Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 30th August 2015, 10:19 am

The wind howled as it passed through an abandoned village, lit by a full moon. Not a soul could be seen or heard stirring in this place, seemingly abandoned by all life. However, one figure could be seen making it's way through the empty streets, one with grey hair and a black coat. The figure made no attempt to hide or even soften it's steps, for it knew that to attempt such a thing would be pointless; the thing that drew him here is already aware of his presence. And so, he walked on unabated for a time, enjoying the cool breeze of the night while he still could.

Dmitry Kazakov scanned the area around him as he walked, trying to pick up any signs of life in this village. Due to his sixth sense having become stronger in recent months, he now has a means of detecting powerful entities of a physical nature, though only to a certain degree. As the spirits react to a unusual phenomenon, so to does Dmitry sense them stirring. Naturally, the spirits can also sense when large quantities of life are lost, which has brought Dmitry to his current location. Recently, Dmitry felt an enormous amount of spiritual activity coming from this location. The erratic nature of this activity lead him to the conclusion that a great many lives were snuffed out, and judging from the looks of the place, that hunch was right.

Ordinarily, the young medium wouldn't give much thought to the deaths of people he didn't even know, considering the amount of human life that is both born and lost every day. However, something that can kill so many people in such a short amount of time as to disturb the spirits themselves is not something he can leave unattended. At the very least, he had to investigate.

Still, even for someone so accustomed to the harshness of the world, this village was unsettling. It was one thing for a place to be devoid of human life; that much he was used to. But there didn't seem to be a single form of life here. Such a thing was certainly not something he was accustomed to, nor something he wanted get accustomed to. The sooner he could find the source of this disturbance, the sooner he could leave.

"Never thought I'd miss a town..." He mumbled to himself, unnerved by the lack of anything living. And then, as if to rebut, a sound was heard. Footsteps. Something so quiet and subtle. And yet, in this place of silence and death, such a tiny sound might as well have been an atom bomb. Dmitry turned to the one who made the footsteps with both suspicion and apathy in his eyes.

He really didn't need things to get complicated.

    Job:

Lexa was hanging out in the guildhall on silver island, enjoying the spoils of her latest victory. Having won the ability to use the kitchen from her guild mate, Lexa was free to cook to her heart's content. She had her best friend and pet Taranis go to the notice board to pick up a job or two while she was busy stuffing her face with delicious grilled cheesy goodness. The large, alien man didn't complain, he never complains and always does as ordered; a practice that worried Lexa. When he arrived at the table, he placed a piece of parchment in front the tiny wizard with a bit of flare and took a seat to await judgement. "hmm..." Lexa said with an inquisitive look as she put her sandwich down to read the notice. It was a notice of some village that was being haunted, put to sleep, and more common killed. "This sounds like a re-run of Kreddy." Lexa said with puffed cheeks and a displeased look. Taranis pointed to the bottom of the page "There, is, more." he said plainly, his speech was still horrible but was getting better. "Okay, let's go." the girl replied immediately after reading that there was precious knowledge to be gained. Lexa sighed heavily before saying with an irritated voice "Damn it... I never get to just eat my sandwich in peace." after reading that lots of people, half the village to be exact, were killed by the time the notice was written. This meant that either the villagers were all dead, or had evacuated. She quickly wrapped the sandwich in a paper towel and placed that in a plastic bag before stuffing it in her purse. "You ready?" she said while looking at Taranis. Taranis nodded, and she gave him a smile before dispersing into a burst of light.

Seconds later, she came across a land covered in darkness only lit by the full moon and the flicker of still burning candles. Lexa walked through the town, her Silent Circuits preventing any sound to be emitted by her as she pulled the sandwich out of her purse, and began eating it. It wasn't long before she saw a large figure, dressed in a black cloak while also walking through town. She didn't sense any danger, or at least her gut wasn't telling her he would kill her, and decided to approach him. She turned into the darkness of the world itself using her dissipation circuits again, and appeared next to the large man, his face seeming rather familiar. "Want some?" she said while holding a sandwich piece out.

Dmitry raised an eyebrow at the offering, surprised that anybody else would show up in such a place. "Do I know you?" he asked impatiently, a little irritated at the young girl interrupting his investigation and making his stay that much longer.

'You've met this one before, boy,' Hati chimed in. 'During the incident in clover.'

'Did I?' The spirit mage asked of his mentor, utilizing the psychic bond they shared. Dmitry rarely felt it important to remember people, knowing full well what a stranger he was among his own guild, which seemed to be drifting apart. He ignored the blonde's large counter part, having seen stranger things, and turned back towards the direction he had been heading in. "I'm guessing you ain't here to sight see," he said as he continued his trek. "If you're gonna tag along, try not to complicate things. Chances are, things are gonna get weird enough as it is..."

Not caring whether the girl followed or not, the tall Lamian focused his sixth sense as he walked, trying to pick up any trace of spiritual activity that he hadn't already found. But, just as before, the only thing he could sense was the reaction to the enormous void in this place, the distinct absence that plagued this village. Dmitry couldn't blame them; such a thing was horribly unnatural and felt almost unreal. Even the spirits that were bound to his psyche were unnerved and that said something. Yet there was something that seemed out of place.

