    Hikari

    ”…”

The raindrops pattered onto the cold, hard marbled pavement of Sabertooth as unrelenting frigid, harsh gales blew across the lands of Fiore, spluttering droplets of rain onto a pair of metallic boots whose owner was no other than the current guild master of Sabertooth — Hikari Shirokawa. A hooded figure stood at the edge of the platform, the hood so low, it barely even displayed the features of her face apart from her cupid-bow lips drawn into a simple thin line, gazing down at the sight below her, which was nothing but a mere vision of clouds drifting away. A sigh escaped the young girl’s lips, vapour forming at the end of her mouth before it vanished into the cold air which was assorted with rain. Seconds plodded by, each separated by an eternity and the rain continued to cascade down the endless sky ceaselessly and the intensity of the downpour would gradually increase rather than settling down. Unconsciously, the young girl hoisted up her hand, her fingers outstretched loosely as it grazed through the cold transparent orb of water, sending a chill through her hand and up her arm.

    —————————

Dawn, where the glass panels of the walls and the metallic surfaces that adorned the edges of the Sabertooth building were wet with morning dew, the young Sabertooth mage had pushed a folded piece of worn out paper under the gap of the door that leads to the room of her fellow friend — Ardere Kasai. Meet me at the top of the Sky Tower. I’m certain you would know the reason why I invited you, the letter states. A signature of her own was smeared at the bottom of the page by her disordered handwriting as she would snap her body around to the other direction with a swift motion of her cloak, afterwards.

    —————————

The sky had cleared up finally, creamy clouds emerged into the azure sky after a tremendous downpour. The neon rays of sunlight transmitted through the gaps between the clouds and onto the dry desert that laid sprawled in front of the vicinity of Sky Tower and there she was — sitting crosslegged in the centre of the top of the Sky Tower, with her most trusted arsenal of guns placed beside her as Hika waited for a person she was supposed to expect to arrive soon. Knowing that Ardere is exceptionally punctual, the girl was positive that he would never fail his tasks. Slender fingers tapping onto the pale skin of her thighs, the cerulean haired girl awaited for her guild mate whilst she was rejoiced in the majestic beauty of the nature that settled before her sight, basking under the pure rays of sunlight, a genuine smile resting on her lips.

The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam Empty Re: The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam

Post by Ardere Kasai 21st September 2015, 12:46 pm

Peering down at the letter he received from his guild master, Ardere quickly stuffed it away as a rain drop hit it. Some of the paper absorbing the moisture, he did not want it to be ruined. The fire mage was the sort of person to save those sorts of things as a memento, and thus he stuff it into his leather arm bracers, for protections. He was under the assumption that this was for his exam, and a bracer was a lot more safe than his chest plate if things got to be rough. A couple rain drops hitting his thick brown hair, he brushed the wetness off quickly. His cloak flapping in the wind a bit as he peered off at the Sky Tower. It was a magnificent tower, the but the weather was a bit odd today. It seemed to have been sprinkling a bit before he arrived, but the sky was beginning to clear up. This was his signal to head towards the tower, hopefully he was not late. Being a professional, he preferred to not be late to anything, let alone an exam. Hikari may be a new guild master, but the two had been friends before that. If he was certain of anything, it would be that this should be interesting.

Making his way towards the tower, his cloak covering the red Samurai armor he bore flapped slightly in the wind. Gazing up at the gigantic tower, he tightened the strap on his sword. Off we go, then. Choosing not to bring Ember Celica with him today, he had to walk this road alone. Taking a deep breath, with his increased speed he moved towards the tower. Some dirt behind him turning to dust, and scattering behind him. Rather than leisurely walk, he chose to dash. His brown hair and red head band pushed back by the wind from his speed, Ardere moved into the tower. Rather than just rapidly moving up the stairs, he lightly jumped from wall to wall. The tips of his feet repeatedly pushed off the wall until he traversed the endless flights of stairs in this damn tower. Damn this thing is tall. The last tower he had been in was the Sun Tower, and that one had not necessarily been the most welcoming experience. Hopefully this would be slightly different, moving until he appeared behind a hooded figure. He could tell by her scent that it was Hikari, smirking slightly he cracked his shoulder. Afternoon boss, what's on the agenda today? Giving a casual salute, he was laid back as always, awaiting instructions from his new master.

    Hikari

A voice, finally reached into the Sabertooth’s mage head as her head sprang up to be introduced by the sight of a young man. ”Ardere, welcome.” The pink line of her lips would curve upwards into a smile, pearl-like teeth displaying bright under the sunlight. ”I’ve been waiting for you.” With that, the young girl brought herself up onto her legs, dusting off the powdered particles from her cloak. Most certainly, Hika had the privilege to personally proctor his exam for Ardere had been nothing but an honourable fighter as well as an amiable friend to her. The least she could do was to help him get stronger and guide the path ahead of him. ”Well, I suppose we better get started and not waste any more time.” A sly smile rested on her lips, her scarlet eyes dominated with sheer amusement and stretched her arm out in front of her.

