Let's Spy! [Mission l Lynn]

Tane was outside in the chilly night with very exposing wear. She folded her arms, looking around. It would have been hard to see where she was going if it was not for her glowing skin. Thank Fismuth, thank the heavens. She made her way around a building, following the bending road, then found a lit shop that said on a blaring red sign that it was open twenty four hours a day. That was nice. Tane grinned a bit. Maybe she would get warm there, and maybe buy a drink? She was thirsty, after all, after so much walking and exploring. Oak Town was very different from most of the towns she had been to. Apparently it had  a nightlife, which was absent in the other towns. The location where the nightlife was happening was exactly where Tane was an hour ago. She strolled into the shop, hands still folded on her chest as she studied the interior. It looked like a convenience shop, selling almost everything you would want at any time of day. She reached for a drink that said ‘redbull’. She only got it because it sounded interesting and funny at the same time. Who would name a drink after a colored animal? She bought it, deciding that she would taste the ‘redbull’. With that, she left the shop, standing outside for a while trying to open the drink and then taking a long swig of it until she had emptied. For some reason, she felt unimaginably dynamic like all the cells in her body were working in overdrive. She flipped the bottle, noticing the label that said ‘instant energizer’. She dropped it into a dustbin nearby, mumbling to herself, “Great.”

Tane was feeling exceptionally jumpy now. She felt like her body was charged, although not a single spark of electricity could be seen. The cold had disappeared. The first thing she did was start doing acrobatic techniques she had never done in her life. Stuff she had never expected her body to be capable of doing. That was completely random. For about five minutes she was there, bending her body at unimaginable angles. Then, she stopped, standing with her eyes wide and her body full on alert. The redbull drink did a seriously great job at energizing her. Actually, she felt ecstatic, rather than energized. The brunette turned abruptly to her side at the sound of an opening door and a human’s footsteps. It was a familiar face, but she didn’t know exactly who it was, given her state of mind. With her eyebrows furrowed together, she skipped over to the small girl, bending down a bit so she was at her eye level. “Who are you...hmm..?” It was a question she did not expect an answer for. She would figure out sooner or later, after studying the girl for about a minute. Bingo! It was that girl she met on a tree branch at Beanstalk Village.

The girl then walked away, ignoring Tane completely. Maybe she did not like meeting old acquaintances? Or she could just be a person with a cold attitude. Tane twirled to the opposite side and hopped around, singing some weird songs out loudly, embarrassing herself. Of course this had grabbed a lot of attention in the streets. Some people had stopped to watch her as though she was a sidewalk entertainment, or something of the sort. The cold had automatically disappeared. She was actually feeling a tiny bit warm now. Why? From all the movements she was doing. Her arms and legs were bending at awkward angles, making her look kind of as though she had twisted joints and whatnot. Tane did not know what was going on with herself, but she was clearly enjoying it, laughing amidst her own concert. Someone people actually considered placing money in front of her but she was actually a little too crazy to be showing talents for money on the streets. It was overall very humiliating, but Tane did not know that. She was ecstatic. Happiness was the only emotion she was experiencing at the moment. Nothing could bring her out of that state of mind.

Tane was still dancing and singing when the girl returned to her and told her to keep quiet in a phrasing she was familiar with. She turned so that her mouth was to the girl’s right ear, and once it was directly there, she sang, “Koooonaaaa! Kona kona konaaaaa!” This would probably cause the petite female to burst out in anger or attack Tane. She was too ecstatic to realise what she might have done. She then began humming and doing all sorts of silly things with her hands, while being dragged to wherever Kona had decided to drag her. The Prestigious one did not know how long this state of mind was going to prevail. Heavens, she barely knew anything! She did not know where she was, her skin had numbed itself so she could not feel the cold of the night anymore. The girl known to her as Kona was dragging her to a place she could not figure out. Sure they had done a job together, but that did not mean she could become a threat to Tane. What if she had evil intentions? What if she was from an evil guild in the first place? That would not end well.

Tane was giggling uncontrollably, rolling around on the carpeted floor of the hotel room that Kona had taken her to. A few moments later, something was put in her mouth that made her eyes widen and her tongue numbed for only a moment before the taste of lemon reached her brain, making her sit up and spit it out immediately. She made a disgusted noise and looked around, squinting her eyes. Where was she? A compartment. A room, and a human was sitting on a bed in it! Was she imprisoned? Tane stood up, patting off any dirt that might have been present on her outfit. She raised an eyebrow at the girl. It was Kona, she remembered. But she did not remember why she was in this room, or how she got here. Maybe Kona had brought her here? Or Kona was imprisoned with her as well!?