Dmitry looked to his left, then to his right. He was surrounded by an empty village. "The buildings..." he murmured. "Why are the buildings still standing?" If this thing had the power to wipe out all the life in this village, why was it still here? Shouldn't that power be more than enough to wipe this tiny settlement off the map?

    "It kills...but doesn't destroy."

Post by Lexa Grimoire 31st August 2015, 1:57 am

Taranis saw as the slightly taller man looked at him for a split second as bowed in respect. Taranis, who was normally shunned or feared, was always honored to come across someone who had little to no reaction to him. As always, he followed behind Lexa making sure that nothing would attack her from behind. Lexa gave the man a few seconds, but her sandwich was gonna get cold. "No? MMk!" she sad with a gratuitously large smile, and then chucked the piece into the air, it landing in her mouth. She twirled around to his front, and curtsied politely saying "Lexa." with a child like tone. "You can call me little sister if you want!" she added with child like joy. The man began walking ahead of her, letting her know that he had no issues with her being here so long as she didn't get in his way. She couldn't help but giggle at the idea of things getting weird, this situation was pretty weird as is.

A few moments passed before Lexa's eyes were shot open with shock. "AHHHH BIG BROOTHEER!!!!!" She exclaimed with the up most terror in her high pitched, child like voice, signaling that there was surely something to be alarmed about. Small beads were forming in her eyes as she said "I'm SO SO SO SO SOOO SORRY I forgot your name!!!" with terror, and sadness in her voice while grabbing the end of his coat. Taranis sped up his pace, and placed his large, pale hand on her tiny head while rubbing it gently. Lexa looked at him, her blue eyes glistening with forming tears as he gently removed her hands from Dmitry's coat. "No, cry." Taranis said, his deep, distorted voice brimming with concern. "Not, big, problem." He said trying to comfort her. Taranis pointed to the non Black Rose member saying with a plain voice "Not, remember, Lexa." and paused while he looked for the other words. "So, two... even?" Taranis said after a moment or two, hoping he used the proper words.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 1st September 2015, 11:18 am

Dmitry simply walked past the girl as she twirled in front of him and curtsied, not interested in who she was. However, he was taken aback when she suddenly and frantically started apologizing for forgetting his name.

'Told you so.' Hati said, mocking the young man in his time of discomfort.

'Piss of, old man!' Dmitry retorted, attempting to shake the girl off his coat. Thankfully, her burly friend was able to pry her off and explain to her that what she was panicking over meant nothing to him, much to the sage's relief.

"Dmitry," he said to the girl before moving on. "And your buddy's right: I don't care if you remember me or not. Now try to be quiet so I can focus." With that, Dmitry began to focus his attention to his sixth sense, verifying whether or not there was a spiritual body at work here. But just as before, the only activity he sense was that of the usual nature spirits that would inhabit this place and they were merely reacting to the sudden death toll. Having cleared that up, Dmitry decided to follow up on an earlier suspicion.

The door to one of this villages many houses flew open as he kicked, the lack of use showing in it's rusty hinges and latch. The summoner walked in slowly, maintaining an air of caution in case his deduction had proven false. However, he was made certain of his revelation by the immediate and potent smell of a rotting corpse, something that only slightly bothered him. Dmitry walked over to the body, still in it's bed, and observed it.

"Seems about...five days," the mage said, noting the rate of decomposition. "Judging from what's left. That and there would be more flies if it were any less." Now that he thought about it, there should be more flies than that, even for five days. There was also a distinct lack of any animals trying to break into any of the houses.

"Guess they can feel it too..." Dmitry mumbled to himself.

Post by Lexa Grimoire 1st September 2015, 12:43 pm

Lexa puffed her cheeks as the tall man said he didn't care, and stuck her tongue out at him as he walked past. 'Stupid meenie!' Lexa said to Taranis using her telepathic bond with the alien man, thing. 'Not mean. Not social.' Taranis replied, also using his bond with Lexa. Out of seemingly nowhere, Lexa spotted a floating sword, tentatively floating between the wizard in the coat, and herself. She walked away from his side, knowing her presence was unwelcome, and followed the blade as it danced through the air. Taranis followed closely behind, making sure he could pull the sword from Lexa's back the second the floating blade tried anything. It bobbed slowly, eerily, and without a sound as it moved forwards, leading the two beings to another part of the village. Looking around, she noticed her partner was nowhere near her. For some reason, she kind of preferred it like that.

The sword had stopped moving long enough for Lexa to get close to it. She reached her hand out to touch it, wondering if a sword could actually float around with nothing holding it. The blade was two and a half feet long, with a six inch grip and a guard that looked like a teddy bear's face. The guard was colored to resemble calcified bronze, contradicting the flawlessly silver bevels of the blade. On the broad side of the sword was a set of very ornate markings engraved in the metal. The surface was polished to a gorgeous shine, while the inside of the markings were black. She wanted to take the blade, and keep it but the sword lifted itself from her hands and began floating away again. Looking around, she could only see Taranis standing behind her, and decided to follow the floating sword to see where it would lead her. Call it curiosity overpowering common sense...