The zephyrs that once reigned supreme on top of the Sky Tower began to surge up into something like a hurricane. The currents of air grew so intense and vivid, the vision before her was a mere blur of sight. A moment afterwards, everything settled down only to be greeted by an orange figure, or rather a ginormous creature that has his face aimed towards Ardere. The size of the creature was gigantic, its tail hung downwards from the edge of the Sky Tower. As if the the tooth of the creature was made of metal, it shimmered from the reflection of the sunlight. The texture of the serpent was as tough as diamond, with blots of circles and shapes lined across its skin. A hiss produced; the split tongue reaching out towards Ardere before it could begin to attack, not without Hika’s order. ”This is who you’re supposed to battle with. After you kill him, a gem will emerge. Touch it and you should be teleported into a forest where you should find me near an entrance in the center of the woods. I wish you the best.”

With her last words aimed at her fellow examinee, the Guildmaster vanished into thin air, leaving trails of gold dust behind her by a rapid motion of her cloak as it swished past her previous position. Good luck, friend. The word echoed around the area, only to be disrupted by a loud hiss from the serpent.

The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam Empty Re: The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam

Post by Ardere Kasai 21st September 2015, 10:52 pm

Giving a slight bow to his guild master, Ardere tightened his headband. Sorry to keep you waiting. Awaiting her instructions, he watched as wind began to swirl around the tower. It felt as if a hurricane was occurring in the area, his hair and cloak flapping intensely in the wind. Something was being summoned, he could feel the presence as it got closer. Standing behind his guild master as some large orange figure appeared, a bit of fear jarred through his veins. It felt as if every vein in his body jolted, and throbbed from the sheer shock. Widening his eyes a bit, it was a giant snake. Frozen for a moment, he seemed out of it barely hearing what his guild master said. Yeah yeah, see you on the other side. As she disappeared he drew his shining red blade. Gritting his teeth, a black aura burst around his body as the ground beneath him cracked from the force he was putting into it. It had to be a snake. Kuso ttare! Cursing loudly in his native tongue, he would leap backwards as the massive beast struck down towards him. He was quite fast for a mage of his rank, easily out running most other mages of his rank, but he barely moved out of the way from this snake. It seemed to be testing him, stalking him like prey. Unfortunately even with fear pulsing through his veins, the fire mage would not be prey today. Looking down at the ground, he saw a massive hole that lead down to the next level in the tower. Gazing into the piercing eyes of the snake, he gritted his teeth. You can eat it you scaly bastard! Sliding down into the hole, he narrowly dodged a bite from the massive serpent. What irked him most was the fact that this thing could fly, a flying snake. It certainly was just his luck that he would encounter a snake wasn't it? Ever since he was eight years old, he had been afraid of snakes.

When he was young and still with the bandit guild, living in Midi, the fire mage was bitten by a snake. The snake was not poisonous, in fact it was the kind that would strangle and eat him. Luckily his best friend had come to the rescue, and saved him from the snake. If that had not occurred, Ardere might not be here anymore. He had made it to this point, and he had been saved for a reason. There was only one way to survive this, and that was to revoke his fears. No, not to revoke them. He had to accept his fear and overcome it. Still shaking from the sight of the massive snake, he took a deep breath. Tentacles burst through the walls attempting to hit him, dodging the tentacles, he knew the snake could not see him through the wall. Lifting up his sword and bring it back down, green blood spurt across the floor as he chopped one of the tentacles off. Gritting his teeth, he pressed his hand on the wall. Flame God's RAGNAROK! Transferring black fiery energy from his god slayer magic into the wall, the wall began to turn black as more tentacles came through it. Causing a massive explosion to occur from the wall outwards, thick black flames and rubble burst out, hitting the snake directly in the fact as it was quite close to the wall. Luckily not only would his enhanced flames deal damage, as the flame tattoos appeared on his face, but the rubble as well. His tattoos used to be permanent, but he had decided against that and had them changed as such to only appear during battle. Glowing red flames across his face, to his neck, to his right pectoral. Ardere stared out towards the snake as several of it's tentacles had been severed, burnt by the flames a bit and hit by the rubble, it did not seemed heavily damage, but rather slightly damage and significantly pissed off. Staring into the snake's eyes, he seemed lost in thought. Flashes from his childhood occurred as a tentacle wrapped around his body. Squeezing tight, he could feel his muscles and bones constrict. No. No. NO! Yelling out at the snake, the blade in his hand burst into flames. The flames on his blade expanding to be wide enough to catch the entire tentacle, causing it's grip to be loosened. Slicing right through the tentacle with not only his physical blade, but the flames as well. Severing the tentacle, green blood spattered across the floor as he fell back down to it. The constriction had hurt, but he was far from done in this battle. His massive flame blade was long enough to prompt a hiss and screech from the snake as tentacles soared towards him. He knew he was not fast enough to dodge them or continuously cut them, so he held his blade in front of himself. Twirling it as fast as he could, his increased speed was enough to make a fan of flames. The red fan of flames deflecting the tentacles for a few moments, he was knocked backwards across the floor.

