Irene gazed at the job request with more than some amount of skepticism. According to the man behind the paper, he had injected a chicken with some kind of... hormones? And the hormones had caused the creature to grown exponentially and become over five feet tall. Well, that was simply fantastic, as Irene had always wanted to fight a giant chicken-- but unfortunately, it seemed that she was banned from killing the animal or even harming a single hair-- no, feather-- on its body. Shrugging with something like annoyance, the girl simply threw the job request into a nearby trash can after crumpling it into a ball. The job description was about as useless as anything went, especially since it seemed the situation was something which one had to observe for themselves. After all, a giant chicken who was rampaging and was able to defeat mages by pecking had to be... well, a sight to see.

Upon arriving at the farm, the girl gaped at the catastrophe that lay before her. It seemed that the smaller fence and cage for a normal sized chicken had been demolished by a giant foot, and the henhouse was half smashed by another. Nearby, a giant fence had been built, one that truly could possibly hold a giant, five foot chicken-- if such a creature actually existed, of course. An elderly man with enormous glasses emerged from the house, his blue jean overalls dusty from who knew what. The client explained the situation and insisted that this was not a practical joke, using the current state of the surrounding area to support his claim. The raven haired girl ignored everything that he said and stalked away-- she only cared about finishing this job and getting the money. Typically Irene would have been anxious to drag out the job as long as possible, to have fun, but unfortunately she was a bit short on cash at the moment and had been unable to pay her rent this morning. Thus hence, the last minute mission she had taken.

Irene glanced around, wondering where this giant bird had flapped off to. She tore off her jacket, dropping it unceremoniously on the ground before stretching, her dark butterfly wings unfurling as well. Perhaps an aerial view would assist her in discovering the whereabouts of the enlarged fowl, and the raven haired mage took off at a swift pace, rising nearly straight up into the air until she was a decent distance off of the ground-- a few meters above the tops of the trees in a forest nearby. Scanning the ground, Irene soon spotted a slowly moving, tannish brown and orange shape a little ways away. Rolling her eyes, as the man had obviously exaggerated its size, the girl swooped down and was about to scoop up the chicken when she realized... by the Goddess, it was truly enormous. From her vantage point, directly above in the sky, its size hadn’t been represented correctly. Coughing, the girl reached out cautiously to pet the gigantic bird. “Uh... nice chicken?” she muttered.

The bird immediately replied with a huge bite to her shoulder and the girl stumbled back, her eyes watering from the sudden shock and pain. “...Ngh. Okay, not nice chicken.” The raven haired girl glared at the fowl and was just about to summon a spirit when she remembered how ardently the farmer had protested when she had commented on killing the animal, earlier. Rolling her eyes, Irene reflected on the fact that this fat little-- no, fat and gigantic bird was most likely more powerful than most mages at Irene’s level. Physical attacks wise, of course. The girl eventually decided to form a height advantage and flared her wings out once again, causing the chicken to squawk and flap its own wings, backing away a little bit. The black haired mage flew over the bird and began to herd it slowly in the direction of the brand new giant pen, hoping that the gate would be open by the time she arrived.

Soon Irene made it back and with a final, light shove so as to not damage the creature, she managed to get it inside of the fenced off area. After locking the gate, she turned around to glare at the man, still holding her shoulder gingerly. Extending her left hand and raising her eyebrows, the man reluctantly handed over the money and Irene stalked away, highly aggravated. The Priestess automatically summoned herself after feeling the mage’s emotions, healing Irene while trying to convince her to calm down. The girl was having none of it and instead continued to boil with anger, her pride also injured by the fact that she had been at first overpowered by an overgrown farm animal. Eventually, Irene ended up muttering insults to chickens all over the world while turning over in bed that night-- it was likely that a grudge would forever be held against the farmer, that particular creature, and fowls of the chicken family all over the world and in any future assignments.