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 2nd September 2015, 12:07 am

Just as Dmitry was walking out of the home and leaving it's owner to continue rotting, a sword seemed to appear in the corner of his eye. He turned to look at the blade directly, but it seemed to move away or rather, it stayed in his peripheral vision. The medium couldn't feel any thing from the blade in the way of spiritual activity or even magic energy, leading him to conclude that it was an illusion.

Must be the one who caused all this, he thought to himself, resolving to ignore the blade to the best of his ability. It was then that he looked around and noticed that the girl who had been following him was now gone, leaving him feeling surprisingly lonely. Still, if it meant he would have no more interruptions, it was worth it. Intent on finishing this as soon as possible, Dmitry began moving through the village again. However, it didn't seem like there was anything else left to go on. He then realized how little he had been relying on his other five senses, having neglected to even look at the ground around him. Upon doing so, he found that there was predictable lack of footprints in the dirt, save for that left by a single pair of rather small feet.

The mage began following the footprints, along with any other physical evidence he could find along the way, though that amounted to little. As he walked, he suddenly began to feel even more unnerved then before, feeling as though something or someone were watching. It wasn't his sixth sense that was giving him this feeling, but instead the highly tuned instincts that his time in the wild had given him. Before he could figure out what exactly this feeling was coming from, he noticed the girl from before and her big friend walking ahead of her.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Lexa Grimoire 2nd September 2015, 12:26 am

Lexa watched as a second blade moved in front her, this one a bit different from before. Well... it was a lot different. This blade was four feet long from the guard to the tip, and was made out of very well polished gold plated steel. Either it was plated, or someone had too much money and made it out of gold entirely. The blade was thinner than the first one, no wider than two inches, and no thicker than half an inch. It was shaped so one side of the sword was flat, and not sharp while the other side of the blade was sharpened with a one inch bevel. The side that was flat, and not sharp, had an indentation on it that ran the length of the blade. On the broad side, there was another long indented line, accompanied by several engraved images that Lexa couldn't make out too well. The bevel was covered in black symbols, obviously a language of sorts, though the origins Lexa had no idea about. The sword was floating close enough for her to see all the fine details, but gently floated away when she tried to touch it, then floated back when she stopped trying. She shifted her gaze to the guard, which was colored black and had six red gems, shaped like almonds with the pointy ends facing the the inside. The grip was in the shape of somethings face. It had several sharp teeth, and judging by the lines on it, and how many there was, Lexa assumed it to be quite hairy. After closer study, Lexa realized that the six gems were actually the things eyes, meaning it had six instead of two. She wondered what sort of being would look like that, but wasn't scared when she tried imagining it. She was so entranced by studying the sword that she didn't notice her mission partner, who was looking right at her and Taranis, who was keeping his focus on the swords.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 2nd September 2015, 8:10 am

Dmitry found it a bit odd that the formerly clingy girl had suddenly started ignoring him, not that he was upset by that. Quite the contrary, he was rather glad that he didn't have to worry about her grabbing onto his coat anymore. Around this time, he noticed something different in the corner of his vision. Either the sword from before had been replaced with something else or it had morphed into what was now visible to the young sage. This was most likely what the blonde had been staring at, as it certainly demanded attention. However, having a form of extra sensory perception meant that Dmitry didn't put quite as much stock in his eyes as most humans did, though he did utilize his vision as best as he could. While the sword was certainly off-putting, particularly when he was already disturbed by the place he was in, it was much easier to ignore for one such as him then it was for the average person.

As Dmitry turned his attention away from the ominous floating blade, he noticed an odd sensation coming from his right boot. He knelt down and drew the knife that he kept tucked into it and noticed it was trembling slightly. Not only that, but the curse that he planted on it was resonating the way it did when he used in combat. The curse itself worked by absorbing the 'intent to kill' of his foe and materializing it as an attack, so for it to do this outside of a fight could only mean one thing: someone or something was pouring out an enormous amount of malevolence right now. Dmitry flipped the knife into a reverse grip and readied himself for battle.

"Whatever's lurking around in this place is starting to stir," he said to his temporary companion. "Get ready."