Tumbling across the floor, he fell through a hole made by the tentacles. Letting out a slight yelp, he slid down the hole onto the stairs. Tumbling down the stairs, he quickly regained his balance. For the moment, it seemed he was safe from the beast. Then, he heard the cracking and hissing. The beast had maneuvered itself through the hole he made from the spell, and tentacles came rushing down the hall of stairs. It was frightening to see the yellow tentacles come down the hall, and that was his source of motivation. The pure adrenaline pulsing through his veins was enough to get him moving. Sliding down the stairs, he found himself on the next level. It was an ancient library of sorts, perfect for him to move around in. Unfortunately the massive flame blade in his hands was a dead giveaway, but he came up with an idea. Running his blade atop the ancient shelves, it lit them all on fire. Dashing through the flames, he hid behind one of the shelves. His flame blade hard to see amidst the flames surrounding the area, it would be hard for the snake to tell where he was. He heard hissing, loud and frightening. Breathing heavily, he put a hand over his mouth. The snake could not move much due to the flames, but it spread tentacles out across through the aisles. Tentacles passing him, he stopped breathing for a moment. It was like some scene out of a horror movie, and he was the protagonist. A tentacle was getting closer, and he knew it was time to be the man and Samurai he was. Bursting from the shelves, using the flames as a guise, he struck the snake repeatedly with his gargantuan sword of kings. The flames repeatedly hitting the snake, it hissed and pushed him back with it's tentacles. Blocking with his blade, he flew through the flames. Luckily he was resistant to his own flames, but his clothes weren't. Patting out the flames, he was a ways away from the snake that was now slithering towards him. Kuso. He had to go for it, it was risky, but he had to do it. Running away from the snake, and towards the wall, he whistled loudly. CELICAAA Yelling the name of his companion as he ran, he dove out the window. Falling through the air for a moment, everything seemed to move in slow motion. He felt the free fall and fear running through his veins with tentacles right behind him, until he landed on the back of his phoenix. Gripping her collar tightly, the fire mage held his massive flame sword away from her as she soared away from the massive snake. I'm always saving you aren't I? Rather than retorting, he looked back to see what his enemy was doing.

Cracking and splitting apart, he saw the massive snake beast burst through the wall. Rubble shooting across the area, tentacles and all it burst through the tower. Taking to the air, the beast hissed and screeched. What in the hell is that?! Narrowing his eyes at the beast, it obviously did not like the presence of his phoenix. It's the enemy, now let's get rid of it partner. Celica soaring upwards, she was above the snake. Ardere looked down at it, and chose to jump, falling downwards the snake with his massive flame blade. His phoenix would circle back around the tower to get out of view of the snake, while her owner was falling towards the snake. Slashing at it's tentacles, he landed with his blade piercing the snake's thick hide. Screeching and hissing, it could not bite him from this angle, thus it sent what remaining tentacles it had at him. Twirling his blade around, battered a bit by the tentacles, he swung his blade around, then quickly repierced the snake's hide as it tried to shake him off rapidly. It was at about this time that his phoenix partner crashed into the snake, repeatedly burning and tearing at it with her claws. The snake screeching and flailing what little tentacles it had, was gushing green blood all over the place. It swiftly and surely moved back to the platform of the temple to try and crash the mage into it. He leaped off of the snake and rolled across the platform to soften his landing, unfortunately the tentacles hit his phoenix repeatedly, prompting her to fly away. Don't hurt my friend! While the snake beast was preoccupied by attacking his phoenix, a memory shot through his mind. His best friend telling him where the heart of a snake was, and he instinctively pierced his blade between the thick scales. Piercing the flesh of the snake, his blade was not long enough to hit the heart, but his flames gushed throughout the snake's insides, burning them. Screeching and hissing in pain, the snake let go of his phoenix as it moved on to the next world. A flash of light, and the serpent was gone. Panting and covered in bruises, Ardere found himself upon a gem. Celica, this fight isn't for you. Thank you my best friend, but I gotta do this one on my own. The injured phoenix nodded. Don't get yourself killed. Smiling with a bruised smile, the fire mage grabbed the gem. Appearing in a dense forest, the sensation of being teleported across space made him feel a bit uneasy. Shaking his head and rubbing it, he looked off in the distance. He could see Hikari standing off in the distance, near some sort of entrance. Rushing over, it was obvious he had a rough time with the snake, covered in bruises. What's next boss?

Seconds and hours plodded by, which almost feels like each second is separated by an eternity, the girl waited for the examinee to make an appearance in front of her. Arms crossed in front of her chest, scarlet optics darted around the silent woods restlessly. There was nothing to do but to anticipate for his arrival, and soon, the guild master of Sabertooth grew massively bored eventually. The sapphire haired girl yawned audibly before she leaned onto the staircase which was supposed to lead to an entrance. Soon after, a figure emerged through the shadows of the forest, her eyes squinted only to catch sight of Ardere approaching towards her. A huge grin immediately made way to her face and lightened up, the features on her face finally relaxed. ”Congratulations on completing the first trial of the exam.” Hika spoke, taking off her hood, only to reveal her face completely and gave him a gentle pat on his shoulder.

”Now, you have to go into this entrance and follow the path. There should be a twisting corridor at the end of the passage, which will lead to another and another before it reaches to a dead end and that’s where you’ll find the main enemy of the second examination. Ah, one more thing, there will be enemies blocking your path as well. Don’t lose focus and listen carefully, because my voice will be the only one that can guide you through your passage. Well, I guess we should part our ways now. Good luck.” A smile remained on her lips before Hika pulled her hood back on and once again, vanished into gold dust.