“Where am I?” she started, her voice coming out a croak. “Why am I here?” she continued, looking around once again and observing everything within the room. “More importantly, why are you here as well?” Tane turned to the short girl who was sitting on the edge of the bed. She blinked.

Tane blinked, as the small girl would enter a smaller room, bring out a set of human wear, thrusting it towards her and telling her to change. Tane accepted it, entering what she knew was a bathroom, and changed into the clean set of wear. She folded her tainted wear and held it on her way out. She smiled at the girl saying, “Thank you for taking care of me, young one,” while walking over to her then stopping about a foot away. She though it would be best to leave at the moment. Tane glanced over at the balcony to her right. She did not want to waste time exiting the ordinary way. The brunette hopped over to the veranda rail. “I'll be taking my leave now. Follow me if you like adventures,” she smiled once more while standing on the brick rails, then hopping down. Thanks to her light weight, she did not drop to the ground like a rock. Her knees were bent as she landed on her feet, hands a little spread out as if to balance herself. And after that, she would continue walking. A few minutes later, she would hear a breathing noise that was following her. Someone was following her.

Tane was not sure who exactly was following her but that person had either multiplied or someone else was following the person that was following her. It was awkward because the breathing was from a strange angle, above and slightly to the left. From above the building? She was sure that it was not too high for the person to be following from the roof of the building as if that was the case, she would not be able to hear the breathing noise as clearly. She glanced up and noticed the blue haired girl, running along the side of the building. Tane smiled. So she liked adventures too. The Prestigious one kept going on, turning at a bend in the road where the buildings ended. A man in a dark trench coat was standing there. Tane almost bumped right into him, but she stopped before that happen, thankfully. He turned to face her immediately with a serious expression about her face. Tane was dumbfounded. She dared to speak however. “Hello, sir,” she said, in a soft tone of voice, hoping he was not someone who would cause harm to her. Anytime soon Kona would see him too. And hopefully, if he did prove to be dangerous, the girl would not run away.

A small blue creature had appeared out of nowhere and frightened the man in the trench coat. It must have been the creature following Kona who was following her. Ah, now that made sense. The man had shrieked, almost making Tane jump out of her skin. The blue little creature must have scared the life out of him since it did look quite intimidating with its scaring expression, although Tane must admit it was adorable. The size of it being a plus. It must be Kona’s pet, since she talked to it, addressing it as ‘Dee’, if Tane heard correctly. As Kona was about to leave, the man asked if they were mages. Tane nodded twice, admitting that she was indeed a mage. Then he said that he needed help with spying someone. Tane smiled. She loved to help people. “We would love to help,” Tane said, for the both of them. She remembered Kona did not mind receiving money. Maybe she would not mind this time either. Tane listened as the man would talk about the situation and what he needed them to do. Tane memorized all the important facts. The man’s detailed description of the person who was to be spied left an image in Tane’s head. She knew who they were looking for now. Well, not like that. But she had a pretty clear idea. “Alright, we’ll meet back right here,” she told the man and started walking in the direction that the man had told them to start. Soon enough, she saw a man who fit the description perfectly and began spying on him. Hopefully Kona could keep her pet quiet.

All Tane had to do the entire time was stay behind large objects to keep her out of sight. As long as her glow was not showing, she was completely hidden from the view. Her hair was colored dark brown, so that was a plus for her. She grabbed hold of the edge of a barrel that she randomly found beside the street. The man somehow resembled a ninja, which the trench coat man had added in his description as well. Tane watched him the entire time. He looked confused, like he did not know his way around town. For a few minutes, he was just standing there looking around, until later, a lady came along, dressed flamboyantly. She tapped his shoulder, then hooked her arm through his before taking him somewhere. Tane followed of course. But after realising where they went - a hotel - and what they did, Tane knew that the trench coat person was following the wrong person, most likely. She returned to their meeting place, telling him the exact things that she had seen, making herself and the man’s faces go red. She wondered how Kona felt about almost seeing something very inappropriate like that.

Kona seemed unphased by the events that had occurred. Maybe she was not as innocent as she appeared to be? Or maybe she was just like that, unperturbed by anything at all. It was a tad annoying, but Tane did not mind. “Laters then,” Kona told her, to which Tane replied with something similar and a wave. She thought of what she should do with the money that she had received. Not only from this request, but from all the requests she had completed before this one was well. Since she had no idea, she simply shrugged, shoving the pouch of jewels into her pocket as she strolled her way back to the dainty little inn she was staying in. It was a nice place to take temporary refuge in. The owner was friendly, and so were the rest of the staff. They were probably trained to be nice like that by the owner. She waved at the owner on her way to her room. She would probably take a nap now. Even though she was not actually tired, she was drained in a way, thanks to the Redbull drink. Tane almost laughed thinking about what she was doing after the drink. It slowly came back to her.