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Lexa Grimoire 2nd September 2015, 10:19 am

Lexa felt her gut telling her to ready up, moments later her partner, the walking ass, told her to get ready. Lexa grabbed the golden grip sticking a foot over her head that was attached to a blade almost as tall as she was. She drew the sword, her magic circuits all glowing brightly as the blade came released of its sheath. Lexa closed her eyes while she let the power from Gabriel's Blade sink in, the glow from the sword resonating with her magic and causing her circuits to glow themselves. She took a breath, and opened her eyes revealing they were shimmering bright blue, as if looking to the ocean on a warm sunny day. Her circuits turned to a gentle, soft, golden glow as she got ready for whatever was coming for the two. Gabriel's Blade was nearly as long as Lexa was tall. It had a total length of four feet, with three feet being the blade itself. The grip was made with a strange leather from the hides of large, plains dwelling beasts from Nazo through the Wakusei Portals, and reinforced with hundreds of microscopic metal wires from the strange world as well. It was covered with golden accents that wrapped around the grip, and extended to the base of the blade and gave it the weight it would need to hit hard. The blade was covered in beautiful golden lights, each shining brightly to resemble an Angel's wings. It was composed of a blend of metals, some from Nazo, some from the angelic plane, and some from Earthland. It was made specifically to consume the enemy in light, and kill them by illuminating their corruption. Lexa shifted her feet to allow greater balance, but still permit her to jump out of the way should she need to.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 2nd September 2015, 6:34 pm

For a moment, the two simply stood there, guards up, awaiting their enemy's arrival. However, that enemy would not even need to show itself, as death would rain from above. Before he could react in the slightest, a spear impaled his upper back, piercing his heart. It was followed by five more spears that riddled his back and sent him to the ground in a pool of his own blood.

Dmitry blinked and dropped his guard for a moment as the vision faded. He then grabbed the blonde next to him with both arms and used Arc of Destiny to skip the distance between him and the nearest house, breaking through the door after the time skip. The mage landed on his side and let his partner go to roll on to his back as he was greeted with several spear-tips lodging them selves in the roof and poking through the ceiling. A sigh of relief could be heard as Dmitry closed his eyes to take a momentary rest, before getting up and moving outside to retrieve the knife he dropped outside. Surrounding the blade were more spears impaled in the ground then he cared to count. Needless to say, he was quite thankful for his bloodline at this particular moment. Were it not for that vision, there would be quite the breeze going through the back of his coat, among other places. Kneeling down to retrieve the lost weapon, he noticed it was resonating even more than before; Dmitry grinned.

"Didn't see that one comin', did ya?" He muttered, quite pleased with how upset this thing obviously was. Still, this wasn't getting him anywhere. If he was going to get out of here with any kind of read on what this was, he would need more info. The spirit summoner walked back to the house where he left his partner. "You," he started on a blunt note. "You knew this thing was here right? And I recall something about you being good with intel." His face took on a stern expression, as apposed to the usual lax and aloof one he usually wore. "What do you know?" Dmitry could here Hati laughing in his head.

    "So now you remember her."

Lexa had the wind knocked out of her for no apparent reason as the man let go of her, after having grabbed her with both arms to pull the small girl out of the path of a set of spears. She would have scolded him for being so rough with her, but she lacked the air to do so. After several moments of her gasping, she took in a big breath to begin yelling at him out of annoyance, but was interrupted by a peculiar question. A grin spread across Lexa's face as the tall man asked what intel she had on the place. "Well..." she said while walking over to a nearby door. Lifting her foot, Lexa said "It's not much." straining the last word as she kicked the door into two pieces. She pulled her sword and used it to carve a small bit from the halves of the door, and then walked back over to Dmitry.

Lexa flicked the stick, the sadistic smile on her face being complimented by her eyes shimmering still, probably a slight glitch. She drew a map of the village that was as detailed as possible, which wasn't much considering she was drawing it in the sand. Marking two X's, Lexa said "This is us." with a firm, still child-like voice. She took a few steps over and drew several words in the sand. "From what I've gathered so far, our target isn't big, as it's been moving constantly to keep us in its sights. Doing so would require a small frame, a bit smaller than I am. Next, our target, by no means, is male. The target seems to use tactics that get into your head, and then she dissects you. Additionally, if it were a man, he would have challenged us in a more obvious manner. Also, our target is a child. Children aren't nearly strong enough to fight people fairly, but they're able to learn remarkable things at much faster paces due them being open minded. Replace physical strength, with illusion magic and a bit of educations on controlling it, and you've got a dangerous kid. As for the spears, it's likely that she set up some traps, so we'll have to be a bit more cautious..." She said, and then moved the stick from the sand revealing the words 'Small, smart, fast, agile, talented,' arranged in a virtecal pattern. Under them was a line, and under than was the words 'Female Child-Mage' with another line under it and the words 'We already know this...'

Lexa stuck the stick in the sand and gingerly held her chin while saying "Aaaas for finding her... she'll probably just show herself once she's gotten bored of toying with us. Kids aren't normally patient, so it shouldn't be too terribly long... I hope." with a voice that implied her statement to be an educated guess, and not a fact.

"That's about all I've got... my mission was actually to come here and get intel on what was happening, but this kid's being annoying so Iiii'm more inclined to stuffing her in Black Rose's brig..." Lexa said with forced happiness that was very apparent in her tone.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 5th September 2015, 8:48 am

Dmitry listened silently to the girls as she went on about the multitude of details to account for when it came to their apparently young enemy, somewhat impressed by her ability to gather information. However...