(OOC: Not using a template cause the page is messed up)

Huffing a bit on the pat of his shoulder, Ardere smirked as well he could. His lip was kind of busted, so it hurt a bit to smile. Luckily he wasn't gushing blood down his face or anything, even though he did look pretty damn battered. Thanks, let me guess, there's more? Looking towards the ominous entrance, he listened to the young guild master's advice. This would be no easy task, but he was no average mage. As he entered the pathway, he felt a cold breeze rush past his entire body. A chill running up his spine, it was quite dark in the passage. Snapping his fingers to light a flame, he noticed some torches running down the hall. Grabbing one and holding it, it seemed there was enough lighting to just barely see. Luckily with his slayer senses, he would not need to see exactly everything. It was a stone pathway, and why it was in these woods he was not sure. He had been out into the creepy and dark woods in his last exam, which ended with him meeting an unexpected enemy, one he had hoped to never see again. What he could see in here, he was unsure of. His last opponent had been one he was afraid of, and now he was in a hellishly dark cave. While he was not as afraid of the dark as he was when he was a child, it gave him a weird feeling.

Eyes darting across the walls, he noticed claw marks across them. They were deep claw marks, probably enough to cut through steel. From what he knew, old stone like this was stronger than steel. The strange thing about these markings was that they were almost like territorial bear markings. He had not been much of a camping person, but throughout his travels across Fiore, he had seen enough bears, vulcans, and things of the like that left territorial markings. They were generally on trees, but whatever was in here obviously could only use the walls. The claw marks were huge, he could only guess whatever left them was large and strong. As he continued walking he would now notice the webs across the floor, and across the walls. Oh shit, he thought. There were not many, but as he got further into the passage, the amount of webs began to increase. There were skeletons stuck to the wall, presumably the dinner of whatever left these webs. Keeping the torch and his sword out, Ardere kept his senses focused and at peak condition. While he was injured, he was still well enough to fight some damn spider. Taking a deep breath, he heard tapping in the halls. Tap, tap, tap it went. Gritting his teeth, he had seen enough scary things for today. At this point, he was just done with it. Dropping the fear in his body, he tightened his tattered and worn cloak. Whatever was coming his way, it was getting significantly louder with each tap.

Then, it appeared. Leaping out from the shadows, webs spurt out towards him. Slashing the silk to pieces, they fell next to him. He would hear a tssk tssk sound coming from whatever had launched the webs, as he emerged from the shadows. It's top appeared was that of an attractive woman, but the bottom was that of a fairly humongous spider. While he did not fear spiders like he did snakes, he was not fond of them. She laughed and stared through him almost, like he was nothing but mere prey. Letting out a "tch", Ardere would side run up the wall, and spiral towards her. Attempting to slam his blade into her face, she caught it with her hands, which started too ooze black blood. Her eyes went from a predatory gaze to one of surprise, she did not expect his blade to break her skin. Smiling at him, she smacked him aside with one of her large eight legs. Struggling to get up, she pinned him against the wall. Struggling more and more, she began to wrap him to the wall. Starting with his legs and going up must have been a habit, but not a smart one. It began to wrap him up, prompting him to go to action, but he heard something coming towards them. The ground was shaking slightly as his arm holding the sword was pinned against the wall. Struggling to break free, he tossed his torch at the spider woman. It missed her, prompting a maniacal laugh from the beast, but then she noticed the shadow produced by the flames.

It was a large shadow, definitely something in the shape of a beast. And once it emerged from hiding, she screeched at it. The large bear-like creature emerged and the two began what seemed to be a squabble over prey. Taking this moment to use his enhanced strength and the element of surprise to his advantage, Ardere ripped the webs off of the arm holding his sword, then sliced the webs off of his legs. Feeling the blood rush back to his legs, the two monsters turned to see him escaped. Not allowing them a second to touch him, he slashed his sword to send a wall of thick black flames. The wall was shaped like and arc, and with the small, restricting size of this hall way, it would be impossible for them to dodge. The destructive black flames shred through some of their flesh, prompting a roar and a screech.
He had been injured a bit more from the knockback earlier, but he used the guise of his own flames which he could see through, to slice off two of the spider woman's legs. Stabbing her in the abdomen, he killed her. But by now the bear could see him, luckily it was busy getting off some of the flames that had caught him on fire. Sliding under the bear, he repeatedly stabbed it. Dishing out two punches, the bear was also lit aflame from underneath. The fire mage was swept the side as the bear screeches in pain from the stabbing and the flames. It took a few moments, but the large bear fell to his death. Standing up, the god slayer brushed himself off, and took off running.

Taking off deeper into the passage, he noticed that the amount of webs began to decrease as he got further and further down the hall. He now began to notice those territorial markings again, except there were several sections of the walls covered in them. These must be the enemies standing in his way that Hika was talking about, she sure wasn't kidding about how perilous this would be. He had taken some damage, but there was no real bleeding thankfully. As he bolted down the hall, he heard some growling. Crap, he thought to himself but in his native Midian tongue. Then, he could hear the stomping coming towards him again. Fortunately, it was coming from behind him and not from in front of him. Dashing down the hall with his enhanced speed, he took off step after step, pounding through the hall. He could hear them behind him, and smell their scent. They were probably pissed he had killed one of their own, which meant they would come at him with all of the ferocity that they had. Bolting as fast as the fire mage could move his legs, he felt breathing behind him. The heat of their breathe almost running down his neck, the stomping had gotten closer. They were faster than he had expected, which meant he would have to slow them down. Running as fast as he could, he would leap. Turning out mid leap, he stared directly into the eyes of two bears. Incinerate you ferocious bastards. Slamming his sword down, black flames would be transferred into the floor. Cracking and ripping to pieces, shards and flames bursting from the earth like mountains, they were hit hard. The beasts were slung backwards as a range of black fiery mountains was summoned from beneath the earth, it did not take them out, but it was obvious they had been burned.

