact that he would be forcefully dragged into events that doesn’t even concern him or rather not to his interest. The idea of being forced into a situation or a business deal irks him though that actually depends on the one making the request. If he gets involved in a situation without his permission, he’d simply disappear, leaving the one responsible out to dust.

The Fallen reality is one of Merlin’s natural fears; he had come to a complete understanding of the secrets of reality itself and the flow of the universe. Should there be an imbalance and distortion, everything in the universe will eventually collapse.
Merlin fears of a future that as an entity he would be once again sealed by the Lady of the Lake, a very powerful undine that resides in Nazo. Vivien was someone he admires and is infatuated with and also someone that he naturally fears.

Merlin primarily appears as a small white animal, the distinction of this form is unknown whether its a dog or a prairie dog, its known to be quite small. Regardless of the form he takes, he retains his manner of speech and wisdom.
His general appearance however consists of long white hair, dressed in robes with the symbol of a dragon in the middle. A notable physical trait of his is that he bears an insignia on his upper left cheek just below the eye that is actually a magical seal that suppresses his true form.