"You're forgetting something," the summoner said in a tone that was neither admonishing nor lax. "All these people, they were killed in one fell swoop. That takes a hell of a lot more than know-how. For her to kill them all so quickly that even the spirits would notice, that takes an enormous amount of magic power, more than I've ever encountered." Dmitry walked outside before continuing, an ominous air forming about the mage. "On top of that, for someone so young to have that kind of power is...disturbing." He looked up at the night sky and the full moon over head. It seemed, as usual, that the world around them cared little about their struggles. Why should it? The suffering of men was of little issue to the turning of the earth. It was during this musing that Dmitry remembered something. A single question that had been bugging him for a while now, like a pebble in his boot.

"All that power..." Dmitry said, a hint of curiosity in his voice. "So why?" He turned to Lexa. "Why are we still alive? If she has that much power, why hasn't she wiped us off the map? I realize she's been toying with us, but even that's been below par for this level of magic. Besides..." He held up his knife, revealing the resonating curse on it's blade. "This weapon absorbs malevolence and tosses it back at my attackers. Usually I have to activate it for that to happen. But it's been resonating since before the spears fell, which means there's a huge amount of the stuff around here. Besides you and me, there's only one person here. If she's that pissed off, why isn't she using her full power?" The gray haired young man turned his mismatched eyes back to the village, scanning it for signs of movement.

    "Why's she holding back?"

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Lexa Grimoire 5th September 2015, 11:19 am

Lexa smiled slightly, the large man obviously didn't know the inner workings of a child's mind. "Look at me." Lexa said while moving herself directly in front of Dmitry. Her magic circuits began glowing a bright gold, and faded to a low glow. "These circuits cover my entire body. If you look at my eyes, they're there too. It's the source of of my utility based power." Lexa said intuitively. A pair of wings sprouted from her back, white and feathery with blue circuits continuing from the gold ones. "I can form the magic power around me to create wings. I can even convert my entire being, and Taranis's too, into light OR darkness, and travel in that form at will." Lexa said and then demonstrated to Dmitry, turning her body into a shadow, and reappearing on the ground with Taranis behind her. "And there's more." Lexa said. She began punching her own hand, and flicking parts of her body, but for some reason producing no sound. "My circuits also reduce all sounds my body produces to nothing at all. The only way I can make a sound is by talking, or pulling my sword. In the case of my sword, it's the sheathe making the sound and not me." Lexa added while keeping her eyes locked on Dmitry.

"What does that have to do with magic power? All of it. It takes immense power to turn your entire body into something else, and fully control it. Even more power to do it to yourself, and another being like I do with Taranis. It takes immense power still to turn raw magic power in the air, into wings ha fully function. And almost as much, to absolutely zero out sound. All this power comes from my circuits, and only my circuits." Lexa said informatively. "Next, why we're still alive. This happened a while ago, not a long time, but a few days. Children get bored easily, and they need constant entertainment. So when two toys walk up to you, and you haven't had fun for a few days, you play with them and then blow 'em up!"  she said, drawing on her knowledge of kids. "Whether you're a psycho child, or a stable one, you're still a child." she added. "And finally, it's possible that she's not holding back, but rather charging up." Lexa said, and then re-ignited her circuits. "Watch very closely." Lexa said while turning around. She sprouted her wings again, and then turned back around. "Did you see? My wings didn't appear all a once, but rather gradually starting from the circuit, then extending outward. It's how all magic works. Since she's not throwing much at us, she's probably charging up something massive and using as little magic power as possible, because she wants to wipe us all out at once." Lexa said, drawing on several books about magic she read in her guild's library.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 5th September 2015, 2:34 pm

Dmitry observed the blonde as she displayed the numerous abilities she had, not entirely sure he understood these 'magic circuits' were. "I don't need a lesson on magic power, kid," he said to the younger mage. "Still, you might be right about one thing: just cause she did all this once doesn't mean she can up and do again on the spot. But I don't think she's charging up; I think she's recovering. A spell that can take out an entire village is one thing, but to do all that with mind based magic would take power on an S ranked scale. For a child to pull that off is damn near impossible, let alone repeatable. Which means..." He turned to the girl he was talking to. "Now's the only chance we're gonna get. Let's get to work." He stomped over to her and dragged her into the building they had just left, before breaking chairs, tables, and whatever else would crack under his heel.

"You're gonna run out crying and limping and such," the suddenly destructive man said. "Make it look like I smacked you around or something like that. Act like you're pleading with me, begging me to stop. We want her to think we're cracking. She'll start to slip up and maybe give us something that'll help us find where she's hiding. Big guy, you'll need to get all pissed of and start destroying stuff, maybe break through the back of the house all angry-like. Try to make this bitch think you've gone off the deep end for good."

'Are you sure this is going to work, boy?' Hati said.

    'To be honest, no.'