Dashing down towards the right side of the hall, he turned a corner. It seemed he had stalled the bears for a moment, as he could not hear them coming. Letting out a heavy breath, he felt relief for a moment. Then within seconds, fear re-entered his body like a needle being slammed into his veins. A cold chill ran up Ardere's spines as they reappeared, but on both sides of him. There were many entrances to the hall, and they had come from opposite ones. It was as if despite his best efforts, they were still faster than he was. He had no choice but to ignite his arms with black flames, and spin. Spinning like a top, he sent torrents of flames across the hall. Burning both the bears and the walls, the scene was filled with black flames. Keeping he sword out, he also repeatedly slashed into their flesh. Falling to the ground as his attack was complete, he began to pant heavily for a moment. Regaining his strength, he was smacked away by a paw, just barely. Sliding down the hall, he felt blood run down his head. It seemed he had been hit hard, but he was still very conscious. One of the bears had survived, and it was running towards him more sluggishly than before. Roaring and growling at him, the god slayer thrust his blade forward into the beast's chest just before it would strike. Blood running down his blade, he pulled it out. The white beast hitting the ground with a thud, he sighed. Standing up, he was far from done with getting the hell out of this hall. On his own two feet, he exited this hall, and entered the next one.

Entering the next hall, he smiled slightly as he saw an exit back into what he would now refer to as the world of the living. Running towards the exit, his guild master's words ran through his head. In the last passage would be the true enemy of this part of the exam, prompting him to stop. Arching a brow, black flames swirled around him. Leaping over the flames, he slid backwards across the floor. Black flames? He thought, that was impossible. Who else had black flames other than him. Then, out of the corrupt black flames a man would appear. This man was the spitting image of Ardere. Everything about them in appearance was the same, and apparently the magic was too. The only difference was, this man had blood red eyes, like a demon almost. So, that's how it is. Looking at the man, who was laughing and glaring at him with killing intense. Haha, you're mine. You will die, Ardere. So you might as well give up now. Opening his arms, the man laughed maniacally. Tch. Like I'd be taken out by the likes of you. The clone laughed again, and arched a brow. The real fire mage took off his bloody head band, letting some of the blood rush down his head, and his dark brown hair fall down. Cracking his knuckles, he took a stance. If you really are me, than TAKE THIS! Exhaling a massive cylinder of flames, the clone smirked. His Flame God's Bellow would be countered, by a spell of the exact same proportions and power. As the two bellow collided, a massive explosion occurred, sending flames and smoke across the hall.

It seemed the two had the exact same idea, as they used the smoke for a guise to attack one another. The clone drawing his sword, clashed with the real one. Sword slash after slash, it seemed neither could get a hit on one another. Then, the clone came at him with such ferocity, then he cut both of Ardere's upper arms. Falling back, blood gushed down his arms. Snapping, he summoned a flame to cauterize the wound. Groaning slightly at the pain, he could not let himself bleed all over the place mid battle, and it seemed the clone was just toying with him anyhow. HAHA! Die! Die! DIE!! Gritting his teeth, the real one lifted up his sword as the clone burst towards him. Waiting until the clone got closer, he was hoping to go for a sneak attack. Slamming his fist forward just before the clone arrived, it seemed he had been duped. The clone had suspected this all along, and both of their fists collide. Black flames enveloping their bodies, as they would normally be propelled like rockets. Instead, their fists stayed clashed and the flames burst behind them like a ship's engine. The ground beneath them began to split and crack as the flames scorched it, he had never expected to see this sort of thing in his entire life. His face was in shock, while the clone was smirking deviously. The flames dissipated, but the ground beneath them was utterly destroyed. You're weak, you don't embrace the destruction of these flames!

The clone slashed at his furiously, and he blocked the strikes but he was still sliding back. Strike after strike he blocked, it seemed he was on the defensive. After a few moments, he got fed up with it. No. You're the one who is weak. You use these flames to destroy and kill, but I was given them by a God to protect. These flames are corrupt and unholy, but I'm not! I'm stronger than you because I use these flames to protect, not to kill! So Vanish, you two bit clone! Smacking the sword out of his clone's hand, he sheathed his own. Dishing out a barrage of punches, he took the offensive. The real Ardere gave it everything he had. Using ferocity he did not normally use, he dished out many punches into the clone's chest. Grabbing his left arm as the faker fell back, he used it to pull him forward and slam his palm into his stomach. Return to whatever hell hole you sprang up from. Flames gushing out of his palm, the clone was hit by both the force of the strike, and the flames. As the clone was defeated, he screeched in pain as he turned to dust. Panting heavily, the flame god slayer had taken some damage. But he laughed a bit, due to the fact that he had never experienced anything like that. Fighting a crazier version of himself was surreal, but he had no time to dwell on it. Instead he moved on to meet with Hika.

