Name: Nikuko
Nicknames: Niku-kun, Niku-chan, Nikuman, Manjuu, Manko, Sarada, etc. (just to spite)
Rank: Weak
Species: Yokai
Type: Combat Pet
Description:
- Spoiler:
History: Originally serving under the saniwa of the Arashi Shrine, Nikuko was eventually put under Terith's care under the direct order of its former master. It was meant to serve as the young man's guide and guardian, acting as the saniwa's direct link to her "apprentice" from their world to this, considering how Nikuko addresses to her directions without hesitance.
Form: Though it often takes the appearance of a round, black and orange tabby cat, there has been speculation on Terith's behalf that there's more to what it really is. What is unique about Nikuko is its tail that appears to be more rabbit-like in shape and motion. The bell around its neck is its keepsake from its former master.
Personality: Niku-kun sports a listless look in its eyes that portray its laziness. It doesn't favor fighting and opts to eat and/or sleep in Terith's bag. However, when circumstances arise that potentially threaten its temporary master, it gives birth to its protective haste that shows just how much the yokai values Terith despite earnestly mocking him sometimes. Nikuko is quite good-natured in retrospect, though it tends to save its wisdom and grace for much later, save for times when food is available. Niku-kun is strangely an even bigger eater than its temporary master, and that's saying something.
Abilities:
- Passives:
- Inflating like a ball: Nikuko's body, though realistically fluffy like a cat's, is not like a cat's. Its body mass isn't restricted to one definite quantity and size, hence, almost like a beach ball releasing air, Nikuko has the ability to 'release' and 'intake' body mass to a certain extent. As of current, its largest achievable size is six meters in diameter, while the smallest is the same size as a baseball. Its average size usually toggles along the 26-27 inches mark, based on his circumference. The inflation is instant, meaning it can pop into any size it wants to in a blink of an eye.
- A Flying Cat-rabbit?: As a token of respect, Nikuko was once blessed by the saniwa with the gift of flight, though the ability is more akin to levitating. It can reach to up about 3 meters off the ground. Niku-kun is often seen floating around Terith's shoulder or sitting quietly on his head. To not draw suspicion, it opts to walk beside its temporary master instead. Or if Terith permits, its allowed to be carried in his bag for the duration of the journey. This ability only applies to Nikuko and it can't make other things do so. *As a mental note: Niku-kun's speed of flight stays stagnant no matter its size (5 kph), considering how its body is almost entirely buoyant.
- It's Not Just Meow: Nikuko is a bilingual yokai that speaks both the common language of humans and its own original language, much to the surprise of Terith. It only speaks during daytime hours when the sun is high. Upon arrival of sunrise, its voice starts to dwindle into a mumble until it's no longer able to speak. Its voice sounds neither masculine or feminine, but rather a mixture of both.

Name: The Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss
Rank: D
Description: In its early life serving the saniwa, it had a habit of rolling around the shrine grounds, absorbing the warmth of the grass after they've been baked by noon sunlight. Normally, its fur would gather remnants of dirt and grass marks but it always ends up just as clean as before.
In the very same way, the yokai is able to maximize its rolling capacity in battle. Niku-kun intakes as much mass as it can, inflating it to its maximum capacity and rounds itself into a large white furball with orange and black details. It will begin to roll in a designated direction for the next few minutes. Taking up 3 meters per minute (approximately 5 meters per post, up to three posts, can be used again after 4 posts). Obstacles sometimes would be pushed away effortlessly, something similar to a bowling ball hitting a few pins.
Strengths:- Nikuko's body will not take any damage when rolling for the next three posts as long as it doesn't stop.
- Nikuko can fit Terith into its ball, securing him from damage. This serves him well if he is unable to withstand any more damage or if he's surrounded.
Weaknesses:- Nikuko will eventually gather damage the more it exerts itself. For every extra post of rolling, it gains 10% decrease to its total HP.
- Unless Nikuko is somehow cast with a defense spell or it skillfully dodges, it's body will take damage from incoming spells, taking their full damage.
- Nikuko cannot always use this ability consecutively. When it feels like it's dangerously out of capacity, it'll stop rolling and pop back into its smallest size. It'll stay like that for four posts until it regains its full health back.
Name:The Harder You Fall, The Higher You Bounce (like a ball)
Rank: C
Description: Nikuko's original body was once terribly damaged, and on that battered battleground did he meet the saniwa who spared it some mercy. There, she gave it a new body, one that would sustain its selflessness. This new composition allowed it to live in contentment, a life similar to a rubber ball.
This is one of Nikuko's special abilities that deal with being selfless. When activated, it is given two choices. One allows it to stretch its body into a pad that resembles a trampoline. In this stage, it can take thrown projectiles such as bullets or spells and launch them back.
Another will allow it to take damage for its master. Upon accumulation of said damage, it will then release an explosive energy that is of similar to the total power of its taken damage. These two different outcomes, however, cannot be used consecutively and both have their own respective drawbacks.
Strengths:- Nikuko can return simple launched magics such as fireballs given that they have a tangible form and that they are of the same rank as its master.
- When it's stretched out into a trampoline, it only takes half of the entire damage of the projectiles.
- This helps Terith manage his weakness to elements.
Weaknesses:- Nikuko can only take up a set amount of damage. It's usually based on what its master can deal (thus Nikuko can take up D-rank damage before the release, however this ranks up with the user.)
- The thrown projectiles, when relaunched, will deal half of their total damage due to the sudden momentum loss and part of Nikuko's power that enacted upon them as they hit its body (that allowed it to resist part of the damage).
- Nikuko can't use one mode consecutively. It needs to switch modes ever so often, so long as its body allows it.
- To take damage for its master is extremely dangerous because it does not resist. It takes all of that and will only heal if it reverts into a smaller size.
- Nikuko will only use this if Terith allows it. But if not, it can't act upon its own urgency.
- Nikuko's body will not take any damage when rolling for the next three posts as long as it doesn't stop.