With that, Dmitry began the process of dramatically chasing Lexa out of the house yelling a number of obscenities, not all of which made any sense. Hopefully his target would take the bait.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Lexa Grimoire 5th September 2015, 2:57 pm

Lexa dispersed herself into the moon's light, and reformed herself a few feet away from Dmitry when he tried to start pulling on her. "I don't like being drug around, especially by older people." Lexa said with a rather irritated voice 'or maybe he's my same age?' she thought almost immediately afterwards. She followed Dmitry into the house instead, and watched in moderate confusion as he started smashing stuff, and throwing things around. He began unleashing his idea, a plan to deceive the child into thinking they'd all gone insane already. 'I think this one's already gone off the deep end...' Gabriel said to Lexa in her head. 'Do you wanna tell him that?' Lexa tried to think of the nicest possible way to tell the larger mage that his plan quite possibly, might already have failed before it's conception, but couldn't think of a way to be subtle so she decided to just say it."Uhhh... big brother. I think if the little girl is able to use mind magic, she would be able to monitor our sanity levels... If anything you're just making yourself look silly." Lexa said in a half concerned, half confused voice. She looked around and saw Taranis picking up a chair to smash himself. "You too!?" Lexa shouted surprised as Taranis's cooperation levels. She quickly slapped her forehead with the palm of her hand and closed her eyes tight at the two men smashing things. "Men are idiots..." she said under her breath. Lexa began looking around for any sort of small openings, crevices, windows, just anything you would be able to look through. If she could find one, she would might be able to spot that kid near it. "What's more, she most likely already heard your plan." Lexa added, hoping that would stop the stupidity.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 6th September 2015, 9:55 am

Dmitry froze mid-stomp and looked at the creature who had been following his lead, having not thought this plan through all the way.

"...Oh yeah." He said after about a minute. He slowly lowered his as the hysterical laughter of his mentor began to sound off in his head.

'Thanks, old man,' he said sarcastically to the spirit. 'That helps a bunch.'

'How many times have I taught you the importance of patience?' The wolf asked in rebuttal. 'It's not my fault you don't listen. Or am I supposed to make your plans for you?'

'Yeah, yeah, I get it...' Dmitry had to admit, he probably looked pretty silly right about now. Thankfully, he wasn't a prideful man and looking silly was never one of his concerns. He decided to look out the cracks of the house as well, curious to see what might be happening outside. However, this was interrupted by the sound of something pelting the roof again, followed by the house shaking as if it were about to collapse.

    And it was.

"Shit! We gotta get outta here, now!" Dmitry shouted before bolting out of the building, not all that keen at being pancaked with some week-old corpse. After getting outside just before the house flattened, he looked around the village in the hopes of seeing the girl responsible for all this. Alas, not a soul could be seen or heard in this place of death and madness, save for the two mages. At this point, the spirit mage had already made up his mind on what to do with the girl; she had to be killed. If someone like this made it out into the rest of the world, she would eventually bring harm to the people he cared about. That wasn't something he would have. "Alright, back to basics then," Dmitry said, looking down at the ground.

    "We follow her tracks."

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Lexa Grimoire 6th September 2015, 2:50 pm

Lexa heard the tapping as something was barraging the roof of the rickety house, just as her strange partner had finished being stupid too. "Lovely." Lexa said in a blank, high-pitched voice. She quickly began sprinting out of the house, even though she was closest to the door, Lexa didn't want to be hit by random debris. She performed a quick frontwards commando roll as a set of spears hit the ground one by one behind her. The last one, landing a hit on the end of Lexa's black skirt. Lexa's eyes turned considerably less innocent as her voice changed to a much older, more mature version when she said "This bitch is gonna wish she'd died." with displeasure and hatred in her voice. Taranis, was only a few meters behind Lexa when he heard the voice change, and slowly began scooting to being behind Dmitry.

Lexa's hair dangled over her eyes, casting a shadow over her face as a large, sadistic grin came out accompanied by a series of maniacal chuckles. "I'm gonna enjoy playing with my new toy... when I drag that brat's ass to the brig." she said, her voice giving off immense levels of intent, and her magic circuits radiating the intention to take that child and break her. Lexa grabbed the shaft of the spear still sticking in her skirt, and ripped it out the ground. The dress tore at the edge, only pissing Lexa off even more as she gripped the weapon even tighter. At this moment, Taranis began scooting even faster away from his master out of fear of that spear being used on him for some reason. "Not, stable." Taranis said when he was near Dmitry, a hint of fear in his voice. A small shudder went through Taranis's body as he thought of exactly what Lexa had in mind for that poor girl. "Taranis, stick with, sane one?" Taranis added, offering his assistance to Dmitry in tracking the girl down.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 8th September 2015, 10:53 am

Dmitry let out another sigh as the beast began to cower behind him at his master's reaction to a torn dress. Why did he always attract the crazy ones? True, by societal standards, the young summoner wasn't exactly normal either. But at least he didn't lose his mind over something like torn up clothes, of all things. Then again, perhaps this young lady had already lost her mind quite a while ago, judging by her companion's behavior. Nevertheless, he was far more concerned with locating the real psychopath in the vicinity, the one that's been causing them so much trouble. much as he hated to do it, it seemed he would have to reveal his spirits to locate this one. while it would definitely make things easier, these beings were directly linked to his psyche, something he didn't want to expose to someone with this particular type of magic. Still, it wasn't like he was making any progress right now and following footprints would only help so much. And so, the mage relented and held out his hand, closing his eyes.