    Hikari

The Sabertooth guild master emerged after the evil clone of Ardere vanished, a satisfied grin on her lips. ”Well done on accomplishing the second trial. I respect your strength, Ardere.” Two shining scarlet eyes had established dominance over her face, the pink line of her cupid-bow lips slightly curved into a sly smile of amusement. ”Now, …” She spoke, her voice gentle and soft, Hika hoisted up her hand and pressed her index finger on Ardere’s forehead. This would put him to sleep, or rather an unconscious state of mind. Ardere would find himself drowsy and tired, his eyelids heavy, soon before he drifts off to sleep. Afterwards, the young girl would place her hand on his chest and push him gently backwards. This would make him feel like he’s falling within his unconscious mind. When Ardere wakes up, he would find himself lying in a coffin which is buried under thousands of meters of rock and sand, greeted by insects and worms that live underground. Some insects had been biting through the shirt and the skin off his arm already, only a quarter piece of muscle is remaining. It was as if he had been sleeping in the coffin for years.

”Get out of the coffin as fast as possible, before the insects devour you.” The voice echoed underground, as a hint that would guide him, and only the examinee is able to hear it. Even if she did not tell him, she knew Ardere would try to escape either way. If Ardere would attempt to incinerate the insects, he would find himself not being able to use his magic anymore. Yes, Ardere has to get out of the coffin and climb up a thousand meters only by physical means. However, as a weapon to assist him, Hika had left his sword laying beside him in the coffin, albeit, the abilities for the sword is not available for usage. ”One more thing, be careful of the scorpions and snakes.”

The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam Empty Re: The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam

Post by Ardere Kasai 25th September 2015, 12:26 am

Bowing to his master, the fire mage smiled slightly. So whats ne- And just like that, he fell asleep. It was a long, deep sleep. He felt like he was asleep for years, almost as if he had been drinking and passed out harder than ever. After a long and heavy slumber, Ardere woke up. What the? Darkness, pitch black darkness. It was a strange sensation, he felt colder than he had in nine years. He could tell me the restricted movement that he was trapped in something, something like a box. Fear shot through his veins like a needle, and he began to hyperventilate a bit. At first, he could feel nothing other than the cold. Then he heard a voice, it was his guild master. Arching a brow at her words, it seemed that he had been buries alive in a coffin. Immediately freaking out, he reached around in the coffin. His red sword Clarent was beside him, and he went to grab it. As soon as he grabbed it, he felt a pain surge through his arm. Calming down his breathing, he heard Hikari mention bugs. Bugs. Why did she mention bugs? Feeling across his arm, he could tell something had been eating at it. Letting out a yelp, he took his sword and raked off the bugs. Yelling slightly in pain, he could tell the bugs had been scraped off, but they would return soon. His left arm was in serious pain, but not all over. The bugs had eaten so deep, that some of the nerve endings had been shot. When he got out of this, he would need a fairly serious healer. God dammit. Taking a deep breath, he felt across the coffin walls. His first priority was getting out of this coffin before the bugs ate him up, and one of his arms was in fairly bad shape. He could move it, but it was not like he normally could. This was bad, really bad. He was trapped in a coffin only God knows how deep, and he would have to bust out of here. Taking another deep breath, he could move around in the massive coffin a bit. It was bigger than a normal sized coffin, and as such he propped himself up. His first thought was to create a flame to see, snapping his fingers repeatedly, no flames appeared. The hell? Continuously snapping, he found no flames were summoned. This only meant one thing, his magic was disabled down here. Shit, he thought. Without magic, he was screwed. Quickly thinking, he grabbed his sword and attempted to activate it's abilities, but found that they were sealed off as well. No abilities, no spells, no other items. He was truly left up to his own physical abilities, which had been slightly hindered due to the bugs.

Priority number one; get out of the coffin. He honestly had no idea how deep he was, but obviously he was deep enough to be stuck, yet shallow enough to get out of here alive. Ardere gritted his teeth, he was slightly freaking out. He was not claustrophobic, but he did not like sitting here in the dark for long. He was reminded heavily of his child hood, all of the darkness that surrounded him as a child. I have to figure a way out of here, or I'm dead. Hephaestus, and the God above all. I'm gonna need some guidance here, some serious strength. The fire king would not die here, he had finally been planning on going on his own path. He had been considering even becoming a guild master some day, and starting his own guild. If he died down here, he would never be able to do that. He would never be able to see that beautiful green haired woman that he loved so much. The sound of her voice, the touch of her pale, soft skin. His best friend, his guild mates. He had too much to live for, and that would not end here. Once he got out of this coffin, the fire mage was going to start living life to the fullest, and complete all of his goals. Once he got out of here, he would stop just being a normal mage, he would actively pursue his goals. But first, I've got to get the hell out of here. Thinking as hard as he could, Hikari had mentioned earlier about snakes and scorpions. While he could not use his magic, his slayer senses still worked. And in this coffin there were no snakes or scorpions, just the bugs and worms earlier. This could mean only one thing, that he would only have to climb through a limited substance, before he ended up somewhere else underground. Though he was still unsure how much he had to climb through, there was only one way to find out. Taking several deep breathes, he picked up Clarent. Thinking for a few more moments, his best bet was to go out the side, rather than the top. He had less of a chance of a strong cave in that way. The god slayer had done a fair amount of research on the earth, and he had a more than basic understanding of how physics worked. Clutching the blade tight, he thanked God for the blade he was holding. This would not be the first time his Sword of Kings had helped him get out of a sticky situation, and it would certainly not be the last.