"I invoke the Twin Ravens..." As he said this, his eyes snapped open, pupils silver and irises black. "Huginn! Muninn!" The smoke-like birds flew out of Dmitry's hand and into the skies. The two spirits would circle the village from above, monitoring the ground below for any movement aside from their summoner and those with him. If any such movement was found, they would telepathically signal Dmitry, prompting him to focus on his bond with them and see through their eyes. While they scanned the village from the air, he and Lexa would follow the footsteps of their little murderer and see if they could flush her out of hiding.

"Alright moody, let's go," he said to his enraged partner, walking alongside the prints embedded in the ground.

"We've got a nut job to catch."

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Lexa Grimoire 10th September 2015, 6:59 am

Lexa's eyes were glowing bright yellow, her rage from having her favorite skirt torn couldn't be matched by anything in heaven or hell. She wore a very crooked, wide grin on her face as her lightly glowing magic circuits sparks with black lights periodically. Taranis stayed near Dmitry, even going so far as to walk directly next to him, but never in front him, to avoid being the target of Lexa's anger. The spear Lexa had removed from her skirt was being held tightly in her hand, she was gripping it so hard in face that the wood was being crushed, and her nails had dug into the base of her hands. She ignored the blood dripping from her hands, something her partner wouldn't notice unless he actually turned around, and continued walking behind him while contemplating the various things she would do to Lillith when she hauled the brat into Black Rose's brig.

The whiz of something falling from above could be heard, a sound that was beginning to piss Lexa off even more. She didn't bother letting Dmitry know they were about to be slammed by more spears, she simply put her hand in the air, the crooked smile on her face still there. "Reflect." She said with her now adult sounding voice. As the 30 spears riddled the entire area, the seven or so that would have hit Lexa were all shattered as they hit her barrier. The attack hit her Reflect, causing half the damage to be sent back towards the spears and the other half was absorbed, this reflected damage caused the spears to crack along the grain of their handles, and shatter. As fast as her Reflect deployed, it was gone and Lexa began walking through the field of spear handles sticking out of the ground, her magic circuits sparking slightly stronger now.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 10th September 2015, 1:40 pm

One moment they were flying calmly above, surveying the ground below. The next, Dmitry's view of the world Huginn and Muninn saw was suddenly cut off, letting him know he had to move and he had to do it now. Once again, the mage used the teleportation allowed to him by his Arc of Destiny to skip the distance between him and the nearest building before busting through the door with his shoulder the way he did with the last house. After a while, he stopped seeing the spear tips piercing threw the roof, letting him know the barrage was over. Unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to summon the Twin Ravens again for a while longer; it seemed the young miss didn't like him cheating.

"Yeah, screw you too," Dmitry spitefully mumbled as he sat up and rubbed his head. "Crazy little bitch." He would just have to track her the old fashioned way, something he was also accustomed to. "Just you wait, sweetheart, I'll find you..." With that and a somewhat malicious grin, Dmitry shambled to his feet and walked outside.

As he stepped back out into the moonlight, the night air filling his lungs again, he noticed the blonde he was working with up till now was in the exact same spot she was in when the spears fell. It was then that he saw the shattered and splintered remains of what he could only guess were several of the spears that had earlier tried to skewer them both. Her 'circuits' or whatever they were called seemed to be glowing a bit more then they had been before, causing him to think that maybe she was a bit more upset about that dress than he had originally thought. Just as he was thinking that, she began walking.

"Alright then," he said with a bit of apprehension before following after her.

    "After you."

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Lexa Grimoire 11th September 2015, 2:19 pm

Taranis slowly poked his head out from an alley way, looking at his body first to ensure he wasn't hit by the flurry of spears. He shifted his gave upwards as his body was clear of any damage, and saw his master surrounded by splinters and fragments of broken spears. He gave a sigh of relief, thankful that Lexa wasn't hurt, but was worried when he'd noticed the drops of blood leading to where she stood. Before he knew it, Lexa began walking again, seemingly ignorant of her own bleeding. He stepped out into the open and began following behind, walking a bit faster than the mages so he'd catch up.

Lexa's hand was dripping blood at a faster rate now, the trail left in the sand was a good indicator as the drops of blood were closer and closer. Her anger had nearly peaked, visible from the black sparks rapidly moving down her arms before dispersing. The golden glow of her circuits giving light to the surrounding area within a few feet, signaling she was ready to kill. Stepping out, Lexa felt something touch her shoulder and immediately spun around, grabbing Gabriel's Blade's handle and preparing to strike. She looked up and saw Taranis standing above her, his hand resting on hers to prevent Lexa from drawing the sword. "Lexa. Not, stable." He said with a hint of worry in his voice. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I'M NOT STABLE!?" Lexa snapped, her voice full of rage. Taranis reached down, and lifted the hand she was holding the spear with, revealing just how unstable she was. "Uh.... Oh. I'm- I'm sorry for yelling." Lexa said as the black sparks on her arms stopped altogether, along with her circuit's glowing. Lexa looked at her partner, "You go on ahead. I needa take care of my hand, and maybe find a sewing kit. Gods knows how many old people could have lived here, one of the houses should have a kit." Lexa said, the last sentence riddled with forced joy as she began walking towards a set of houses with Taranis in tow.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Post by Benjamin 11th September 2015, 8:00 pm