Taking his sword and pressing it against the wood, he easily pierced the coffin. Slashing open the side of the coffin with enhanced speed, he then kicked it open. Sand began to rush into the coffin, but rather than fighting it, he let it pour in. Then he began to push through the bits of earth, climbing. Ardere had a limited amount of air in his lungs, so he had to make it out before then. Using his sword almost like a shovel, the fire king pushed through chunks of earth and sand. It was tougher than anything he had done before, and it made his muscles as well as his wounds burn like Hell. After about two minutes, he could tell he did not have much time on air. While he could hold his breath longer than the average human, and probably the average mage, he had to make it out soon. After about thirty more seconds, his lungs were beginning to give out. And right about then, he felt air on his hand. The will to live, and the adrenaline pumping through his veins gave him the strength to push his head out. Gasping for air, he pulled his top half out of the sand. Gasping for air repeatedly, he would breathe in through his nose and out his mouth. Calming himself down, he pulled his entire body out of the earth, and fell down. Breathing heavier than he ever had in his entire life, the fire mage laid down on the ground for a couple minutes. YES! He did not have much air to let out a loud yell, but he let out as loud of one as he could. It was at about this time he felt something crawl onto him, instinctively he smacked it away with his sword. Jumping up, he looked around. The cave was extremely dark, but he would see due to the bio-luminescent plant life on the ceiling. Looking down on the ground, he saw a horde of scorpions moving towards him. Crap. Stay back! Scrapping his sword across the rock in front of him, sparks shot across the area. Scorpions, not something he feared, but not something he was particularly fond of either. Thankfully he did not hear any hissing from snakes, but the horde of scorpions was concerning. Scraping his sword across the earth, he noticed these scorpions were significantly larger than any he had seen before. They were the size of small dogs, and thus he would slice them to pieces. Blood spurting across the floor, two jumped at him, but he slashed them through the air. While his left arm was not of much use, he was a master of one handed sword fighting as well as two. Ridding the area of scorpions, at least to his knowledge. Ardere sighed heavily, it seemed that this exam was getting harder and harder by the minute. He had no idea how he would get out of here, but he had to try.

The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam Empty Re: The Fire King || Ardere's A-Rank Exam

Post by Ardere Kasai 25th September 2015, 1:06 am

Looking around the cave, it was lit up enough to slightly see, but luckily he could rely on his slayer senses. It smelled horrid down in the caves, like sulfur and death. The ceiling and floor were littered with stalactites and stalagmites, which he had not seen in a long time. This is certainly a sight to behold. Walking along the path that had been set for him, he would pass many rocks and luminescent creatures. But the most interesting thing he passed, was a pool of glowing water. Whoa. Bending down to look at the pool, he saw sorts of exotic, almost mutated looking fish. The fish in this pool were probably extinct, and had been for thousands of years. What he was standing in, was the world beneath the world. These caves had been here for millions of years, and would contain life that could not survive above. It was a glorious moment for the fire king, but Ardere had to focus on making it out of here alive. Taking a deep breath, he continued to walk onwards. The path was long, and treacherous, but he could make it. Ripping his left sleeve off, he would wrap it around his wound which would likely get infected. If he could just make it back up, he could get healed and see those that he loved. Not only that, but he would be a rank higher than before. He would be a strong enough mage to fight among some of the more elite. But what stood in his way, was a massive rock wall. The wall was large with many ledges, but there was no path to follow beyond it. That meant only one thing; he would have to climb this wall. Unfortunately, his left arm was not of much use, but it could provide some stability. Gritting his teeth, he sheathed his blade on his back. Here's goes nothing. Jumping up onto the first ledge, he noticed that he had enough strength to climb, at least for now. Beginning his ascent up the massive rock and stone wall, he could tell it was extremely high. Hanging there for a moment, he hopped over to the next ledge, and kept his feet on part of the ledge below him. Fortunately he was more physically adept than even most mages of his rank, thus he could climb this far more easily than others. The only problem, was it was extremely hard to see in here. Even with the luminescent plant life, he still could barely see.

Making his way onto one of the larger ledges, he stood there for a moment, trying to figure out what to do. Looking over, he could see branches or vines running up the rock. Breaking one off, he was disappointed to find that it was very moist. As such, it would not light on fire.Dammit. Sighing, he tossed the vine down. He would have to rely on his keen senses for this one, and he had quite a ways to go. Hopping up to the next ledge, he lost his footing, and fell back down to the ledge he had previously been on. Rubbing his back, he felt the rock shift, just before it fell. Quickly grabbing a jagged rock, he could only reach with his left hand, yelling in pain as his hurt arm held his weight. Swiftly reaching his right arm back up, he used his right hand to hold his weight now. Breathing heavily, he had strained the slightly torn muscles, which meant it was even less useful. But he could do this, he just had to keep climbing. Ledge after ledge, he would climb and fall until he was beaten. It would take him hours to climb up the ledges and rocky hills, but eventually he would make it to the top. After a long and treacherous journey, he collapsed at the top. Panting and exhausted, he still had much further to go in this cave. He knew this much was true, as the only thing in front of him was a pool of crystal clear water. The water was beautiful, more clear than any in the world. Time for a swim eh? Diving into the water, he could see easily as there were glowing blue rocks in the water. It was gorgeous under the water, but that would not last for long. Some sort of long, swimming life form was making it way towards him. From what he could tell, it was a rather large looking eel. Drawing his sword again, the mage had taken off his shirt completely, and was not limited in movement at all. As soon as the eel came towards him, it darted to the side. Spinning through the water, he sliced open the eel like a knife through butter. Swimming through the water as fast as he could, he reappeared on the other side, swimming far upwards. Climbing up onto hard rock, he gasped for air. Quickly putting his entire body on the rock, Ardere panted several times before getting back up. He had to continue, he had to keep going. Shirtless, his chest and back was covered in small scratches, luckily the water had cleaned them and his wounds. Taking off the makeshift bandage as it would do no good, he stretched his arms. Then, he heard the hissing.

Leaping backwards, he could not see much aside from around the pool. He felt something brush past his feet, slimy and disgusting. Leaping to the side, he took off down the cave. Now that he could see with more luminescent plant life, the fire mage noticed the group of snakes coming towards him. Snakes coming from the walls and the floor, he kept his sword out. Slashing at the ones that got too close, the combination of the darkness and the snakes got to him. STAY AWAY! And that was when Ardere broke, his pure anger and motivation to live, near got rid of his fear of both the darkness and snakes. There was nothing that would stop him from living, not these snakes nor the creatures of the dark caves. Slicing snakes to pieces, he went wild. Killing a large amount of snakes, he sighed. While he had overcome his fear now, he felt rage towards both the serpents and the dark. Rage would be his new source of motivation against fear, as rage was stronger than fear. Anger did not know fear, it only knew his goals. Continuing into the caves, he climbed up any ledges and rocks that needed to be climbed. Slashing any scorpions or snakes that got near, adrenaline and his friends kept him going. He thought he had made it, but a solid wall stopped him. There was nowhere to really climb, only the wall before him. Ugh! He had come so far, to have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Punching dents in the walls, he began to slash at it repeatedly. Then, a spark from his blade hit a nearby rock, prompting a tiny explosion. Jumping back, he arched a brow. Walking over to the strange substance, he smelled it. Magnesium, a highly explosive substance. The wall before him was covered in magnesium. My god... Turning to the rocks, Ardere gritted his teeth. He was getting out of here, and he was doing it now. Cutting off some of the rocks, he began to set a trail leading towards the rock, then hid behind a rather large one, not made of magnesium. Scraping his sword against the rock several times, an explosion was not being lit. He continued to do so, yelling at the rock a few times. Then, one spark hit the right part of the wall, and boom. The trail of explosions led to the far wall, and busted it to pieces. Flames and rocks flying across the area, he could see light. Running to where the wall was, he began to climb. His left arm was still a hindrance, and fell several times onto lower ledges, but he kept on moving. No matter the pain or struggle, he kept on climbing. Kicking upwards, he would leap from ledge to ledge, clutching the rock tighter than he had ever clutched anything before, he made sure that he did not fall down to the bottom, for it would mean the end of him for sure. Batting away several scorpions and snakes that came after him, he sent them back down to the depths of the caves, where they would likely be killed by the impact of the fall. The fire king would not stop climbing, he would make it back alive. His heart racing faster than a train engine, hope had returned to his body. Hope was keeping him alive, that and faith in himself, and that someone out there was looking out for him. He continued to climb until he reached the top. Being almost immediately blinded by the light, he had made it back above ground. Ow! Damn! Struggling to stand, it was obvious he had been to Hell and back. Hikari, if you're there, I did it. Laughing slightly, he took a deep breath of the fresh air. Then, he would fall onto the ground. Breathing heavily and smiling, he was alive. He had never been so glad to be alive in his entire live, he even grabbed up some of the earth and clutched it. Being in those caves for all those hours, it dug at his mind. He had made up his mind about everything he wanted to do in life, and his priorities had been set straight. The worst experience in his life had turned out to be extremely valuable, now he felt like he could make it through the worst of enemies.

    Hikari

A giggle erupted from the lips of the cerulean haired girl, followed by an appearance of a figure who was none other than the proctor. ”I’m glad you didn’t die underneath there. Damn, I must have been too harsh to come up with that idea.” Bending down on her knees with her cloak pooling about her feet, Hika gently laid her hand on Ardere’s injured arm that was bitten by the insects that roam underground. A slight glow is produced before his skin returned back to how it was originally, the eaten bits of skin patching up on his arm once again. The girl began to heal up his body and the wounded parts so as to make him feel better. Once Hika was done, she pushed herself back onto her legs and peered down at her fellow guild mate, a smile curving onto her lips. ”Congratulations, you have finally completed your exam. I believe you’ve gained at least something from this and you probably have planned out what you’re going to do onwards, so, go on and fulfil your dreams. I’ll always be here if you need my help.” With that, the Sabertooth guild master transformed into gold dust and vanished along with the air.