"Here," Dmitry called as he tossed her a pouch containing a needle and medical thread just before she turned to leave. "Just get it back to me, yeah?" With that, the mage walked onward, keeping an eye out for anymore tricks or illusions. So far, all of this girl's actions pointed to the fact that she was desperate to keep them away, which let Dmitry know a certain helpful hint: she was vulnerable. For whatever reason, her reactions were strongest when he and Lexa were on the right path to finding her and everything that had happened to them thus far seemed to be for the sole purpose of delaying them. The swords distracted them, the spears forced them into cover; she knew they were here for them and one way or another, she was unprepared.

Still, the fact remained that if she was cornered, they could expect a vicious fight from the little psychic. More than likely, these 'distractions' would get more elaborate along the way and more deadly as well. Dmitry wondered what could push someone so young into such a position. Beings like this weren't born, they were made. Something happened to this girl to make her into what she is now. Sure, she may have been born with this power, but nobody is born with this much hate.

Dmitry shook his head; her reasons didn't matter. He had to put her down, regardless of why she was like this. Pity wouldn't do him, her, or anyone else a damn bit of good. Morality wasn't the medium factored into his decisions. The simple fact was, he couldn't let this girl run loose.

'You feel for her, don't you boy,' Hati said within his mind.

'Why on earth would you think that, old man?' Dmitry asked in denial. It was weak of him to falter now. He couldn't afford to be sympathetic towards something like this. Hati chuckled.

    'You're a terrible liar.'

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

Lexa lifted her hand and caught the airborne sewing kit with a slightly puzzled look on her face. She took a second to look at it to make sure she didn't just catch a bomb or something worse. "Thanks." She said to Dmitry before walking off to one of the houses. Once inside, safe from any falling spears, Lexa held her hand out, letting Taranis take a proper look at it. He took the needle and some of the thread from the sewing kit Dmitry gave them, and started carefully closing up the cuts. "Lexa, stable, now?" Taranis asked in a concerned tone of voice. "Yeah. I'm sorry for getting that angry..." Lexa said with a sad voice. "Will you kill her?" a disembodied voice asked. Lexa quickly looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. Another sword appeared in the distance, and seemed to be moving to stay in her eye sight. "You could always kill her. It would be faster than capturing..." the voice said, presenting a very viable option. Lexa let out an exasperated sigh. "I won't kill her." she said, answering the voice. "But that's no fun. If she died, then all the people she killed would be happy..." the voice responded. "No. The people she killed are gone, they wouldn't feel anything." Lexa replied with her own argument. The sword moved from Lexa's field of vision, down to a small coil of rope laying on the floor. "Then you could use this to hang her later?" the voice asked. "Sure..." Lexa said, but had a different use for that rope. Taranis was finished fixing Lexa's hand, and didn't bother to comment on her talking to nothing. He looked at the amount of thread left, and realized it wasn't enough to fix the torn skirt. "Sorry." He said, sounding truly sad. "It's fine. Let's go!" Lexa said with a smile. She picked up the rope and slung it over her body, not noticing the sword disappearing from sight, and began to walking through town again.

Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa) Empty Re: Nightmare's End (Dmitry, Lexa)

    Of course.

    Another floating sword.

Dmitry once again ignored the blade like a champ, until he heard something.

"You feel mercy?" Said the voice.

Dmitry didn't respond, as he didn't have time to answer the questions of a disembodied voice accompanying a floating sword. Of course he didn't feel any mercy towards this girl. Why should he? It's not as though she hasn't earned what's coming to her. In fact, he wouldn't even be deciding her fate. Most likely, the council will be the ones to judge her and that was fine by him. Let them mete out their own justice.

"You lie to yourself," the voice responded to the answer that wasn't given. "You are sad to face someone like this. You know she has suffered."

"And what's that matter to me?" This time, Dmitry spoke aloud, irritated by this voice. "A lot-o-people suffer all around the world. Why should I feel any different about this one."

"Does he ask others or does he ask himself?" It seemed like the voice was mocking him now, which didn't actually bother Dmitry. He didn't care about insults all that much, considering they're merely words. What bothered Dmitry was this feeling he was getting in his gut, like he was about to do something he would regret. To make matters worse, this voice seemed to be determined to hit on this note with every word it spoke, pushing the mage's buttons to no end.

"Will you spare her?" Dmitry didn't respond at first, letting the air hang silent. "It would be far more satisfying to kill her, wouldn't it?" Finally the summoner spoke.

"I'm not here for satisfaction," he said, the resolve returning to his voice. "I'm here to make sure that the things I've come to know are gonna stay safe; that's all."

After that, it seemed the voice tired of toying with him, as Dmitry heard it's prattle no more.
